      I don't know where to find parts for your Hupp.

    Do you have to use the clutch to activate it? And can you shift while driving? Thanks for the video!

      You do indeed need to incage the clutch to shift. You should be fully stopped before trying to change ranges.

    What is the most common Sherman transmission?

    We had a 9N with an auxiliary three speed transmission the had the handle on the right side of the tractor. Do you have any information about this set up?

      On the right side of the tractor with lever before the main tans closer to bellhousing would probably be a Hupp or an F&T auxiliary trans. If the handle was located after the main trans on the round side cover it would be a howard trans

    It is the Sherman and a Hupp transmission the same…
    I see a couple Hupp over/under transmissions on eBay but I’m not sure about them so I’m reluctant to buy it

      Hupp and sherman are not the same trans although they are similar. I would only buy from someone who deals with sherman trans rather then someone on ebay who is parting out tractors looking to make a quick buck. Condition is a big factor with these units.

    I have the sherman combination Im sure based off video but I can't get it to shift at all. So no idea if I'm in standard range or high range. Any help would be great

      I just test drove an 8n with a hi-low Sherman. It sounds like yours is in standard position. Try pushing the lever towards the engine while in the middle neutral position. Then you should have low range in forward and high when pulled back.

    Sherman Transmissions can I shif from low to high range old 601 Ford tractor when rolling

    • @kirk-nj6344
      @kirk-nj6344  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The sheman transmission was not a shift on the fly transmission. I would not recommend you do that. That said there are people that do this at a slow roll but if the gears are not lined up it's possible to chip or break gears. Other than wear parts the other parts in the trans can be expensive. I have quite a collection on them and I do not sell parts. I just put a combo in my 641 this passed week. Since you have a 601 series in 1958 at serial number 14256 they chained the input shaft from a course spline to a fine spline along with the nose cone. if you serial is above that number you will have the fine spline shaft which are harder to find the than the earlier course spline ones. The shermans were very good trans and can last for many years if you take care of them.
