That’s how it goes every race in career. I’ve fought with a ai for 2 or 3 laps. Then once I pass them they fall 6-8 seconds back in one lap. The problems really magnifies when you increase the laps. Once the AI in front catch the back to lap them they get stuck. So even if you are 20 to 30 seconds or more. You can catch them in less than 2 laps. They have no concept of their own position in the race.
It’s not right how it is and you are right. They have no idea so end up racing you only when you are nearby and then go back to sleep lol Let’s hope forza fix these issues but there is a lot of work to be done here. It is funny to watch though.

This "built from ground up" AI looks more like hairball code of FM7 AI. Main difference is they no longer have supernatural grip, and AI doesn't cope with loss of this advantage well. Weird behaviour on straights and bad timing for corner braking can be easily explained with poor placements of checkpoints for driveatars. When Turn10 and PG talk about "AI learning from players", it's actually just estimation how fast it should take them to beat section of map, and then used to decide if AI should get power boost or power penalty. It was less visible in older games, because super grip allowed them to decelerate on dime, so they didn't need to plan ahead much.
It more than likely is. Everything else seems copy and paste up to now lol. Thing is, we have been creating ai drivers for over 30 years. So this shouldn’t be a difficult task to take on. Never mind turn 10 has nearly 20 years under their belt so this really shouldn’t be something hard to get right. But I agree with you buddy.
Thanks for sharing the tune looks like you are running the front a lot softer than I am on my tune, will give it a try and see how it goes, I found the AI in the career kind of strange, like you say they will be flying along and the second you pass them they just seem to stop for a cup of tea and are nowhere to be seen, they also seem to think they own the rights to all apexes abit like online multiplayer
No worries buddy, I do hope it helps, again I run it softer for better initial bite in but on a long corner that's where it struggles more with the weight being on the tire and then causes a little understeer pass and parcel to be fair, again try it, see how you get on and adjust accordingly. Yeah the AI are so odd, when your next to them, they race you but its like out of sight out of mind lets pull over and have tea and biscuits lol. Yeah it is like that in multiplayer to an extent so its not exactly unrealistic to an extent lol just unreal in real racing.
Just been trying your setup it is pretty solid, I’ve given it a try with my gear ratios seems pretty good have a go and see what you think, Final 3.74 1st. 2.50 2nd. 1.79 3rd. 1.41 4th. 1.14 5th. 0.96 6th. 0.83 You drive it more like a 5 speed transmission but with the option of 6th on long straights slipstreaming
Thanks bud. I try and not change to much the ratio but adjust 6th gear. Reason for this is I get used to which gear I need to be in for a corner and the engine sound to get the speed right without having to look at my Speedo. So yeah you’re quite right on how I have it set up there bud. I am glad you like it.
What the devs are trying to do is to configure the algorithms to make each car a progression in difficulty to overtake but hopefully they are being made aware of the issues (thanks to youtubers like youself) and will sort it out. I've exprienced similar AI behaviour in AC although if you ease off or make a mistake in P1 the AI seems to detect this and naturally catches you up and tries to overtake. I've not got FM yet, give it a year! If only GT7 would come to PC.
I do hope in update 5 there is a noticeable improvement, Its a work in progress, no way do i expect update 5 to fully fix the AI, its more like a work in progress, make an adjustment, see what happens and adjust further. Its not easy to create a system like this and make it feel real. But again with almost 20 years of experience, I did expect more to. I have not had the luxury of trying AC AI, I have tried ACC AI and quite like it. I think they got pretty much the right balance there. But again I only used the AI to improve on my SA rating. OOO i would love GT7 to come to PC. That would be awesome. I year seems fair, GT7 has had a years worth of updates and clean-ups. got to give the same chance to turn 10.

Last time I was in this Giulia career challenge. I was chasing 1st AI-guy in Daytona. Then suddenly he caught up with 24th AI-driver who for unknow reason was doing about 75mph on straights and lost a whole lap because of that. Then 1st AI-guy simply couldn't overtake lagged a lap AI-guy and also slowed down to 75mph. I flew by faster for more than 100mph and in the end of straight was 10 seconds ahead. I was laughing the hell loud. I don't know who designed and programed AI guys... but things like that should not happen in modern racing games lol.
Yeah I have heard of the AI not being able to overtake, kinda daft really because there is plenty of opportunity, but like you saw its like they are scared and just back out, even on the straights they do not move over, rather stick to the racing line and they are settled. I do hope in update 5 this is fixed. Not everyone has access to the internet 24/7 or even want to online race. So AI needs to be top notch for those reasons alone
Yeah I did read about it in update 2. I’m more excited for replays to work lmao. But I think the ai is going to need constant updates rather than a one time fix. It’s something that needs development rather than turning up the aggression slider lol.
I have not had the luxury of trying out Sophie but have seen a few videos on it and it is very good. ACC I found to be very good and the right amount of aggressiveness. But again not massively tested besides racing them to increase my SA rating.
If this pre-alpha trainwreck of a game had a somewhat decent ai, all it others flaws would be even more obvious. So, actually, the ai is perfect, it's at the same level as the rest.
Lol that is a good way to see it, I do have my fingers crossed for update 5, seems a large update with many fixes so I do hope it goes well, or at least provides us with funny bugs not game breaking just funny. I miss those kind of bugs

Yes the AI is terrible to race against they are either ramming you or completely avoiding you like the plague, and the leader always somehow gets almost a lap ahead and it takes you a whole race just to catch the lead car..

And the 'built from the ground up' when everybody can see the framework and 99% of the game is exactly the same as Forza 7. I'm a diehard fan of Forza and I love the franchise but it's getting harder and harder if Turn 10 keeps lieing and treating us like fools. They need to get their head out of their asses and hire somebody with a vision that understands exactly what racing games need and the fans want.

I did hear that the whole game engine itself was rewritten so future updates are seamless and far more efficient and that’s what they meant by built from the ground up. Like I say it’s what I heard and could be wrong but some ring of truth is in there. Of course using the term built from the ground up was loosely thrown out and incorrect in this matter when lots is clearly copy paste. Yeah I agree with what you are saying. I mean the handling model now is so much better than forza 7, but other than that there is not much here. I do this update brings us some needed relief that they are listening and intending to fix their issues. Which is why I am staying positive because it does look good and I am massively enjoying the game. Fingers crossed though. Time will tell bud. Also assetto corsa 2 is coming out soon. That will shake things up.

Don't get me wrong, I want to stay positive but the expectation management turned out to be absolutely horrible and i hate being lied to. That's why I'm not as optimistic as you about the updates. I still enjoy the game from time to time, especially the spec races are a huge step in the right direction. However, without any stats being tracked and the SR and DR not visible for all players it's a bit meaningless and hollow. At the moment I have the feeling the game is being kept on life support with these small updates, just because they otherwise can't deliver on their promise of a 'live service game' (which would be yet again a broken promise). It's a modern gaming problem. These developers really need to get their act together and make decent base games again.
i get you, don't want to be burned twice lol, Yeah i do agree with you there, there needs to be a leader board and more, racing is hollow at the moment. I would love to do touring cars and be on a board at the end of the week showing my fastest lap and race time etc etc. It definitely is, the drip feed method is more of a new model to try and keep people enticed, while also pleasing the game pass subscription model. Don't get me wrong, I am sure if all was available at the beginning this game would have fell of a cliff, but there is bringing out content to keep things fresh and there is blatant drip feeding to the point they are only doing it to make it look like its new when its old stock. I am all for constant updates and new things, but the beginning needed to be more fleshed out, not a few tracks and 500 odd cars, that got old fast. They really have not got the rhythm right with brining out new content lol. I do agree, I was talking with a friend about the state of the new WRC game, EA got their grubby mits on the devs and ruined what could have been a great rally game. Today is all about numbers, new tactics and ideas are out of the window and its more a case of rinse repeat till the horse is dead lol

First, the AI is better than 90% of the community drivers, sorry. Now, the AI races the line only, brakes outside braking zone , and once passed they disappear. This game is broken and that’s that. Not to mention mostly all the race cars are old and not actually racing anymore, there are no new cars in the racing.
They do like the racing line lol. It is funny watching them crap themselves when you create an awkward situation for them though lol. There does need a new influx of cars as well as a few more tracks not just one. Because 500 cars and a dozen tracks is not enough and can get repetitive fast.
Yeah there not the brightest bulb in the pack, but with the new update releasing soon, they are addressing the issue, so lets hope it is an improvement

The break checking is killing me currently, it’s not as noticeable at lower speeds but once you get to 150+ it becomes a huge problem

I think, when it comes to racing games - Gt Sophie & Acc ai is the best.

driveavatars suck ass. they made mistakes in FM6 and FM5 and run off the track every time. F1 games have the best AI overall
