All I can say is that manga is dangerous. It is so easy to get absorbed into the plot, then by the end of the volume, you just want to read them all. But I'm so excited for you to enjoy them all

I have to recommend you to check out a manhwa called On or Off. And another manhwa called Between the lines. Both of them are BL and more light hearted and i truly think you’d enjoy them.
Also if you like Blue Flag and that type of love triangle that happens you would love the manga called My Love Mix-Up. I feel like you would be more satisfied reading this one.

(that's how i ended up finding such gems as twin spica, revolutionary girl utena (mostly the anime over the manga) and the stellar six of gingacho !). i've also been interested in reading hunter x hunter lately, mostly given how people were getting very excited over the mangaka showing the process of making new panels on his twitter ! i believe the reason why there have been so many hiatus' is because the mangaka has a chronic illness and struggled w/ the publishing industries timelines and quite for a very long time (don't quote me on that though). in any case ! have fun with your new manga, cannot wait to see all the videos you make this year :D

I’m so glad you liked Ascendance of a Bookworm! It’s one of my favorites! I started out with the anime, then read the manga, and last the light novels. The light novels are the best because they have the most detail, but I still love visualizing the story with the manga. I agree with you that the way they number the manga/ novels are really confusing, but very unique. Just FYI for the manga, parts 3 & 4 are drawn by different artists than parts 1 & 2. I think this is so they can release all the volumes faster. However, it causes a weird situation where Part 3 Vol 1 will be released before Part 2 has been completed.
Recently bought "Given"volume 1 & the "Man and his Cat" volumes 1-7 because of you, but I am not complaining. I actually want to thank you for helping recommend different manga to try. I can't wait to get started with "A Man and his Cat"
Gav I think you should also try Black Cat by Kentaro Yabuki and Ayashi no Ceres by Yuu Watase. They’re both very fantasy driven with AnC having gods and reincarnations and BC having kids a superpowers vibes with a great villain plot. But they’re both a wonderful memory of my childhood and I love them to this day.
I just binge read the first 6 volumes of Yona and it's so, so wonderful! I'm starting One Piece this year. If you want even more new manga, I just read Me and My Beast Boss. I thought it would be ridiculous based on the title and cover, but it's one of the sweetest manga I've read!
If you'd like to read another manga set in Iceland, I recommend Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest by Aki Irie!! There's only 6 volumes out, and the story is an interesting mix of mystery/supernatural/and what is basically a tour guide of Iceland lol. The spreads of Icelandic landscapes are so beautiful and I believe the mangaka travelled there to do a lot of research for this series. It really influenced me to want to travel there someday :) And I love all the picks in this haul!! Laid back camp is one of my favorites, and Frieren is getting up there I highly recommend watching the anime for both if you haven't already!

The LNs are complete in Japanese (as of December I think?) and the English translations are being released regularly so it's nice :) Definitely looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Spy x Family! I love this series :) So glad you're continuing Moriarty the Patriot too! One of my favorite takes on the Holmes stories, and one of my favorite series in general. Hunter x Hunter is absolutely worth the read, even with all the hiatus(es?) lol still one of my favorite series! Throwing in a couple recommendations for Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun (Mairimashita Iruma-kun) and Magic Artisan Dahlia - I really enjoy both of these For BL, have you read Lullaby of the Dawn or Sasaki and Miyano (or the spin off Hirano and Kagiura)? I'll add Love Me As I Am (not BL but more broadly lgbtq) - not perfect but a generally sweet series with a non-binary protag (which feels very rare lol) (Is there anything to say about One Piece other than how amazing it is??? Lol but I see some of the newer OPCG sets in the back if you wanna show off your collection!)

Zom 100 is one of my favorites because it’s so hopeful and fun but also gets really into some intense topics that left me teary too. I wasn’t too impressed by the first volume but the later volumes build a cast of character + adventure that is strangely relaxing and comforting.
Hey Gav! I would recommend Night of the Living Cat manga series- it’s about a virus that has affected cats and if a human touches the cats now they get turned into a cat themselves but everyone is still obsessed with cats and doesn’t want to hurt them! 😁 also Cat + gamer is another wholesome one!
I think you would really like Black Butler Gavin, it has dark tones but also very funny! I love that it’s a mix of both ☺️ the comedic timing in it is perfect!
Dangerous Convenience Store is SO good, and the mister (ahjussi) is so fine. Definitely keep an eye on the physical releases cause it's really worth it

i would recomend Mushoku Tensei Light novel. it is one of my favorite series, the main theme for the story is about growth of the main character. It can be a bit uncomfortable because of the topics this series covers but I feel like you should at least try it. if I wore to describe this series it would be like a biography of a fictional character as he progresses through his entire life from childhood to old age
Oh yeah, I try not to judge an entire manga on one volume alone but there’s so much out there it’s hard not to sometimes, but lots of people told me my criticisms get addressed so I’m hopeful
So many manga I want to comment on, but instead of writing an essay I'll just say this: Absolutely watch Frieren's anime, it's so incredible and I know many people (me included, obv) prefer it over the already great manga. Wasn't until a certain episode with a certain wonderful ball dance that, in the manga, was only a single small panel, did I fall into that camp though. And also, I don't know if you intend to continue reading Berserk without Miura, but if you do, you should absolutely know the new author's, Miura's best friend for most of his life, intentions with how he's going to continue the manga. Quoting from the announcement of the continuation of Berserk: "I will recall the details as much as possible and tell the story. Also, I will only write the episodes that Miura talked to me about. I will not flesh it out. I will not write episodes I don't remember clearly. I will only write the lines and stories Miura described to me. Of course, it will not be perfect. Still, I think I can almost tell the story Miura wanted to tell."

I’m about to start Vol. 3 of PTSD radio. I haven’t read a lot of manga, but this is the best horror manga I’ve ever read. It would be hard for anything to top this for me, even Junji Ito.
Just want to once again bring up Akane-Banashi. It's gotten accolades from Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Eiichiro Oda (You know), and it's still, easily, one of my favorite pieces of media ever.
You are new to manga maybe, but while I've finished more mangas than you did, you have read more different mangas than I have already. You are fast approaching the expert rank I might've said this before, but Yotsuba is a good manga to pair up with Punpun, another good, wholesome slice of life- Barakamon Honestly, a lot of great quality manga on your list I would recommend that you go for HunterxHunter and either cover all the arcs that anime has till now, the end of it is kind of good stopping point Manga has 1 more completed arc after it, you can read it too if you wish to, great stuff happens in it, but imo its a nice series to be binged and if you wait on it to be completed, you would be waiting for a long time
Funny that we seem to have dropped into the world of manga about the same time. Got into Zom100 by a fluke but it's so fun. Moriarty is an interesting read. If you'd like something a little different you should try Go with the Winds North by Northwest, I'm Kinda Chubby and I'm Your Hero, and Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting. I'm reading Princess Jellyfish and laughing. Anyone else reading or read the series?
Bookworm is amazing but a minor critique for your explanation. It's not set 500 years in the past It's a completely separate world. Its an iseaki. Also if you've only ready the first manga volume you still need to read the first light novel because one of the light novels is about equivalent to 3 manga volumes.

@GavinReadsItAll also just a heads up multiple parts of the manga are being translated and released at once. Part one is finished I belive part 2 is on volume 8 and part 3 has 2 out that I'm aware of. Part 4 is also currently being worked on in Japanese

Yeah, Made in Abyss gets even worse later on. It’s such a shame really, because the idea was so interesting but all those perverted things happening to children just made me wonder what the author was thinking.
The idea and world really is interesting but yeah that disappoints me, I may change over to the anime instead
