You can get large diameter vinyl tubing in the plumbing section of Home Depot. A foot of it will fit over the security chain and protect your bike from wear at the contact points. That stick on "Marble" came out pretty nice. The park in the snow was beautiful. I love the ambient quiet the snow brings.

Tire chain install tip. Drive your inside tire up onto a leveling block or two to get the outside tire off the ground enough to allow for easier chain install. This allows you to completely adjust the chains around the tire and get everything pretty tight right off the bat.

I agree with others...time to paint the cabinets white and change the handles to brushed nickel. Pro tip....if you should decide to to the counter tops again, get yourself a braver and burnishing tool. It will make getting the bubbles out easier and around the edges nice a smooth. Thank you for sharing....it does look good.

Nice counter option. If you want to cover imperfections, or add to avoid wear...consider finishing with border strips. They add a nice touch. So resourceful! 😁
Love your new riding outfit. You've added all the right stuff to get protection 👍that's all that matters.
Sorry to see you leave such lush beauty behind. Hope you are able to keep some green in the future scenes.

    • @maynardcat
      @maynardcat 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I disagree on the white wash, he just got rid of white, the natural oak adds a little warmth, changing out the handles to a dark gray brushed gun metal finish is all that is needed to balance it out. Painted white surfaces don't look that good unless a lot of time in prep work goes into it, they also show wear, and dirt easier and begin to look worn quicker, the oak doesn't, and is more practical for the RV,

    • @tmbuchtel

Those snow covered trees at the end of your video were beautiful. It would be hard for me to leave an area like that if I was there. I love trees and when they have snow on them like that, I love them even more. But for me? I've always loved snow. I've never been big on the hotter months. Fall and Winter all the way! I do agree with you though Eric, I don't like driving on ice. That's really the only part of the cold months that bug me. Snow is good, but I can't stand ice. Anyway, just wanted to say I love the snow scenery in your video today. Great stuff. Be safe on the road man. :)

Seems like Washington state decided to give you some beautiful views for your visit. I'd find it hard to leave that white scenery. Counter top looks way better. I'm not a huge fan of the corners and curves. It came out as good as that can get though and it looks like it was a simple project. Caulking looks great! I'm not sure if you've seen that counter top granite paint? Newer RVs are coming with that standard instead of those old white counter top that never stays clean. If you get tired of the corners and decide to redo your counters, you might give that paint a try. Also, appreciate you sprinkling in recording these little projects. I feel like your handyman skills are at the novice level and seeing normal people tackle these sorts of projects gives me more confidence to do my own. Even the mistakes are nice to see because I know I'll screw up myself and it's nice to see that the world doesn't end if everything isn't perfect.

  • @davew5383

As for keeping you and Jax and all of your property safe and secure, you appear like a rolling fort Knox, you handle yourself very well on the road, you definitely have lots of experience so no need to worry about what anyone else thinks, you're doing great 👍
    Happy Trails ☺

I like your new countertop covering, and I couldn't caulk any better myself, it isn't easy to caulk. Glad you got chains and retrofitted. Also, you really got your bike secured. Nice bike and suit.
I do love how pretty the snow is, but not to fond of the cold that comes with it, but I would rather be snowed on then rained on, especially out west where it is more typically dry powdery snow. I lived in and went to college in Northern Utah, (because I was a skier - back when I could handle the cold better - particularly dry cold versus damp cold). Which is why I love the climate out it Utah, dry cold in the winter and dry heat in the summer. Oh, I didn't get sick so often when I was out there either. I really miss the geography out west, but my family is in Texas and I love being with my family members.

In fact he said you risk damaging tires. I will admit I never looked up highway rules. But I do fine only chaining outside

    Beautiful snowfall among the trees.
A suggestion to protect the frame paintwork from the chain. Use a piece of inner-tube to wrap around the chain at appropriate places and hold in place by either wrapping it with twine or use 100-mile-an-hour-tape (aka gaff tape). Keep warm!

Hey Eric-April from Bismarck here. Way to go on the counter! It looks good. Doing a diy backsplash in my kitchen as we speak-wish me luck. Noticed you have the brass handles like we did in our camper. A cheap and easy way to update them is to get a good spray paint-I think we got rustoleum in a textured bronze color. We painted all the handles, hinges and screws for around $10. Very happy with it.

I don't know if you'll read this, Eric, but I wanted to suggest a cheap, easy protection for the chain through your bike. I know you say it's okay, but consider this. Hardware stores sell pipe insulation in a variety of sizes. It's already split and can be cut to fit wherever you want it to go between the bike and chain. I've used it for years to prevent rubbing, chafing or any issues such as that. It's pretty tough and stays put in most cases. Just an FYI. Hugs to Jax.

Nice job on the countertop. If you wanted to get real fancy with the bike lock chain you can go to an electrical supply store and get some big shrink wrap tubing and shrink it to the chain to protect your bikes finish and it makes a relatively cheap chain look like one of the expensive ones.

Hi Eric, you might want to get a bicycle or motorcycle inner tube ,cut it and slide it over the chain to protect your bikes frame. hope that helps. kep the videos coming.

I just wrote that idea Eddie before I read your post and had to delete it lol. Yep, thats what I'd do with the chain.
