I agree about the seasons. Having it take place in winter adds in cold weather crap for the DM to keep track of and it's just extra. Cold weather peril does nothing for the story arc, it's just going to distract the players. "Hey guys! you're jousting with the Forgotten Realms equivalent to Dr. Doom! Also, whee! Snow! " 🤷♂
