I've been drawn to veiling, but as silly as this sounds, I was afraid that I'd come across as, "holier than thou". And...it felt odd with my more modern clothing. But this video has really helped me! Thank you!
Many countries it is the norm to veil!! Don't worry you're more than likely going to inspire other women and girls. Me and some of my friends veil or wear a head cover almost everywhere. Many women and girls come up to us and ask about it. They call it beautiful and more ladies are veiling at church
I think the same, but I like the veil who has no design tho since I don't want to draw attention to myself. Although I feel shy doing it, since no one is really doing it. I hope veiling will be a common practice.

Don't let a "what if" stop you from testing out a way to Serve the Lord and walk in Modesty and reverence. As Christian women, especially in America, we need to stop being afraid of what people will say. God will protect you AND give you strength, so long as you seek comfort in Him.
@@0therM0ther.01 There will some people who love you and those who think it's strange to dress modestly or cover your hair. We don't do it for them, we do it for God! And my experience veiling 24/7 is that it's 99% good experience. Even some non Catholic women started to veil or cover their hair too. Women and Men have approached me with positive words.

Yes!! I have always gone to Mass with a veil on and even during catechism classes we were always reminded to have our veil on whenever we were in the presence of the Eucharist. Back then, I felt it was too much. But now I recognise the importance and I am planning to bring it back in my life.
I'm not even catholic, I am a protestant. But I think this is absolutely beautiful. It's what women did in the bible. It would be great to bring it back to all churches and possibly even in public. Not forcing women to do it, of course, but encouraging them to.
Can you explain me the biblical suport for using the veil as a submision to the church? in my understanding acording to Paul in 1Corinthian 11 the covering was used as a submision to men as the Head of the women, verses 1- 10 but then in verse 11 he explais that after jesus we are equal in front of God, and our veil is our hair, and just as it is dishonorable for a man to pray with his head covered, it is the same for a woman, since God gave us the hair. verses 11 -16: "Nevertheless, IN THE LORD woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.13 JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15 BUT THAT IF A WOMAN HAS LONG HAIR, IT IT HER GLORY? FOR LONG HAIR IS GIVEN TO HER AS A COVERING. 16 If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice-nor do the churches of God.
I’m not catholic either but nondenominational Christian and yet I feel drawn to this and even looked this up! In 1 Corinthians it states In the Bible, there is a passage in 1 Corinthians 11 that discusses the practice of veiling during worship. It says, "But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved" (1 Corinthians 11:5). This passage is often interpreted to mean that women should cover their heads while praying or prophesying. While the cultural context of this practice may differ today, some Christian traditions still uphold the practice of women wearing veils or head coverings during worship as a sign of reverence and submission. As someone who was raised Catholic in a European family, and who's seen many an old lady veil in church, I'd like to offer a different perspective that may be unpopular for this audience. I'm sorry, but even "encouraging them to" is too much for me. It just comes across as too preachy and strong. If women (or men, why not?--and why don't they have to veil?) want to adopt a fashion statement for the sake of religion, by all means, let them do so. But let other Christians be free to live how they want to and wear whatever they want. It's the 21st century. I love to have my hair down and freely blowing in the wind the way nature created me, thank you very much. I will not be veiling and don't want the practice to become so entrenched in modern Christianity as to jeopardize Western secular values (which I champion as both a Christian and a modern woman). Let's all try to understand that customs and fashion choices change over hundreds of years; that veiling may have been a common practice for much of human history but does not in itself reflect on the worth or "purity" of a woman; that to equate conservative fashion with women's purity is a dangerous ideal; that a woman who wears modern clothing appropriate in the secular society to which she belongs is not "less good" than a woman who chooses to dress conservatively. "Encouraging" women to do this or that in the name of religion starts with a church community or at home in the family. It can rapidly become a dangerous ideology as peer pressure turns to societal pressure, and ultimately to political pressure. (The elephant in the room? Look at women's rights in the middle east. No thank you.) Again, persons who want to veil: yes, it's a lovely custom, and I salute you. But please let's not champion this on a large scale, nor peddle it as a necessity of faith, not here in the West. I'm Christian insofar as I believe in God. That's it. I don't do dogma or authority figures telling me what to do or trying to instill guilt in people just for living normal lives. I hold the secular values of Western civilization too dear. I started veiling last year, even though I was still in RCIA, it just felt the right to do in church. I was baptised, confirmed and received communion for the first time at Easter, which was the only time I wore a white veil, usually I wear a black veil

And I also cry for His people questioning Him after their abuse, But then, I believed that rape victim with offspring of her rapist can be the bride of Christ. Beside virginity and childless are required. . Please listen to the story of my life,, ( When I was a baby my mother was shocked because I was on the baby incubator, because I had rashes and wounds and bleeding butt, it is all because of the male nurse, she put him into jail, Then When I was grade 3. I was sexually assaulted by my older female classmate. . And the most shocking fact about my life is that… my grandmother was actually raped and she conceived my mother, they give no justice, she had been abused a lot. ‘ Yet on my viewing. @DavidTheZealot I understand. I just felt the need to mention it because sometimes these things can really be more of a trend, especially for young people. My wife veils. She just recently became Financial Secretary for our Parish's Catholic Daughters of the America's Court and was told that she can not wear her veil while wearing the CDA robe because the CDA wants uniformity. When I looked at the other ladies wearing the robes, I saw short silver/white hair. It reminded me that veiling isn't the trend (it was the norm for the Western Church for millennia), the generational trend is to NOT wear a veil. I hope that trend ends soon.

I’m at a point now where NOT wearing a veil in church makes me feel naked somehow. It’s a beautiful tradition and makes me feel both humble, hidden AND beautiful for the sake of my Lord.

I did not know the purpose of it. when I was younger I thought the women who are suppose to wear it are the servers/staff of the church only. I started wearing Christian head coverings earlier this year! I try to wear them anytime I leave my home and when I am praying. It’s such a beautiful thing! I have found some beautiful head coverings on Amazon and on Garlands of Grace. LOVE THE HEADCOVERING MOVEMENT ❤

Are you sure that no one veils? Look around on another day, or maybe do it on a visit to the tabernacle on a week day. You may notice that there actually are some women there wearing one. If there is literally no one veiling that is hard, because all the other women will definitely be judgmental, it that makes it hard to feel like you are really humbling yourself.

You could start veiling in a very demure way, such as wearing a wide lace headband or a short veil that matches your hair color. As the practice continues to take root in your heart, you will no longer feel anxious! Speaking from experience 💕 All the best to you in your journey!
Start wearing headbands, hats, Bonnie’s etc. or a mantilla that matches your hair colour. And there is probably a handful of women who don’t dare to veil because “they are the only one” and are just waiting for someone to take the first step. In my parish it was mostly the African women who veiled, but after I started, I noticed more and more women who covers.
I mean.. like she said in the video, it is about the intention and honouring/showing reverence to GOD our Lord and saviour, for his sacrifice on the cross.. people will judge regardless veil or not, even in day to day life in and outside the church. Jesus was judged, persecuted, and rejected, that did not stop him from living out his passion for our sake. If God is putting this heavily on your heart, believe and listen to his calling, lean into it, and if it doesn’t work out.. at least you can say you tried. You can do all things through Christ, he will strengthen you. God bless sister.❤
I would say pray about it, and let the Holy Spirit give you the words and best approach to bring it up with your mum. Maybe show her a picture, or a reel, or a Pinterest board to start the conversation, and then tell her about how pretty you think it is and about the significance and importance of it and why you've been thinking about veiling full-time. I'm a firstborn, and I'm kinda used to going ahead with things first and talking about it later, but I don't recommend that because we are told to honour our parents, and communicating effectively is a big part of that. Why do you need your mother's permission? I'm sorry if this is rude. But whether or not you choose to wear it for religious purposes, it's just a cloth on the head, so why should you seek approval?
@@zvezdoblyat I mean idk for sure, but I don't really think it's so much about permission and more about telling her mum about it in a way that her mum won't make her feel uncomfortable or discourage her from veiling. It falls under “honour your father and mother” in a way because it's important to respect your parents and involve them in your choices especially if you are living with them. At least for courtesy’s sake and insofar as it doesn't lead to sin
I started veiling when I attended the Latin Mass, but when I attended the Novus Ordo Mass, I at first tended not to veil because most people don't veil at our Novus Ordo Masses. Knowing that God is present in the tabernacle no matter what kind of Mass is being offered, I decided to start veiling at any Catholic church regardless of what kind of Mass was being offered, or even if Mass was not being offered (i.e. Adoration, Rosary). At first, I was very self conscious veiling at the Novus Ordo Mass because almost nobody veils there. But I kept reminding myself that I'm veiling for God and not for anyone else, and eventually, I got used to it and it now feels so natural to me that if I were to not veil, I would feel like something is missing (like I forgot to put shoes on or something. 😃)
Same here, nobody wears veils anymore except for very old people who live in the countryside. I live in the city and I have always wanted to wear a veil (I have never experienced wearing one except on my wedding day) but I think I would also feel self-conscious because being in the city, I will be the only one wearing a veil.
A lot more women of all ages are veiling in our large novus ordo parish. I think more people in general are answering God's call to holiness. As secular society gets crazier, it seems like more people are turning to God. Confession lines are longer, more people are going to adoration, more are receiving the Eucharist on the tongue and kneeling, etc. There were quite a few in RCIA that found their own way into the Church as a refuge from the world. It seems like a wave of converts and reverts is just starting to build and the lukewarm are waking up. Let's hope. Ladies, as a man striving for holiness, there is something beautiful about women in veils, as long as there is a matching humble piety. It is like a pius nun whose habit and devotion reflect God's grace. It is a beautiful expression of true femininity as God intended it to be. Since Eden, the battle has been waged against you and the family. Fatima confims this. Veils are another weapon against satan's snares and temptations. May God abundantly bless all of you!

I was the exact same way at first, and there have been many times where people have judged me and that's okay. If you know that God is calling you to it then the enemy is going to do his best to prevent you from doing the practice through fear, anxiety, etc. You can do it! Start out slow, and you can even wear veils that are similar to your hair color so it's not too noticeable. I hope that your family & friends will take it with an open mind and heart. I just bought my first veil last week and I already love wearing it. I didn't think about sewing the clip into my veil, such a useful tip!I was inspired by my catholic besties Mom is the only other woman that I know of who wears a veil in our parish, I'm so happy that I have chosen to veil!
Veiling is optional during Mass but its good when women veil for a holy purpose. Its more great using it while praying privately and while in the Adoration Chapel. If you want to be like the Blessed Mother, its much better to imitate her Heart than her image. Because if you REALLY want to imitate her looks, then veil all the time like Muslim do. Thats really good as well. Just not applicable in some ppls way of life.

Amen to this. External modesty is so important, both for the women, and for the men. It is so disrespectful and distracting for a woman to flaunt herself, especially at church.

I’m a protestant in India and girls start veiling when they hit puberty( in church all the time) as they are on the way to be a woman of God .❤ it feels very liberating and freeing for me personally it is such a great experience ❤
the first girl/young woman I saw wearing one I heard she was thinking about becoming a nun??? I don't know what that says, but I don't see them too often, but once I learned what it truly was I thought it was wonderful.
Bonnet wearing was tradition in my family (think Penn Dutch, but without strict regulations on what the bonnets need to look like), I still own 2 of both of my great grandmother's bonnets. But for today's society I feel like veiling and hats are better for blending in.

My grandmother has always told me that she wore a Vail when she was younger, I currently live in a mostly Muslim community, so I am very comfortable with Vails, However, every now and then I meet or see a old Catholic woman in a Vail, and for some reason that is unexpected to me 😅
I attend a non denominational church, what’s your opinion on veiling outside of Catholicism? Also, the impression I’ve gotten from other Christians is that veiling is meant for married women, yet many unmarried Catholic women veil?
I have never heard that it’s only for married women. I’m familiar with Catholic and Orthodox Christianity and all women can wear head coverings. I’m not sure about nondenominational…is there anyone you can speak to in your church?
@@anastasia-fr1gn I’m not fully educated on the subject, but I have heard that in the cultural context wearing a head covering signified that you were a married woman. I’ve also heard that long hair was considered a head covering.
I think that in non-Catholic circles a head covering is a sign of marriage. So many Christians do that. It’s so in the Catholic Church too, but we also see ourselves as a bride of Christ, hence why single women also can veil. And in our church we have the blessed sacrament, which is Jesus, so we put on the veil due to his presence. So I’d say: head covering outside of church = married woman/nun (because she is married to Christ) Inside the church = every woman who consider herself a believer. Hope that makes sense.
I have been veiling for about 6 months now. I absolutely love it! I was also very self conscious at first but I was over it after the third time. I personally dislike lace or transparent/see through materials. I prefer to wear solid rayon scarfs, so they are softer, longer, wider, non-transparent and it allows me to cover my head, shoulders and part of my back. I show only my hairline like the blessed mother. Veiling helps me stay focused. I am uncomfortable wearing black or white generally speaking because it is no ones business if I am married or single, I am at church for God only. I follow the liturgical color of the day or season, so I have green, purple, red, pink magenta, cream, and blue. I eventually purchased a black triangle mantilla for confessions or a funeral. And a white trangle mantilla veil just incase. I do not feel like wearing lace is reverent to God, it is like being a temptress, the head is not covered & the vanity of the hair is still very present...just my opinion and yet I own two of them. I also have a sheer black scarf with floral rose accents, as an emergeny veil in my car just incase. It has come in handy, when I forgot my veil at home and when I made a spontaneous stop at the Adoration Chapel.
I’ve been veiling for a little over a year. Have a bunch in all different styles and materials, and I keep on getting more. I usually wear a colour that matches the liturgical colour. Confused because it’s a Martyr feast but the altar is green? I wrap on two scarves, a green and red. 😅

Exactly! Women should emulate Our Holy Mother in all things - including covering our heads! In fact, it was Mary who asked me to start covering my head one day while I was saying the Rosary.
Cradle Catholic here (somewhat of a revert in the last year) married to a God loving Protestant wife. I really want to get my 6 and 3 y/o girls into veiling because of how reverent it is. Please pray I find a subtle creative means of introducing it to them as my wife does not attend mass with me and therefore not able to set the example.
I also plan my daughter to wear a veil full time as in no hair showing undercap and everything, start them off asap! Buy diffrent colors I reccomend jersy, chiffon, modal on temu very cheap, or pretied scarves and youtube has videos. I veil for about a year and a half now. It's modest and beautiful. I also make modest dresses. I look recoment neutral colors and in diffrent fabrics for the summer and winters. And if she gets un motivated show her diffrent styles and the bible verse 1 corinthians 11 and icons of saints veiling.. always works
Please get your wife to read the Early Church Fathers starting with Ignatius of Antioch. To be a student of history is to cease being a Protestant- St John Henry Newman. Didache and the Canon of Scripture should shock her. Pax Christi
Do you see any younger women who veil at the Church go to? I veil and I actually started because I saw many young women my age or close to it veiling when I was in college. Now, as your daughters are quite young, this might be less of a draw, but also remember since it is no longer a requirement in the Catholic Church (The SSPX which is mentioned in the video is in schism) I'd really more encourage you to let it happen naturally, you may find it very reverant, but is not wearing one truly less reverant? Is reverance a matter of externals (the veil) or of the heart?
I started veiling at mass and adoration as a convert during RCIA in 2007. I didn’t know all the theories, just felt compelled by Christ to show public witness of being a “new creation in Christ” by submitting to His will. I didn’t have a lace veil, so I just started wearing scarves tied under my chin like Russian Orthodox women. My first parish was heavily Hispanic and many older women were veiling at early mass, but at a different church later I was the only one - in a sea of several hundred. I felt self-conscious at first but after a few weeks of receiving the Eucharist prepared like this, I only cared what Jesus thought. Now, so many women in my area wear veils, including young women and at the college mass, no one blinks twice. Now I feel naked if my head is not covered. Do not judge veiling women, any more than one would judge a nonveiling one. The beauty of the Church is that it makes room for this as a personal choice. It is no different than the public witness of wearing a scapular, or a crucifix necklace, or a bracelet with holy pictures on it, or telling someone you will pray for them. And a true understanding of submission to Christ is actually a source of freedom, not suppression. God bless!

Yes you can veil as a Baptist too, veiling is widely common in orthodox Christianity, Jewish and Christianity as well and more, I’m also planning on veiling as a Christian
I'm not Catholic, but I cover my head full time, both during Church and in public. It has literally changed my life, and strengthened me as a women, and has helped my husband become the spiritual leader of our home. ❤
I was meditating on this a while ago and thought of the ids of the link between veiling and Passiontide (with the idea of veiling that which is sacred).
Christan is the broad term of it all. Being Christan is too believe that Christ is God. And the trinity. And the other main essentials. Catholics are a branch of Christans that the church was made by Christ. The catholic church believes that the church traditions are as important as the Bible. Catholics don't believe in scripture alone. Because if someone can determine what a scripture means they can take things out of context and get heretical ideas from that.
Veiling is A beautiful gesture! And I have worn them in the day! Now a head covering makes me think of Muslim women and oppression! Many cultures are used to this tradition but I know God knows what is in my heart and not wearing one is not disrepectful!
I wore a veil throughout this entire Lent full time and it was wonderful... Each day it was a choice to step towards Christ and it had difficulties... People were staring even though I'm from a predominantly Catholic country, my family wasn't pleased as well (they thought I was converting or something), sometimes I was too tired or discouraged because of other things... But I went through it all and I've never felt more victorious 😊! And I remember how I was telling myself that I wanted to try it out and it's a one time thing but I feel like I'm going to do this again next year and hopefully the one after that as well and so on 😊💪
I've veiled but only when entering catholic or orthodox affiliated churches. If I get married and if I keep going to my current church I'll likely veil every sunday yk
In context the passage in the bible refers to a *wife*, the point was for women who were married to make it clear in church, and in those days wives would wear a head covering. The other issue is these pretty sheer veils/mantillas just draw attention to a woman's appearance and makes them look pretty (as they well know.) The idea biblically is for the woman (well , the wife really) to *cover/hide the hair* so a sheer veil doesn't really do it- it's 'cheating' to look pretty. And nowadays we don't go round wearing a head covering to indicate we're married. So, a wedding ring or something would do the job.

When i first joined traditional congregation I found my thoughts often wandered to the veil. I still can’t fully verbalize it, but the veil has this immense effect on the way I thought, the way I heard the teachings, the way I felt the presence of Christ… On the most superficial level, yes, the veiled women are beautiful both young and old, but more than physically. When you put them together in the church it’s as if they’re supernatural antennae that harness the power of the Holy Spirit and work to funnel the whole energy of the church toward Christ. Sounds weird, hopefully not borderline blasphemous, but it really has a powerful affect that while I can’t explain, I have in fact corroborated this sense with other men in the church lol
I find the act of visibly humbling myself to outside observers to be the direct opposite of humility. Depending on the social context of course, but where I live looking "normal" and not caring so much about about appearance is as unprovocative as it will get.
Please forgive me if this might upset you, I have a question: if you wear a veil, why would you not wear sometimes? For instance, in this video you don’t wear it. Is it depend on your mood you wear or maybe other reason?
Veiling is an outward expression of our modesty and humility before God, it is also worship but according to the OT and is a requirement under the law People and churches have misconstrued the requirement of the veil under Grace. We live from the finished work and the revelation that God is seeking a a generation of Christians that are inwardly modest and pure. In other words, the heart. On light of this is veiling still required? No. There are other ways to delight my Lord and they are much more important and significant.

"Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" the law of prayer is the law of belief and we forget we are body and soul so as we do the Eucharistic fast as a praying with our bodies veiling is another way to pray with the body and as the law of prayer is the law of belief I've found women who have independently discovered this practice for themselves have really deepened their relationship with God and as you stated deepened their relationship with the Blessed Mother. Lord forbid us receiving the Lord first in a state of grace after going to confession, but on the tongue (Because only clergy have consecrated hands) are just small ways we participate in the mass and pray with our bodies as well. ***now insert my disclaimer that Vatican 2 and Novos Ordo are perfectly fine and are valid forms of the liturgy and it can be done in reverent ways in keeping and not distracting from Sacred Tradition, preferences toward traditional liturgy is not schismatic and just a preference of an aesthetic***
I veil in church because it makes me feel young again. And yes, it helps me concentrate on prayer. The "doilies" were called "chapel caps. The "triangle veils" were called mantillas. We didn't have clips on our veils. They stayed in place pretty well in church. We didn't have infinity veils, but that is the style I prefer now, because outside church I just wear it around my neck. I also have a wire kippah I bought from a Jewish seller; it is quite small, and it does need a comb attached since it is made of metal. After all, the custom of veiling comes from the Jewish tradition. Of course Jewish men [and women too, in my limited experience] wear kippahs in synagogue.
I've been drawn to veiling, but as silly as this sounds, I was afraid that I'd come across as, "holier than thou". And...it felt odd with my more modern clothing. But this video has really helped me! Thank you!

There will some people who love you and those who think it's strange to dress modestly or cover your hair. We don't do it for them, we do it for God!
And my experience veiling 24/7 is that it's 99% good experience. Even some non Catholic women started to veil or cover their hair too. Women and Men have approached me with positive words.

Yes!! I have always gone to Mass with a veil on and even during catechism classes we were always reminded to have our veil on whenever we were in the presence of the Eucharist. Back then, I felt it was too much. But now I recognise the importance and I am planning to bring it back in my life.

Can you explain me the biblical suport for using the veil as a submision to the church? in my understanding acording to Paul in 1Corinthian 11 the covering was used as a submision to men as the Head of the women, verses 1- 10 but then in verse 11 he explais that after jesus we are equal in front of God, and our veil is our hair, and just as it is dishonorable for a man to pray with his head covered, it is the same for a woman, since God gave us the hair. verses 11 -16:
"Nevertheless, IN THE LORD woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.13 JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15 BUT THAT IF A WOMAN HAS LONG HAIR, IT IT HER GLORY? FOR LONG HAIR IS GIVEN TO HER AS A COVERING. 16 If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice-nor do the churches of God.

As someone who was raised Catholic in a European family, and who's seen many an old lady veil in church, I'd like to offer a different perspective that may be unpopular for this audience. I'm sorry, but even "encouraging them to" is too much for me. It just comes across as too preachy and strong. If women (or men, why not?--and why don't they have to veil?) want to adopt a fashion statement for the sake of religion, by all means, let them do so. But let other Christians be free to live how they want to and wear whatever they want. It's the 21st century. I love to have my hair down and freely blowing in the wind the way nature created me, thank you very much. I will not be veiling and don't want the practice to become so entrenched in modern Christianity as to jeopardize Western secular values (which I champion as both a Christian and a modern woman). Let's all try to understand that customs and fashion choices change over hundreds of years; that veiling may have been a common practice for much of human history but does not in itself reflect on the worth or "purity" of a woman; that to equate conservative fashion with women's purity is a dangerous ideal; that a woman who wears modern clothing appropriate in the secular society to which she belongs is not "less good" than a woman who chooses to dress conservatively. "Encouraging" women to do this or that in the name of religion starts with a church community or at home in the family. It can rapidly become a dangerous ideology as peer pressure turns to societal pressure, and ultimately to political pressure. (The elephant in the room? Look at women's rights in the middle east. No thank you.) Again, persons who want to veil: yes, it's a lovely custom, and I salute you. I started veiling last year, even though I was still in RCIA, it just felt the right to do in church. I was baptised, confirmed and received communion for the first time at Easter, which was the only time I wore a white veil, usually I wear a black veil

My wife veils. She just recently became Financial Secretary for our Parish's Catholic Daughters of the America's Court and was told that she can not wear her veil while wearing the CDA robe because the CDA wants uniformity. When I looked at the other ladies wearing the robes, I saw short silver/white hair. It reminded me that veiling isn't the trend (it was the norm for the Western Church for millennia), the generational trend is to NOT wear a veil. I hope that trend ends soon.

I started wearing Christian head coverings earlier this year! I try to wear them anytime I leave my home and when I am praying. It’s such a beautiful thing! I have found some beautiful head coverings on Amazon and on Garlands of Grace. LOVE THE HEADCOVERING MOVEMENT ❤

Are you sure that no one veils? Look around on another day, or maybe do it on a visit to the tabernacle on a week day. You may notice that there actually are some women there wearing one. If there is literally no one veiling that is hard, because all the other women will definitely be judgmental, it that makes it hard to feel like you are really humbling yourself.

You could start veiling in a very demure way, such as wearing a wide lace headband or a short veil that matches your hair color. As the practice continues to take root in your heart, you will no longer feel anxious! Speaking from experience 💕 All the best to you in your journey!
Start wearing headbands, hats, Bonnie’s etc. or a mantilla that matches your hair colour. And there is probably a handful of women who don’t dare to veil because “they are the only one” and are just waiting for someone to take the first step.
In my parish it was mostly the African women who veiled, but after I started, I noticed more and more women who covers.
I mean.. like she said in the video, it is about the intention and honouring/showing reverence to GOD our Lord and saviour, for his sacrifice on the cross.. people will judge regardless veil or not, even in day to day life in and outside the church. Jesus was judged, persecuted, and rejected, that did not stop him from living out his passion for our sake. If God is putting this heavily on your heart, believe and listen to his calling, lean into it, and if it doesn’t work out.. at least you can say you tried. You can do all things through Christ, he will strengthen you. God bless sister.❤

I would say pray about it, and let the Holy Spirit give you the words and best approach to bring it up with your mum. Maybe show her a picture, or a reel, or a Pinterest board to start the conversation, and then tell her about how pretty you think it is and about the significance and importance of it and why you've been thinking about veiling full-time.
I'm a firstborn, and I'm kinda used to going ahead with things first and talking about it later, but I don't recommend that because we are told to honour our parents, and communicating effectively is a big part of that. All the best love! God bless you :) x
Why do you need your mother's permission? I'm sorry if this is rude. But whether or not you choose to wear it for religious purposes, it's just a cloth on the head, so why should you seek approval?

It falls under “honour your father and mother” in a way because it's important to respect your parents and involve them in your choices especially if you are living with them. At least for courtesy’s sake and insofar as it doesn't lead to sin
I started veiling when I attended the Latin Mass, but when I attended the Novus Ordo Mass, I at first tended not to veil because most people don't veil at our Novus Ordo Masses. Knowing that God is present in the tabernacle no matter what kind of Mass is being offered, I decided to start veiling at any Catholic church regardless of what kind of Mass was being offered, or even if Mass was not being offered (i.e. Adoration, Rosary). At first, I was very self conscious veiling at the Novus Ordo Mass because almost nobody veils there. But I kept reminding myself that I'm veiling for God and not for anyone else, and eventually, I got used to it and it now feels so natural to me that if I were to not veil, I would feel like something is missing (like I forgot to put shoes on or something. 😃)
Same here, nobody wears veils anymore except for very old people who live in the countryside. I live in the city and I have always wanted to wear a veil (I have never experienced wearing one except on my wedding day) but I think I would also feel self-conscious because being in the city, I will be the only one wearing a veil.

A lot more women of all ages are veiling in our large novus ordo parish. I think more people in general are answering God's call to holiness. As secular society gets crazier, it seems like more people are turning to God. Confession lines are longer, more people are going to adoration, more are receiving the Eucharist on the tongue and kneeling, etc. There were quite a few in RCIA that found their own way into the Church as a refuge from the world. It seems like a wave of converts and reverts is just starting to build and the lukewarm are waking up. Let's hope.
Ladies, as a man striving for holiness, there is something beautiful about women in veils, as long as there is a matching humble piety. It is like a pius nun whose habit and devotion reflect God's grace. It is a beautiful expression of true femininity as God intended it to be. I was the exact same way at first, and there have been many times where people have judged me and that's okay. If you know that God is calling you to it then the enemy is going to do his best to prevent you from doing the practice through fear, anxiety, etc. You can do it! Start out slow, and you can even wear veils that are similar to your hair color so it's not too noticeable. I hope that your family & friends will take it with an open mind and heart. I just bought my first veil last week and I already love wearing it. I didn't think about sewing the clip into my veil, such a useful tip!I was inspired by my catholic besties Mom is the only other woman that I know of who wears a veil in our parish, I'm so happy that I have chosen to veil!
Veiling is optional during Mass but its good when women veil for a holy purpose. Its more great using it while praying privately and while in the Adoration Chapel.
If you want to be like the Blessed Mother, its much better to imitate her Heart than her image. Because if you REALLY want to imitate her looks, then veil all the time like Muslim do. Thats really good as well. Just not applicable in some ppls way of life.

Bonnet wearing was tradition in my family (think Penn Dutch, but without strict regulations on what the bonnets need to look like), I still own 2 of both of my great grandmother's bonnets. But for today's society I feel like veiling and hats are better for blending in.

My grandmother has always told me that she wore a Vail when she was younger, I currently live in a mostly Muslim community, so I am very comfortable with Vails,

I attend a non denominational church, what’s your opinion on veiling outside of Catholicism? Also, the impression I’ve gotten from other Christians is that veiling is meant for married women, yet many unmarried Catholic women veil?

I have never heard that it’s only for married women. I’m familiar with Catholic and Orthodox Christianity and all women can wear head coverings. I’m not sure about nondenominational…is there anyone you can speak to in your church?
@@anastasia-fr1gn I’m not fully educated on the subject, but I have heard that in the cultural context wearing a head covering signified that you were a married woman. I’ve also heard that long hair was considered a head covering.
I think that in non-Catholic circles a head covering is a sign of marriage. So many Christians do that. It’s so in the Catholic Church too, but we also see ourselves as a bride of Christ, hence why single women also can veil. And in our church we have the blessed sacrament, which is Jesus, so we put on the veil due to his presence.
So I’d say: head covering outside of church = married woman/nun (because she is married to Christ)
Inside the church = every woman who consider herself a believer.

I have been veiling for about 6 months now. I absolutely love it! I was also very self conscious at first but I was over it after the third time. I personally dislike lace or transparent/see through materials. I prefer to wear solid rayon scarfs, so they are softer, longer, wider, non-transparent and it allows me to cover my head, shoulders and part of my back. I show only my hairline like the blessed mother. Veiling helps me stay focused. I am uncomfortable wearing black or white generally speaking because it is no ones business if I am married or single, I am at church for God only. I follow the liturgical color of the day or season, so I have green, purple, red, pink magenta, cream, and blue. I eventually purchased a black triangle mantilla for confessions or a funeral. And a white trangle mantilla veil just incase. I do not feel like wearing lace is reverent to God, it is like being a temptress, the head is not covered & the vanity of the hair is still very present...just my opinion and yet I own two of them. I also have a sheer black scarf with floral rose accents, as an emergeny veil in my car just incase. It has come in handy, when I forgot my veil at home and when I made a spontaneous stop at the Adoration Chapel.

Exactly! Women should emulate Our Holy Mother in all things - including covering our heads! In fact, it was Mary who asked me to start covering my head one day while I was saying the Rosary.
Cradle Catholic here (somewhat of a revert in the last year) married to a God loving Protestant wife.
I really want to get my 6 and 3 y/o girls into veiling because of how reverent it is.
Please pray I find a subtle creative means of introducing it to them as my wife does not attend mass with me and therefore not able to set the example.
I also plan my daughter to wear a veil full time as in no hair showing undercap and everything, start them off asap! Buy diffrent colors I reccomend jersy, chiffon, modal on temu very cheap, or pretied scarves and youtube has videos. I veil for about a year and a half now. It's modest and beautiful. I also make modest dresses. I look recoment neutral colors and in diffrent fabrics for the summer and winters. And if she gets un motivated show her diffrent styles and the bible verse 1 corinthians 11 and icons of saints veiling.. always works
Please get your wife to read the Early Church Fathers starting with Ignatius of Antioch. To be a student of history is to cease being a Protestant- St John Henry Newman. Didache and the Canon of Scripture should shock her. Pax Christi
Do you see any younger women who veil at the Church go to? I veil and I actually started because I saw many young women my age or close to it veiling when I was in college. Now, as your daughters are quite young, this might be less of a draw, but also remember since it is no longer a requirement in the Catholic Church (The SSPX which is mentioned in the video is in schism) I'd really more encourage you to let it happen naturally, you may find it very reverant, but is not wearing one truly less reverant? Is reverance a matter of externals (the veil) or of the heart?

Those "doliy" ones are call "chaplet veil" smaller, often worn by children, but can be worn by anyone.
I started veiling at mass and adoration as a convert during RCIA in 2007. I didn’t know all the theories, just felt compelled by Christ to show public witness of being a “new creation in Christ” by submitting to His will. I didn’t have a lace veil, so I just started wearing scarves tied under my chin like Russian Orthodox women. My first parish was heavily Hispanic and many older women were veiling at early mass, but at a different church later I was the only one - in a sea of several hundred. I felt self-conscious at first but after a few weeks of receiving the Eucharist prepared like this, I only cared what Jesus thought. Now, so many women in my area wear veils, including young women and at the college mass, no one blinks twice. Now I feel naked if my head is not covered.
Do not judge veiling women, any more than one would judge a nonveiling one. The beauty of the Church is that it makes room for this as a personal choice. It is no different than the public witness of wearing a scapular, or a crucifix necklace, or a bracelet with holy pictures on it, or telling someone you will pray for them. And a true understanding of submission to Christ is actually a source of freedom, not suppression.

Catholics are a branch of Christans that the church was made by Christ. The catholic church believes that the church traditions are as important as the Bible. Catholics don't believe in scripture alone. Because if someone can determine what a scripture means they can take things out of context and get heretical ideas from that.
Priests wear beautiful vestments. We use beautiful flowers, candles, incense...all to make beautiful worship for the Lord!
Veiling is A beautiful gesture! And I have worn them in the day! Now a head covering makes me think of Muslim women and oppression! Many cultures are used to this tradition but I know God knows what is in my heart and not wearing one is not disrepectful!

I wore a veil throughout this entire Lent full time and it was wonderful... Each day it was a choice to step towards Christ and it had difficulties... People were staring even though I'm from a predominantly Catholic country, my family wasn't pleased as well (they thought I was converting or something), sometimes I was too tired or discouraged because of other things... But I went through it all and I've never felt more victorious 😊! And I remember how I was telling myself that I wanted to try it out and it's a one time thing but I feel like I'm going to do this again next year and hopefully the one after that as well and so on 😊💪

In context the passage in the bible refers to a *wife*, the point was for women who were married to make it clear in church, and in those days wives would wear a head covering. The other issue is these pretty sheer veils/mantillas just draw attention to a woman's appearance and makes them look pretty (as they well know.) The idea biblically is for the woman (well , the wife really) to *cover/hide the hair* so a sheer veil doesn't really do it- it's 'cheating' to look pretty. And nowadays we don't go round wearing a head covering to indicate we're married. So, a wedding ring or something would do the job.

When i first joined traditional congregation I found my thoughts often wandered to the veil. I still can’t fully verbalize it, but the veil has this immense effect on the way I thought, the way I heard the teachings, the way I felt the presence of Christ…
On the most superficial level, yes, the veiled women are beautiful both young and old, but more than physically.
When you put them together in the church it’s as if they’re supernatural antennae that harness the power of the Holy Spirit and work to funnel the whole energy of the church toward Christ.
Sounds weird, hopefully not borderline blasphemous, but it really has a powerful affect that while I can’t explain, I have in fact corroborated this sense with other men in the church lol
I find the act of visibly humbling myself to outside observers to be the direct opposite of humility.

Veiling is an outward expression of our modesty and humility before God, it is also worship but according to the OT and is a requirement under the law People and churches have misconstrued the requirement of the veil under Grace. We live from the finished work and the revelation that God is seeking a a generation of Christians that are inwardly modest and pure. In other words, the heart. On light of this is veiling still required? No. There are other ways to delight my Lord and they are much more important and significant.

Beautiful take! It is a beautiful practice your take on veiling is absolutely right. "Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" the law of prayer is the law of belief and we forget we are body and soul so as we do the Eucharistic fast as a praying with our bodies veiling is another way to pray with the body and as the law of prayer is the law of belief I've found women who have independently discovered this practice for themselves have really deepened their relationship with God and as you stated deepened their relationship with the Blessed Mother. Other small practices like having the priest face Ad Orentum and.... Lord forbid us receiving the Lord first in a state of grace after going to confession, but on the tongue (Because only clergy have consecrated hands) are just small ways we participate in the mass and pray with our bodies as well. ***now insert my disclaimer that Vatican 2 and Novos Ordo are perfectly fine and are valid forms of the liturgy and it can be done in reverent ways in keeping and not distracting from Sacred Tradition, preferences toward traditional liturgy is not schismatic and just a preference of an aesthetic***

Eastern Orthodox Christian women cover their hair in church
I veil in church because it makes me feel young again. And yes, it helps me concentrate on prayer. The "doilies" were called "chapel caps. The "triangle veils" were called mantillas. We didn't have clips on our veils. They stayed in place pretty well in church. We didn't have infinity veils, but that is the style I prefer now, because outside church I just wear it around my neck. I also have a wire kippah I bought from a Jewish seller; it is quite small, and it does need a comb attached since it is made of metal. After all, the custom of veiling comes from the Jewish tradition. Of course Jewish men [and women too, in my limited experience] wear kippahs in synagogue.
