PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh HERO???!!!!!! LMAO your funny!!!!!!!
Semi true story Madalyn bit little William J Murray, smashed his model airplane to pieces in a fit of rage, and ridiculed his attempts to play baseball. She kept a liquor closet full and the refrigerator stocked with fattening, unhealthy foods. She extolled the virtues of sexual liberty and wrote for Hustler magazine. She even tried to defect to the Soviet Union with her entire family and supported communist causes,
Waters kidnapped them exactly one month after she wrote an article exposing his crimes with the org and as a kid, suggesting he was paid for homosexual sex, which infuriated him. He was the most likely suspect in the disappearance of someone, a case where the lives 3 people were at risk The disappearance had enough degree of concern, early on, with her medication and dogs left behind No one had yet heard from them at that point but police did nothing They were alive for a month, sounding strange and distressed, using a cell phone that could’ve easily been traced They could have been rescued The public’s acceptance of the government’s mishandling of the case is worrisome, with people thinking it’s acceptable because of who she was- forgetting this was a 4 person murder case In acceptance of the mishandling of this case, people don’t realize that they are accepting all mishandling of cases and that they don’t get to pick and choose The greatest tragedy in this story, by far, in my opinion, is the lack of public outrage that law enforcement’s ignoring a triple missing person’s case for a month resulted in a quadruple homicide and that the case was solved by a reporter, ultimately, because the police cared so little
It looks cool but it looks really cheap. That's the problem with a lot of Netflix movies. Some times it's not that noticeable like with Special Correspondents. But then there are movies like True Memoirs of an International Assassin.
It dose not matter if it looks cheep as documentary, what matters is how accurate it is about the historical event and figures. For example 'Inherit the wind' fails a documentary by narrowing in on the one cross examination of the prosecutor and satirizing the behavior of the crowds instead of doing a more thorough representation of the whole case. Sad thing is the Scopes Trial's real evil doer was the Judge who refused to enforce the 1st Amendment when called to do so and made point to banish the jury and ban any defense witness during the 7 or so days of the trial took place. Even once we got to the famous clash of the titans the Judge had already threatened the defense professionally for attempting to do its job, only to end the case abruptly when it was clear the defense was somehow making a case. The Judge wore his religion on his sleeve and found Scopes guilty out of spite, and the State Supreme Court was no less dismissive of Truth. The Butler act would later be repealed but only to avoid a potential US Supreme Court ruling.
Netflix usually buys the rights to some content. They do produce their own but independent studios cash in on the simplistic imagery with a solid storyline. If you can make a movie with solid actors for 5 million and sell it for 15 million streaming globally; it's not a bad deal.
If this movie doesn't take Melissa Leo to the Oscars again at least it could snatch one Best Make up and Hair styling nomination, it took me to the credits to recognize her.
maybe youtube is the place I can jerk off First off it's a movie. Second it's a historical one at that it's like being shock that the germans killed Anne Frank.
Critics didn't like it. It's a bit "history for schools" that is "this this and this happened." As I knew nothing of O'Hair, it was quite informative. But for people who know all about her it probably wouldn't be telling them stuff they didn't know already.
All thinking men are atheists. - Ernest Hemingway "If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed." --- Albert Einstein Lighthouses are more helpful than churches. --- Benjamin Franklin "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." --- Stephen Roberts Professor Stephen Hawking sets out to answer the question: "Did the Universe need a creator?" The answer he gives is a resounding "no". "Gods are fragile things; they may be killed by a whiff of science or a dose of common sense." --- Chapman Cohen "Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions" - Blaise Pascal "No man has ever been brainwashed by science" -- Unknown "Which is it, is man one of God’s blunders or is God one of man’s?" ---- Friedrich Nietzsche "A man is accepted into a church for what he believes and he is turned out for what he knows." --- Mark Twain "Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires." ---- Sigmund Freud "Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived." -- Isaac Asimov
FrostyExchange Then how the bloody hell did the big bang start. Well clearly there was time before it, the theory expanded. There was another universe before the big bang, according to people who believe in the big bang. And also, how did quotes from scientists mean they were completely true?
1997dodgeneon Yes, I guess that most scientists and people of the science community just follow what the people before them say to be true. However, there is not necessarily need for anger.
Pigdowndog Well its true in this case, isnt it? Everyone here gave qoutes of scientists before them. The quote Stephen Hawking gave was before the understanding of time before the big bang was comprehended. And Albert Einstein did believe in a Superior being.
Pretty scary end of this movie. She got murdered in real life, along with one of her sons and her granddaughter, by a former colleague in the American Atheists organization that she had hired, knowing full well he was a thief and a murderer already, then fired him and publicly humiliated him. Her other son that had become a Christian is still alive I believe, a successful businessman and with a strong faith.
I wished that I knew about her when I was young, because I was forced to pray a prayer outside of my own religious faith and hear someone reading the bible that was not of my religion. I would had protested against mandatory christian prayer and required reading the bible in my public school if I would had known my constitutional right back then.

when to one also. in the first year of high school i mixed like Jack Daniels and coke and walked around school drinking it, go so drunk. My mum had to wash me naked after. Actually all the big names went to that school. Pretty creepy knowing all these people had walked down these corridors and all that. Then uni I went to this place all these famous people went as well. The school was De La Salle. Middle class private school, it was like 5 grand a year vs 30 grand a year for the other private schools. State school is free I think. You can imagine tho, 2 kids thats 60 grand a year school fee, more than most people make. One of my friends got his whole family scholarships to one of them through his water polo, like 5 kids all free I think, parents bought him his own house when he was like 16 cos of it. If you care to do some actual research you will find out that this woman's son actually became a born-again Christian. It never ceases to amaze me the hatred that Hollywood has for Christians.
Why does this have to be such a huge deal? In my opinion being religious is believing in a higher power to take comfort that our lives are being watched over and we aren't alone in the void of space and reality. It's believing in something to make ourselves feel better. You can believe or not believe, no one should tell you what to do or think. But no matter what someone believe or doesn't believe you should respect them and their views no matter how different they are. No one has the right to judge one another based on opinions. Treat others how you would treat yourself, or your loved ones. You can hate a man who is as horrible as hell fire but you can still respect him. You still need to treat him as a human being. We may be separated by religion, beliefs, race, gender, sexuality, age, and more but we are all people with beating hearts and conscious minds.

They'll only praise christianity though when someone just placed a mat on the floor and started praying to the direction of Mecca it'l becomes a no no for them
MilkandCookies: You are correct, and if they keep trying to push god and Jesus on us, we will have an Iran and Islam right here in the US. Maybe then the christians will be satisfied.
All I know she is my hero.

She have done so much for the humanity.
I have no issue with people believing .

I.. I just dont know if this is supposed to be serious or not lol. Um, like the makeup and actors just scream comedy. Idk, im just not picking up a serious vibe from this and i think its meant to be one. Maybe this is just some netflix filler for the in between while the good stuff comes out.
Mike Vibes naw pre sure it's supposed to be a dramedie
I don't think it's supposed to be serious at all. I don't know where you get that impression.
Jacob Sever its just what i interpreted
Right on. I didn't realize this is already on Netflix, so I hope to check it out soon. From the trailer I get a fun-yet-serious tone. Something very stylized.
It's not, it uses a lot of unverified claims made by Christians to demonize her. It also has composite characters.
I thought lena dunham was going to be in it.
I don't know how someone who won the popular vote could be the most hated woman in america...
I thought trump gonna be in it
She's up there, but I think Ann Coulter is the most hated.
PeeWee McQuestionable yep. one sick bitch.

Why laugh at her? I don’t necessarily agree with her but that’s her beliefs based on her life experiences.. she shouldn’t be laughed at for it.. come on..
If you’re a true man of god you’d understand that we as humans have no right to judge other humans and should just be respectful, caring, and understanding and let god do the judging when we die and ultimately have to answer for our sins.. laughing at someone for their beliefs based on their experiences isn’t cool..

I get excited when a good movie trailer shows "based on a true story"
Semi true story
Madalyn bit little William J Murray, smashed his model airplane to pieces in a fit of rage, and ridiculed his attempts to play baseball. She kept a liquor closet full and the refrigerator stocked with fattening, unhealthy foods. She extolled the virtues of sexual liberty and wrote for Hustler magazine. She even tried to defect to the Soviet Union with her entire family and supported communist causes,
Love her, so glad they made a movie about her

Waters kidnapped them exactly one month after she wrote an article exposing his crimes with the org and as a kid, suggesting he was paid for homosexual sex, which infuriated him.
He was the most likely suspect in the disappearance of someone, a case where the lives 3 people were at risk
The disappearance had enough degree of concern, early on, with her medication and dogs left behind
No one had yet heard from them at that point but police did nothing
They were alive for a month, sounding strange and distressed, using a cell phone that could’ve easily been traced
They could have been rescued
The public’s acceptance of the government’s mishandling of the case is worrisome, with people thinking it’s acceptable because of who she was- forgetting this was a 4 person murder case
In acceptance of the mishandling of this case, people don’t realize that they are accepting all mishandling of cases and that they don’t get to pick and choose
The greatest tragedy in this story, by far, in my opinion, is the lack of public outrage that law enforcement’s ignoring a triple missing person’s case for a month resulted in a quadruple homicide and that the case was solved by a reporter, ultimately, because the police cared so little
It looks cool but it looks really cheap. That's the problem with a lot of Netflix movies. Some times it's not that noticeable like with Special Correspondents. But then there are movies like True Memoirs of an International Assassin.
Now why would you watch that?
Mellisa Leo? Bearded Adam Scott? SOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDD

Can't believe there's a movie on this. Who else has watched the Forensic Files episode on this case??
She finally got a movie...
The way she died was not a coincidence.
Critics didn't like it. It's a bit "history for schools" that is "this this and this happened."
As I knew nothing of O'Hair, it was quite informative.
But for people who know all about her it probably wouldn't be telling them stuff they didn't know already.
I’m not atheist but I feel sad watching this movie.
actually those who are atheist feel bad when watching this movie. This woman is a revolutionario to millions around the world. She was God’s hero.

Stephen Hawking - Time didn't exist before the big bang, so there is no time for god to make the universe in.

We need her now more than ever.

My heart goes out to you for not receiving a good education. You were brainwashed by Christians. My dear, you have two misspelled words in one sentence. They are "privet" and it should be spelled private. The other is "principle" and it should be spelled Principal.
@@davidralphs4 I'm not a Christian I'm an atheist lol. But oh nooo! Two misspelled words on a year old comment.
when to one also. in the first year of high school i mixed like Jack Daniels and coke and walked around school drinking it, go so drunk. N he lived there alone when he was like 16, 24 hour party!
Yep....thats what we need now. No one was ever forced to pray that's just absolutely ridiculous if you wanted to pray you could he didn't want to he didn't have to...and schools are sooooo much better now. If you care to do some actual research you will find out that this woman's son actually became a born-again Christian. It never ceases to amaze me the hatred that Hollywood has for Christians.
Anyone else thought it was about Casey Anthony?
Why does this have to be such a huge deal? The kids who wanna pray can and the kids who don’t want to don’t have to…
The same with the Pledge of Allegiance.. the kids who wanna say it can and the kids who don’t don’t have to..

i have read a lot of comments here and am appauled at some ideas...We come into this world by birth and have accepted so many things from govts laws in our daily living but once we hear about Christianity and religion so many people have a hatred....If prayer is practised in schools, you dont want your child to pray, then simlple dont have the child to do so...Everybody has a right to preach, to their own freedom....Let us look at her death, it surely wasnt a good one,...It tells how people believe in God truly and you cant take that away from them..I like the fact that her son became a Christian....In this life is either we do right or do wrong.....It's how we are remembered....Also remember, we wont live in this world forever...So make everyday the best for yourself and others..

this looks like a good movie but I know how it ends :(
I have my beliefs. I don’t want to pray with other people. It is not that I am not a Christian. I just don’t believe in praying with people who may be bad people. It dilutes the value of the prayer like eating gourmet food in a garbage can.
*movie about religious freedom comes out* The comments: “Everyone’s an idiot but me and I gotta let them know”
Imagine this: America, a Christian country where lord's prayer is "unconstitutional" in schools!!! But here in India, I as a kid recited 'Lord's prayer' everyday in school assembly regardless of religion. I m by the way a hindu. And now my daughter who is also a hindu recites 'Lord's prayer' each day in school. And that's why I love my country. Show me another non-hindu country where hindu prayer 'Gayatri Mantra' is recited!! We are very very proud of our hindu-culture.

Is this the same woman that went missing in real life?
Yes, the case was all over. News, Unsolved mysteries....all over even the ID channel ran documentaries on her.
This was actually a good movie. I did not see that ending coming at all honestly..
This is so weird.. I've never heard my name being used in a movie trailer before..I keep hearing these actors saying "Madelyn" "Madelyn" and I'm just sitting over here flinching XD
I just watched this movie. I felt they did a good job with, likely, a limited budget. The acting was stellar, especially Vincent K. Ms. O'Hare did NOT deserve to be murdered, especially after being forced to watch her grand-daughter & son be slain. IF she wanted ONLY for persons, students & others, NOT being forced to recite prayers, all well & good. However, she went too far demanding that other's have their FREEDOM to exercise THEIR freedom of religion/speech DENIED because it offended her.
