LowRangeNick , the module arrived today. I installed it already and am absolutely amazed at what a difference it makes. I read all the reviews about the idrive and hikeit, and honestly thought it was just going to rev the motor out more. How wrong was I, WOW, increased performance , torque and grunt without revving up the motor! I can’t wait to tow my camper trailer now and hit some trails! At the moment I’ve got it on auto mode and it’s like driving a performance vehicle. I even unintentionally spun the wheels when leaving my driveway for a test run! Im so happy at the difference. I have a 2015 LSM D-MAX manual. Im gobsmacked!!! If I turn the hikeit off and drive, it feels like the vehicle is in limp mode!!!! To anyone considered getting one of these hikeits, DO IT. You will NOT be disappointed. I want to make it clear i am not affiliated with hikeit. I am a totally happy customer who paid for my own hikeit module.
I am thinking about one for my BT50 which has pretty poor low end throttle response. It is amazing how much conjecture there is out there about these type of units, the 30 day money back is tempting and I reckon experiencing it for myself will be the only way I decide. About the anti-theft, I feel this is a bit gimicky as I would have thought anyone with enough knowledge to steal a modern car would know about throttle units like these and just unplug it? Maybe its more for untrustworthy family members that know where you leave your keys🤣 Cheers
I just picked my car up after getting my turbo checked and on my paperwork without any warning that “vehicle is fitted with a performance chip, idrive, engine not under warranty anymore” I did t realize a throttle controller was a performance chip. After I question it all they said was talk to the manufacturer..
Hi Mate , really impressed with the video. Thank you for the thorough rundown. I came across this throttle controller via fb ad. They claim to be the best TC in the world. I want to get one for pajero sport. I drive the car very responsibly and in full time 4H. however wished to get a little more grunt by bypassing the turbo lag. I know ultimate diesel tuning can do dyno tunes and other crazy stuff but that cost heaps of $$$. However I don't want to go extreme and then end up voiding my warranty. Would you recommend this as being safe ?
Hi Nick, what mode do you use it in when touring? I use CO.1.A, I have been meaning to contact Hikeit about seeeing if I can change or get changed the mapping after the 1/2 - 3/4 accelerator point on. I find that all the modes (except EC Economy) want to take off like a grey hound (Which put extra wear and tare on drive train and tyres). My experience. Younger people have more money and tend to swap vehicles a lot quicker than the older.
I usually run it in CO.4.A setting. I find its pretty good response, but not too stupid haha. I think the mapping your talking about is quite normal as it is boosting the signal all the way through the pedals range. 😊

Hi Ralph! Yes, I upgraded to the Hiket X9. The HIKEIT would definately be my pick. It has alot more settings to play with and also alot of features that the Idrive doesnt offer. @@LowRangeNick well for $210~ delivered. And the lockout feature is a boon. Going to velcro mount it so if i Go somewhere suss i will pull off the velcro and put it up under the dash trim with the anti theft activated so it cant be seen.

Hi Nick, great review and video!! I've been thinking about a throttle controller to improve the responsiveness of my 2018 MU-X. In your video you mentioned removing it when taking the car in to Isuzu for servicing as they'll find any reason to deny a subsequent warranty claim. When you remove it can the unit be easily reattached to the dash with its sticky back panel, and do you also remove the wiring and plug at the top of the accelerator pedal? Thanks Wayne.
Well, I've bought the Hike It X9 and installed it - what a huge improvement in throttle response! I'm still working out what setting to use and found the "Hike It" mode is very aggressive and definitely not for day to day traffic - great for overtaking. With the "Economy Mode", the box shows the curve running in an arc below the factory line all the way, they must have changed it recently. I haven't driven it off road yet but the throttle response is much slower than factory all the way to full throttle. So far "Cruise 8" has been the one I've mainly used in the few days I've had it. Great unit, and its your discount excellent value 😃😃

Haha, I fitted spotties just after the bar went on. I was going to do a video but there was a band practicing next door and lady accross the street yelling at her kids lol! 😂😂😂 So decided to just get them fitted. If you'd like a run through of the install im happy to do a video about them 😊

Hi Phil, did you turn the ignition off and wait for 10 minutes before disconnecting the accelorator plug as per the instructions? If you didn't it may set the engine light. Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, double check the the plugs and then reconnect battery. If engine light doesnt go out you will require an obd2 scanner to clear the code.
Hey Louis! The Idrive unit is great. It does a very similar job. But.. it is a basic unit with limited settings. The Hikeit unit has alot of extra features and more settings to play with. I have run the idrive unit before on the mu-x and it is still a great unit. I do however like the hikeit unit a little better because of the extra features and settings. 👍

Hi Nick. Engine Management light has come on my MUX. Can I just clear this fault or should I follow some other process? I found one clip in controller loom didn’t click in properly so when engine started light came on. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers Andrew
Hey Andrew, it will be fine to clear. If you have a code reader and clearer that will work but you can try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and in some cases it will clear the code.
It really depends how you like to drive. If you want full power when towing then drive in Hiket mode. If you want it to be smooth but still responsive then drive in comfort mode. 😊

Having just bought a 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero NX. I felt tat you would be competent enough to answer 2 of my questions. I wanted to ask you which of the two throttle controllers do you prefer (the IDRIVE or the HIKEit )and because of the extra settings you prefer the HIKEit. My second question is do you know if HIKEiT manufacture a throttle controller for my Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed NX MY16 ? Please Nick keep up the great work because even if I don't have a ISUZU MU-X or D_MAX your videos are very interesting and great to watch as I explained above. One of my favourites is the auto dimming function, i do alot of night driving and it is great to not be blinded from the screen 😂 i had a look ok the hikeit website and it looks like they do a throttle controller for pajero 2006 onwards gen 4. I think yours would fall under this but it may be a good idea to send them a quick message to confirm that it definately will. Hi Nick, as we spoke a few weeks ago here I am giving you my feed back on the HKEit X9 unit. After I received the response email back from the company, and like you said for my Pajero MY16 it was the gen 4 manufacturing year, I ordered my module which arrived a couple of days after. I read the instructions very carefully and watched your video again, because I'm not as savvy as your are, and then I got to work. Locating my throttle plug was a bit tricky for me because I kept looking at the top of my throttle gauge to find the plug, but on my Pajero it is situated on the right and side of the throttle mechanism. Once I found the plug the rest of the installation was pretty straight forward. I then had to undo the two nuts holding the throttle mechanism in place because where the plug is situated it is a very tight area and I could barely fit my hand. So once the nuts were undone, the rest of the process was like you described it in your video. Now I have been driving with the HIKEit X9 for nearly a week and it has made a big difference in the throttle lag. I was even a bit sceptical at first, not believing that the initial lag without the throttle controller could be so pronounced. Because once fitted the HIKEit X9, I went for a drive and selected the HI.9 setting, and it was like driving a completely different vehicle. I am absolutely content with my Pajero's performance in all the different modes, and I have a trip to Sydney coming up soon and can't wait to see the results driving in Economy mode will be like. Again Nick thank you for your videos, hard work, comprehensive words, and great knowledge. I will keep on watching your videos with great interest. Keep up the Good Work.
Hey Sharon, if you want an honest opinion. They all do the same thing, so pick whatever unit you like the best and you can afford. The Hikeit is an unbeatable unit for the price and does a great job!
@@LowRangeNick yes it is a bit annoying, iDrive do one, the hikeit one looks like it's got some better features on it though, we'll just have to wait and see if they bring one out.
More features, more settings, auto dimming display, anti theft mode and the wiring coming out the other side of the unit so i cvan mount it in a better spot 😊
The thing that upsets me is eco mode it’s the green line on the diagram below stock the idea of this unit is one to save your money on fuel and have an efficient diesel now it seems to me this is a bunch of horse shit for the money you pay

I just got this for my 2013 Ford Territory Diesel. What a HUGE difference. Lag is almost gone and car pick up much better.

Hahah, what a load of crap. It only adjusts the throttle sensitivity within the factory parameters. They can't deny engine warranty because if that.

This is a great option to give your vehicle better throttle response. Definitely the cheapest and easiest mod to start with.

The SP mode is a combination of both sports and towing mode.

I usually just disconnect the accelerator pedal plug and leave the unit attached.

I read the instructions very carefully and watched your video again, because I'm not as savvy as your are, and then I got to work. Locating my throttle plug was a bit tricky for me because I kept looking at the top of my throttle gauge to find the plug, but on my Pajero it is situated on the right and side of the throttle mechanism. Once I found the plug the rest of the installation was pretty straight forward. I then had to undo the two nuts holding the throttle mechanism in place because where the plug is situated it is a very tight area and I could barely fit my hand. So once the nuts were undone, the rest of the process was like you described it in your video. Now I have been driving with the HIKEit X9 for nearly a week and it has made a big difference in the throttle lag. I was even a bit sceptical at first, not believing that the initial lag without the throttle controller could be so pronounced. Because once fitted the HIKEit X9, I went for a drive and selected the HI.9 setting, and it was like driving a completely different vehicle. I am absolutely content with my Pajero's performance in all the different modes, and I have a trip to Sydney coming up soon and can't wait to see the results driving in Economy mode will be like.

Hey Rocky! It wont effect the insurance or warranty. It is only boosting/adjusting the throttle input within the factory parameters. So no issues 😊

More features, more settings, auto dimming display, anti theft mode and the wiring coming out the other side of the unit so i cvan mount it in a better spot 😊

The thing that upsets me is eco mode it’s the green line on the diagram below stock the idea of this unit is one to save your money on fuel and have an efficient diesel now it seems to me this is a bunch of horse shit for the money you pay
