Thank you so much Andrea for responding to my comments. So very gracious of you. I do indeed like your information so much and you are so beautiful and sweet in each of your videos. Being an American is very important too . We all should love America however many today do not and want to do away with the Constitution. Thank you again.

@@PineandProspectHome I agree Mary is so talented. She painted her bathroom floors. Also I am a stockist for Frenchic Chalk & Mineral Paint. I am not trying to sell you anything, I am sure you could find someone close, or go online but my point is they have a line called Al Fresco that you can use for outdoor furniture, doors etc., or bathrooms. I have seen other stockists paint some amazing bathroom floors, tiles and stairs. On Facebook there is a Frenchic Fan Forum that people post their projects. You have great tastes. Have fun. Oh also check out Jami Ray Vintage here on YT. They are restoring a 1917 Farmhouse and they are only using vintage/antique vanities and mirrors in the farmhouse.

Your channel is my newest obsession and has loosely spawned my current decorating style. I think painting the colored tiles in the bath is the perfect low cost solution! I absolutely LOVE the vanity after sanding it. I agree, a new mirror, maybe an antique is the way to go. Have you looked into peel and stick tiles for the floor? Color pop has some very vintage inspired ones. I did my bathroom for $40.

Yay can't wait to see what you do with your guest bathroom. Thanks for all the progress pics and other blogger's pics for inspo. I want to incorporate some more antiques into my little suite now. Btw I like your black mirror, maybe you could paint it white and keep your chrome light fixture. And incorporate some chrome decor on your counter and above the toilet. Or keep it black and paint on some green leaves on it or something to make it more interesting and rustic. Or paint the mirror green and spray paint the light fixture black.

Excellent, excellent job on the vanity!! I don’t know how I ever got along without my power sanders. They have transformed my house...and who knew sanding masks who be mandatory someday! 😉😉☺️☺️. You’ll love that room when you finish it! You really don’t need anything more than one great piece (the vanity) and a couple wonderful baskets and some fluffy towels!

Strip the bathroom sink mirror too ......
The light fixture above the sink I feel is whats adding the heaviness to the mirror, they are competing designs.
The mirror has its own swag
I see a simpler lighting fixture.
Or get another mirror of your choice and keep the lighting fixture.

I love your videos. We painted our 6 shades of blue tile with white Tough as Tile Paint. It worked like a charm. Maybe a soft tone on tone Painted checkerboard pattern. Erin used one on Home Town, She also did a argyle pattern on a wood floor. Maybe you could do a faux wood paint on the floor. Can't wait to see the finished reveal.

I love your vanity and think you will like it more now that you have lightened it. I also love your mirror, particularly the way it is shaped over the top which is reminiscent of Art Deco style, but I think you may like it more if you paint it a different colour? Maybe a shade of green to blend in with the green you chose for your wall panelling , which I think is a great idea by the way. I agree with you about your bathroom tiles that you need to tackle that strip. Good luck with your ideas and I shall look forward to seeing them take shape.

I have always loved a good green paint color. A few years back, a local Ethan Allen designer offered to come to my home and make suggestions for free. One of the things she told me in her many years of designing, was that she had a favorite green paint color that worked in every single home and every single lighting situation. So we tried it and we LOVE it and always get compliments by nearly all our guests...those that like green! It is Dry Sage by Benjamin Moore. Try a sample and see if it’s what you’re looking for! 😊

So many great ideas! My grandma has a cottage style home and she has smokey pastel blue painted bead board with the walls painted white above it in her bathroom that is absolutely adorable. • @sandraorganizationseeking1685
    @sandraorganizationseeking1685 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree. Try painting your mirror a light color (maybe duck egg blue or vintage green and leave the tile accents since they have green?) first before you spend money on a different mirror. I also was thinking maybe replace shower curtain w a longer shower curtain that is more ruffly or lacey and all white. You could put the shower curtain up closer to the ceiling and install a curtain that almost reaches the floor. I actually like your white bead board. You have a small utility closet/storage closet that is painted white. If you painted the bead board would paint that the same color? If you could photograph then photo copy the photo you could use markers or water color and see how things would look.

  • @conniemoore1654
    @conniemoore1654 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Painting checks or squares on the diagonal gives a room movement and an open feeling, imo. Also, maybe change the shower curtain to a neutral linen and raise it up as high as possible. I love my linen curtain from RH. I like the sanded vanity. Good luck! Look forward to watching this project.

Love your posts! We have done our bathroom twice since moving in 30 years ago. The second time we did it, we kept our white subway tile and actually chiseled the border tile and the inlay tile, similar to what you have, out and replaced it with black. The tiles were the exact same size as the previous ones so it was not too difficult. We did have our floor replaced with traditional black and white tile. Took the wall paper down and painted the walls white. It was pretty inexpensive and completely changed our 1910 bathroom. Looking forward to seeing your new guest bathroom!

Love this post. Totally understand making decisions that you later regret. I have a suggestion about your tub walls. We just installed luxury vynal tile in three bathrooms at a client's house. And I cannot say enough positive things about that product! They're peel and stick but you leave a space to grout them. It's a special grout made for the vynal. I was so inspired by the quality and ease of installation and the price! I quickly started thinking where else could I use this?! People use them for accent walls in kitchens , bathrooms, laundry rooms,I saw them used on boats in the bathroom areas, even shower walls! Anyways just thought you might consider it. Can't wait to see what you end up doing ❤️

I appreciate how thoughtful you are in your design process. It has yielded stunning results in your home. An antique mirror without a frame would tie in beautifully with your chrome light fixture. I love the idea of painting the accent tile in your tub surround. I am happy to hear you will not stencil your floor. Although it would be beautiful, like you mentioned, it would soon look dated. I love a checkerboard floor, but with your linoleum tiles so large, would you paint it a smaller scale? Whatever you decide will look amazing. Looking forward to seeing you pull it all together!

If you paint you bead-board, change your vanity and tones match, your tile will probably look better to you. Erin on Home Town does some painted checkered floors. Mary on TH-cam channel white cottage does a lot. Your home is beautiful.

Cute bathroom. Love that vanity you conjured up! I think the black/white checked floors are a vintage look. Have you thought of peel & stick floor tiles? I've read that they hold up quite well. Glad to hear that you painted your bathtub. Mine is from 1964 & yucky! Have thought of painting it. Also thought of painting the very, very BLUE tile that's everywhere in that room. I'm mulling things over also. Can't wait to see what you do!

You definitely should paint the trim tile also put a basket under the sink for towels and change out the towel rings, those scream 1980, instead use towel hooks even if you have to make them to match the vanity. I am sure you can find some to mimic. Also if you could find some vintage decorative pieces to add to the wall or vanity.

Love all your ideas. Do it all and I would love to see how and when you do the changes. You are very encouraging.

I think your bathroom is fine; it just needs to be fine-tuned. Rather than ignore your accent tile, embrace it and your room will look more cohesive. Use the pale blue, go a shade lighter and paint your walls. Use a white wicker mirror which will give you a country vibe. Use more white wicker baskets under the sink and look for some baskets that you could hang on the wall.

I think your ideas for refreshing the vanity, the mirror, light fitting and the wall where the long picture is are amazing. You have such a beautiful aesthetic in your home, I have no doubt you will pull it together beautifully. I would be a little cautious about short-term fixes in bathrooms when it comes to tiling and flooring however. If I were you I would leave the tiles and flooring until you can afford to replace them with something you love xx

I know how you feel about the glass tiles. I have them in the kitchen and bathroom and I’m so over them.

There is a great company called Wallpops and they do amazing floor tiles that are peel and stick. The patterns are gorgeous!

Love your mirror. Maybe when you get some of the other things done you will like it better.

I think you should commission yourself to paint a nice piece for over the toilet. 😁 Also, while the painted beadboard sounds lovely, it could make the room feel more like a cave. What about painting the sheetrock portion green, instead?
I do like your ideas of painting the tile. And as one other person suggested, why not paint the mirror? Maybe a metallic finish? I guess it would depend on what kind of green you go with, too. All of your ideas are good, though. 😊 Sounds like a fun project!

About adding artwork to your bathroom...I know a really sweet lady that paints beautiful landscapes...;-)
I love the lighter finish on the vanity! Great job!
I have seen some terrific, inexpensive bathroom floor makeovers using the new vintage pattern stick on tiles...maybe Floor Pops is the name?
Painting the accent tiles sounds like a great option! I did that to update a 1990’s shower in our former home and it was successful. There isn’t a lot of water or wear and tear up there, so it should hold up well. The trick may be in giving it some character so that it isn’t just a solid band of whatever color you choose. 🤷🏻‍♀️
What I DO know is that EVERYTHING you and your husband do turns out BEAUTIFUL, so I have confidence that this project will be no different. 😁

I rented a place with the ugliest bath tub and tile. The bathtub also had a window in it. What I did is I bought an extra long shower liner, sometimes you can find them at TJ Maxx or you can buy one off of Walmart.com. Then I bought 2 84 Long by 40 semi sheer linen curtain panels. I hung my rod higher then used curtain ring clips to hold the two, Liner and shears together. This created a softer light in the room, kind of like a lampshade. But it was beautiful and soft..... The only downside I would see, is if you have children using the bathroom on their own. The shower curtain doesn’t move as easy, and children are too short to reach the rod.

I think soft green wainscoting would be fantastic. I like the mirror and agree with those who say a lighter color would help. Love that you created your vanity. And yes to painting the accent tile. It is lovely but now doesn’t fit your vision for the home.

Painting that strip would be a good alternative to see what you’d like. However, tearing out just the strip to replace with a subway is an easy fix. Love the idea of the green. Also wallpaper on the upper portion with painted bead board would be awesome. Anything you do will be beautiful. Your ideas are always wonderful. Looking forward to your project. Loving the idea of lightning the vanity wood. Place your paintings in there. I get to move into my new place in August. It’s finished finally. I’m sooooo excited to place my copy of your painting I bought. It will be in my dining room.

Looking forward to seeing the bathroom updates. Whatever you do will turn out beautiful - you have the touch! One of your own paintings would be perfect for the wall; I am enjoying mine that I purchased. Happy 4th! God Bless America!
