Believe me when I tell you that you won't regret reading Attack on Titan. Truly a masterpiece in storytelling. Haikyuu is actually about volleyball not basketball and it's a comfort series for me alongside One Piece 🥺.
I highly recommend "Land of the Lustrous". Kinda hard to explain what it's about, but it's somewhere between fantasy and sci-fi. Pretty out there. Some of the best drama I've ever read.
I wish you would read Nana. It's shoujo and it used to be the best selling manga in Japan. Sadly it's on hiatus, and maybe it will never be finished...but it's totally worth it!
The Promised Neverland is such a cute and wholesome manga! 🥰 Looking forward to all of the manga videos, some of the series you already bought are among my favorites. Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, Haikyuu, Promised Neverland, Fullmetal Alchemist are so good!
Reading all of AOT at once might be informational overload because AOT is pretty dense and fast-paced. It's one of my favorites so looking forward to what you think of it when you read it!
Gav, for Attack on Titan I'd recommend you go arc by arc, cause so many volumes all at once would be far too overwhelming. Also, fans love hearing people's reactions, thoughts and theories on the story as the plot moves forward, etc. (beware of spoilers tho T_T) And you might want to check out the anime as well sometime in the future, there are some changes that Isayama, the mangaka, himself wanted to make. Not huge ones, but personally I think the anime handled the first few arcs better than the manga, you get to know the characters a bit better that way. I'll write down which volumes cover which arcs and I'll write it so I don't spoil arc names: Prologue - 2 chapters BoTD arc - vol.1-4 TC arc - vol. 4 TFT arc - vol. 5-8 CotT arc - vol. 9-12 TU arc - vol. 13-17 RtS arc - vol. 18-22 M arc - vol. 23-26 WfP arc - vol. 27-34 Anyhow, I really hope you enjoy this amazing series. It's my second favourite, right after One Piece, so I can't wait to see your journey through it! (also, the artstyle improves tremendously over time) Btw, btw, how do you have One Piece volume 102 in your Waterstones!? I checked one of my local ones and couldn't find it!!
Thank you so much for the arc breakdown! And I got One Piece Vol 102 from Forbidden Planet, but I remember when Vol 101 came out I got it from Waterstones cause Forbidden Planet didn’t have it yet. Keep looking though, it could be in any day!
I found your channel through your One Piece ebay haul video awhile back and have been absolutely loving the unhinged manga obsession ever since, haha. If you enjoy Orochi, I highly recommend another series by Kazuo Umezu called The Drifting Classroom! Junji Ito credits Umezu as one of his biggest inspirations, so I think you'll love him if you're a Ito fan.
Please don't do not sleeping idea, it's bad for your health to not sleep. And we need Gavin in his best health. Also, I want to hear everything you have to say about all the manga you've read
If I can make a recommendation, you should read 20th Century Boys. It has the same author as Monster. It's sort of like one piece in the sense that there will be small scenes that are revealed to foreshadow something extremely important way later on, but unlike one piece instead of it just being foreshadowing it's pretty much always completely essential for the plot. Also that applies to pretty much every single scene in the series. A very basic plot summary is that an average guy discovers a cult and realizes it has connections to his childhood friends. It's a really amazing story, I honestly like it more than Monster.
Really enjoying you finding your love of manga and figuring out your taste. Also if you want a slow boy love romance with humor I would highly recommend my love mix up. Also a pretty short series with I believe 9 volumes
I see Yona 😍Please don't give up on it. Yona is a brat in the first volumes but that's the point ! Yona has one of the best character development journeys I've ever read. PS: Why is it whenever someone tries to give a synopsis of AOT I start smiling like an idiot 😅 Sorry Gav but You'll know when you know. It might become your new obsession who knows ...
your one piece series and these manga hauls have inspired me to read so much more manga this year! I just binge read all the books out in Rumiko Takahashi's series MAO so now I'm caught up.
I had read a few manga prior to when you started getting into them, but you really got me excited about manga again - so much so that I just purchased myself the first One Piece box set My wallet is not happy with you, but I sure am! Going to watch all your one piece videos once i've read all of them!
So, I don't know if you've read this series before, but since you're a Kingdom Hearts fan, I think you might like it. There's a novel series called Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearsons about a group of teens fighting against Disney Villains to protect the theme parks and the outside world from being taken over by them. The original series has 7 books (Disney After Dark, Disney at Dawn, Disney in Shadow, Power Play, Shell Game, Dark Passage and The Insider) and the sequel series (called The Return) has 3 (Disney Lands, Legacy of Secrets and Disney at Last). I think it could be a fun video idea for you to read them all if you're interested.
So, glad you picked up volume 1 of Orochi! All 4 volumes have been released; the best way I can describe Orochi is that she observes people for a period of time while trying to figure out these mysteries that Orochi herself has put herself into while trying to help the people she meets. This is the best way I can describe this series without diving into spoilers ( I've reviewed 3 of the 4 volumes on my channel)😅 Keep up the wonderful work Gav! I'm looking forward to your Junji Ito Manga vlog in October! 😊❤📚
Still trying to figure out if you like manga... P.s. Just a suggestion but I think the anime Attack on Titan really elevates the story over the manga. I would love to see your live reaction to the first episode!
If i can give you a recomendation is Bakuman. Trust me, its a GREAT manga. It will make your love for mangas grow by a ton, as it touches on the topic of how manga is made, the culture around it, the work involved by the artists, the magazine where it is published and etc... it evens has some cameo by Oda, as he is seen as a God by mangakas haha
Omg. I just finished volume 101 a few days ago and I didnt know 102 was out!!! Immediately going to buy it (after I watch this whole video of course!). ALSO I've been obsessively playing the new game. Its incredible. Can't wait for you to finish the series so you can finally play!!!!
Yes you will need more islands lol. Especially if you love Yona cause that series is 35 vols and going. But Yona and Snow White with the Red Hair are some of my favorites. I’ve got a feeling you’re gonna love Yona more cause of the politics and character building for everyone. ❤
Love a manga haul!!! 😍 I’m so excited you got the volumes of Spy x Family!! I just picked up the 9th volume the other day I can’t wait to read it 🥹 also Blood on the Tracks yaaaassss. I’m highly anticipating that video hahaha 😍
Love it that you got all the full series becaise tou loved volume 1 so much. I can relate so much. I do need to stop myself, because I can't buy that many at ones. 😝
I’m currently reading Witch Hat Atelier vol. 1 and I’m loving it! Luckily I was expecting it so I got both vol 1 and 2 from the library so I can go straight to vol 2 😄 And yes! You should read for the fun of it 😊
Honestly you can definitely read 13 volumes of Blood on the Tracks in a day or so because there’s very little words on the page 👀 I’d eat the video uppp
I love Junji Ito and Fullmetal Alchemist. Monster is really good too (only read the first three volumes, same with Blood on the tracks). You should try Erased and Naruto. I just bought Island in a Puddle and can't wait to dive in!
As a french person, it's so funny to me that you called Radiant a "hidden gem" because it's THE most popular french manga xD also i'm pointing that out because (no spoilers i promise) i've watched season 1 of the anime and if the manga's anything like it : its exactly like a typical japanese shonen BUT littered with french culture (characters hang out in cafés, the legends used are well-known in France, etc.) which is a very unusual mix and the vibes CAN kinda throw you off if you're used to 100% japanese shonen (i know they threw me off and i KNEW it was a french manga and i had read other french manga previously), so i wanted to warn you :) It's a good shonen though!
Love that you got so many Junji Ito books! I am so looking forward to reading uzumaki, which is on my shelf. Hehehe attack on titan is such a good storyline. (I have watched the anime and read some of the manga, but need to continue). Haikyuu is volleyball :) But sports manga are often so cute so am sure it is good even if it isn't basketball. This reminds me that I need to go back to watching full metal alchemist again.
So excited that you are getting into Attack on Titan, the anime is finishing up this autumn I believe. This last season is being divided into two movie length episodes so it’s a good time to get into it ☺️ I think you’ll really enjoy both the manga and anime, would love to see some videos about it!
The Promised Neverland is my favourite series! I’m currently reading Spy x Family, I Hear The Sunspot, Yona of the Dawn and The Girl From The Other Side. I’m still to start The Ancient Magus Bride and Blue Flag
hey Gavin!! I think many people might have said this already but my 2 favorite manga's are One Piece and Naruto, can you please start Naruto aswell? I'd love to see reviews on that just like the One Piece ones!! 🍥(also the writer of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto, is bestfriends with the author of One Piece Eiichiro Oda!) He even helped with one of Oda's arcs Dressrosa when Oda was in the hospital 🤍
So happy to see Yona of the Dawn/Akatsuki no Yona in the list. It is one of the rare series/shows I recommend for a great female lead (character development)! Fullmetal Alchemist is a must read classic!
WOW so many good manga. let me just say i did not expect to see etranger in here, gotta say the sequel is my favorite bl manga ever. its just so good. Haikyuu!! is another great manga series, very comforting, and i didnt care much for sports but the characters and the fun relationships they have with their teams really make it worth it. Also never heard of Radiant or Undead Unluck, might start those this month
I love that you're trying out Dr. Stone! Especially since it's my first ever manga! It's super fun and has an amazing cast. Can't wait to see if you like it
Gav if u enjoy manhwa as well I highly recommend "The legend of the northern blade" the art is so so good and the plot is amazing... And "The beginning after the end" it's so fantastic as well with amazing story telling and power Leveling that's done well
I suggest balancing Punpun with Yotsuba One Piece sadness is more of make you cry hard in the moment, Punpun is more of loneliness, numbness and depression Yona is one of those mangas that get better with time. Yona herself isnt very likable at first, but she grows into someone amazing with time. So while I think that 1st volume is still good, if it doesnt hook you instantly, I still recommend continuing for a bit Fullmetal Alchemist is another of those classics. Until One Piece delivers on its ending, I put FMA above it
I agree with you that you should read for your pleasure and not to always try and make a video - it’s important that you enjoy yourself. However I am absolutely down for an attack on titan video where you read them all. Yes please. 100%. It will be amazing to hear your thoughts on the series
Omg!!!!! YONA OF THE DAWN!!!!❤❤❤ I LOVE THAT MANGA. I also really enjoyed Dr. Stone, kamisama kiss loved that I grew up reading a lot of shojo. I recomend Fruits Basket (I watched the anime for Marmalade Boy)
I need to finish my reread of one piece and catch up to the newest chapters! I also need to rewatch all the movies lol Oooh Orochi sounds very intriguing! I’ve never seen that one before. Junji Ito books are so hit or miss with me. Tombs is definitely my favorite of all the books by him I’ve read. The Liminal Zone, deserter, and Ito Junji’s cat diary are also good! Um just as a warning that Shiver is (so far) my least favorite by him and uh just prepare yourself for that collection. I’m very much looking forward to the video you’re gonna do! I’m really hoping maybe you review each short story in each collection 👀 but however you do it I’m sure it will be fantastic! While attack on Titian isn’t my favorite I’m also really looking forward to that video as well! Ohhhhh I’d love if you’d read some danmei!! MXTX’s especially, I’d love to hear your thoughts! YOU GOT MORE FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST YAY VERY EXCITED!!!
15:54 RADIANT! Gavin, you don't understand, I love Radiant, it is an amazing manga, it is originally from France, and supposedly, both Yusuke Murata (the artist for One Punch Man and Eyeshield 21) and Hiro Mashima (Author of Fairy Tale and Edens Zero) got to read the story and ended up begging for it be translated to Japanese, making it, there is even a commemorative drawing of the MC holding both flags. The story is amazing, the artstyle is gorgeous and the fight choreography is out of this world with how good it is, if you ever get to read it and make a video about it, I promise I will always be one of the firsts to watch it (Even if it doesn't mean anything to you)
Gavin! I must again insist that you pick up Volume 1 of "Golden Kamuy"! It is definitely at least worthy of a spot in your next manga tournament. The combination of adventure and intrigue and homoeroticism is unmatched!
Oh my god you have Blood on the tracks? As someone who has read it already, it was a wild and uncomfortable ride. Cant wait to hear your thoughts on it
I will have to say, it has me wondering if instead of turning in some of the Manga Series that I don't want anymore that I honeslty lost intrest in (and give me room for the ones I can't get on Kindle like Saiyuki) if I should as some of you guys who are getting into Manga if you want them instead so you can decide if you want to continue on those series. (I did loose a lot due to some flooding from my bathroom and my Series was against that same wall and it leaked through, but I was able to salvage some. Just sad that some of them got absolutely ruined.) For example: I have the first Five volumes of the "Record of the Fallen Vampire". While I did enjoyed it in the early 2000s, I lost intrest as I started to get into other stories. I'm also debating if I should get all the Omibuses of XXXHolic on Kindle, and I can give someone my physical Volumes. I want them to be loved by someone, not be sitting in storage for years until it's time for events at Tates. So we'll see as I go through them.
Not sure how far you are in Attack on Titan anime and manga but reading it for a video would be soooo good to see your reactions! Btw we say we will slow down and we never will! I always say I won’t buy a manga of a new series and I just bought 2 mangas of different series hahahah!
As the person who recommended Marmalade Boy, I promise you I'm not into all the weird incesty manga XD. Though unfortunately, that is a really common thing welp. But it's just a very fun shoujo drama, even if it's dated XD. But if you don't enjoy it, then fair. I do hope you adore the Phantom of the Idol! I'm really massively into my idol series right now, and it's such a great one. Plus the idol duo in it Zings also has some music for them on Spotify thanks to the anime so that's fun.
You should read warrior cats their are many books so i recomend reading the first series the profecies begin again this is a recomendation so i do nt really care if you want do it becuse they are expencive about 200 dollars for only the main series
So, this is how I found out SOTUS got turned into a manga! SOTUS is originally a Thai BL novel that was turned into a live action series. It's considered a classic. If you ever check out the show, be warned. Once you start watching Thai BL, you'll never stop! lmao
I have 7 volumes of Witch hat atelier so far.. loving this series. I also love more wholesome manga.. I recommend 'I hear a sunspot ' series. and I have started 'The children of the whales' series. ❤❤
Love the haul! I do wanna recomend you a short finished manga series "Nyankees" It's a completed series with just 6 volumes. The art style is great, and who can say no to a cat manga?! 😂 I'd say that Nyankees is a pretty unique manga, as I haven't really read anything to compare it with. The central concept is showing the life of stray cats, but with the cats portrayed as humans, more specifically portrayed as a gang of street thugs. The way this works is that each character has a human design and a cat design and the art swaps back and forth between the two. To be clear, the cats are just cats and are never actually human. And it's way cool to see how the cat's design looks in both animal and "human" form 🤩
Cheers for Witch Hat and Spy Family! I'd say it's better to binge the former than the latter: for me Spy family is better in bits and pieces, since it's so light and funny--binging it to me is like binging cotton candy, lol. Fantastic to read here and there, for example to recover from your Goodnight Punpun volumes! Wheras Witch Hat gets darker and deeper as it goes on so reading it all in one go lets you catch hints and callbacks. If you'd like recs, a good short series is Astra Lost in Space! Nice thick volumes, sci-fi/mystery with action/comedy, a great and addictive five volumes. And if you want to try Isekai (person sent to/reborn in another world) genre and/or a manhwa, Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Manor is REALLY fun with sparkling bantering chemistry between the leads (enemies to lovers vibes?), it's a full-color series and releasing fairly regularly. :)
Slightly off topic question, what are you going to do when you catch up to the most recently released English volumes of One Piece, are you going to catch up online or wait and review arcs as they get released?
Gav I know you already has a lot of mangas to read, but I think you will love Golden Kamuy, it's 30 volumes, already completed. It's like a chaotic mixture of Discovery Channel, historical manga, thriller, gastronomy show, cinema hommage, hairy and strong men without shirts (allegedly the favourite thing the author likes to draw) and it's crazy good. It has 2 anime seasons too.
If you enjoy Monster, read everything by Naomi Urasawa! He is brilliant, I wish I could read Japanese so I could read his original texts. Pluto and 20th Century boys are my favorite! Pun Pun isn’t bad, it is fantastic, but it is soooo sad and depressing, that is why you may have heard some complaints, but even as depressing as it is, it is on most people’s top 10 lists.
Are there any stand alone Mangas that you would recommend to someone who doesn't read Manga? I'd like to give it a go to see if I like it but don't want to start a series
Believe me when I tell you that you won't regret reading Attack on Titan. Truly a masterpiece in storytelling.
Haikyuu is actually about volleyball not basketball and it's a comfort series for me alongside One Piece 🥺.
Oh my godddd I am embarrassed for saying basketball 😂 thanks for clearing that up!
@@GavinReadsItAll also, u should try JoJo's bizzare adventure manga... It's the second highest rated manga, u won't regret it...
@@Z0r0verse jojo is really good, and really crazy
15:27 - "it is all about basketball." GAV! VOLLEYBALL LOL
Hahaha totally my mistake, but kinda glad I said it to rile everyone up hehe 😈
He was think about kuroko no basket
I highly recommend "Land of the Lustrous".
Kinda hard to explain what it's about, but it's somewhere between fantasy and sci-fi. Pretty out there. Some of the best drama I've ever read.
Forgive me, Father Gav, for I have enjoyed you going overboard on Manga 😂
Seaside Stranger became one of my favorite manga. Highly recommend. The art is very detailed and the story is highly relatable for some
I wish you would read Nana. It's shoujo and it used to be the best selling manga in Japan. Sadly it's on hiatus, and maybe it will never be finished...but it's totally worth it!
Same. I recommended Nana too. It's such an amazing series
The Promised Neverland is such a cute and wholesome manga! 🥰
Looking forward to all of the manga videos, some of the series you already bought are among my favorites. Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, Haikyuu, Promised Neverland, Fullmetal Alchemist are so good!
I want him to do the promised Neverland video now lol
Yeah, cute & wholesome 😅

CotT arc - vol. 9-12

No I love the cant sleep until I finish xyz series idea!!! I love the silliness and experimentation you bring to booktube
Gavin is officially obsessed with manga 😂
I found your channel through your One Piece ebay haul video awhile back and have been absolutely loving the unhinged manga obsession ever since, haha. If you enjoy Orochi, I highly recommend another series by Kazuo Umezu called The Drifting Classroom! Junji Ito credits Umezu as one of his biggest inspirations, so I think you'll love him if you're a Ito fan.
Unhinged is the right word for this manga era in my life 😂 and thanks for the rec! The Drifting Classroom sounds great
Berserk fans are used to hiatuses so dont worry gavin, though I can't wait to see
waiting patiently with mysterious heart eyes for gavin to binge fruits basket
As soon as I see volume 2 in store, I’m grabbing it!

And "The beginning after the end" it's so fantastic as well with amazing story telling and power Leveling that's done well
I suggest balancing Punpun with Yotsuba
One Piece sadness is more of make you cry hard in the moment, Punpun is more of loneliness, numbness and depression
Yona is one of those mangas that get better with time. Yona herself isnt very likable at first, but she grows into someone amazing with time. So while I think that 1st volume is still good, if it doesnt hook you instantly, I still recommend continuing for a bit
Fullmetal Alchemist is another of those classics.
You can do it!!!! I may or may not have read 52 volumes of Naruto since March 16…
Manga shelf tour once the new island is set up? 🙏
Absolutely!
Omg!!!!! YONA OF THE DAWN!!!!❤❤❤ I LOVE THAT MANGA.
I also really enjoyed Dr. Stone, kamisama kiss loved that
I grew up reading a lot of shojo. I recomend Fruits Basket
(I watched the anime for Marmalade Boy)
I absolutely love how one piece has become like so part of Gav now when he started reading it because of TH-cam!
Omg GAVIN! I love you. And I know you’ll love The Promised Neverland. It’s wild. And so cute and creepy
Yes the rep we’re getting for Killing Stalking!! I love
Surprised but excited to see you pick up Undead Unluck! The start is a little rough for some, but it gets better and better the more it progresses!
The story is amazing, the artstyle is gorgeous and the fight choreography is out of this world with how good it is, if you ever get to read it and make a video about it, I promise I will always be one of the firsts to watch it (Even if it doesn't mean anything to you)
Excited for the manga archipelago! Maybe label them in groves like Sabaody ;)
I don't think the video idea of not sleeping until you finish a series is a bad idea. I would like to watch something like that.
Gavin! I must again insist that you pick up Volume 1 of "Golden Kamuy"! It is definitely at least worthy of a spot in your next manga tournament. The combination of adventure and intrigue and homoeroticism is unmatched!
Any news on your next Berserk video, Gav? Hope you didn't get turned off on it.
Just sad that some of them got absolutely ruined.)
For example: I have the first Five volumes of the "Record of the Fallen Vampire".
A silent voice and Alice in Borderland are also AMAZING manga i definitely recommend❤❤
I would say to watch Attack on Titan than read. One of the few manga I believe is better in anime
Goodnight punpun is my FAVOURITE manga. Absolutely soul crushing
I've read SpyxFamily vol.9 like 3 days ago and it was soooo good 💗 I absolutely love it and cannot wait for next volume 💕
Haikyu, awesome! I hope you like it! It's about volleyball though. ;)
I love Spy Family!! Also just started reading Yona and really liked the 1st one. Another one that is really good is Death Note.
Not sure how far you are in Attack on Titan anime and manga but reading it for a video would be soooo good to see your reactions!
Btw we say we will slow down and we never will! I always say I won’t buy a manga of a new series and I just bought 2 mangas of different series hahahah!
Goodnight punpun is my favorite manga. It's the best thing I've ever read.
I absolutely LOVE Witch Hat Atelier
Also, you've been watching the latest Pokemon anime? I'm the same age bracket as you, so that's been kicking me in the nostalgia SO HARD
Punpun is very weird but once you start to understand it it is amazing.
So, this is how I found out SOTUS got turned into a manga! SOTUS is originally a Thai BL novel that was turned into a live action series. It's considered a classic. If you ever check out the show, be warned. Once you start watching Thai BL, you'll never stop! lmao
Dr Stone is a fantastic read. Definitely worth.
I have 7 volumes of Witch hat atelier so far.. loving this series. I also love more wholesome manga.. I recommend 'I hear a sunspot ' series. and I have started 'The children of the whales' series. ❤❤
I'm currently starting to get into manga and it's great to see you grow your manga islands... manga archipelago? 😊
Love the haul! I do wanna recomend you a short finished manga series "Nyankees" It's a completed series with just 6 volumes.
The art style is great, and who can say no to a cat manga?! 😂
I'd say that Nyankees is a pretty unique manga, as I haven't really read anything to compare it with.
Banger after banger.
Slightly off topic question, what are you going to do when you catch up to the most recently released English volumes of One Piece, are you going to catch up online or wait and review arcs as they get released?
I don’t remember if you’ve checked it out yet or not but I think you’d really enjoy Cherry Magic!
I hope you tell us the grand total of this haul towards the end 🥲 the attack on titan already sounds like a good dent
Love this haul spy x family is a fave 😍 That hoodie is amazing where can I get this 😍
Lightinthebox dot com! I can’t type the web address in case spam appears haha
Yeah I know where you mean will be ordering 😍😍
Also as far as I know Rainbow Days isn't queer! It's a het shoujo romance with male protags. Not one I'm interested in but I've heard good things
Ahh thanks for clearing that up for me, hopefully I still like it
Are there any stand alone Mangas that you would recommend to someone who doesn't read Manga? I'd like to give it a go to see if I like it but don't want to start a series
attack on titan is one of my favourite anime/manga!! i would love to see your review in a video :)
I really think you'd enjoy Delicious in Dungeon by Ryoko Kui. It's my newest manga obsession
