Guys, I love lobster rolls! But, they are pretty much $35 or higher no matter where you eat these days. Some places are selling them for over $60. This is a delicious budget-friendly dish especially if you're making a bunch of them. As always thanks for watching and liking my videos. The full print recipe is always linked in the description.
The taste tester was so overcome with delight that he couldn't speak...one more bite...one more! This really looks amazing, thanks for another great one.
I love how the taste tester kept shoving more in his mouth without even chewing the last bite! Lol that is the best compliment a chef can get! This is definitely on my next menu for friends. Thanks again for so many great recipes.
I don’t even like to cook…..but I’m mesmerized by his great voice, personality, but mostly how much he loves his son. Oh and the food looks amazing. I wished I lived on Long Island, I would hire him as my personal chef. The jazz he picks is great too. Just fun….
LOL It looked like James was ready to finish the entire sandwich before he talked to you and was lowkey about to push you away for hovering and talking to him :D. That's the best kind of compliment, when they don't even want to give a verbal response because they're too busy stuffing face
Looks great! Will be making this over weekend, especially since it rated an "11!" I just wanted to share a shrimp tip a Louisiana chef told me: If you cook the shrimp until it forms the letter "C," that means its Cooked. If it forms the letter "O," that means its Overcoked. C=C ooked; O= O vercooked. I always wind up with an O, because I'm forced to use thawed shrimp that's been frozen. I dont get fresh shrimp pulled out of the water just moments before it hits my pan. It still tastes pretty good to me, though.😉 Anyway, I thought I'd share that for you folks lucky enough to live on the gulf!
It was fun watching James enjoy the sandwich. I'm fortunate that I can get fresh off the boat shrimp here in SC and make it a lot. Never thought of putting scampi in a roll. Excellent idea.
just a tip. When you are cutting a bunch of cherry tomatoes. Put a plate on them, and cut them in half, but running your knife horizontal with the plate. You can cut several at a time.
Your channel is so enjoyable to watch and it never disappoints. Prawn rolls are one of my all time favourite things, but I have never had it toasted with garlic before. Looks like this will be my new all time favourite 👍. Sending you and your wonderful son James (&family) love and hugs from Australia 🇦🇺🙋🏼♀️
Omg! Making this at the weekend when I have my daughter, I can't wait. I love the way you boy is the taste tester on a lot of what you cook. I do the same with my girl but she is a harsh critique. Thanks again for all your hard work x
Watching your videos give me so many ideas for deviations to what you are cooking up. There are cuban and ciabatta rolls, cheeses and chopped asparagus floating in my head. Hummmm...even crab legs. I wonder...
Really a great show with outstanding cooking content. The taste tester segment with your son is very endearing. Everything about this vlog is authentic. Thank you
I’m gonna do this spin on scampi, thanks for the inspiration. Love the genuine dad / son moment at the end. I have three sons ages 16, 14, and 12. He seems like a fine young man, and you are a big reason for that I’m sure.
So happy to see your channel growing! In such dark & confusing times..this is such a calming place to rest & enjoy good content & good food! Thank you! Be well! 🙏🏾🤍💐
As a 23 year old in ny recently living on his own and loving to cook, your videos are amazing! Super easy to follow, delicious homey meals, and I love that you focus on prepping all your ingredients before you begin. So glad I discovered your channel. Just made the spicy vodka pasta last night (delicious), and looking forward to making this one soon! Cheers!
I just LOVE love his doting solicitation of his son … what a daddy… the food is superb… the child love priceless… what a legacy to leave that becoming man♥️🫶♥️
I'm new to your channel and I am loving it! I especially beam when I see the interaction between you and your son. If ever there was a Dad that adored his boy, you are it! It's nice to see parents interact with their kids this way. Well done! Btw, the recipes are all top notch.
Not gonna lie, I got a little tear in my eye when he gave it an 11. That’s a fine young man you’re raising there. Either that or he’s a Spinal Tap fan.
As one who is growing a bit weary of preparing prawns in the Cajun fashion (My kitchen is the only place in all of South Pennsyltucky where I can get spicy Cajun anything that tastes right), I find myself pondering making a couple loaves of brioche and throwing all this together.
Will definitely be making this especially with the tomatoes, nice touch. James giving it an eleven makes me think of This Is Spinal Tap with the amp that goes up to eleven!!!! He was adorable wolfing down this sandwich in one breath. Hysterical!!
Love this channel for making new things to eat. You’re always straight to the point and more importantly simple and the time frame of making many of these recipes is reasonable. Tried a few so far and they’re all really good. Messed up on a couple but I’ll go at them again. Keep it up!
That young man taste tester at the end was amazing. I love seeing very young people having a great appreciation for foods beyond pizza and tacos!! 👌🏻Great job. Going to make this and sharing the video with my son out of state. This is right up his alley when it comes to shrimp!!
I just used a very slightly tweaked version of your shrimp scampi for my moms 80th birthday and my father in laws 85th birthday dinners. Huge hit both times. Thank you! I'll definitely have to try this one during the spring or summer.
Note the shrimps and tomatoes falling out at 11:14. That's why "real" lobster rolls are in top-sliced hot dog buns, so it doesn't fall out the bottom. Also I'd cut each of the shrimp in thirds and mix it with the tomatoes in some mayonnaise so everything sticks together. But yea shrimp makes a good lobster substitute. I think one little lobster tail in my local store goes for $30.
so this was fantastic and it was very easy to make. i’ll definitely be making this again this summer. I used new england style buns and left my tomatos whole when cooking them.
Just found your channel a couple of weeks ago…made three of your dishes and WOW! My favorite cooking channel for sure. Thanks for sharing your recipes!
When i lived in NYC back in the 70's/80's,my first good Japanese restaurant i went to only served cold Saki in square wooden utensil on top a saucer with the Sake overflowing...I never drank hot sake ever again...The restaurant was very expensive, can't remember the same..but they also had Lobster sushi...
11/10!!!…. Good recommend James the “taste tester”….Love this channel…. Great recipes, with easy to follow instructions for all home cooks…..thanks for sharing Jim….
I just stumbled upon this channel thanks to a youtube rec and holy heck I have not been disappointed! Amazing video- the food looks amazing and the bgm choice is always 10/10
Thanks very much! I love this tune that I just found on another channel named "Josh Sattin". He has some great camera focused videos if you're into that.
I love it when you seem not to know what to do with your hands when you describe something. I do it to. I’m going to try this recipe this weekend. We have a local bakery that does great gourmet hot dog buns and a great seafood place in St. Albert they get in from Maine. Great option.
I really enjoyed watching James taste testing this sandwich! There is no bigger compliment than when our kids barely come up for air. James clearly enjoyed his sandwich! I think I will make this scampi recipe except that I can't do bread. Durum wheat it will have to be. Roasted tomatoes, on top!
This was the funniest James yet. You kept trying to get a response and all we could see is the joy of James eating (his facial expressions were fantastic! He couldn't stop shoveling it in!). I would be that way too.
Just made this for dinner, wife gave it an 11 out of 10 as well! Really good! I added some fresh grated Parmesan on top. The tomatoes are a super important part! Don’t skip them!!
Back in the 70s, we would get shrimp salad hoagies from our favorite sandwich joint here in Philly . After he got to know us, he would graciously scoop out some of the bread from the rolls so it would hold more filling. You might consider the same for the brioche rolls that would hold more Scampi but be less messy while still toasting up buttery and garlicky.
I have been watching this channel now for sometime and love the fact that you use few ingredients and right now with prices soaring that matters to so many people out here so thank you for that sir. My family loves ravioli and yes the frozen ones at the store (because we don't know how to make them hint hint) do you have different ways to cook them up like with sauces and stuff. Keep doing what your doing and don't change to lots of ingredients because that is what happens with cooking shows they turn in to grocery store sellers and people just don't have it to spend 100.00 on one mean it is crazy. The simple staples with meat, cheese, pasta and veges is really what people out here in the real world want so thank you for keeping it simple.
I totally agree with your son! 11/10!! I’ve made this every week for the past two weeks. My husband loves these shrimp scampi rolls! New subscriber from Florida 🥰
My mouth's watering this looks so good! I prefer a bread with a crunchy crust so I think I'll pick up some ciabatta and make this next week. Thanks for the inspiration!
Not sure where you are, but I'm glad you can find it! For months its been absent from the local stores here. Which makes my black bean tortas suffer, lol
Love watching your videos. Your son was the best! He didn't have to say a word to let me know how delicious this dish was. Thanks for sharing Looking forward to more of your videos.

Jim- I am so making these today. Thank You for the recipe.
I am not a lobster or a lobster roll fan (I know, weird) so these sound great!!
Shrimp is so much more flavorful than lobster anyway. Lobster kind of tastes like... nothing
That’s a great idea
I'd never even thought of using a more affordable shell fish to make "lobster" rolls lol. Thanks for the tip!
The taste tester was so overcome with delight that he couldn't speak...one more bite...one more! This really looks amazing, thanks for another great one.
just one bite, everyone knows the rules.
The tester's reaction is the main reason why I'm doing this very recipe tonight for my wife and daughter.
I love how the taste tester kept shoving more in his mouth without even chewing the last bite! Lol that is the best compliment a chef can get! This is definitely on my next menu for friends. Thanks again for so many great recipes.
nothing beats watching your kid loving the food you made
I love it that he didn’t take a breath until it was GONE! Cute kid. ❤
Your son is so sweet! It's lovely how you have this ritual together! I love these recipes!
The complete love and enjoyment you have watching your son eat is so wonderful to watch. Your a great Dad.
Your son eating and not saying a word is priceless! "Take a breath"🤣🤣🤣
I don’t even like to cook…..but I’m mesmerized by his great voice, personality, but mostly how much he loves his son. Oh and the food looks amazing. I wished I lived on Long Island, I would hire him as my personal chef. The jazz he picks is great too. Just fun….

Love that tip, thank you!
The kid's 11 sold me. Im making this for family dinner this weekend.
I hope you enjoy it!
It was fun watching James enjoy the sandwich. I'm fortunate that I can get fresh off the boat shrimp here in SC and make it a lot. Never thought of putting scampi in a roll. Excellent idea.
Jealous!
just a tip. When you are cutting a bunch of cherry tomatoes. Put a plate on them, and cut them in half, but running your knife horizontal with the plate. You can cut several at a time.
I'm SO glad TH-cam recommended your channel. I can't stop watching your videos!

Watching James devour that sandwich made my night. I hope you make them for him all the time Jim!
Your son said all that need be said. Nothing better then watching a child eat something they love.
The burfer weights are actually and originally for cooking flat bacon to prevent it from curling. It is called a bacon pre.
the taste tester has spoken! this looks fantastic. thanks for posting.
Our pleasure!
i love how excited you are for the boy's reaction because I love hearing what peoplethink of my food
Omg! Making this at the weekend when I have my daughter, I can't wait. I love the way you boy is the taste tester on a lot of what you cook. I do the same with my girl but she is a harsh critique. Thanks again for all your hard work x

That was so funny watching James take bite after bite without finishing the one before-an obvious sign that he found this to be delicious!
Don’t know what tickles me more. Trying this recipe for our Friday dinner or hearing James give it an 11 out of 10!!!
Dude! Your taste tester DESTROYED that sandwich! That’s so cool!
My goodness, could your son be more adorable? I love how he loves your food!
Really a great show with outstanding cooking content. The taste tester segment with your son is very endearing. Everything about this vlog is authentic. Thank you
The tomatoes are an excellent addition. This video made me smile out loud!

Appreciate that, thank you.
Nothing better than watching someone eat what you made without coming up for air, that' when you know you made it with love,
Haha you’re so eager to hear your sons thoughts, it warms my heart!
That's a compliment that he didn't come up for air! Looks great. Lucky father and son.
You can really tell the master taste tester was really liking the food. Love !
Taste tester is adorable 🥰.
This shrimp recipe was absolutely delicious! Loved the garlic butter on the brioche rolls too! By far the best!
Love your son’s honesty. Making this tonight!!!
I love that boy of yours. He knows how to eat.
An I really love the recipes that you throw out here every week.
James' head doesn't look so big for someone who's become a backdoor youtube star. Bravo, James!
Great idea! I have Argentinian red shrimp in my fridge and leftover rolls. Making this this evening, thanks for the inspo!!
Enjoy!
I was just taking inventory to see if I had all the ingredients and I do! 🌺 Jen

I just love that little guy!! He is so funny.. He was like, back up! 🤣 That sandwich did look delicious!! Sending good vibes to you all. 🥰 Evelyn
the kid is the star of the show !!!
I'm new to your channel and I am loving it! I especially beam when I see the interaction between you and your son. If ever there was a Dad that adored his boy, you are it! It's nice to see parents interact with their kids this way. Well done! Btw, the recipes are all top notch.

I love that the kid had no words and just kept on eating. Hahaha! Something I would do.

it must be good. the taste tester is really enjoying the food! 10 out of 10!

Grazie paisan for this recipe. I made it tonight for me and my mother-in-law (wife is vegan) and we both loved it. James was spot-on!!
No stopping that young man, he was doing some serious eating there.
The taster is the best part of this recipe.
Father’s pride.
That young man taste tester at the end was amazing. I love seeing very young people having a great appreciation for foods beyond pizza and tacos!! 👌🏻Great job. Going to make this and sharing the video with my son out of state. This is right up his alley when it comes to shrimp!!

One of the tastiest and easiest seafood rolls I’ve ever made from the comfort of my home. Definitely doing this recipe again
Such dad energy whenever the taste-tester's down!

I made these mid week and will be making them again today for lunch. Thanks for this delicious, easy recipe!
i’m currently making and the garlic butter has my house smelling like heaven
so this was fantastic and it was very easy to make. i’ll definitely be making this again this summer. I used new england style buns and left my tomatos whole when cooking them.
Thanks for reporting back to let us know how this turned out for you!
Just found your channel a couple of weeks ago…made three of your dishes and WOW! My favorite cooking channel for sure. Thanks for sharing your recipes!
Watching your son devour that shrimp roll brought back memories of my Son when he was that age! So it just had me laughing....Great video!!
I've seen about a dozen of these videos, and I REALLY look forward to the "taste tester" part. He's a cool dude.

Absolutely love the format and the Master Taste Tester is the best. Reminds me to involve my loved ones in my food process more often thank you
I love shrimp and always buy them in bulk when on sale. There are so versatile. I love this idea and will make it this weekend. Thanks for the video.
This was the funniest James yet. You kept trying to get a response and all we could see is the joy of James eating (his facial expressions were fantastic! He couldn't stop shoveling it in!). I would be that way too.
Best taste tester verdict ever! Made me smile
I made this recipe the other night it was absolutely out of this world!!!! Thank you.🤗
Didn't know you had a recipe blog..I just subscribed. Thank you for having that available so I can make my shopping list easier.
Absolute fan of yours. Keep these coming! I like your spin on these dishes because you encourage a experimentation that others won't.
I don't know what is more fun to watch - your son eating that roll or you you watching your son eating it!!
THAT IS SOME HIGH PRAISE!! LOOKS AWESOME!!
😂James loved this sandwich soooooooo much he couldn't stop chowing it down!😂
James gets an eleven!!!
I want to be a MASTER TASTE TESTER 😩💯every single dish that has been on Sip and Feast has been amazing 🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️

You knocked it out of the park with this one. Lobster is a pain in the ass to source and prepare so this recipe being so accessible is awesome.
This needs a love button. Going to try this for sure.
Been having so much shrimp this summer. Never thought about putting scampi on a hoagie. Can't wait to make.
Looks delish! Love how thrilled you are when your son loves your food :)
Made it a few minutes ago and it was a hit in our family, so delicious! Thank you for such a simple yet scrumptious recipe.
The smile at the second bite told a story lol
Man, he loved it! Excited to make this for friends....Friday night on the back patio. Perfect! Thanks!

What a great father! Congrats man, you're living the dream.
I love the fact that your son is the taste tester. Looked and sounds amazing!!!
This looks tremendous! And I agree - DJ’s Clam Shack is fantastic!
I totally agree with your son! 11/10!! I’ve made this every week for the past two weeks. My husband loves these shrimp scampi rolls! New subscriber from Florida 🥰

perfect...the crusty crunch...yum! love the taste tester's comments
Little man loved it so much he couldnt stop lol
Love watching your videos. Your son was the best! He didn't have to say a word to let me know how delicious this dish was. Thanks for sharing Looking forward to more of your videos.
Love to see the "little man" and " big man" commraderie. Looks so good and easy, you GOT ME, man!! I can do this for company any time!
Good stuff. Kudos to Dad for making it real. Super cool presentation style.
