    • @MisterHen

      I am not completely sure as the paper was given as a gift from one of my student's. I believe I was using my 24" ruler if that helps.

    hey man i m very doof at drawing but i suck in math
    what do you think can i have a future as an architect even if i m not good in math because you can t just draw something from imagination and build it .You need to calculate all those formulas if you want that house to stand up .so my answer is that is important math for an architect

    • @MisterHen
      @MisterHen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think math is an important skill but it eventually goes beyond the needs of an architect. I would say learn math to the extent that it helps your craft. If you need to pick up more math for a special project, I would do it as needed. Just my opinion.

    How do you determine if vanishing points need to be off the paper, and how do you measure in those instances?

    • @MisterHen
      @MisterHen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, sorry for the late reply. You use a larger piece of paper underneath and tape the smaller one down on top. that way your vanishing points stay consistent and wide enough to get the effect you want.

    Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me when to use the different perspectives? Not how, but when. I know how to use them I just don't know when you should use one point and when you should use two point and when you should use three point perspective. In which case scenario would you use each of them? Thanks!

      Sorry for the late reply. I think of 1 point perspective being most effective when drawing tunnel scenes, pathways, train tracks, roads, mountain paths, alleyways, hallways or anytime you want the viewer to have a tunnel focus directly ahead of them. I think of two point perspective for interior and exterior spaces where you want see objects in various places within the environment or anytime you want the viewer to visually explore different parts of the composition. As for 3 point perspective, I am not as familiar with it, so I can't really speak to its use.

      I'm sorry your professor doesn't teach you how to do this, but am so glad I could help. As you familiarize yourself with the process you'll be amazed how quickly you can sketch out believable ideas. Let me know if you need any other video tutorials and I will try to accommodate you.

    I have one question I never find an answer to. How far can one know to place the two vanishing points. Because that creates the angle of the roof. That's the first question. Do you just guess? Thanks for the good video. These videos are such a service and I am grateful for them.

    • @MisterHen
      @MisterHen  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Melissa Lundberg find the middle of the front or foremost wall and extend a line up vertically as tall as you want the peak of your roof. From the top of that line draw a guideline back to its vanishing point. This guideline serves as the ridge line for your roof. The top of the vertical line also serves as your point of reference to draw the angled lines down to the top corners of the foremost wall (giving you the angles of the roof for the foremost portion). To keep the angle of the roof consistent as it goes back into space you must repeat the process you used on the foremost wall to create your vertical line. Only this time you find the middle of the back wall and extend a vertical line up until it meets the ridge line of your roof. This point of intersection allows you to accurately create the angles of the roof that meet up with the back top corners of the house. Please respond if you'd like a vid to clarify.

      I really appreciate this. I never learned to draw buildings because of this one question. I have to try and think on your words and do them simultaneously to really GET it! If you do a video to clarify, I am sure a lot of people would appreciate it. Thank you many times for efforts in behalf of others!! I just subscribed.

    • @MisterHen
      @MisterHen  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Think of it in terms of basic 3d shapes. Cube, cylinder, cone & sphere. Think of the body as a cube and the wheels as cylinders. Draw the shapes with a very light line-weight. Once you have the basic shapes in place, start refining the basic shapes to be more elegant and realistic using a light line-weight. Study what you've got and with a medium line-weight darken the details that look good. I'll try to post a video to help with this in a few weeks.

    This is good for artists, but not adequate for doing architectural rendering. It doesn't provide a way to establish the locations of elements accurately to a real subject. This method relies on the artist's eye, which is good enough for art, but not for rendering.

    • @MisterHen
      @MisterHen  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. This is a very basic look at 2 pt. perspective for artists. If you would like a more comprehensive look at this technique I highly recommend checking out th-cam.com/users/scottrobertsondesign Scott Robertson can definitely take your skills to a higher level and give you useful information to render objects in space.

    • @deezynar
      @deezynar 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't complaining about your video, merely pointing out that this isn't for architects. Of course, architects & architectural drafters are mostly using 3D CAD software now and wouldn't need to manually draw a perspective rendering. I don't use 3D CAD, and was recently asked to do a rendering and hadn't done a proper perspective in ages, so I was looking for a tutorial to refresh my memory. I did find a couple, BTW. Your video is perfectly adequate for artists.
