"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force." Darth Vader from A New Hope. The Star Forge and Darth Nihilus' Hunger are two of my favorite examples of that line.

    • @moscanaveia
      @moscanaveia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Except Vader's statement does not refer to any of that shit, but to the fact that, through the Force, even the seemingly invincible technological terror could be destroyed. Lucas never intended for the Force - not even the Dark Side - to replicate the terrors of the Death Star. He intended for the Force - and yes, even the Dark Side - to be different. More subtle. More powerful, not because it could smash planets or create fleets, but because it could influence all events in manners normal people could not wholly understand.
This stupid battle of one-upmanship that the old EU established is to the detriment to the philosophical place the Force was always meant to have in the history. Nihilus and Revan and the Star Forge use just the rule of cool to force themselves into Star Wars continuity, but doing so fundamentally breaks the movies' narrative, and makes us wonder why Palpatine didn't just become the Death Star himself. It's asinine, and it makes Star Wars smaller and way less interesting.

    This is my personal theory:
When Revan saw that the Star Forgr was able to create life, he realized that a portion of the light side persisted even in all of that darkness - as the Dark Side does not create, it only corrupts. So I think Revan had a long-term goal of ‘balancing’ the Star Forge, or creating a new Star Forge that was perfectly balanced with the Force - that could create planets, weapons, resources all that without worrying about the Forge’s corruptive nature.

I like to think the the First Order and/or Sidious found another Star Forge at Exegol and that’s how they built up an armada so quickly. I remember sitting in the theater during Rise of Skywalker and getting pretty excited thinking they were going to tie in the Star Forge and then feeling really disappointed when they were like “oh they’ve just been building them in secret forever”.

I was convinced that Luke had gone to Lehon before the release of TLJ. Starkiller Base looked to use very similar technology as the star forge to power up. I thought that maybe Luke was going to find evidence of the technology there and find some means to repurpose it. Your thoughts on Exegol being star forge tech supplements my head canon nicely.

    • @The-Mstr-Pook

No, that's just bad and lazy writing that defies internal (science) cohesion of lore.
Like a star ship being under an ocean unnecessarily, yes it looked visually impressive but makes no sense. (JJ.Star Trek)
      The Holdo Manoeuvre breaks lore.
      Force teleportation breaks lore.
      Sidious Fleet breaks lore.
One ship required thousands of personnel to man stations for ship functions. His fleet would have needed Coruscant emptying.
Also no aliens as empire xenophobia, so all humans.
So looking at recent lockdown how long will people stay restricted without objection or resistance?
Yet hundreds of thousands of personnel stayed on ships on a planet locked in place for how long?
Also Sw, doesn't have ST replicators, so how do you feed the people?
      Ergo really lazy nonsense writing.

    • @tweso1499
      @tweso1499 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@The-Mstr-Pook
The Mon Calamari had constructed some (if not most) of their ships underwater.
The Holdo Maneuver didn’t exactly break lore. Look at ANH when Han was making calculations lest they hit a planet or something. Besides they even say that that was “one in a million” with SEVERAL factors leading to its success, a success that’s rarely replicated.
Luke was able to project himself from Byss in Dark Empire.
Sidious had a similar fleet during Dark Empire (with only one, if not two, Eclipse Super Star Destroyer that has super lasers attached) along with World Devastators and the Galaxy Gun.
They’re filled with fanatics of the Sith. They don’t exactly care how long they’re on the ship, just knowing that they would soon spread darkness to the Galaxy under Sith rule is motivation enough for them. Saner people (or more freedom based individuals) would’ve despised that.
Plus, throughout Star Wars’ history as a franchise, we have seen things that were never part of existing lore; lore being retconed by official works (aka films); and being updated with additional lore regardless of continuity.
Prior to Darth Maul and Exar Kun, there wasn’t any saberstaffs, yet it became a popular addition.
Prior to the Prequels, the Clone Wars was ENTIRELY different (like the clones were initially the enemies of the Republic or something like that).
Before they were numerous or most notably found on Ilum, the Kyber Crystal was once a rare artifact found only on Mimban from Splinter’s of the Mind’s Eye.
And cloning Galen Marek for the Force Unleashed II wouldn’t have been possible were it not from previous lore that was built upon the Thrawn trilogy and Dark Empire (prior to them it would’ve been deemed impossible and lore breaking in of itself).
Obi-Wan even referred to Yoda as the Jedi Master that trained him, yet in TPM we have Qui-Gon Jinn as Kenobi’s master (and by extension AOTC that showed Yoda training Younglings with Dooku being his “old Padawan”).
And Leia said that she remembered her mother when she was barely born, that didn’t break existing lore?
So essentially speaking, we have seen lore being changed and updated over time. The Sequels may ostensibly have “broke lore”, but let’s admit to ourselves that
      1. The ST was FAR from the only thing that “broke lore”
      2. It’s set in a different continuity, which basically means that there’s different set of lore for that continuity to go off of, retconed, or added to it. For instance, instead of using red synthetic crystals, dark siders used “bleeding” method to make their lightsabers red.

It's interesting, in the Bane Trilogy when Bane is flying to Lehon Prime he notices a ring around the world that seems to be made of the scrap metal of the battle for the Star Forge. I have always thought that the Forge was close to being fully reformed at that point, and by the time of the Empire it probably would've been capable of constructing a fleet. The Star Forge is probably the most powerful superweapon in the Str Wars universe, and by far the most terrifying; I think the only superwepon that might rival it would be Centerpoint Station, command over gravity is a pretty serious power to have.

The Star Forge is my favourite superweapon in Star Wars just because of how versatile it was. It would never have the sheer destructive capability of something like the Death Star, or Starkiller Base. But it could quickly create a fleet so massive it was able to wear down the Republic to the point where they had to destroy it to win, because they were never going to win the war conventionally.

With the force the forge could lift specific metals out of the host star and convert them in everything else it can create.

For example, send out teams for certain missions:
    - Mission and Juhani for Stealth Recon since both are known for Stealth.
    - HK & Canderous for Team Carnage Offensive
    - Jolee & Zalibar for Melee/Lightsaber battles
    - T3 in hacking into sectors of the Forge (one specific example would be the section of the game where it’s Revan vs Infinite Droids and have T3 be the one to shut that down while you fight an endless army).

It was always my head canon that Palpatine had the Death Star designed and built as a reconstruction of, at least, the core of the Star Forge. And then added a giant lightsaber into it that 'poked' planets. After all, why build another after the first fell so quickly? Maybe the Death Star had an unseen ability to not only reduce a planet to rubble, but also consume those remains and build ships, armor, fighters, and battle droids. The Death Star was still at Alderaan when the Falcon arrived, did they just have nowhere to go yet, or was it beginning to consume the debris? Palaptine would probably find it ironic that rebel worlds would become the building blocks for an even larger Imperial war machine. Had a Death Star survived, I doubt the Vong wouldn't stood a chance against the exponential growth of the fleet.

The Star Forge is interesting as a superweapon because it's more versatile, it's not a planet killer, but it can create weapons, ships, droids, all sorts of materiel you'd need to wage a war. All you need is the manpower to use it, and even that can be supplemented with the droids.
It's a superweapon for a conqueror, not a destroyer, unlike most of the other superweapons in the series.

And it creates. That is its nature." I love KOTOR and i loved Star Forge, but over time i did realize how dangerous it was, no point in having power of an Empire if youre not in control of your own mind. Hence why i eventually fell in love with Dark Empire and its World Devastators which worked the same, but without side effect of being corrupted, also ofc they were mobile unlike Star Forge and like Palpatine, one could have a fleet of them with World Devastators able to construct more World Devastators.

I don't think the Forge would have amplified Nihilus's power. Best Nihilus would have likely managed is to consume energy from it, and that's assuming the Forge didn't actively fight back; given the Dyson Sphere level of power at it's disposal and the fact that it's self-repairing and capable of Essence Transfer, I'm pretty sure it would have (heh) annihilated Nihilus.
Nihilus provides nothing the Forge wants, so it'd have no reason to cooperate with him as it did for others.

I'd like to see the Star Forge in its ring form worked on Imperial Remnants ( Not the FO ) into a shipyard like Kuat Driveyards. Then merged with remains of the Death Star and another Dark Side creation - the Dark Reaper. I'd also imagine the Star Forge receiving resources gathered by the World Devastators

I think what possibly could have been the ultimate end of the Star Forge could have been the Death Stars 1 & 2. Like, that it'd survived all the wars throughout galactic history, multiple destruction attempts, yada yada, and that ultimately, its materials were used in the construction of the first Death Star, then salvaged for the construction of the second, where it was ultimately destroyed, never to rise again.

In SWTOR, if you believe in the 'Uprisings' missions in the game. There is one Mission where The Remnants of the Eternal Empire and of the Rakata were cooperating to build a Prototype Star-Fortress on Rakata Prime, Build with a mixture of Eternal Empire technology and with pieces of the Starforge in it. It was almost finished untill a brave band of Heroes (a team of up to 4 Players) stopped them and destroyed the Under-Construction StarFortress.
And a mixture of Rakatan technology and Eternal Empire technology, that would be impossible to beat if it was fully operational.

The first order and final order could have been made from the second Star forge because it could be complete by the time of the fall of the Empire and it would make more sense how a massive fleet was made in a short time compared to with acolytes on Exogol and how the first order grew.

I am interested in how the release of KOTOR Remake effects not just the Star Forge but all of the KOTOR era storytelling in general. Already Disney has shown at least Reven is part of canon but perhaps KOTOR Remake will also be absorbed into Disney era canon. If so then one must wonder what about the others (KOTOR 2 - TOR), would they too be made canon or would Disney opt to go their own way and make a new continuity after KOTOR Remake?
I do hope Disney makes KOTOR canon and maybe KOTOR 2. From there though make an all new KOTOR 3. One where the Exile and gang go following breadcrumbs past the edge of the galaxy looking for Revan. He had disappeared looking for an greater threat than the Sith we all know. They find out though that greater evil isn’t ancient sith but an alien species dead set on purifying the universe, an alien species who are outside of the force, an alien species who do not use technology but instead living creatures as weapons/ships/etc… that’s right boys and girls I am talking about the Yuuzhan Vong!
Bring that species into Disney canon!

i always thought that the disney trilogy should have revolved around the star forge. after years of dormancy after the rise of the new republic the first order just has this massive fleet, and a superweapon that can destroy multiple planets that feeds off of a star. almost like the star forge. all of this could have been explored and why snoke didnt call himself a sith, because he followed a different doctorine of the dark side that focuses on the star forge. yeah it wouldve been a rehash of kotor, but that could explain the reason why Kylo Ren fell to the dark side, the corruption caused by the star forge.
