System Data is one of the most frustrating parts of macOS. It can eat up hundreds of gigabytes of storage without actually telling you what's taking up that space. Here's a quick tutorial on how to reveal EVERYTHING on your computer, including hidden system files that normally aren't visible to the user.
WARNING - This workflow reveals important system files that are essential for your computer to work. Inspecting them is safe and won't break anything, but DO NOT delete anything unless you're sure it can be deleted. When in doubt, do some research before you delete something you're not sure about.

This video perfectly explains how to clear system data. I was able to find a tonne of old video files that were taking up storage. Mostly old files previously downloaded from cloud apps. You should have a million views. You are a lifesaver!
So happy to hear this helped you, thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks, this helped a lot.
Glad it helped!
Amazing tutorial! Super easy to follow along and I was able to clear 300GB of System Data, thanks so much!
That’s awesome, glad it helped!
mac dont show me size of files
bro in my Mac the system data is showing 205 gb but I done the steps you told in this vedio but it does not work bro .
Same here - I have >100GB of System Data and it is not from any of these things
My "Containers" folder under Library is quite large at 13GB...do you know why that is? Anything to delete there?
The Containers folder is used for all the applications on your computer to exchange data. I would be very careful about deleting anything there, since the applications on your computer will look inside that folder to access files and folders. If you don't use a particular app any longer, you can safely delete its app folder in the Containers folder. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch anything that's in there.
I've heard restarting your computer could reduce the size of "Containers" folder, but haven't tested that myself.
Too complicated. I'm gonna switch back to Windows.
