Helldivers 2 with a Gears of War makeover would be a match made in heaven as long there’s a proper lore way to implement respawn without having to be dropped from orbit.

I mean, as far as turning Sera into a black hole, they'd have to complete enough of those drill missions to do so, and lord knows against Gears they'd have a hard enough time doing it. But the locust horde would come screaming out of E-holes the moment the first drill was successfully deployed, then the Helldivers would really be screwed!

You did forget one thing for the Helldivers training - it's stated and implied in the Helldivers canon that EVERYONE is given and trained with guns from an incredibly young age (the youngest I can recall clearly being a 5y/o being given one as a birthday gift), and can be signed up for the general armed forces *at age seven.*

If we're talking ground warfare and one on one combat, then gears would stomp. However, if we're talking lore wise, it's only gonna be a matter of time until the Helldivers win. Sure, the gears are better equipped, but there are just far too many Helldivers being sent out for them to handle, and it'll only be a matter of time until the sheer number of Helldivers being sent down overwhelms them. Remember, countless new Helldivers are being conscripted on the daily, and when you remember that each one is equipped with a super destroyer that is said to have enough raw firepower to level a small moon, it's only a question of how many divers die before they take the planet and wipe out everyone there.

Pretty sure the Super Earth fleet still just clears though. There are just too many super destroyers to contend with, and the Helldivers are still a very effective fighting force, with a Super Earth Ministry of Science that does use any and all technology they can get their hands on to defeat their enemies. Not just the Spaghettification of Meridia, but the new Nuclear variants of the Tectonic drills that are being currently used to nuke deep underground hatcheries.
Also we haven't even seen all of the enemies yet. In HD1 there were big boss raids against huge Terminids and we still haven't seen the Illuminate yet.

  • @Keemperor40K

This all comes down to super buffing Gears, though to be fair COG soldiers are really buff, clearly super roided out and yes they do seem to use some very heavy weapons relative to their size.
But Helldivers weapons are nothing to sneeze at and they not only compare very well to COG weapons, they also have a lot of heavily specialized weaponry that the more seasoned troopers would have access to and many are weapon types and gear that the COG simply cannot equal.
You had to intentionally nerf the Helldivers gear to the most basic, while allowing the COG their full arsenal, but once you start going up the weapon tree, the Helldivers quickly begin to outpace Locust war era COG.
Examples like man-portable rocket launching assault rifles, laser guns, plasma weapons, electric arc weapons, man-portable autocannons and more are easily available to the Helldivers and Super Earth is more than happy to dispense these weapons relatively easily.
As for the Brumak issue, i'm sorry to say that Helldivers constantly face dozens of Brumak targets and dispense with them surprisingly easy and yes Bile titans are bigger than Brumaks (are they stronger, that is debatable).
Plus if we go into the anti-armor warfare, remember that the Helldivers are also constantly fighting a fully automated race, that loves to bring in Tanks and Star Wars style AT-AT's and the Helldivers still come out on top.
All this to say that on the ground the Helldivers are far more dangerous than you give them credit for, even without accounting for the difference in size between Helldivers and Gears and unlike the Gears who literally lost a war (no dad super-weapon Locust win), the Helldivers and Super Earth have conquered a galaxy against similar and worse opponents than the Locust and won once and they are on their way to doing it again.

For me it made no visible sense when in game and lore wise it never stated anywhere about helldivers having any weapon restrictions of any kind. 100% man. They also would also realistically just deploy en masse on cities, military bases, and key infrastructure with large forces complete whatever destruction they deem necessary and then leave in like 40 minutes back into space. Meanwhile it takes the gears days to travel anywhere. Gears would be pretty limited to just infantry because Super Earth would totally just shoot down any helicopter that the Gears have and as far as we know they don't really have any dedicated anti air platforms, not even fighter jets. Easy W for Super Earth.

@@Leprechaunlock I got nothing else to say your comments are all spot on. Furthermore the enemies of super earth are extrimly dangerous. Yes helldivers die not cos of stupidity (not entirely) A lot of times they die cos of the shire amount of enemies they have to kill. There are billions of enemies with you just having not enough of ammunition to shoot them all before one mistake gets made and you get eaten alive or get blown to kingdom come by a storm of missiles that one automaton fired. You can't win wars when the enemies numbers are down right limitless something that gears just do not have.

In the mission in his childhood home, we get to see his weight set from before he left and it was well over 3000 pounds if I remember right. I don't think you give the Helldivers kit enough credit, and honestly after 500 hours and rank 105 in this game, their nerfs are usually pretty reasonable, and they also buff other weapons, including the mech which can take a reasonable hit since May. Your average grunt can carry a rifle, a side arm, and a support weapon. That's a lot of firepower, sure the COGs can carry just as much but you also said that they are pre-locust. That means a lot less guns to choose from, like a lot of the Locust made heavy weapons such as the grinder, boomshot, or shredder.
For the average COG grunt I would use either a JAR-5 Dominator for the armor pen and explosive damage to right through their body armor and kill them in 1 or 2 shots each, or I would go with a sickle with it's pretty reasonable damage, an optic that lets me see and shoot further away than the COG can with his innaccurate lancer sporting only ironsights. It also has unlimited ammo so long as you don't got cyclic on it. If I was only dealing with COG infantry, then I would definetetly use either the Stalwart, the BELT FED grenade launcher, or even an autocannon cause fuck 'em.
Centaur "tanks" would be a threat, but nothing that Helldivers can't kill pretty easily and from good distance with a Spear, Quasar, or Recoiless rifle.
King Raven Helicopters? Spear, Autocannon, or even the heavy machine gun could do it. They're tough but helos have the same weakness no matter the design. Shoot the props a bunch with an auto cannon or a HMG and it's toast. Also as far as we know the COG have little to no aircraft let alone fighters. So you also have 450,000 Eagle Fighter Bombers that can easily establish air dominance and just rule the battlefields making any COG vehicle from air, sea, and land pretty much dead to rights.
Two things that are also overlooked, is that Helldivers work in teams of 4 for the games sake and that they fight enemies I would be terrified to fight as a COG soldier. The reason why Helldivers life expectancy is so low is because they are expected to fight stupidly strong enemies. Also in a real war they would definitely attack en masse, and if it were me in charge and I bet you that as satirical as they are, the Helldivers would still be used wisely.
The Helldivers biggest advantage is that they can deploy anywhere in the world they want to at a moments notice while the COG have the use their very susceptible infrastructure that would maintain their war effort, is left vulnerable. And then they can extract back in to space to redeploy shortly thereafter. Industry is great so long as you can protect it.
TLDR is that Super Earth would as you said easily take out their Hammer of Dawn platforms in space, identify targets from infrastructure to military bases and wipe them out from orbit or mass drop entire battalions worth of helldivers on them at a time with all their firepower and then extract back to space before the COG can really respond with any meaningful force. The lightmass weapons would run out very quickly and from what we know they didn't have many of them, and their big cannons probably couldn't reach the ships out in high orbit.

I actually thought of a fun way how Locust War COG things are ruined because its a huge mix of a lot of systems from history over the years and its for a fan fiction I've thought about over the many months.
*She knew of the COG's tendency to use wave tactics and knew those either the old, the young, the weak, the sick, and the imprisoned were all they could afford, and what was needed in the present yet understood they weren't a long term solution but even then they vary in quality since these people are either undertrained, unfamiliar or those Hoffman called 'chew ups' since they were inadequate in training when it comes to weapons and tactics, which leads to poor performances in the field with high losses as a result. Training was also hampered to two to four months if also at times shorter lived with additional training received at the front such as sniping, reconnaissance, and unit tactics, especially at the company and platoon level with those who replaced officers being field armies that were offered a extra three month course for junior officer candidates, leaving the majority who barely held any academics to start with to rise in the ranks of divisional commanders or even chief of staff along with those who held political connections or their political positions.*
*They were building up so many units that there was a shortage of experienced officers to command them, and the Gears came straight out of basic training. So, there was some understanding that the units were green and that the officers were probably promoted too quickly and both groups needed time to drill together to become a well functioning unit, so the Gears would end up doing a ton of training every chance they could to make up for the lack of training and experience they had prior to their posting. To not only replace the losses at the front, but to also create a reserve, leaving the COG in creating the Reserve Armies Administration, which holds a rotating system where one spends a year within the arm forces and if you have experience then you are transferred to the garrison.*
*People often forget that what they see are amateurs at their worse. The Army itself is small. Professional Gears a small minority, with most staying in CONUS and trained volunteers and draftees. The ones overseas are often staff and logistics officers. Combat professionals like Marcus Fenix or Dom are a rarity.*
THIS to me explains how we see more Gears in Gears of War 2 and how they managed it all despite the massive situation they're in.

I think bro forget how ez a human can die . U said the gear is very similar and if a helldiver can kill another helldiver , it won’t last them much longer to kill a cog solider. The technological difference won’t win the war the mass would where helldiver will ez win .

So one of the problems is that super earth is beset on two fronts already. I don’t think they would be able to call in their whole fleet for this. Also the gears have access to mortars, MLRS systems, and silverbacks which are smaller than helldiver mechs but still pack the same punch.

Honestly i do think the helldivers can win because if you think about it were never given a number of seaf or super earth armed forces and helldivers in lore not game wise so it could be bigger then we think also super earth could learn from the cog and create better Wepons and armor to combat the gears heck we could get better training if we learn from them. Also no im not copeing i just like this match up it more fair then helldivers vs warhammer 40k

I sincerely think you are misinformed.
There’s a lot to cover. And I can’t do it justice in a simple comment on TH-cam. But I’ll try.
Right out the gate you give the helldivers only 11 million men. I am genuinely baffled, when there’s is literally an impossible to miss active death counter in the game. Super earth has comfortably thrown no less than 1.9 billion helldivers into the meat grinder. They have, at this time, killed 82 billion terminids, and automatons.
To say nothing of the fact that super earth has comparable numbers of special forces that the cog has people.
So at present it’s a ratio of about 40:1 kills per dead diver. This number of almost two billion is corroborated by the devs talking about the player driven story of the game, and the fact that super earth asked the helldivers to trash 2 billion automatons and still managed 78% per the June update. And this failure to do so tangibly affected the story of the game.
There is a fact that cannot be understated; and it’s the most significant one, but it makes the scenario less interesting than it already is: helldivers do not need to even meet the cog in combat to win. Domination of space, is the beginning and end of the fight - especially if we hold that helldivers with less numbers than we know they have cannot win on the ground as you assert.
If you decide to move your ship in orbit at the galaxy map, you can actually see the distance it crosses. I personally just calculated my ship crossing about 3,900km in ten seconds (coming to a stop far faster than it accelerates mind you.).
This manifests as a super destroyer taking a merry jaunt from London to the heart of the us faster than it takes you to eat a sandwich. And it’s actually one of the lower measurements I’ve taken. It works out just shy of 8000 gees, but I’ve personally found examples of up to 15,000 gees.
The implications of this are literally earth shattering.
The game tutorial notes that a single super earth destroyer has a 2000 megatons of explosive ordnance on board, or two gigatons. Which isn’t a tremendous amount, but it’s still 20 Tsar bombas from one single destroyer to swing around. Which the cog effectively cannot defend against. Even if we generously take your assumptions for the amount of orbitals.
But this 2000 megaton stat says nothing about the fact the super destroyer itself has beam and energy weaponry it can utilise. Or, most simply: A relativistic kill Missile.
If we use that generous low number of 7950 gees, and say a super earth destroyer decides to take one for the team (as we see automatons regularly shoot super destroyers down in orbit.) and simply evacuate the ship but leave the foot on the gas, we will see this:
(I am assuming a small ass super destroyer is only around 7000 tons, which we can quibble over the details but the end result will be the same.)
Ten seconds of acceleration before impact: 500 megatons of kinetic damage, plus the ordnance.
One minute of acceleration: 18 gigatons of impact damage.
It would take an hour for the super destroyer constantly accelerating in space to hit the gears at 0.9c. At that speed, the planet gets hit with 66 teratons of force. 66% of the force of impact that killed the dinosaurs. The war ends right there.
The cog and the locust are practically obliterated for the low low cost of one single unmanned super destroyer. The locust likely survive in the wasteland, as they’re an underground civilisation, but the cog become a non entity within an hour of super earth declaring the world a part of managed democracy.
At these speeds, the destroyer need not even sacrifice itself. It can strap a few asteroids to the hull, and push, before separating. It really is that simple. There’s nothing gears’ planet can do against this.
At these lower end speeds, it takes a super destroyer five megatons per second to accelerate.
And if the survivors decide to continue to resist? There’s plenty more super destroyers as you yourself acknowledge.
    --
So with that out the way, the actual interesting part of the match would be the ground combat.
Even if we accept your numbers for helldivers being the low numbers of 11 million (which I don’t.), I’m extremely skeptical the gears would win.
Every single helldiver is equipped up the gills with special ordnance and equipment they can call in anywhere on the surface of the planet and in seconds. They can call in both personal shields and halo style bubble shields they can shoot from behind. They can each wield heavy weaponry and deploy minefields or gas attacks. Gatling turrets, mortars, rocket launchers. It’s genuinely insane. And they can do this in seconds. The gears do not have the means to replicate this.
Are you aware that helldivers are modified? The levels of augmentations is vague, but Helldivers 1 notes that with a certain augment allows the troopers to spring a marathon, and that was one hundred years ago.
Every trooper is equipped with stims, which the information provided by the tutorial general confirms can heal even broken limbs in seconds. Even the ships crews are coked up on meth and steroids lol.
I haven’t done the topic a fraction of the justice it’s worth. But there’s so much else I have not covered. Fighter support, mechs, etc. it’s not a fight. It’s over in hours.
Locust is another story. But I can’t imagine it’s much different.

I didn’t even note the quote from your shipmaster that a super destroyer has enough ordnance to level a small moon. I simply take this as further corroboration of the 2000 megaton stat
