Changing hand position so that the little finger extends down the string rather than the hand being perpendicular to the string should be a big game changer for a lot of players. Very valuable point made.
Not trying to give you the big head BUT.... nobody I have seen explains the concept of playing like you do so far that I have heard, sound wisdom in instructional content in helping us peg heads learn how to play, better!
Try resting just the tips of the picks on the strings and playing with very small movements, maybe a lighter feel and touch on the strings, try picking across instead of going deep in the string
