    I have watched all 13 episodes on sub-standard DVD and thoroughly enjoyed them. I thought they were very funny. Bea Arthur brilliant as always. I recognised two familiar faces that also appeared in Golden Girls i.e. Zach and Arlene also Bea Arthur`s son Matt appeared as a diner with a girlfriend in a non-speaking part in one episode. I look forward to watching them all again on TH-cam. Thank you for uploading.

    Interesting note. After this Arthur was on the "Golden Girls" for years. When that ended the OTHER three ladies were in a series "The Golden Palace"... where they owned a hotel.

    Only 10 episodes aired between Feb.-May 1983. 13 episodes were filmed and the last 3 never aired. This was the13th and very last episode.

    Arthur was, as usual, wonderful. I'm wondering if ABC was looking at "Newhart's" success and thought this would work for them.

      They wanted to retool the ever popular British comedy, Fawlty Towers. For the American Audience, didn't work. A few episodes are exact copies of Fawlty. Just different characters, the spoiled fish for example.

      I've also seen all 184 episodes of Newhart as well as all 13 episodes of Amanda's, all this 2022 calendar year.

    It seems like the role of the young Reverend was written with John Ritter in mind; either specifically for him or as an homage.

    I have just completed all 13 episodes of Amanda's by the Sea. This will be the 50th time in my life that I've seen each and every single episode of any TV Series, whether it's short-lived like Amanda's or long-running.

    It's ironic amanda pushes on a prenuptial agreement, but dorothy called off a rewedding with stan due to it.

  • @DJ1985007

    Cute, but I find it weird that Amanda would marry her brother-in-law who is her son's uncle it's a little strange. I mean I know her first husband is dead but but that's still her son's uncle weird.

    • @BobbySyGo
      @BobbySyGo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought the same thing. But I guess it wasn't so strange back then, and some cultures even expect that to be the order of things if the circumstances occur (not in cases of divorce). But logically, at least her son will still be blood to the step-father, with the same DNA as his father.

    The Golden Girls actresses should not do shows about hotels they don’t work and get cancelled lol! Even Marla Gibbs could t get a hotel sitcom to work (not her fault though).

    The characters of Amanda and Aldo were the only ones funny. The show needed a huge overhaul to survive, had there been a season two. However, we wouldn’t have gotten BA as Dorothy on the GG’s, if the show ran longer.

  • @tjames9698
    @tjames9698 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This show was destined not to make it. The supporting cast destroyed the show. Writing wasn't that good, either.

    • @walkerpantera
      @walkerpantera 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      TOTALLY agree. The supporting cast, ALL of 'em, are cringe-worthy at best, especially Aldo. Bea was her usual magnificent self but she was left out there to carry the show alone and it was just too heavy a burden, even for her, to save this show. I feel the same way about Polly Holliday's "Alice" spinoff, "Flo", SHE was great but the supporting cast sucked all the air from the show.

    • @patricks.7090
      @patricks.7090 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally disagree. The supporting cast was o.k. I guess this show was running against good competition shows. I don't know. Funny thing is, this show came in german television, but not Maude. Therefore again the Golden Girls were a gigantic hit in Germany.
