Thank you for giving me a blast from my past! I was only 11 years old but this show helped me get through living with alcoholic parents! I looked forward to this show. I tuned life out and laughed at Bea! I was only 11 years old. People down this show but they don't even have a clue what the comfort of Bea Arthur did for a mentally abused child
yes I hear you. I watched t.v. evangelists and yearned for a better life. today I have a wonderful relationship with Jesus. I don't mind all the pain I went through because I have Him now. may you find peace as well.
Incidentally, the "wrong Aunt Sonia" was also in an episode of GOLDEN GIRLS when Dorothy's son, Michael, got engaged to a woman he kept secret from her. She played Michael's fiancée's mother.
This show was fabulous. In my opinion, I don't know about any comparison to "Faulty Towers". I've never seen that show, and I don't care too. But I do know that Bea (mind you nobody else in the cast) is absolutely drop dead hilarious, more laughs per episode than even in GG and Maude. I don't know what people wanted, but this is 1,000 times better than the crap they call sitcoms nowadays and they seem to last a decade
I have just completed all 13 episodes of Amanda's by the Sea. This will be the 50th time in my life that I've seen each and every single episode of any TV Series, whether it's short-lived like Amanda's or long-running.
@@mistymitchell2790 Those remaining 3 episodes just didn't originally air on ABC, but instead just in reruns. The remaining 3 episodes of Amanda's by the Sea are also available on TH-cam.
What is your point? I mean, did you like Amanda's By The Sea? You didn't even comment on that. Just that it's the 50th time in your life you've watched all episodes of a TV show, which is a pretty random point to make, no?
@@adamcharp What I'm saying is yes I watched all 13 episodes. I gave this show only 2 1/2 out of 5 Stars meaning the jokes and storylines were okay, but not nearly as good as like Newhart, which I give between 4 1/2-5 out of 5 Stars; and/or does not consist of minors or kids in the family and in a private residence setting.
If you came here looking for Fawlty Towers, you were probably disappointed that this show wasn't called "Fawlty Towers". If you came to here to appreciate one of the greatest comediennes in history, like myself, you are in luck

TV helped me eht through some tough times too. I appreciate you :)
Thank you Chris!!
🥰🥰

Out of alll the shows this is the one that helped u?
I watched this show in Turkey in the summer of 1985. I thought it was a British production. It's great to be able to watch it again.
I never heard or saw this show. I love Bea Arthur....MAUDE...Hidden gem, thank you. Love the 80's
Same! Just discovered this show yesterday.
Same. I just discovered it yesterday.
I truly don’t remember this show in the 80’s. I love Bea’s shows with Maude and Archey . I never knew about this what a treat thanks for the post .
I also don't remember it. I only discovered it yesterday!
This looks like a very cozy show, a la Newhart. I wish there was more.
I agree, and the daughter in-law reminds me a bunch of the maid on Newhart
This is really a good series. Sad that it did not become a succes
"Hold my purse, them's fightin' words!" LOL Amazing how many future TGG guests are on this show, too!
are you in any of the facebook groups? lolxxx
Rose...Do black people have dandruff? Lol
Everytime she smacks Aldo's face onto the furniture it cracks me up. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help myself. Great one liners send delivery.
Only Bea Arthur could give someone a concussion and smile like nothing happened afterward. XD

What an awesome episode 2 Broadway Legends Bea Arthur and Vivian Blaine in the same show.
Um, three Broadway legends...! Robert Alda starred in "Guys and Dolls" in which Blaine was featured.
Incidentally, the "wrong Aunt Sonia" was also in an episode of GOLDEN GIRLS when Dorothy's son, Michael, got engaged to a woman he kept secret from her. She played Michael's fiancée's mother.
*Mixed Blessings*
Virginia Capers her name
Being in lovk down because of pandemic..Thank you for posting this show I enjoyed it..I didnt know it existed.I love Bea.
That chicken clucking at all the wrong times is hilarious.
Shades of "Count Bessie"!
Lol yes, a showbiz chicken
Sad this show didn’t go any farther, but then we wouldn’t have gotten Arthur in the Golden Girls, if it had.
It was a funny show!More slapstick oriented than Maude and The Golden Girls.
That's Larry Gelman as Hank. He played Hubie Binder on quite a few episodes of *Maude*.
I loved Arthur's friend Hubie
@@katg7965 Me, too. There was something so pathetically appealing about that character.
@@jonathanmitchell9886 Did you see the one where they all thought he was the obscene phone caller? 🤣
@@katg7965 Yes! One of my favorites :)
Love watching these old shows. She's thinner here. Looks like Dorothy with Maudes hairstyle.
I know she’s older here, but Vivian Blaine’s voice is so deep it’s hard to imagine her as high pitched Adelaide from Guys and Dolls.

I've seen it and believe me Bea Arthur is so much better then the British version.
Damn. Apparently this show was a failure but I still find it funny, thx to Bea Arthur
Bea Arthur is my favorite

How's that ? 13 episodes were produced but 3 weren't ever aired.

this is very funny!!
Never seen Fawlty Towers? Thats the original one.
If Fawlty Towers doesn't contain Bea Arthur it's not as funny as this
Good writing.
Mr Gordon will play on the golden girls!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was in Hook.
Awww poor Henrietta. :( Funny show
Settling in to her character.
I found most of this cliche with obvious jokes but when Bea slammed the hosts head….I LOLed.
Gourmet night anyone?
😃😃
lucky sol?
A cheap, poor version of Fawlty Towers, which was a true classic.
I had never heard of Fawlty Towers, until I discovered this show last night. I'll have to look for it on here.
Fawlty Towers is much better. Agree 100%

TGG had the same sequence 😂but auntie Angela not auntie Sonia
