    Only great teachers can explain things to the novice in a way he understands... and then turn around and tear up some ridiculous bluegrass licks. Well, done.

    Ooh this is really good, I've wanted to learn the banjo music theory for so long now, awesome! 😁

    So I decided to want to learn to play the banjo (no prior experience with instruments, haven't even had a music class. Plan to though) so I found some educational Playlist for learning and banjo maintenance, but then I remembered "hey don't I need to know music theory to do this" so I downloaded some apps and realized I had no idea what fret or A even meant. Now I'm here

    As a drummer trying to learn banjo I can testify this is an excellent breakdown of counting, tempo and time signature. Also check out Eli's 30 days of banjo. Proudly playing day 8 at tempo.

    It still blows my mind how 12 simple notes can be so complicated.

    Constantly revisit these theory videos, they are incredible. You should add them with a label to your homepage!

    Just started watching part one and I don’t mind that it’s dense, I’m dense too, so we should get along just fine.

    Great lesson Eli. Thank you. I am curious as to whether or not there is opportunity to marry some of this information with use of a metronome?

    I am stuck. I meant to say picking the 4th string 4 or 5 times before a banjo roll is played. What is the purpose for picking the 4th string with the phone pick four or five times before playing a banjo roll at the beginning of the song
    Why are you so damn hung up on that fourth-string cleaning where I told you the computer told the words wrong Bridget about string cleaning
    IT WAS A MISTAKE
    FORGET ABOUT IT

    • @EliGilbertBanjo

      Clean the 4th string? Not sure I understand the question

    • @Killer2452
      @Killer2452 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was worded wrong by the computer on my phone I have noticed that some banjo players when they're playing the song on the Banjo that they are picking the 4th string 3 x 4 x or even five times in a row with the phone pick one playing the song and there is no banjo rolls that require that. And that is what I am stuck on. Hopefully maybe you could give me a phone call I can give you my phone number so we can have a discussion about this over the phone maybe I can better understand it.
      Just please let me know if you want my phone number and I'll gladly give it to you on here.
      Thank you so very kindly,, Donnie

    Can a $200 banjo sound just as good as a professional banjo if recorded, processed and mixed professionally?

    • @EliGilbertBanjo
      @EliGilbertBanjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can definitely sound good, and nice to listen to, but it's very unlikely you could match the quality of a professional instrument. I haven't heard it done but I won't say it's impossible!

    Why would a banjo player need to know *anything* about music? A banjo is not a legitimate musical instrument!😂
