I love Estelle as a voice actress in this series--it's clear that she's not a professional (at least in comparison to her co-stars), but you can tell she's giving it her all and just has such charisma. I love it. Love her. The few times Garnet laughs in this series give me *life*
I’m curious what things make it easy to tell Estelle isn’t a professional? Bcz i never really noticed anything but i have no ‘knowledge’ per se on stuff like that and o really loved how her voice perfectly captured Garnets persona
@@look4thestarss I think it really depends: In the case of Estelle, this was her first major acting credit, so it's safe to say she went into it without a whole lot of experience. Her delivery can be a little dry at times (especially early into the series) as opposed to the more "animated" way her co-stars speak. This is not at all to say Estelle had to be super animated and outgoing in her voice acting, because that's not what Garnet as a character needed. She needed to be very strong, carefully spoken, and dry in her delivery because she is the leader of the Crystal Gems--this delivery, despite my criticism, still works in Estelle's favor. But as you watch the series continue, you hear how she starts to add a little extra personality to Garnet's lines while still maintaining that same strong, dry delivery. My favourite aspect of Garnet's personality is her relationship with Greg. For the biggest part of the series she was the only gem who treated him like a person, respected and believed in him, even encouraged him to not give up on his relationship with Rose despite their obvious differences. She was wise and understanding enough to not think of him as some inferior being incapable of doing things right (she was the only one who thanked Greg for decyphering Lapis' message while Pearl and Amethyst were too busy freaking out), and didn't blame him for Rose's death, as it was *her* decision to give up her physical form. Heck, when she unfused upon Pink Diamond reveal, it was *Greg* Ruby ran to for support and advice, and it's saying something. I wish there were more Greg&Garnet moments where they just hang out and talk about stuff like love and grief of losing someone (as they both suppresed their pain from Rose's loss unlike Pearl and Amethyst).
This is one of the many reasons i love Garnet sm. She is so supportive of everyone and usually avoids unnecessary anger outbursts towards other characters. She’s always there for positive reinforcement and guidance when needed especially in how she constantly trusted Steven in his endeavors and didn’t put him down when he failed. One could say it’s because her future vision lets her to know that there is a chance it will turn out well but her reaction to failure is always so nurturing and sweet and she is hardly ever patronizing or condescending if she is at all.
Garnet is literally made of love. She is the the healthiest of the healthiest- meaning there is not a toxic part in her. There is litteraly nothing wrong with her. 💖
There are actually flaws to Garnet. Sapphire may be coolheaded, but when fused with Amethyst, Garnet goes berserk, all that coolheadedness can go out the window.
I mean, she's great, sapphire and ruby's relationship is pretty much perfect (as close to it as one can get), but there is kind of a toxic part of her and the gems, garnet and pearl were pretty much steven's only mother figures, and they weren't too great at that, since they kind of just left him alone at home for days alot of the time, and also didn't really let him express his feelings too much, rarely asking him about how he felt, which is fair enough since they're gems and don't know how humans work, but still, the crystal gems are very far from perfect

The episodes she gets are often the best episodes of the show but after season 1 almost all of her appearances are about fusion which is a shame as she is more than just the fusion of the group.

Garents literally impossible to beat, one shes incredibly strong and two, she can see the future and can predict your moves through her future vision. So she might be the strongest gem ever if you think about it

Ngl I totally understand Jamie's reaction. Garnet is the best character in the show. Because she is so awesome though, it's a shame it feels like her character arc was completed super early in the series nd she doesn't seem to get as much plot centric episodes and moments as she deserves
The episodes she gets are often the best episodes of the show but after season 1 almost all of her appearances are about fusion which is a shame as she is more than just the fusion of the group.
She also has a nice mass.
i guess thats why shes so great, Garnet represents a complete love, when shes in scene that means both Ruby and Sapphire had solved their problems

Really, Garnet is, really, one of (if not THE) best characters of the show. All the image of love and just how her existence transcends it; her way to act so cool and awesome everytime; Estelle's divine voice that fits her perfectly; all of this. Personally, my favorite moment of the show is that last part shown, at "Stronger Than You", where she sings:
