I mean, the diamonds may not even hate cross-gem fusions, they may just tell their people that it's disgusting so that they wont use it to get more power, should there be another civil war.
I always assumed that the Diamonds were never _really_ against cross gem fusion for themselves. I figured that they kept the stance that they did because cross gem fusion would allow gems to begin thinking of themselves as individuals, rather than a collective defined strictly by their gem type. Gems thinking in terms outside of their established purpose would loosen the Diamonds' control and ultimately lead the gems to challenge their authority altogether.
I completely agree if a group of gems could create a stable fusion which was the same size as a diamond they would be so powerful. We haven't seen any abilities the diamonds posses so based on that I can't say if they'd be more powerful but just Alexandrite is extremely powerful can you imagine different gems fusing with her!? They might be tough enough to destroy the diamonds no sweat! The diamonds are just brainwashing the gems into slavery by destroying individuality, creating division and using taboo. If they didn't the other gems would have toppled the diamonds a long time ago.
hey the 'color' does not have to be a mix of all of their colors. Smokey quartz is grey and if you put light purple and peach together it makes a lighter purple.
Pink and purple don't make a Smoky Quartz color this is why it's hard to determine what fusion could be made when making a fan version of a fusion for all we know Lapis and Peridot could make a Cinnabar or an Emerald heck maybe Amethyst and Peridot could make a Sodalite I mean purple and green make a brown color so color is hard to determine when making a fusion

What if Black Diamond was a result of war? A mixture of the diamonds power + their enemy. Probably would’ve been destroyed or captured immediately, but i think it could be possible with power and another gem color

The only problem I have with this counter-theory of yours is you dismiss the three Diamond's fusion as cross-Gem fusion because you think they're different types of Gems, but we know that Pearls can be different colors, and they're still Pearls. I don't know WHY Pearls would fuse in a Homeworld setting, but Diamonds are still diamonds whether they are blue, yellow, pink or white.
We don't know their cuts though, at least as far as I know - we've only seen the actual physical gems of two of them. In addition, cut obviously does not denote gem - I can cut a diamond or a ruby as a cube and it's still a diamond or ruby, I don't think we really know the relevance of cuts to Gems as rock people vs. just the rocks.
what if the cluster becomes a black diamond? carbonado or "black diamond" is a real space gem theorized to be formed by pressures caused by a supernova, while the cluster's formation may not be that strong it would be a blast powerful enough to obliterate the earth, what if something pops the bubble of the main cluster long enough for it to blast but the shards re-bubble and the blast both impacts an compacts the cluster? it could destroy the shards or make them into a single gem...theoretically speaking of course.

I know this was old. But the cluster was made AFTER Pink Diamond's shattering. Earth was supposed to be a colony to hollow it out. However once PD was shattered, they decided to put the cluster in.

That's not really what hard light is. The idea behind hard light is that it's light that has been made to behave like real matter. The colors that we see on a hard light construct come from other light reflecting off of them, so a hard light construct can be any color that real matter can be. Besides, we saw a black Gem. Obsidian.

I thought the same as you. but when you said a fusion has the colours of the Base gems mixed that's not always true. in the paint colour wheel orange and blue are opposite but they make green instead of brown (when they fuse to make malachite). and blue and orange don't make green so why is malachite green if she's made from a blue lapis and an orange jasper?

I was referring more to the fact that if Jasper were to be closer to a primary color so that it could mix better with Lapis's blue, it would be yellow because she's closer to yellow than red on the color wheel. If I could say anything, regarding color, black isn't necessarily a full-on jet tone. I mean, that's what black is mainly, but there are several other black colors that have different tones to them.
Maybe Black Diamond is a Diamond in Training. Sort of their brain child, whose Authority (and symbol) will grow over time. Maybe in a few millennia, the black diamond in the insignia would become larger and replace Pink's spot in the old insignia configuration.
one thing though, not all fusions' color schemes are a combination of its components colors. the example you showed yourself, sugilite, has a violet color to her, while her components are purple, blue and red, violet being a combination of only purple and blue. malachite doesn't follow her components' combined schemes at all. blue and orange/red certainly don't make aqua green. smoky quartz, a grey brown color, is definitely not a combination of pink and purple. pink and purple would make some sort of fusion closer to garnet's pallette than a brown grey. It's perfectly possible for the three Diamonds' fusion to be black diamond.
Sorry, but you're either not understanding how colors mix, what "color scheme" means, or that a Fusion can mix and match any combinations of any colors from the component's color schemes. Or all three. I can't tell which.
actually, Rowen is right. The way it works, the color scheme is determined by the real world gem's color. And the real world gem is determined by the crew by looking for the gem that best matches some middle point in color *and* has an appropiate significance. But sometimes, there's no better gem to represent a fusion and you get something that doens't look like the mix of A and B, color scheme wise. So for the fusion of three diamonds or four *not* to be Black Diamond... you would have to propose a more fitting real world gem. And I for one can't think of a better one.

There IS another possibility of Black Diamond: That is IT being a Primordial Gem. A Gem that predates Gemkind as whole. (Doesn't neccecerly have to be a female appearance. Could be a giant humonculoss.) And all other diamonds personalities and traits are simply fractured pieces of it.
If the black diamond does exist somewhere in the stars, could it be, that the reason that we haven't heard of it, or why the gems or even the diamonds themselves haven't mentioned it, is because it was exiled/Banished from homeworld for some unknown reason, and the gems simply didn't know of a forth diamond. i think the small overlapping and the fact that fusion is considered for the weak to jasper and peradot is maybe the fact that the diamonds didnt want this fusion, that it brought chaos and corruption so they tried to get rid of it, seeing the damage it would do to homeworld
I think that there's a green diamond. just look at the symbol/logo/banner? of the new diamond authority like the one where garnet and jasper fought. all the 3 white, blue and yellow diamonds are inside a green triangle probably foreshadowing their fusion of green diamond.
I've been waiting for someone to mention Black Diamond! I mentioned this to a friend last month, but I think that the diamonds are currently "cooking" Black Diamond in a kindergarten on a planet somewhere and that they started trying to form Black Diamond after Pink Diamond was shattered.
my variation on black diamond is that once pink diamond was gone they would need to replace her role in the heirarchy, assuming more diamonds can be made it would take a long time based on real diamonds, what if they were to make black diamond which is infused with graphite and is harder than any other diamond, to ensure it was stronger than ever before, and it then turned on the other diamonds causing the resource shortage and diverting homeworlds attention/why they need the cluster now.
have you ever considered that the song of corruption didn't come about until after the incident in front of blue diamond in regards to garnet's fusion. And/or maybe after news of pink diamond's disappearance the diamonds found a single common resolve which would also explain why the ensignia for black diamond is so small, didn't during the episode for smoky quartz, sardonyx said that the had to have had a common goal to fuse. If that's not proof enough that they're each trying to protect themselves by suppressing the gems they make, i don't know what is. Also keep in mind that after the war the diamonds started making "shallow-cut" gems.

I think that it would be possible that after pink diamond was shattered, they they would try to create another diamond (black or any other colour), but 1. that wouldn't be represented on any old insignia and 2. from what Peridot said about the shortage of materials - they probably wouldn't have the means necessary

I like the idea that black diamond is a diamond that went rouge. Since black diamonds aren't clear crystals but made up out of coundless polycrystalline and graphite she would have a much more chaotic way of thinking and reject order to choose freedom instead. Also I don't think that the Diamonds would even consider fusing, as Jasper stated that "Fusion is just a cheap tactic make weak gems stronger" The Diamonds don't consider themselves as "weak gems", so I don't think they would see a reason for them to fuse.
I really dislike the 'black diamond theory'. It doesn't make any sense for the authority of home world to fuse, because home world frowns upon fusions, and don't think that they are 'correct'. In conclusion, this theory doesn't make any sense, because the rulers of a place that doesn't agree in fusion shouldn't together.
To be fair, the Diamonds follow different rules than other Gems. They are allowed to do things that other Gems aren't. And no one ever said that the Diamonds aren't allowed to fuse.

Unless those were Jasper's own beliefs, and rule against cross-Gem Fusion on Homeworld is specifically there to prevent lesser Gems from becoming as strong as the Diamonds.
AJ Universe that for sure aren't Jasper's own beliefs, because garnet wasn't excepted as a gem. However, I do like the idea of the diamonds not wanting homeworld gems to fuse, because they would become as strong as the diamonds. I'm still suspicious as to why jasper had a lot to say about fusion, saying it was a cheap tactic to make weak gems stronger. If the diamonds did fuse, or do fuse, I don't think jasper would talk bad about a diamond fusion like that. It wouldn't make sense for the diamonds to fuse without homeworld gems knowing the diamonds fuse. We would know if the diamonds fuse, because a character would've said something about it already, don't you think?
It occurred to me that a new Diamond may be currently incubating who just has not emerged so hasn't been added to insignia yet. We know that gem incubation takes a long time, takes a lot of resources, and that Homeworld is short on resources. Maybe making a new Diamond is why they don't make gems like they used to, as Peridot said.

Yes it does. Smoky is a color between light brown and purple, which is one of the colors that you can get by mixing rose pink with purple.

I don't know WHY Pearls would fuse in a Homeworld setting, but Diamonds are still diamonds whether they are blue, yellow, pink or white.
We don't know their cuts though, at least as far as I know - we've only seen the actual physical gems of two of them. In addition, cut obviously does not denote gem - I can cut a diamond or a ruby as a cube and it's still a diamond or ruby, I don't think we really know the relevance of cuts to Gems as rock people vs. just the rocks.

what if the cluster becomes a black diamond? carbonado or "black diamond" is a real space gem theorized to be formed by pressures caused by a supernova, while the cluster's formation may not be that strong it would be a blast powerful enough to obliterate the earth, what if something pops the bubble of the main cluster long enough for it to blast but the shards re-bubble and the blast both impacts an compacts the cluster? it could destroy the shards or make them into a single gem...theoretically speaking of course.

powerhouse extreme its impossible to say where the cluster black diamond's loyalty would be you would have to factor the following. 1.black diamond would be its own gem but may suffer the tragic memories of Rose's war(including the shattering of each shard) potentially driving it mad. 2.if 1 diamond found out about black's existence they would probably attempt to sway her to their side portraying the CGs as the villains using pink's shattering as a prime example. 3. Steven may want to help this gem but the other CGs most likely wont, shattering may be wrong but they may see black as too dangerous as a threat, pearl herself may attempt to catch said diamond off guard an try to quickly shatter her and by failing causing black to either get mad an fight or scared an flee(like into space perhaps).

I know this was old. But the cluster was made AFTER Pink Diamond's shattering. Earth was supposed to be a colony to hollow it out. However once PD was shattered, they decided to put the cluster in.
obviously the cluster was made after pink's shattering an the first retreat of homeworld, HOWEVER its also been vaguely suggested pink diamond was a kind diamond who would be against the geo-weapon, earth was planned to be hollowed out but pink's zoo wasn't, who's to say pink was gonna fully go with the original colony design an hollow out the earth destroying all life other than the crystal gems who have been known to act while not knowing the full story an refuse to tell Steven what they do know.

It's questionable if black gems would even be possible since the Gems are hard-light constructs, and black is literally what you get when light is absent. And yes, I know that black gemstones exist in real life, but I'm talking about the species of gems.
That's not really what hard light is. The idea behind hard light is that it's light that has been made to behave like real matter. The colors that we see on a hard light construct come from other light reflecting off of them, so a hard light construct can be any color that real matter can be.

I thought of CMYK too, because in that system of colors, the merging of cyan (blue), magenta (pink) and yellow, result in black. So maybe black diamond could be a fusion of those diamonds?

I thought the same as you. but when you said a fusion has the colours of the Base gems mixed that's not always true. in the paint colour wheel orange and blue are opposite but they make green instead of brown (when they fuse to make malachite). and blue and orange don't make green so why is malachite green if she's made from a blue lapis and an orange jasper?

If we're talking about Jasper, then yes, she is orange and her gemstone is orange. I was referring more to the fact that if Jasper were to be closer to a primary color so that it could mix better with Lapis's blue, it would be yellow because she's closer to yellow than red on the color wheel. one thing though, not all fusions' color schemes are a combination of its components colors. the example you showed yourself, sugilite, has a violet color to her, while her components are purple, blue and red, violet being a combination of only purple and blue. malachite doesn't follow her components' combined schemes at all. blue and orange/red certainly don't make aqua green. smoky quartz, a grey brown color, is definitely not a combination of pink and purple. pink and purple would make some sort of fusion closer to garnet's pallette than a brown grey. It's perfectly possible for the three Diamonds' fusion to be black diamond.
Sorry, but you're either not understanding how colors mix, what "color scheme" means, or that a Fusion can mix and match any combinations of any colors from the component's color schemes. Or all three. I can't tell which.

The way it works, the color scheme is determined by the real world gem's color. And the real world gem is determined by the crew by looking for the gem that best matches some middle point in color *and* has an appropiate significance. But sometimes, there's no better gem to represent a fusion and you get something that doens't look like the mix of A and B, color scheme wise.
So for the fusion of three diamonds or four *not* to be Black Diamond... you would have to propose a more fitting real world gem. And I for one can't think of a better one.

If the black diamond does exist somewhere in the stars, could it be, that the reason that we haven't heard of it, or why the gems or even the diamonds themselves haven't mentioned it, is because it was exiled/Banished from homeworld for some unknown reason, and the gems simply didn't know of a forth diamond. i think the small overlapping and the fact that fusion is considered for the weak to jasper and peradot is maybe the fact that the diamonds didnt want this fusion, that it brought chaos and corruption so they tried to get rid of it, seeing the damage it would do to homeworld
I think that there's a green diamond. just look at the symbol/logo/banner? of the new diamond authority like the one where garnet and jasper fought. all the 3 white, blue and yellow diamonds are inside a green triangle probably foreshadowing their fusion of green diamond.

I've been waiting for someone to mention Black Diamond! I mentioned this to a friend last month, but I think that the diamonds are currently "cooking" Black Diamond in a kindergarten on a planet somewhere and that they started trying to form Black Diamond after Pink Diamond was shattered.

my variation on black diamond is that once pink diamond was gone they would need to replace her role in the heirarchy, assuming more diamonds can be made it would take a long time based on real diamonds, what if they were to make black diamond which is infused with graphite and is harder than any other diamond, to ensure it was stronger than ever before, and it then turned on the other diamonds causing the resource shortage and diverting homeworlds attention/why they need the cluster now.
have you ever considered that the song of corruption didn't come about until after the incident in front of blue diamond in regards to garnet's fusion. And/or maybe after news of pink diamond's disappearance the diamonds found a single common resolve which would also explain why the ensignia for black diamond is so small, didn't during the episode for smoky quartz, sardonyx said that the had to have had a common goal to fuse. If that's not proof enough that they're each trying to protect themselves by suppressing the gems they make, i don't know what is. Also keep in mind that after the war the diamonds started making "shallow-cut" gems.

I think that it would be possible that after pink diamond was shattered, they they would try to create another diamond (black or any other colour), but 1. that wouldn't be represented on any old insignia and 2. from what Peridot said about the shortage of materials - they probably wouldn't have the means necessary

I like the idea that black diamond is a diamond that went rouge. Since black diamonds aren't clear crystals but made up out of coundless polycrystalline and graphite she would have a much more chaotic way of thinking and reject order to choose freedom instead. I as noticing the similarities between Rose and Peridot. Both came to Earth to do a job, both rebelled against their diamonds and both worked in Kindergartens. We all believe in Steven but what if Peridot is the one to shatter her diamond. When she poofed Jasper she ran a piece of metal right through her. Maybe with the right provocation Peridot could shatter a Diamond by aiming for her gem.

Also I don't think that the Diamonds would even consider fusing, as Jasper stated that "Fusion is just a cheap tactic make weak gems stronger" The Diamonds don't consider themselves as "weak gems", so I don't think they would see a reason for them to fuse.

I really dislike the 'black diamond theory'. It doesn't make any sense for the authority of home world to fuse, because home world frowns upon fusions, and don't think that they are 'correct'. In conclusion, this theory doesn't make any sense, because the rulers of a place that doesn't agree in fusion shouldn't together.
To be fair, the Diamonds follow different rules than other Gems. They are allowed to do things that other Gems aren't. And no one ever said that the Diamonds aren't allowed to fuse.
AJ Universe well.. to be fair, I also didn't say that the diamonds aren't aloud. I am saying that homework doesn't believe in fusions, as jasper said in jail break I think it was. With that being said... it would make sense that those rules are there for a reason. The rules are there for a reason. The diamonds made fusion a bad thing on homeworld, so it wouldn't make sense for them to fuse.

Unless those were Jasper's own beliefs, and rule against cross-Gem Fusion on Homeworld is specifically there to prevent lesser Gems from becoming as strong as the Diamonds.
AJ Universe that for sure aren't Jasper's own beliefs, because garnet wasn't excepted as a gem. However, I do like the idea of the diamonds not wanting homeworld gems to fuse, because they would become as strong as the diamonds. I'm still suspicious as to why jasper had a lot to say about fusion, saying it was a cheap tactic to make weak gems stronger. If the diamonds did fuse, or do fuse, I don't think jasper would talk bad about a diamond fusion like that. It wouldn't make sense for the diamonds to fuse without homeworld gems knowing the diamonds fuse. We would know if the diamonds fuse, because a character would've said something about it already, don't you think?
It occurred to me that a new Diamond may be currently incubating who just has not emerged so hasn't been added to insignia yet. We know that gem incubation takes a long time, takes a lot of resources, and that Homeworld is short on resources. Maybe making a new Diamond is why they don't make gems like they used to, as Peridot said.
