    I went through homelessness for awhile. I remember one night it was so cold and snowy. This guy told me he’d take me to his camp but I couldn’t tell anyone. I’ll be damned if we didn’t crawl from the underside of the highway into this space where he had been living for 2yrs. It was amazing. He had it laid out like a real apartment. I couldn’t believe he found it, much less, that he was able to use it for so long. But really, no one should be shocked. If you have nothing, and nothing to lose, you’re gonna do what you have to do to survive. It’s easy for people to look at a story like this from the comfort of their homes and shake their heads. But life looks real different when you have no place to call home

      Ms Garcia, I was homeless once with my kids, for less than a month. In my situation, An acquaintance allowed me and my teenage kids to stay with him until My apartment was available ( we lived in a $1.3 million dollar home prior), but hell I grew up with little…I have nothing but respect for all those in the struggle!!! ❤️‍🩹

      Amen to everything you said! you speak the truth! I went through two years of homelessness in Raleigh N.C. and your perspective changes relatively fast when you have nowhere to sleep when the sun goes down not to mention no family, no one to ask for a helping hand. You also find out really quickly who your friends are when you have nothing to offer except your so called "friendship" ...... people you knew for years somehow vanish!

    • @aprilgarcia6119
      @aprilgarcia6119 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@DanielBooneSpoon To be honest, I found more compassion from other homeless people than I did from anyone I actually knew. Even your own family would rather cut you out of their lives in shame than offer a place to stay. But on the flip side, I learned to appreciate small things that I had taken for granted before. I learned to be patient with people that are going through stuff. And I also learned how to trust GOD to care for me when I wasn't taking care of myself.
      At the time I was homeless, I felt so small and insignificant. I wanted to be invisible. I wish we were wearing masks then, just so I could have had the illusion of anonymity. It was definitely a dark time for me.
      But overall, I do believe I am a better person for experiencing it. Everything we go through in life just prepares us for the next. In retrospect, I don't regret having been where I've been. It's all just part of of the process for me. And I'm still standing, clean with a place to live, a job, a relationship with GOD and my family.
      I hope your life is in a much better place now.

      @@princesscaliduh Exactly. Well, a bible or just be a human being with a freaking heart, right? I mean, I don't care who you are, that kind of cruelty just isn't right. Those "tenants" were messy, sure, but the creativity they showed has to be worth at least a heads up before they throw all their stuff in the bin. Let's face it, this is an overpass; not exactly an ideal place to hang your hat. No running water, electricity, heating or cooling, and what I assume would be a deafening roar above their heads at all times...for these people to choose this place as their home instead of a condo at the beach or something, they're obviously not living the life of riley. They might be struggling with mental illness, abuse, addictions, joblessness or any combination. Whatever the case, they probably have it hard enough as it is and could really use some kindness.
      This story *should* have been so different. They could have made a real difference in somebody's life, but instead there was someone even *less* safe going to sleep that night than they were before the law showed up and swung their justice dick around. Isn't that just the most back assward thing? I guess their interpretation of "to protect and serve" is just different than I would have hoped.

And instead of building a center for those in need they build that for the college students to move into the apartment complex that it was built on....the homeless took over cause no one was gonna go there for fun or live their ... 🤦‍♀️ since COVID it’s been turned into the center needed for these people. @@caruniv3287 no actually it’s kind of sickening tbh that people ask me that. Not everyone who is homeless is a drug addict etc. This story took place when I was 17-18 finishing up high school and family died and left me with nothing but my crazy aunt who did drugs and because they already struggled with money and didn’t leave me anything, no money no house nothing. My aunt struggled with being institutionalized on multiple occasions but she was the only one I could go to because she was the one family member my family and I knew with a house and extra room and bed for me and she was my godmother so my parents intentions were if anything ever happened she would help. She has mental issues though like OCD suicidal thoughts PTSD and depression. She was abused by her own mother and was on numerous medications (that didn’t help) in conclusion, she kicked me out (in the rain and threw all my stuff out there too) called the cops and made a lie I pushed her so she could get me out of the way and get her room back to rent to someone else who would pay her way for drugs . bc I couldn’t pay her money bc at my minimum wage job I was only making enough to feed myself and pay my bills. She drew the line when I was having trouble getting food stamps and threw me out. You all are repulsive to judge like you’re god. People are so stereotypical and judgements it’s sickening they always tie homelessness to drugs, blondes to dumb, etc. but I guess that’s life, it doesn’t make me wonder why life is the way it is currently though. A mess, people living longer, I know if I was Jesus and died on a cross for everyone I would be pissed and wouldn’t want to chill with any of y’all with the mindset you all hold upon your shoulders. Make out what you want from it. I know where Jesus stands with me for he’s the only one that’s been by me my whole life and he is the only one I care for when he judges me. Which you shouldn’t judge, as it’s Jesus job to judge and with u as his child you should do nothing but love without judgement. That’s your only job, life is a test and being able to love without judgement and recognizing what Jesus would do in all situations is all u have and need to study with. Despite this, thanks for your condolences

    • @princesscaliduh
      @princesscaliduh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FuZe. It’s amazing to me you’re so judge mental along with the 4 people who liked your comment. What’s amazing to me (and not in a good way) is how you think you know everything including the lesson I was meant to learn. Talking like you’re Jesus Christ himself, it’s no wonder why the world is the way it is. Obviously it’s your turn for a lesson. Which I know exactly what you were implying, it’s amazing I’m still here because I didn’t get shot or arrested. FYI, it was my own family’s garage. It was my god mother’s (aunt) garage whom my parents left me with when I was 17 right before they passed and left me. Mind you, my aunt has mental health issues and was in the mental hospital on numerous occasions during her years of living but it was the only place I was able to go to lay my head down to sleep every night so I could finish up high school. She had episodes especially when she misused her prescribed medication for she was on a lot of different ones. She has an episode where one day she threw me out because the minimum wage job I was working only afforded to buy me food and pay my other miscellaneous bills like car insurance (which was in the 400 range a month) phone bills etc. she needed money for her drug usage and decided to throw me out so she could rent the room I was staying in to someone who can pay her way for her drug usage. I was also homeless during this time and living out of my car in the summer heat while trying to work and people were making fun of me. All I had in my car was clothes and a bible. Moreover, if you’re implying the lesson I learned was to trust nobody but Jesus, for the test of life is to see if I can be like him or not (revelations- the testimony of life is the prophesy of Jesus Christ) , to learn to be able to forgive someone like my aunt when the Bible says to forgive like Jesus forgave you (Ephesians 4:32) and to idolize Jesus because he doesn’t want to hangout with judgmental people (like you) on the other side, then ya , I guess I learned my lesson. stop judging like you’re Jesus, that’s his job. You never know what people are going through so pretty sure your job is just to love everyone without judgement. Thanks.

      if you were born naturally and don't have a birth certificate or if you refuse to use birth certificates because they undermine the very foundation of the united states, then you are prevented from owning property and banned from working or traveling.

And not to mention, its kind of an invasion of privacy, the fact that people, human beings, still sleep on the street is a sad reality, the government have to build low cost apartment buildings on all golf courses across the nation, plenty of land, instead of spending it on the military, trying to keep the nation safe, when in reality the people in it don't feel safe in the first place, sure I would let homeless people sleep on my sidewalk, but the problem is that they start piling up as soon as one is allowed, and I can't separate the bad from the good, they start trashing the place just like in this video, some of them take drugs, some are alcoholic, and some of them are batshit crazy, thats not good news for the childrens at all, just look at the horrible aftermath in some of the known neighborhoods for that exact reason to know what I mean, thats how some of these folks treat you back unfortunately, thats why people lost the incentive to help these people, they started treating them as a group under one label rather than individuals, if I know of a person that is homeless and his/her actions and mannerism remained more or less the same, I'd let him/her sleep in my house, but then again, this could have hidden flip sides, this person could just be manipulative, and was using me to steal cash from my house while I'm asleep, or call the police on me saying I kidnapped him/her, harassed him/her, etc, so no matter what I do, its a double-edged sword, there's always that flip side that I can't just ignore :(

      Nobody turned their backs on anyone. Instead, people in these situations give up on life. If they can source for all this and if they have the intelligence to get inside the bridge, they can find work. They just choose not to, because they want to live freely without the responsibilities of our society. That's nobody's fault but their own and it's not my (societies) responsibility to cater to, or enable this kind of lifestyle. Before you say that I don't understand or whatever, I will assure you that I do. I once lived in both the field across from mcbean, with my brother, and behind a dumpster by tower Mart on nicolaus. I slept in the bathroom at the cemetery, on the top floor of the stairs by on O and first, hell I even slept on the roof of the 1st street apartments. And even after that, I lived in my car. I was homeless for 2 years, but kept working, kept saving, kept grinding until I was out of the hardship. Never once did I expect society to fix my problems, nor should these people.
