Shameful Rammers of Forza Motorsport

  • As a Noob to sim racing, I thought I'd share my Forza Touring car experiences, my wins, my loses and my wtf moments. I try to explain my thought process, but text to speech in my head has data corruption.
    My strategy is simple, stay alive at all cost. We all know Forza Motorsport can be a little dicey at times. I hope with a more passive tactic, I can swoop in and take the position. While also improving on my own skills as a racing driver.
    Track learning is key, hopefully by reviewing my race choices and my mistakes, I can help others learn and improve upon their lap times. Thus making the racing world more fun and competitive.
    Skill, balls, trail and error are key to become a better driver. For which I am looking for, but I do have trail and error down well.
    I am using a G920 Logitech wheel, and playing Forza Motorsport on PC using Xbox Game pass. I do not have the VIP, or cars pass, this is the basic game as available to everyone.
    I do hope you all enjoy the content, Racing and Sim racing is great fun and helps you escape the harsh reality of the life.
    Jump into the comments section, I always answer, look for further advice, constructive criticism and most of all fun.
    Share your experience, shout out to me that you raced with me, that I beat you, or more importantly you BEAT ME.
    Thankyou all for looking and watching. Be safe, Race safe and again most of all have fun.
    Equipment list as basic:

    Great video. I reverted to revenge tactics in a couple of races this weekend. Disappointed with myself. But really annoys me when you see other drivers swerving out to knock you off track.

      Sometimes you just need to let that steam off. Don’t be disappointed tho we all get like that. Funny thing I noticed is when I got demoted down to A rating, I had better, cleaner races. Easy to get back up to S tho. these people here that are swerving are just sore losers. I mean it’s not like you’re at pole position. You’re saving 6/7 10th place so I don’t see the point lol. Each to their own I guess lol. Let that steam off buddy and have fun doing it :) we’re only here for the fun times. :)

      Just a little. I don’t understand why when you are beside someone or even in front. They glue to the racing line like a train. Believing they can still hit the apex like you’re not there. It doesn’t work like that and done get salty when you cannot give space. On the upside I stayed ahead at the end lol

      You are right, I can and I have done it a few times, once I went all in and that was sketchy, more of just plain luck there lol. sometimes I lack a little confidence and take it more cautiously. For which I am improving on and become more confident as I hope you will seen in my newer videos. :).
      Also I diving more into tuning and creating my own tunes, taking the time out for trial and error, spending a good few hours on a tune for a car. Which helps me get more used to the car while also improving on my own confidence as well as the cars.

    I was spun out in the first corner or before, in my first 6 races yesterday. Granted my starting position was near the back, still no reason for people to drive thru me thinking they will get to the front. It ruins the experience and takes the fun out. And the kicker was I was the person who was penalized for going off track. So frustrating to say the least. Bonekrack is my gamer tag. See you soon.

      No I totally understand buddy. This is why I rarely qualify as starting mid pack is a death sentence. I back out when starting at the back and let them work it all out lol but you are right. Ramming people out the way is not fair or right. Wish the matchmaking system placed better racers with good racers. That also includes the fact it should be way harder to get a S rating. Oh yeah I have a video releasing tomorrow 5pm and you will laugh your head off about the penalty system. It really isn’t fair and needs a good rework. Bonekrack I do hope to see you out there. I blame forzas AI for this. The driving model is based off of players and their friends and it isnt good, the AI do what the forza players are famous for doing. So then these players learn that the only way to win is to use brute force which only makes the problem progressively worse

    good video man, keep it up hope your races will be better without these rammers and bad behaviour drivers.
    here is some tip:
    Some point learning from Forza AI is to understand and read traffic better, it is a good learning curve to avoid these rammers and trick them or even stress them out to do mistakes.
    i did in my races, outsmart them or stress them so badly that they do mistakes, and you find youself going up. i learned instantly qualify is not the best part knowingly the punterinos is all over. knowing your own pace and clean racing will increase in your own end.
    so far lessons learned by thouse punterinos i raced them again and their driving changed to actually race instead of trying to wreck and stay out of peoples way and even let you pass if they are slower. some guys really need to learn the hard way and be outmsarted.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for the great comment :D and the tip it really helps as I am still finding my feet.
      You are totally right, I very rarely qualify in the races, I am more than happy to start at the back, I enjoy working my way up the pack. I usually play very passively, so when a car is behind and I feel is quicker than me I move over let of and swoop in behind, on the other hand I do enjoy applying pressure to slower drivers who do not move and I wait for their mistake to sneak in haha. In this video I tried a more aggressive approach and as you can see this is what happens lol.
      I am starting to figure out my own pace now and learning to be a little more consistent, which of course comes in pass and parcel of more experience of track, car and players, Luckily for me, I am more than happy to come in last 1st or mid pack, I just enjoy being part of the crowed and having clean battles. I find my usual position to be around 6th place, which I think is great. One thing I always keep in mind, I am not racing 1st place, I am racing the car in front of me.
      Hope to see you out there :D Cannot miss my cars style lol

      if you ever see my user name "aranblazer" then we meet :)
      combine the aggresive with consistent, and awarness of everything happens around you. once that is done you have good pace and avoidance to read traffic before it even happens,
      for example. i had a driver coming from behind i saw he is not going to slow down, so i went wide, he dived inside gladly he missed all the cars, and he found that wall harder than anyone else xD

      Of course, I also need to learn to not freeze when I suspect that is happening to. while also keeping my own cool under pressure. That one is hard.
      Got to love it when you outsmart and avoid situations like this. Outsmart the not so smart and watch it all unfold from a distance lol.
      Barry R is not as friendly as his name implies. I only met him a few times

      I do like the idea of using the colours to carry on your memory of your cat though. Beautiful.
      Honda is my go to car (In most of my previous videos) and it is exactly as you mentioned, I got recommended the Lynk to try as the Audi is to OP. To me the Lynk feels a little heavy on its wheels not as responsive, it is slightly quicker yeah in the straights, just not as precise as the Honda can be.

      I do keep an eye out on the rear view mirror so I know who’s behind me At all times. Except when I came back on track after I got rammed off. That was a defo mistake on my part. Proximity markers on this game are terrible and gives little to no indication of who’s around. I did have it on and made no difference. Half the time it was already too late on indicating a players position. That’s why I check my mirror to see who’s around and their position. I get your point tho. I rather have a radar system like in GT7 or marker like on ACC, that gives call-outs as well as a visual mid screen marker which is great. Prefer the latter. Forza is a little behind in that department lol.

    you need to spend more time tuning. I am not impressed by your driving but then again, I was in the top 1% of most laptimes in FM7 because i spent all my time doing math instead of ramming and complaining......

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah there is far more tuning potential with this car which I did not dive into enough, but I have moved on from it and am now using the MG which is a great car and I have tuned it to quite an good standard, I am sure someone with more knowledge and skill could still improve on my tune but I am satisfied with it till I gain more knowledge myself.
      As for my driving of course there is room for improvement their always will be, that's why I call out my own mistakes and if others have any tips or see a mistake that I make, I ask them to call me out on it, as you may of seen in other videos and comments, only way to improve is to know where you have gone wrong. I am all for constructive criticism.
      Also Well done buddy on getting into the top 1%, that must of taken you a considerable amount of time and practice and patience to get to that level.
      What is your opinion on this game from the old one?

    • @PLAYERSLAYER_22
      @PLAYERSLAYER_22 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      thanks for being cool about my opinion. you have a lot of potential, but keep in mind that the greatest improvements will always be in solitude, probably in singleplayer where you record and interpret data which can be used to formulate a strategy for the future.
      as for my career on FM7, I spent years getting to that point and much of that time I do not even remember. I started forza when i was a kid around 2009 on FM3 but never got skilled until FM5. once FM7 came out, I was older and smarter so i began tuning constantly for the "sim lobby" as i call it. I started rising through the leaderboards week by week until finally the game got ruined by the gamepass release and eventually got shut down altogether. but before that point, dude I spent months and years trying to figure out how tuners like Raceboy got so skilled. eventually I realized that the tune and the driver are one thing. you can give a fast tune to a slow racer, and the consequences will be horrible for everyone they interact with. but you can also give a slow tune to a fast driver, and they are no longer that fast. this is a complicated game with some of the most secretive meta I have ever encountered in a video game. at one point I had KRIS share his personal tunes which I attempted to reverse engineer for months and I was told to never share the tune with anyone else, so I kept my promise.
      I do not have any of my FM7 tunes because I deleted my xbox email and account, however, I still have file folders filled to the brim with notes and calculations regarding tuning cars of various classes which I assume are somewhat applicable to FM8 and I'd be happy to share some of my tips and tricks with you if you'd like. I do not currently have FM8 but I am tempted to shell out the money if enough people are actually playing it and it isnt the same as FM7. I am waiting for the price to come down because I have too many other things going on in my life with education and actual car/ motorcycle troubles. I switched to tuning and building motorcycles in real life after they shut down FM7 and i never looked back because I sort of grew out of sim racing.
      but if you havent tuned the tire pressure and temps first and foremost to match the cubic regression curve for optimal grip, you effectively are not playing the same game as those 2-3 guys that always end up 10 seconds ahead of the people scrapping it out for 3'rd place every single game..... it isnt fun for me to get slammed into by idiots when I spent years getting to where I am. @@Flashms

      @PLAYERSLAYER_22 no worries buddy.
      I defiantly agree with you there. I do need to sit down and play single player. I have not really done much single player, I had a blast the other day, I found the AI to be quite good and competitive which really set the bar. I also need to be far more consistent so single player will help with that and Using the information I collect there to my advantage. While also improving on my own driving skill, car knowledge and track details.
      Wow, man seriously you put your heart and soul into this. Credit to you buddy I cannot imagine how proud you are of your accomplishment. If only you could hear me clap. It’s hard to put into words the smile your accomplishment has given me. You are very fortunate to be able to reach out to Kris and have him give you some secrets. It’s nice when the community come together and help each other out. So rare to see these days but it’s amazing when it happens. Also it’s really great that you sat there and took the time to understand why he has his tune the way he does. Rather than going thanks and using it. Which is sort of what I am doing now. Of course not to the standard of what you did but as a beginner I’m learning lol.
      You are definitely right about the tune and driver level. Crazy how many people think a quick tune will make them faster, Tuning helps yes, Far more in FM8 than it should I would like to add, I mean out the box cars do not drive all that well. That being said I enjoy digging in to this stuff lol. But a tune is there to assist you gain the 10ths on corners, braking, etc fine tune the car and fine tune your skills and knowledge and if all works well they work together thus improving your time.
      Yeah putting Forza Motorsport on game pass has brought on a situation of itself. FM8 is already showing this issue of rammers, pettiness etc but you do get a good race once in a while which makes it all worth while I guess lol. I am not sure if I would be will to shell out the asking price yet, I have it on gamepass for PC so I did not have to pay besides the subscription. I think if I paid the asking price i would be a little unhappy with my purchase due to the issues this game has at the current moment.
      I understand putting the Xbox down and deleting everything. I did the same many years ago. I am not a young person anymore and not sure why but tried FM8 and got right back into it. I have played other games such as beamng and ACC, but not to the extent of this at the moment. I don't know, there is a sort of charm to it lol.

      Oooo nice you tune motorcycles. I have very little knowledge of them but did spend many years of my younger adult life as a car mechanic. So if you need any help there you are always welcome to drop a message at any time. I have been out of that trade for almost 10 years but still know what I know lol.
      What motorcycle do you have at the moment ???
      You are right about tire pressures and other tuning settings. Each track is different and to make the most out of it I should tune for each track rather than have a standard all round setup. But that will come with time. When I learn more.
      I understand it isn’t nice to get slammed into. Especially at your level. I do hope with time people who are not dedicated will move on and we will remain lol. Also I hope turn 10 improve upon the matchmaking systems to also help us players out.
      Many thanks for taking the time to explain how you managed to become the top 1%. That’s an amazing journey and I am grateful you was able to share that with me.

      I mean, Track details and driver skills were more tertiary goals for me in my opinion. focusing on those things will only let you improve marginally, or take advantage of whatever situation you have, however this comes with time anyway and is more fun to just do that when you test your tunes on the weekends like I did. but regarding your contention about tuning advantage; It absolutely should be like that! there is no reason why someone should be able to download the game and be as fast as someone who spent years crunching numbers to make themselves better at the game unless they already did the same like I did. but then this game is the opposite, it would take me weeks to unlock enough crap to be able to do anything worthwhile with data science like you could in FM7, if you were clever enough or had copies of your numbers for cars like i did. the monetary limits were the biggest obstacle but I had infinite from the steady cashflow from tune downloads.
      if you want to check the leaderboards, I remember FM7 was reverse compatible with every other motorsport game in terms of laptimes if i am not mistaken. but I am unsure if this is the same case in FM8. just check for PLAYER_SLAYER22 in the leaderboards and it might be there, who knows. might be able to download my old tunes if you are lucky but I really doubt that.
      but improving your overall situation is the main imperative of the game... this must be done by taking careful notes regarding telemetry on certain combinations of tracks/corners and the car used. from what I gathered from my discussions with UTSR and other tuners, most people are tuning by "feel" or have a sort of basetune they build off for different classes, I am not really sure how universal that is. but there are apps and websites that work similar to my method that I call "numbertunes". They are faster and easier to make, but all of them have factual problems with their output numbers so you have to feel it out anyway and make subjective changes to try to manage the characteristics of the handling.
      I appreciate your commends, however I have almost nothing to show for my efforts other than now-useless programs and datasheets. even when I had my account, the game barely incentivized tuning other than showing everyone in the lobby which gamertag created the tune a player may have downloaded. the monetary incentive system was laughable and useless in FM7. It is really only good for gaining popularity among the community and youtube does a better job anyway.
      But UTSRKris would occasionally hop in the sim lobby some weekends before the gamepass drop. eventually he caught on to what I was doing with my game and i guess wanted to strengthen the community by sharing one of his files. he never really directly gave me any information other than the tune, he just said he made it by "feel"..... and honestly, the tune was so unusual that I had a real difficult time reverse engineering his numbers to be used in other tunes despite being quick in it's own right. all I could really do was dial in some of my own algorithms on Python for tuning by trying to figure out why his number relationships worked with every other in the car. even I still had a lot to learn, but that physics engine was a beast honestly. and I am pretty sure raceboy is somehow associated with T10 industries now which explains why his numbers match the game so well.
      As for the gamepass situation, I remember I got banned for "verbally harassing" players AFTER their complete lack of braking would effect MY gaming experience and eventually concluded that the people cashing our checks care more about sales volume, than the experience of the people who care the most about the actual product they created. All I was saying/screaming at the time was the need to implement a first lap ghosting system in damage lobbies to allow incompetent racers to commit suicide on the first corner without effecting the actual tuners and drivers.
      But about forza tuning in general, you dont actually need to start from scratch with each tune in FM7 at least (looks like unlock system in FM8 ruined that). here, I'll share one of the most important secrets I learned; optimal (cold/start) tire pressure will be different for each car due to the cubic regression curve being a function of (average operation temperature) / (Vehicle sprung mass). you can see pretty quick how this is super easy to implement into a Python calculator (which I might still have lol) then its just a matter of unlocking everything or whatever the new game is making you do, and then plug and chug the numbers through the calculator after obtaining them in singleplayer theater telemetry readout mode. keep in mind though, that the start pressure is almost irrelevant because you need to do around 2 laps to get the pressure/temps to average out on the "operation temp" which is the real variable we are trying to manipulate and optimize.
      Want to see if it works for FM8? run a clean lap on singleplayer as fast as you can get it (clean) with tires that can be adjusted in pressure. then comment to me some numbers from the recording playback if it allows you to see telemetry on recordings like it used to. I'll run the numbers through my calculator and then send the new starting pressure for tires back to you. make the adjustment, then run another clean lap and compare the times. if it works, it will be faster. ill need the following; total car weight, start tire pressure, average tire temperature. I honestly forget how I used to do this part but I do remember that it was a bivariate cubic regression curve that I found using Desmos and a graphic calculator by mapping a histogram and then using a line of best fit in the cubic regression mode on the graphing calculator that basically formulates an equation based on the input data. i invented this method right before covid so I am trying to remember all the way back and i honestly forget a lot of details about how i came up with the equation, and how to use it the way I used to. I know that I did this for all my tunes though and it was incredibly easy once I made the calculator. I know this might sound confusing, but keep in mind, I am not very good at mathematics as I believe I am dyslexic. I only figured this out through pure willpower, some luck, and vague memory of my middleschool and highschool math classes that I failed. I am looking for my notes and files now but am having trouble, but I know the notes definitely still exist and all I need is the equation to do the same thing.

      I recently got my motorcycle license and got a good deal on a Harley XL1200C after rebuilding a cousin's dropped Ninja 250f which got me into bikes. ended up servicing most of the bike from front fork rebuild, brakes, transmission service, oil, lights, cosmetic, tires, wheels etc but everything is so well built that servicing is a breeze with the parts availability on those things. no real repairs yet unless you consider a fork tube upper replacement a repair(chipped chrome caused a fluid leak in one fork = SCARY!!!!).@@Flashms

      I saw the title and thumbnail and figured the same, first line of the video is "Hello Viewers, _______ here." I understand emulating a successful creator as a jumping off point but if he continues this blatantly people will most likely notice.
