This definitely is saturated in such good stuff even for beginners! Turned into a full on lesson for me ! Thank you Kristin for your incredible mastery to teach your talent !!!
Kristen taught me how to play banjo the right way !! after trying for months watching from TH-cam and other free forums -I finally was able to obtain weekly lessons from her and I was very lucky for that! She taught me from heart and I really believe that you are only as good as your teacher in every form of life incluing banjo
All the kudos are deserving for Kristin, and I chime in too! In addition, kudos to the Deering Company for hosting these artist features...Thank You SO much..I play a Deering Sierra (don't remember what Kristin played), and it is set up super duper...So glad for it!
Yes, the 🪕 camp last year … good players are not always the best teachers … but Kristin is for sure one of those players who can teach as well - saying this as a teacher myself 😊
I watched this live and immediately went to Amazon and bought KSB's beginner book. I've being trying to learn from videos for a couple of years now and hit a wall. Watching this made me realize that I had missed some very basic stuff. I've already read/watched Lessons 1 & 2 multiple times and am starting back over from scratch to unlearn some bad habits. Her instruction style is very helpful. I hope you have her on again soon!
I liked hearing Kristin Scott Benson play “Goodbye, Liza Jane” in this video. I heard the Highwoods String Band play “Goodbye, Miss Liza” that’s another song about Liza Jane. They played old-time music.
I would really love to learn the Lick at the 58 minute mark. I think it is a G7. Is there a lesson you can direct me to so I can learn this one? Thank you, and thank you for putting on this backup session.
Here is the book that Kristin references during the show. Enjoy... www.deeringbanjos.com/collections/banjo-learning-tools/products/first-15-lessons-banjo-a-beginners-guide
I 'm so sorry I could be here for the live feed. I'm getting a new puppy in 48 hours. I wanted to ask Kristin how to balance banjo practice with the demands of every day life. I'm sure the answer is buried in the show somewhere!
What an amazing Teacher & Picker WOW!
you are fantastic at explaining what you're doing. thank you for sharing .
I find my self listening to this over and over. Picked up some great concepts, especially her chord grouping.... fascinating.
wow!!
Excellent explanations, Kristin. I think I understand backup because of it. Thanks a ton!

Thanks, Kristin. I use your book. It’s a great tutorial - written words and videos. I enjoy your playing style. Best wishes.
What Book is this ?
@@favronfrancois4793 Beginners banjo, available on Amazon.
Great information for all levels
Great lesson, looking forward to practicing tomorrow.
Good lesson. It’s very useful to have those backup rolls simplified even for those us who have been hacking away at the banjo for many decades.
She has to be a great player because she seems to be a fantastic teacher.
Thanks 4 the interesting interview & greeting from Costa Rica
That’s one good sounding banjo.

Oh wow -- does Kristin play "Blackbird"? I don't see her playing it on TH-cam anywhere, but the little bit she played here had a beautiful sound.
There is a good tutorial on you tube that I learned from by a guy named John Curtis
She's been my favorite since the "Sally & The Sidewinders" days.

Self-tuning banjo? Don't you know that a banjo can't ever be tuned?🙃🤣
Valid point!
