Thanks for this !!! I am pursuing art in my 50s as my mid life crisis hobby. Seeing how to rotate boxes on vertical or horizontal axis really helps simplify the process for simple sketching.
Most people make this so hard to understand. You know that TH-camr moderndayjames I got his gumroad class on dynamic sketching and he goes over rotation. It was so mathematical I couldn't follow. It was like Scott Robertson how to draw it was like a different language. I don't want to learn math equations to draw thank you.
Yeah there is a lot of information in his videos. Once it gets too technical I kinda check out as well. I don’t want to draw using all those lines. I know the idea is to learn how things look and then not use all the lines … but as a beginner I think trying to get too perfect holds you back from getting a good enough understanding and being able to use it in practice. I don’t want to learn math … lol 😆
I've been trying to get his gumroad for a while but I cannot afford it with the currency of my country, I know it might be weird to ask but is there anyway you can share it ?🙏🏿
@@king_koby9591 I only got one lesson from his package. I think it was the dynamic sketching and it wasn't that useful in my opinion. But I don't believe in sharing others artists work. It's already extremely hard to make any money as an artist so it wouldn't be right share their products with other people. Same thing with the proko stuff. He says not to share it when people could. Other websites use software to block out any sharing capability but he doesn't because I guess he trusts his users.
Genius discovery my friend! Another thing I found was a video by ModerndayJames. He discusses how to draw the correct right angles when rotating cubes from any perspective (even wide angles). It’s basically using an ellipse as a clock face and the right angles would be 3 hours apart if a clock was seen from that angle.
Bro, I've been struggling to rotate boxes (without doing them all on a grid) for quite a few years. Thank you so much for this, none explained it this way ever! If you find anything on cylinders (my bane) please share!
Wow thanks! Yes I have done the same. And funny thing lol 😆… I already told myself that one day I need to solve cylinders the same way. Lol 😂 … will definitely share when I crake that code. ☺️
Art TH-camrs try not to make rotating a box a unbelievably complicated maths lesson that probably requires 12 different degrees to understand(LEVEL IMPOSSIBLE) but hey this guy managed to do it
I glad to hear that you found this useful. I know the pain of struggling with getting boxes to behave. Next up one day I’ll figure out how to get those pesky ellipses to behave.
This is so much easier. Every other video uses angles and math and i immediately check out and can't follow along. I like how intuitive this is without being super overwhelming
but this seems to be working only in 2-point perspective. What if I want those vertical lines ( lines that are revolve around) to convege in a vanished poing?
@penpomvx9228 that is true, especially when you apply 3 or even 4 and 5pt perspective. I think for me it's a good start and then I can branch out to 3pt because all the math and and angles confuse me so much 😅
@@penpomvx9228it’s easy bro, just converge them. it’s a simple adjustment. you’re taking a isometric cube and making it converge back to the VPs instead of being parallel
@@penpomvx9228also, it’s just about lens like he said in the video. moderndayjames has a video where he talks about short and long lenses and drawing a truck over it.
Hey hopefully I help few persons with this video. I took draw a box and still never “really “ understood box rotation … I understood boxes but couldn’t easily make them do what I wanted.
Yes artwhat, it definitely has. I can’t wait to share what I have been doing lately. I was trying to solve a problem when I went back and uncovered this and wow I’m excited!
I would want to see that too. I still find it hard to do this. That method where you draw the ellipse within the box with the horizon line thing. I find that confusing@@canilearntodraw2579
You know I had this on the list but I felt the video was already getting so long and it was the same as the rotation on the corner which is a bit harder. Sorry. Maybe in some other video.
Thank you sir amazing video can i ask a question do you know Solo artist curriculum by radiorunner certified by moderndayjames can you take a quick look at it is it good
I have never heard of that one. However, I would recommend that one moves away from is it good towards, is it meeting my learning goals. If you don’t have learning goals then it’s probably just do I like the art? There is a lot of great content out there and a lot of great teachers. Other than that probably just google a review. If there are no reviews then that would be a red flag. However you said moderndayjames says it’s good. So I guess the next step would be does it fit your learning goals and do you like the art from the course previews.

Yeah sometimes I wonder if this is my midlife crisis hobby as well. I feel you. Glad to know that this has helped you move forward.
Hobbies in mid life are no crisis. Not having hobbies before mid life is a serious crisis.
You sound so happy and excited about that! I'm glad :)
lol. Yeah I was actually excited. I was trying to catch how this works for a while.

the time practicing on screen is such a good idea
Thank you so much for this. I feel so much better about the damn boxes now.
You’re welcome. Glad to be of assistance!

Very helpful. Thanks!
Great tutorial. I never thought about this method. Thank you!
Looks super interesting and more than enough for art needs of a lot of people. Thank you for sharing!
That’s for the feedback!

Glad I could help. All the best on your journey!
Great Exercise!
This video is amazing it has helped me so much to understand how to draw boxes, thank you !!!

Tips and tricks videos will always be goated thanks for posting
Appreciate it!
brother i have been struggling with this concept for sometime it's so crazy how i didn't think of this earlier
Thanks
Thanks! So glad this could be useful to someone else on this art journey!
Thank you! I really struggle with boxes and rotating them.

honestly seing your progress is astonishing have you ever considered making your own video tutorial or book to teach beginner ?
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe one day. To be continued ☺️
Makes a lot of scenes :) thanks for sharing
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it!
Got a video on how to rotate on the center axis tho?
Dang. If I continue to get requests about this I might have to redo the video. Thanks 😊

Can demonstrate the box rotating on its center.

Plase make a video for wide lense too 😭
Wish it was darker can't see the lines.
I guess I need to experiment with the bolder fine liner.
Can you take the mic further from your mouth, i can hear the volume of saliva in your mouth. Thanks for tips haha
lmao no way
thank youuu!!!! i was hating this so much
