Every actress in this show was brilliant. Everyone had their strengths. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Blanche
Right. I can't imagine anyone else playing these characters. IF they ever treid to do a remake it would totally flop. Rue was perfect for the Blanche character.

Thank you! He's gonna be 8 this month and is a lil gentleman. His dad has him opening my car for for me when it's safe. He loves to make people happy and genuinely doesn't like to see anyone sad or upset. I'm lucky. 😃 😊

The joke when Blanche says she can't get a second job because she is "working [her] fingers to the bone, 12 hours a week, at the museum" job is one of the most underappreciated jokes in the entire series.
The line in itself is hilarious. It also goes to show how self-absorbed Blanche can be. 12 hours a week is not much of a full-time job!

This show is so well written and acted, that it doesn’t matter what age you are. We are all the demographics for it. I discovered it in 2002, when I was 22 years old, and I still rewatch and binge it from time to time.
I’ve been watching so long, I’ve become “Golden Girl” aged! It’s comfort tv for a lot of people.
Bea Arthur was an AMAAAZING and timeless comedian

Bea was SUCH a good actress! I had forgotten about that scene of them arguing in the museum office. She almost got me into tears when she defended her friendship to Blanche.

Well not to be a downer but it seemed not to be awesome. Her boss hits on her at holiday parties, she's a petty untrustworthy co-worker to her best friend. Sounds pretty depressing to me

I love Golden Girls they make me feel at home. I don't assume that we argue all the time in our family. It is good to have these distance to life when you don't bother too much. They all have unique lovely personalities and that's so very special about this show. What could I say more just watching them makes me fell at home and I don't know human relations didn't seem as convoluted as they are now. Maybe just people in 80s were forced by life to solve them in person. For me 21st century sucks.

Not too long after my grandpa died, The Golden Girls came out.
My grandma would tell me how funny they were.
By then I was an adult and had my own life, but I decided that I would go to my grandma’s house and watch The Golden Girls with her.
I was very close to my grandma’s, so that was 1 evening a week I’d spend with her.
We would die laughing at the jokes. It was a special time we spend together. She was sarcastic, as I am and we Always had fun, even when I was growing up.
She died in 14. I still miss her.

At times some of us in our 30's felt this show was our guilty pleasure during it's run. Loved the clothes and jewelry they wore. They were all so we'll dressed even in robes at 3 am.

@@2eleven48 yes three: Rose, Dorothy and Blanche. I didn’t think Dorothy’s mother was funny. I found her irritating and I apologise if this has upset anyone. The show could have laughed along with just the three of them and I do recall it doing so in the early days.

Good grief! Blanche absolutely cannot stand it when she’s not the center of attention. Blanche is the one who suggested that she take the job at the museum and no one else to blame but herself.
I think Blanche and Dorothy had the most fights of any two characters on the show, and they usually followed that pattern: Blanche would help Dorothy get something (whether a job or a date) that she didn't think Dorothy could get herself...and then was jealous Dorothy had it. Or Blanche would get offended if a guy liked Dorothy, as with Stan's brother.
