Would like a confirmation from someone. I have a quest 2 headset with my paid games and I’m the primary user. My son is heading off to collage and is buying his own to use there. If setup properly he can share my games at his new place? Sorry newbie here…lol
From what I gather, you need to sign in as primary to his one too. Then make him a 2nd user on his own. So it's like to you own both quests and you are the main user. But you only tick app share on the device that you want him to access your games, which is the one he will have. That way he is the 2nd account user and can use your games you bought under your name. If he created his name as the primary on his and you as 2nd, it would not work.

I purchased an add-on under the primary account, but I can't seem to get them shared on the secondary account. Does app sharing only work for the actual app only and not the add-on packages? Or maybe it only works on games that are purchased as opposed to add-on's for free games?
Hmm interesting question! I'm not sure about that, but I would recommend reaching out to the game devs, I'm sure they'll be happy to provide you all the info about that specific game and it's game sharing policy. Good luck!

I need some help so me and my brother both have headsets and have both both games on our own headsets but recently found out about this but he has more games then me so I added his account to my oculus and I have none of his games even tho we turned on app sharing and everything is there a reason for that?
No it doesn’t work that way. you can’t share games from a secondary account to a primary account, only from primary to secondary, so basically if you want to have access to your friend’s games, his account needs to be primary on your headset and you should add your account as secondary.
@@DiscoVRTetiana so all I’d have to do is factory reset my headset sign in with his account then sign into mine afterwards? Or is there another way to do it

I have my Q2 and am considering giving my Q1 to my youngest brother. So I'm hoping that he may use all the games and experience I have loaded on it. Should I set him up as a secondary account on my Quest 2 and have him log in himself (using his Facebook login) on the Q1 to see if it works? Not quite sure how the best way to handle all of this would be. He lives in the next state over and will be visiting this week. I am hoping to bestow my Q1 on him then. I just want to make sure I'm telling him correctly how this all works. I understand that if HE wants to buy a game and install it on the Q1 then I won't have access to it. Not a problem. Also. I have Virtual Desktop and have been using my link cable to play Oculus Rift games as well as PCVR games via Steam. How will all of that work with app sharing, or will it? Thanks in advance.
App sharing is only working on Quest 2 headsets (unfortunately), so you won't be able to share the games with your brother is he has Quest 1. Also, as far as I know, app sharing only works for Quest games, not PCVR systems. Yeah, it's definitely not perfect :/ you'll only benefit from it if you have two Oculus Quest 2 in your household to share Quest games
No, unfortunately only the primary account can share games with one secondary account, but you can't get access to the games bought on secondary accounts :/
Trying to find the best way to set up so my daughter can play but from the sound of it, the best thing to do is to leave my daughter as the primary and to just make a secondary account for my self. So my daughter doesn’t loose the friend list she has already made and the game progresses that is already attached to the primary account.
I think it's worth pointing out that contrary to the promise in the Oculus blog post dated 18th February, " App Sharing applies automatically to all new apps in the Oculus Quest Store from this date forward.", it appears that The Climb 2, released on 4th March, does not offer App Sharing. I bought it a couple of days ago and have played it for a few hours. When I checked the secondary account on the same headset, it's not there. Very disappointing.

Can someone else verify. I know this isn't ideal for multiple headsets but if the scenario is just 2 headsets - it should work fine right? Turn on app sharing Oculus 1 primary Oculus 2 primary user signs in, then sets it to secondary user login. It looks as though the only downfall to this method is that the second person can't take advantage of referral store credit. If the second oculus is already set up, will it have to be factory reset to accomplish appsharing
Hi Johnny, everything you said sounds correct! Factory reset will allow you to change the primary account and then simply log in to your secondary account from that one. Unfortunately it only works with 2 headsets, not more
I have two Facebook accounts. One is for friends and one is for work. The friends account, I use a nick name. My work account I use my real name. Can I add the other account to Oculus so that I keep my work friends and regular friends separate when on VR?
yes you should be able to! That's how me and my husband play! On the second headset, log in with the secondary account and make sure app sharing is turned on on the primary account.
Hi- this is the best explanation but I, would you be able to clarify something for me please? I'm looking to get my boys a headset each for christmas If I set up a primary on both headsets with my Facebook . Then created 1 secondary account on each headset for my kids . Can I then let both of them sign in on each of these headsets with their own account and they can both play games together using a game from my primary account? Or would 1 of these headsets have to be logged in on mine? (I hope that makes sense I think I re wrote it about 10 times haha!!)
hey! Unfortunately, it turns out that a primary account can only share apps with ONE secondary account. I did not know that at the time I was making the video because I couldn't test it at the time. So, one headset would have to be logged in with the primary account, and another headset has to have a seconary account added and logged in, so two people can play the same game online at the same time.
Will beat saber ever get family sharing?
I want to belive that eventually the beat saber developers will make it compatible with this feature
@@DiscoVRTetiana yeah me and my cousin were planning to game share since she recently got beat saber. So I got kind of sad when I noticed beat saber didn’t support app sharing
@@skinwalkur I hear ya :/ pretty much every Quest 2 owner has beat saber so it's a bummer
I find it pretty ridiculous that the biggest game on the platform that people love playing in a party setting doesn't use this feature from the start. Are they seriously expecting every person using the same headset to purchase the game and DLC just to put their own name on high scores? This is an issue standard consoles fixed three generations ago.
I so hard I have an acc but my brothers acc I set up first so once I set up a headset to the app it doesn’t show up
Great job explaining this. Thank you
And it seems like you can't view share with the app bc I don't know how to add extra profile the the phone app yet
I am extremely confused 1st of all how do I find out which one is my primary account because OCULUS on my PC forces me to sign in with a vertain account...but on my headset it seems i have another account...BUT THEY ARE MERGED!!! But for some reason cross buy is not working...im super confused.... Anyone's help is welcome... Also how do I find out what is the email address that I have oninside my headset...i cant see it on settings nor profile
Making the decision to buy 1 or 2 for our family, can you play together using multiplayer if you used app sharing? Thanks so much for explaining this!
When I remove the headset from my head and put it back on, it shows the annoying "Switch user" or "Continue" prompt EVERY TIME. Very annoying. Any way to circumvent this? I wish it would only show it when you turn the headset on initially, or not at all.
Help very appreciated :)
Thank you for the info. Btw Are contractors available to app share?
This is cool my friend is going to save up his chore money and buy Quest 2 and once he does that I will give him my account
Sounds great! :)
Is the pin the same for both accounts?
Ive got five sets what am I supposed to do?
I have a question! Is it possible to have my friend’s headset set up with my account as admin account and him being able to use my game despite he lives far away in different city?
Where can I find the "Shared" games on the second account?. I enable share apps, tried looking on different tabs and the "Shared" one that appear at the bottom of the list is empty. Did multiple restarts and factory reset, still don't work. Any clues?
Maybe try logging into the main account and go download the games and boom..... Let me know if it works cause im just guessing.
@@ytSmiles3x well I ended up contacting oculus support and don't know for sure if they did something but now it works. I left the headsets connected to usb and not use them for a day, after that I check it again and it was working 😕. So, a mystery..
I have a quest 1 and 2 does it work for 1?
Thank you, this helped.
Thank you so much for this video it really helped! Now my only question/concern is for add-on's.
Good luck!
Do i have to be logged into my friends acct to play his games? Or can i download it to my acct?
Still struggling Iam seeing both the same apps in both headsets but them when we both go in a game on shuts down so then i add a account and I then Iam seeing no apps which are Lurton the first one , Iam baffled 😮, got the kids one for Christmas the got the second today amd I don’t know what to do next , hellllpppppppp
Can primary and secondary account play together ?
yes, absolutely! :)
But can I join the other person if I'm on primary and my friends is on secondary?
I just purchased a second quest 2 so i can play games with my son but i only have one facebook account because of Facebook strict rules, i thought you can only have one Facebook account and i buy all my sons games. So how would i be able to use the second quest when Facebook only allows one account for an individual. And my son is only 12.
Or is there another way to do it
Yes it would work that way! Then you just continue using your headset from your account as secondary
So me and my friend set up app sharing on both of our headsets so he has my account on his headset and I have his account on my headset to get app sharing to work will only one of us be able to share games with the other. Like would I have to take off app sharing on my headset to be able to download the apps on my headset
Is there a way to change the primary user account?
Still slightly confused. So I have a q2. Considering going to get a 2nd because my son loves to play and we are tired of Sharing but don't wanna have to buy all the games again. So I would use my FB account on my first quest as my primary account. Buy the 2nd put my FB account as the primary on that one as well, but then use my wife's fb account to play the games on the 2nd quest?
Will I be able to use population one on share
Can you have one headset to another headset ?
If im using a headset on primary account and my friend is on another headset 'leaching' can we still play multi-player games together, or does the game need to be purchased again
Seems like no one can answer that question it’s sooooo annoying the whole reason we are watching these videos is to GAME SHARE WITH FRIENDS!!!!!
@@elismoothie8896 factsss like Oculus know damn well we don't want this shit
@@CameoKillz so I just did it with my friend an all you have to do is reset your friends oculus, and have them sign into it using your Facebook account on the oculus app itself, once that’s done have them go to experimental options then add app sharing an have them add their account an voila you both can now play the same games at the same time.
@@elismoothie8896 thank you, finally got some answers
So do I have to do a factory reset on the other headset to make my main a primary on them
Yes, you will need to make sure that one and the same account is set as primary on both headsets, and a factory reset of the only way to do that
@@DiscoVRTetiana and to download games on the 2nd headset it has to be on my account then they can switch to their account after its done downloading or do they see the apps I own without switching to my account
So my wife and I both have Quest 2's now (we both had Quest 1s originally). She gave her son her Q1, and is currently using her Q2.
@@DiscoVRTetiana Thanks. I'll just load the Q1 up with games I think he'll enjoy before I send him home with it.
so one with both accounts and then one just with the primary account?
Does this mean I could add my friends account on my quest and have access to his games?
No, unfortunately only the primary account can share games with one secondary account, but you can't get access to the games bought on secondary accounts :/
Trying to find the best way to set up so my daughter can play but from the sound of it, the best thing to do is to leave my daughter as the primary and to just make a secondary account for my self. So my daughter doesn’t loose the friend list she has already made and the game progresses that is already attached to the primary account.
Awesome tutorial
well explained!
😳 this is outrageous, very disappointing indeed!
Hello! I have two headsets, one for dad and one for me.
I’d like to have completely separated accounts but don’t know how to do it?
What should I do to completely separate them?
TIA!
Just use two different Facebook accounts and two different oculus accounts
Sign into each of your head sets with a different facebook account to make it primary :) but keep in mind that you won't be able to share any games with each other
@@DiscoVRTetiana that’s the way I have it right now. Actually my headset is completely new and as soon as I turned it on for the first time it automatically opened in my dad’s account. I opened my FB account on mine and dad has his own on his headset but mine still shows only dad’s.
Pardon my ignorance with this cause I know better and I know how to fix this situation but this time I’m lost and confused.
I’m trying to do this but when I hit continue it say something went wrong 😑
So can primary user share steam games with a secondary user?
What’s the jellyfish thing? I want one :)
Wait so can i game share with my friend with a diffrent headset and a primary account
I just got the quest 2 and don't have the option:-(
I don’t see that option in experimental features
I factory reset the second account
An I log in to the oculus quest app with my Facebook account but the new headset isn't pairing with my account
Is it because my old oculus quest2 headset already paired with my profile how would connect to the new
My second account isnt saving game data for some reason does anyone know why
can i gameshare with my friend??
Does this still work , I have 4 vr sets
hello! i’m super late to this video but if you see this please help me!! i’m trying to make a secondary account to make gorilla tag videos on.. but when i take videos on it doesn’t share to my admin or primary account. is there a way i can make it do that because i don’t want to have to switch accounts to make videos.. please help me
hey! app sharing is for sharing apps only, I'm not sure how you can share the videos you record :/
@@DiscoVRTetiana Thank you for responding !! i’ll try to do some research but thanks you for your help have a great day!!😁
@@DiscoVRTetiana Hey update i’m super dumb but i just realized i could share to facebook!! have a great a day :))
Can someone else verify. I know this isn't ideal for multiple headsets but if the scenario is just 2 headsets - it should work fine right?
Turn on app sharing
Oculus 1 primary
Oculus 2 primary user signs in, then sets it to secondary user login.
Can there be 2 primary accounts
Thanks chick 😘
Can you do a video on how to make a oculus quest two video full screen (1920x1080)
does this work for bear saber?
Unfortunately not on beat saber :(
This is confusing simply saying do I use one oculus account and one fb account for both
we have 2 headsets, one has the game,2 accounts, can we play bowling against each other?
yes you should be able to! That's how me and my husband play! On the second headset, log in with the secondary account and make sure app sharing is turned on on the primary account.
@@DiscoVRTetiana so turn off app sharing on the 2nd headset?
So if I have 2 headsets on the same account I can't invite myself to play...hmm
Hi- this is the best explanation but I, would you be able to clarify something for me please? I'm looking to get my boys a headset each for christmas
If I set up a primary on both headsets with my Facebook .
That's how me and my hubby play :)
@@DiscoVRTetiana I have two headsets where i am primary. On the second headset I added a secondary. When I use secondary login on second headset I don't see any of the shared games. I can only see all games if I use primary account on second headset. What am I doing wrong? Tks
HELP! I am so lost. We now have 4 headsets in our household and for the life of me I cannot get it straight. I bought a game but it appears to be on the wrong headset.
Same problem. Did you find an answer? :-)
