my brother and I made those after school, but we used sliced cheese and white bread and wrapped the whole thing in foil, cooked in the oven, yummy. That was 50 years ago.
I've had these but I would wrap a slice of cheese and a hotdog in a buttered slice of bread, stuck a tooth pick in it to hold it together and baked it in the oven. We had them for school lunches back in the early 70s. We called them toasty dogs.
I've been doing this type of cheesedog for so long, but you throwing it upside-down on the griddle like that just helped me out 10-fold. Hey John! The grease trap is in the front on the left, so I don't want it tilted backwards. Also unfortunately I have a little extra tilt in the location I'm filming in due to the pavers - nothing I can do for that. Thankfully that's not where I typically keep the griddle!

Looks good!! I have a pro tip about grating softer cheeses...pop the cheese in the freezer for about 15 minutes (until nearly frozen...but not frozen)....it grates beautifully like a hard cheddar. I make pizza every week and I do it with the mozzarella. Works a charm. Oh I just saw that @neilwaseman dropped the same tip about the cheese. See? the freezer trick has more than one proponent lol.

If you don't feel like doing this. Just make s regular hot dog, put the dog and the bun back in the air fryer with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese along the dog, let that melt on top ( you don't need an air fryer you can use anything you can to melt the cheese on the dog. And it tastes so amazing. You can put any other toppings on it you want after ❤
My hometown had a spot that served foot long hotdogs with buns grilled in similar manner. They didn't grill the cheese, but they did salt the griddle, which enhances the crust of the bun. And last time I was in Quebec it seemed common practice to grill their burgers.

And some nice diced up chewy, smoked sweetness of thick slice candied bacon!!! OMFG!!! Bacon IS King!!! Shout out to all my fellow bacon lovers out there!! You know what all can be done with bacon, the possibilities are endless!! I love to experiment and create with that beautiful slab of meat!!! I'm sure I'll get some negative feedback on this post, but it's ok, we're not all the same. I hope I get at least some positive responses, but ill read them all, good or bad. I wish you all the happiest life possible!!
Hey thanks for the comment! Yes - I had a grammar slip up with the jalapeños. I do make mistakes.
I appreciate the engagement and ideas about onions and bacon, which I totally agree with. I tried to keep the recipe as a template for people to go crazy with their combinations of toppings.
Cheers chef 🍻
@@ChilesandSmoke Kudos! I am following recipe but using dill pickles and hot jalapenos. Any cooking video should only be used as a framework for your own tastes!
😮wow! ❤ hotdog 🌭🌭🌭😋
😋
I also watch Mandy in the Making video. She has a grater linked on her Amazon link that I bought to shred cheese. Saves so much time and shreds cheese, carrots, slices as well. Can’t wait to get mine out, gonna make these hot dogs this weekend.
Have to look!
Thanks to your channel, I never stop delighting my loved ones with new, interesting food)
Heck yeah! Thank you!
Dude, you have your own seasoning, custom knifes and cutting boards and 18,000 subs???? Either the best kept secret or not. Subscribed to try you out. Best!
Wow, thanks! I’m hopeful 🙌
Looks like a mess but it’s probably delicious….add some bacon in there
Yes 🥓
@@ChilesandSmoke this is such a great idea to elevate a basic boring hotdog…
you are missing bacon bro !
😅😂
Needs some onions
Yup!
Haha yeah I need to get on it
One time put bacon on a grilled cheese sandwich, and it's still one of the best things I remember ever tasting.
Oh heck yeah
Definitely will try it. But - never ,never use Kraft garbage slices. Buy Land 'o Lakes or Boar's Head white American cheese. It is far superior.
Kraft? You mean Great Value. Can’t nobody afford Kraft. And this Boars Head is just a far off dream
American from the deli counter is superior
however, at least use some decent sausages with a little bit of quality
👍
And there go your old time ball park flavors.
Love this !! Simple and delicious !! Thanks for the idea.
You are so welcome!
I agree with the last comment. I've always liked bacon in my grilled cheese sandwiches. So I would fry the bacon alongside the hot dogs.
It sounds like a huge win
OR use bacon fat instead of butter
great show
Thank you!
Seems solid, I shall try them, thanks for posting.
Heck yeah 👍
I'm subscribing because of this video. Keep making this kind of content, it's great!

Much appreciated!
@@ChilesandSmoke all day bro. 🫡
I didnt have regular buns, so I used New England style buns and grilled the sides after the cheese 'set', added crunch is always welcome.
Thanks for sharing a kicker recipe!
That sounds SO good! I have a heard time getting those here, would love to try it next
Holy moly guacamole! The ideas are endless thanks!🔥🔥🔥

My TH-cam algorithm recommended me this video and as soon as I saw the thumbnail and read the description "grilled cheese hot dogs" I automatically subbed. We must spread the word because these guys are true heroes. 🌭
Haha thank you!!!
Tried these yesterday, and they are extremely good. A lot better than the simple recipe would make you think.
It’s crazy how good they are! Thanks for the feedback
Did you use his seasoning ? Because thats the purpose of his video is to sell you his product.
@@Q_Dawg1950-jb4fu It’s definitely not the purpose. It’s just a fun recipe that can be customized in any way. I do own a small business and appreciate your attention and support.
Wow Thanks ! Imma gonna make these for the family tomorrow , this chilean dog salutes you from Caracas , Venezuela.
Oh my goodness thank you 🙏
I happen to have some Nathan's Angus dogs, Tillamook Medium cheddar, & Monterey Jack in the frig.
Gonna get some nice buns and try this!
Thanks for the video. 🙏🏼🌭🧀
That’s perfect!!
You can put any other toppings on it you want after ❤
Great idea
My hometown had a spot that served foot long hotdogs with buns grilled in similar manner. They didn't grill the cheese, but they did salt the griddle, which enhances the crust of the bun.
And last time I was in Quebec it seemed common practice to grill their burgers.
That sounds interesting, I'll have to test that out
Gotta give it a try !! Looks delicious!
You should!
I'm going to make this and add bacon and hot honey, thank you for the awesome idea man
Ohhhhh hot honey!
Saw your video this morning. For myself I’m a not a hotdog fan, but my wife is. So I made one for supper tonight. She loved it.
Thank you for the tip.
That is awesome! Happy wife happy life
This just popped up for me & OMG I have already had dinner today. I will be making these for my next poker game. Everyone will be wild about a grilled cheese hotdog. Thank you for the idea. Shalom
