    I want to give you 10 stars if I could.
    I can not believe it. I have listened to several other you tube presentations on this subject and reduced some of my stored.
    No one mentioned the system data library. It was using 75% of my storage.
    Even an apple support person did not take me there when I talked with them.
    From your video I went there and found in “Screen Recording” 3 recordings I did not know I created using my “Screenshot” app. A total of 114 GB.
    I did not need them and trashed them. Now my system library is down to 16% of my storage.
    Thank you so much!

    The CleanMyMac did not work to free up any space on my MacBook Air. My storage was showing full with only apps. However, when I looked at the apps storage it did not add up to the app storage space indicated through settings. I did not know that the Library folder existed until your video. When you arrived to the part where you said that deleting Application Support will not mess up anything, I deleted it all. I went from having no storage on my MacBook Air and showing that it was all taken up by Apps alone, to having 184.5 GB of storage. There is no discussions found on the Apple website in technical support with any of this information. I have been trying to figure this issue out for weeks. Thank you!

    i just bought my first macbook and have been comparing some cleaning apps to decide on what to get (though i likely don’t need it yet 😂). thank god i saw your video before purchasing any of those! as a newbie in the mac world, i truly appreciate your content! speaking of, can you also do one featuring the apps you yourself use? probably for productivity, security (like vpn if you use), additional optimization, and other apps you deem helpful. hope you can consider it hehe looking forward to your next uploads 😄

    I’m sure this was helpful for some people but I have a Mac lab at my school that I run myself. The Mac desktops have 1T of storage and almost NONE used. But the OS system runs so slow. The system is slow, the applications are slow, even loading websites is slow with excellent connections. So I just don’t think this salved my issue.
    Also you should delete orphaned apps from the container. Or at least that’s what I’ve read elsewhere.

  • @andyabajo
    @andyabajo ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, technically you can do all of this and clean your Mac this way. However, the ease of use that you'll get coming from using these programs instead of spending hours and hours trying to fiddle with folders, "is it safe to delete or not" scenario and whatnot.
    I personally used Clean My Mac and its basically a must to install on every mac.

      Thanks a lot for your positive feedback 🙏 it’s hard to say what apps you need, I have maybe 5 apps in total installed on my Mac (except MacOS apps which you can’t remove). If you name me some of your applications I might be able to tell you if it’s useful or not.
      Most of the apps are automatically updated though App Store, and even those 3rd party apps like VLC player are offering updates from time to time so installing these updates is kind of happening alone on the background 💻

    Hi, great video. In my user library folder there is a folder called "Group Containers" taking up 22gb. Can you delete this? I have about 120gb of System Data on my harddrive, even after following all of your tips :/

    • @OneByteAcademyOfficial
      @OneByteAcademyOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am happy that you like the video 🙏 You should not delete anything from a folder "Group Containers". Basically you should not touch most of the folders in system library. I am actually working on a video about macOS folders you should never touch which will be released in few weeks. Hopefully you will like that too. System is normally taking around 30 Gb but having it showing around 100Gb can have many reasons. But most of the time it's just miscalculating some of your personal files and it will get fixed itself.

    Very helpful! Question - recently backed up my iphone to my macbook pro. I see in the Library Modem Scripts folder a lot of files, most have nothing to do with my modem. After the iphone backup, it added a script for Sprint PCS Vision - a phone i had 10 years ago. Perhaps i had a photo taken on that phone that was included in the back-up, that's the only reason I can think of why a super old modem script was added. Can any old moden script in that folder be deleted?

      Try to sort the folders by size as I mentioned in the video and figure out which folder is really taking the most. And see to what apps it’s conected. Than reinstalling the app should help. In general you should not be deleting anything from the containers but if you will not find any other way you will have to remove large files from there or backup your data and reinstall the whole Mac. It’s quite easy to do 👍

      Safari might be storing some cached files from websites you have visited, but 16gb is really a lot. You can try to move the large files away from the folder and if it will not influence the functionality you might be able to delete it. 👨🏼‍💻
