She could be very observant as an observer gem, which she has the powers for after all. I still think Lapis used to be part of the ruling gems before the diamonds took power.
Merilirem But the why would Lapis follow Blue Diamond? Also, Gems are made by Kindergartens, which are built by Diamonds. We have absolutely no idea how old any of the Gems are, or what existed before the Diamonds.
Well yeah, we don't know if gems can form naturally or not but there is as much evidence that they started that way as their is that they didn't. Its all left to guesswork. Why would Lapis follow the diamonds after losing a war to them? Because she lost a war obviously. There are lots of ways you could end up in such a position and for a few the diamonds need not even know who you are, just another Lapis Lazuli. We know so little that pretty much anything is possible at this point, even if it's as crazy as rose being pink diamond. Until we get it disproved or even evidence against it, we can make whatever theory we want with what we have. That line about her being Lapis Lazuli when she first appeared made me think that she was actually saying HER name was Lapis Lazuli, not that she was a Lapis but that SHE was Lapis. Of course there is no evidence, but trying to argue against it is pretty pointless too atm. It all becomes a matter of guesswork against guesswork. So i'm having some fun while it lasts, and if i'm right it makes it all the sweeter that i went with such an over the top theory.
6:42 I always thought her reasons would be how if it wasn't because of the Crystal Gems none of that would of happened. Yes she was mistaken for a crystal gem but only because of what the Crystal Gems did. 6:52 I find that makes sense, the crystal gems is a movement. I find it would make much sense that the idea would be presented to many especially since Lapis was on Earth doing another mission Also are you sure she was questioned for a thousand years? I thought it was around the end of the war when she was questioned. (I many be incorrect in this regard)
I remember seeing something somewhere (maybe on this channel, I can't remember) that Lapis was a reporter of sorts. She could have first encountered humans doing research on them for the diamonds.
Fantomex I never said that they weren't. But remember what Steven said in "Three Gems and a Baby"? They did grow, as people. Knowledge and experiences change people even if they aren't physically growing.
That still doesn't explain how she would know so many contextual euphemisms for what a fart is, unless she was just doing it at the end or pauses in all of Dewey's sentences
Lapis' yelling "Don't put me in charge!" still sticks out to me and causes me to think she may at some point have had a position(even a small one) of power around other gems, but something caused her to regret having had that position...or something to that effect. If it were a relatively small position, that could explain why Jasper was so quick to just yank Lapis around rather than give her some type of respect. Also, I'm surprised at how amazed Jasper was at Lapis' power calling her a monster(but maybe that's just due to the strong negative emotions that she was forced down with). You'd think that Jasper would know what a Lapis Lazuli is capable of, but maybe our Lapis is a special case. Then again, Jasper just may not have seen a Lapis Lazuli with access to so much water. Also also, I wonder how much of human culture Lapis could have learned from watching camp...pining hearts?
Actually, Lapis do rank highly in gem hierarchy. They aren't high enough to be royalty but not low enough to be commoners. I'd say they're of noble status like Sapphires are because of their unique abilities and purposes. Sapphires are psychic and Lapis bring sustainable living environments for other gems to be grown on on different planets. In short Lapis literally provides life on other planets.
AJ Universe but is...seeing as how we were given the purpose of Lapis. You speak of canon in the point of view of one lapis and not the gem type as a whole.
Were we given the purpose of Lapis? No, we weren't. We got a one-word explanation for what she does. No details at all. And the purpose that we were given makes no use of her psychic abilities aside from her hydrokinesis. Combine that with the fact that she was imprisoned by her own people before they even bothered to double check that she was an enemy, and there is far more canon evidence for her being, at most, middle class. She's definitely not as high class as Sapphire. I don't see any reason to think that any Lapis would be.
AJ Universe again you're looking at this from the point of view of a specific lapis and not the enitery of the gem type. Sapphires see the future making them valuable. lapis terraform. Google what terraforming is and you'll see why lapis are extremely essential to gem society.
Is there any particular reason why you think Lapis wasn't of high importance in Homeworld? True, she's not of diamond importance, but she has some very unique and powerful abilities. I think she could be of similar rank to what Sapphire used to be. Seeing as Blue Diamond's area of expertise is intelligence (not sure if it was your video, you might disagree on this) Sapphire's ability to see the future places her high in the hierarchy. I think Lapis' ability to recall the past in great detail would be of similar importance.
The Gray Pet I agree. I was thinking she was of high rank but because of her perceived traitor status she was stripped of her status and treated like a commoner.
***** Perhaps, though I personally think she was more of a scout. Gathering info to direct the process of choosing which planets to colonize. She can certainly do both though.
I personally think she's probably a more common Gem-type than Sapphire. Sapphire had to be called over from Homeworld in order to speak to BD. During "The Answer", we see several Lapis Gems that aren't our own in BD's court. They were a high-class enough Gem to be so close to BD, but were either much less important than Sapphires, much more common, or both. Otherwise, their safety would have been valued higher and more or all of them would be kept away from the fighting at Homeworld unless BD had a specific task for them. Lapis's lower rank could, in part be because in the thousands of years since she was trapped, technology and/or a change in HW's methods has devalued her Gem-type. Even if she wasn't the rarest Gem before, she's likely lower on the totem-pole nowadays. Of course, this thought isn't airtight. "The Answer" was at the start of the conflict, before things got really bad, and we still don't have confirmation of a Lapis's role 6000 years ago. If so many Lapis Lazulis were on Earth because they were needed despite their rarity, comparing the number of them to Sapphire is pointless. We also don't know how many Gems HW had at the time, and what percentage would be considered "Rare Gems". While the overall population of Gems could be huge, the aristocratic or more specialized Gems could number in the mere 100s or even single digits per type. Or there could be thousands of each, spread across all the colonies of HW. For all we know, her treatment could simply have been a result of the suspicious nature of her return to HW. (Sorry if I went overboard. I tried to stop myself before I typed too much, but I have a habit of thinking a lot about lore.)
CinnamonOP I think the simple answer is that we don't know her place in the gem hierarchy, but she is very powerful. Speaking of powerful: Where do quartzes stand in the hierarchy? If Lapises are truly scouts then they might have been about as common as quartzes. Though we should also keep in mind that the more powerful a gem, the less there are. Diamonds make less powerful gems so they can prevent any serious uprising (or so they hoped). Same reason why cross gem fusion was very frowned upon and why peridots were lied to about their powers.
I don't think anyone's noticed how Lapis knows about flirting ( in "Hit the Diamon"), unless it's something that used to happen between gems (which i find unlikely) she must have observed it among humans. This episode also occurs before she moves in with Peridot and starts absorbing human culture like soap operas and such. Does nobody think this is important?
AJ Universe exactly so when she used it (as you would do with a cellphone) lapis would learn some things and be elsewhere other than pearls gem and the warp pads. But what I don't get is why pearl would keep the mirror as it is clearly broken and was broken ever since she found it I wonder what happened if she used it in the past.
AJ Universe it could be possible that lapis could here things in pearls gem and as you said the mirror is an established piece of tech but why would she keep a broken one?????
I think that would explain her reluctantness to join the crystal gems now. She blames Rose for starting the rebellion and alienating her from other home world gems. What if lapis got caught up in human culture and actually wanted to protect them, but didn't want to leave her home world entirely and rose targeted her as a traitor?
I mean to say that Lapis through camp pining hearts and Peridot's internet access, probably has more insight on human culture than Garnet and Pearl combined despite less time spent freely on earth. Maybe not as much as Amythest, but we know why Amythest would be the most knowledge since she spent the most time around humans.
I believe that lapis lazuli's are used as some kind of reporters on home world since lapis and probably all lapises have been shown to replay memories and can fly so they get to observe with out interacting. And if that's true I believe our lapis was the one tasked with the duty of observing humans and other life forms on earth since either that was protocol or the crystal gems were already using humans in the war, and because of this lapis learned about humans and Rose thought she had seen the beauty of earth through her observations.
Yeah. I wonder if the Rubies took over that job? they are low ranking soldiers that are "expendable" Lapis lazulis would be more costly to send. the traid off is reliability.
but pearl ones said "how could i have known that the gem in that mirror was so strong." so how would lapis be a part of the crystal gems. lapis prob got the term crystal gems back from home-world in a meeting or something she was prob a high class gem in home-world because of her strength, that would explain why lapis ones said "i wonder how home-world is doing without me." but it would not explain why home-world would think lapis was a crystal gem well i have a theory for that. lapis was a common gem troop in the crystal gems, but our lapis was a vary strong thats why she was a high class gem.
I'm glad you went back to fix this theory and at the same time make a newer and better one. I hope you make a theory update soon to make up for other theories that need work or need an update
I like revisited theories. It's nice to see current evidence and detective work further, disprove, or change your past theories. You're pretty thorough in your theories so I'm pretty pleased whenever you upload one.
3:30 about the discount thing. they went shopping... all of the crystal gems got into the van and most likely bought all the party supplies for Andy, like they grave and the ballons and the cake. they carry the items in papeeru bags implying they didn't steal it. Pearl probably figured out how to shop considering she's seems to know the most and is the most responsible also it's her idea. so basically the gems went shopping at a shop where they have discounts. lapis just probably learned/figured out what a discount was during the time that they went shopping
Neither would knowing humans thousands of years ago. Individual cultures change over time, and come and go. But the tendencies of humans - their fundamental natures, their social instincts, their range of emotions, their capacity for humor, etc. - are relatively more universal within the species regardless of culture.
Right, but the zoomans didn't have any of those traits. They were actively encouraged to remain homogeneous and not to stand out from each other in any way. They didn't have any emotions that they weren't told to have. They didn't have humor. Unless Lapis was there when humans were first brought to the zoo, the zoomans wouldn't have been much different thousands of years ago. Humans on earth would have. They _would_ have had emotional diversity, and self-expression, and humor.
What I'm suggesting is that Lapis actually may have visited the Zoo thousands of years ago, when it was new. She was poofed and her gem cracked partway through the gem war, right? Nothing says she couldn't have visited the Zoo even before the war started. I'm not saying she absolutely did, but I'm saying it's a realistic possibility that she could have.
Being wrong about a theory isn't necessarily cringy. Especially if it was a well thought out, well put theory. It doesn't hurt to be wrong. I would like to know a bit more about the show's lore. I'm not complaining about the more character driven episodes, I just think it's about time for lore. Not progress, but lore.
but when she asks if they know who she used to be she goes directly for Garnet. that kinda hints she knows/remembers about the aristocrat and common soldier that fused right in front of her diamond. she blames them for commencing the conflict with HW.
AJ this is an excellent theory video. Lapis as a character is so mysterious and I think this is a really interesting way of tying Lapis' knowledge of humans to the lore in a realistic way. I would not be surprised to see if Lapis did refuse getting involved in the war, and that is part of her initial distrust. Also, there's a big chance that she is one of the people at court during Garnet's first fusing, so I would love for that to be explored by the show because you're right, it doesn't seem accurate that she was only around for a short time and more like she experienced much more of the world than she initially lead on.
Peridot's twitter shows that she doesn't know what money is at first. Then she searches the definition. So Lapis, being her roommate, would likely learn this also since Peridot likes sharing her knowledge. This was posted before the thankgiving/autumn special was out- quite a while before. So the discount joke is probably a product of Peridot's search for knowledge.
Lapis knew about discounts bexause they JUST returned from the store. Peridot was complaining that they had to pay for things. Lapis' response was that they should at least get a discount for saving the world. That's the context of the joke. I think your theory is great, but the foundation for your claim is weak.
Gems "age" differently than humans, so their perception of time is likely different. A "short time" is completely relative in that sense- Where as "short time" may be a few days to us, it may be decades, even centuries to a gem.
she's seen the entire world through her gem in the mirror. She probably learned everything from rose and pearl talking and asking the mirror questions..? maybe?
I never thought that her making the fart sound was her correctly using body humor but noticing a pattern of action and response. Steven made the sound and she noticed the other humans laughed so she repeated the sound to make Steven laugh. It seemed like mimictry
For the comment around 3:50 about Lapis' use of language, I think it's really hard to pull any assumptions from this sort of thing. The show is frequently cavalier about how the Gems use English. For example, think back to the episode where Steven first releases Peridot from her bubble in the temple - a lot of the jokes in that episode (and those following) revolve around Peridot not understanding simple human/Earth objects or concepts. But at the same time, she uses phrases like "unbridled rage" when hitting Steven. If she doesn't know what toothbrushes, toilets, or rain are, why would she know what a bridle is? And more generally, you could argue that the gems - even those on Homeworld - all naturally speaking perfect English similarly doesn't make sense. I think the "turn of phrase" stuff is just that, and it's hard to draw further solid conclusions from them.
While I was watching this video I was thinking about how years might be short based on Homeworld's location relative to it's star. Being the reason 1,000 years are nothing to gems, not because of how they "age".
More evidence: Right after she was freed from the Malachite fusion, she knew what flirting was and how to recognize it in Ruby and Sapphire. Unless Homeworld gems are at least some what interested in romance/love/sex (unlikely), she would have to have learned that from humans much earlier.
To add to those parts where Lapis knows a lot about human culture, if you remember in "Hit the Diamond," when Ruby and Sapphire are talking and Steven is confused about what there doing, Lapis comes up and says "there flirting." Just bringing that up
I thought Lapis said "Did you even wonder who I used to be?" meaning she was assuming the Crystal gems knew she was a conscious gem inside the mirror and was asking if they wondered who she had been before being in the mirror. That does not necessarily mean they did know who she was.
I had the idea that someone approached Lapis before her imprisonment about her feelings on Earth. We do see "a" Lapis present in The Answer, so that might be what she is refereeing to when she blames the Crystal Gems.
What if Lapis befriended a human and learnt everything from that human, then saw the human either get killed or suicide (or something dramatic and scarring like that)
I think that Lapis was at first mimicking steven in mirror gem, and she may have seen someone drown before she got put in the mirror. She has also spent quite the amount of time on earth and she has watched tv shows and has been seen reading a few times, so i think she is just fascinated by how earth culture works in recent episodes.
Well Lapis knows that Steven is Rose Quartz, we know that from Arrival. Maybe that's why she feels so close to him as opposed to the other gems who she never met before. Maybe that's why she actually talked to him and not the other gems.
I think that Lapis gained all of her knowledge about the Crystal gems and humans through constant observations in her mirror as that is the only thing she could do
Tini Knose She wasn't really in a position to see a lot. She was stuck on the was pad and then in pearls pocket space. I don't think she would have gotten a lot of continuous time to observe people.
Lapis didn't learn about humans by observing them but I'm 100% sure she learned human culture from a human TV show and I mean, Peridot could've learned with her
I think you're right in terms of lapis knowing too much about humans than fits her backstory, but maybe it's because of her role when on homeworld more than anything? As seen in the episode the Answer there is a gem in Blue Diamonds court that looks remarkably like lapis, and I would argue that even regardless of that, just based on her outfit, that she is indeed was one of Blue Diamond's gems. From what we've seen of Blue diamond thus far, she seems to be the main front of colonisation, and maybe yes the diamonds don't care so much for aboriginal life to the planet they are plundering but maybe Lapis' role or part of her role was to familiarise herself with the earth's inhabitants or at least learn about them in some way? That could explain why she was only meant to be on earth for a little while, a quick research mission. Maybe learning about humans was a side interest to her real role of terraforming or exploring the best place for a kindergarten. I do agree however that she may have connections to Rose, I just think maybe there's more to it than that, even if it's just a little thing like self education. Interested to see what comes in Lapis' story, Shes definitely my favourite dark horse at the moment.
In the episode alone at sea, Lapis freaks out when she is asked to be in charge. what that got me thinking is- what if as the homeworld gems were loosing a lot of good gems in the war and with lapis being a high ranking gem and all, The diamonds were desperate and made lapis lead a troop of quartz soldiers but accidently lead them to failure and as they were retreating that's when bismuth poofed her. it's kind of far fetched tell me if I'm wrong.
Sharkcaster wood the episode when Andy comes in and makes a lot of noise about aliens taking over is nice American barn is in parallel with America's political climate. it's not just a kids show you want nonsense let your kids watch SpongeBob otherwise there will be greater lessons presented
Great theory I just can't help but notice .. even though she was aiming for all the crystal gems they showed her hit garnet with the water hand.. and we do see that a lapis lazuli with a back gem is there in blue diamonds court when ruby and sapphire fuse.. maybe she got backstory with one of them? Because we never see her and garnet interact directly ? I don't know I might sound dumb but it just seems like foreshadow to me
I still think it's funny that Lapis's power is hydrokinesis. Every gem is made for a purpose. What was hers? Peridot implied that there wasn't water on homeworld. So either Lapis was made in a time before homeworld "dried up" or she wasn't made on homeworld at all. The latter would support your hypothesis.
Some of your points are good on Lapis knows Rose from before is good, however, one thing. One reason Lapis may know about human things like discounts is because she has been watching T.V. and may be picking up on stuff like that. But she may be picking up on them better then Peridot is because she may have lived briefly among humans before.
She's been watching at least 5 seasons of camp pining hearts over and over, and who knows how long. also shes always with peridot who has been on earth studying humans long before her.
I think that Lapis was probably somewhat aware of what was going on around her when she was in Pearl's gem. This could explain how she knows so much about human culture.
another thing that should be considered is that lapis's entire purpose of being in the mirror was to project what she had seen including what she had seen during her time as a mirror. Is it to far fetched to assume that she had obtained slight knowledge of humanly fuctions from see them over that particular point in time?
The build up to the theory was a bit shaky cause, yeah, Lapis totally learned Capitalism from ancient humans /sarcasm. But the actual theory is pretty solid. I can definitely accept this. I'm actually more curious now about her short time before the war and how long that time is since time is meaningless to gems anyway.
I have a different theory. I do think Lapis and Rose knew each other at least in passing but not because they both observed humans. I think they were both part of the colonization of Earth. Rose was possibly a Kindergartener and Lapis was probably part of Terriforming or weather control. Probably Lapis expected to do her job and once a suitable replacement had been grown from the Earth she would return home, but for the time being she worked with Rose and probably others, like Bismuth (who built monuments for the Diamonds). When Rose split from Homeworld, some of those who were also involved with the colonization (like Bismuth) joined her, and those who didn't were most likely suspected to be involved in some way as well or have information (like Lapis) even if the truth was that they weren't involved at all. Hence why she was put in the mirror. I think Lapis's knowledge of humans doesn't come from before she was put int he mirror, but rather after. While inside she had very little to do and most likely observed everything that happened around her, at least some of which would have involved interactions with humans. She might not even have spent all of her time in a mirror in the possession of the Crystal gems, but may have been passed along between humans before pearl recognized it as a gem object.
well, lapis has been shown reading books and watching show with peridot and peridot has a tablet and acess to a lot of social media, and lapis is like always with peridot so i'm sure shed know what a discount is or at least some certain things about human culture
what if lapis was a messenger for homeworld to tell if a planet is able to be collonised and that homeworld wasn't going to send ships to a planet just to be destroyed. for lapis to tell if the animals and humans were easily conquerable, she would have to get to know them, their weaknesses and strengths.
When Lapis said she was meant to be on Earth for a short time, just remember how Pearl always says when referring to space "We should arrive there in *only* 50 years" as if its like a 2 hour journey on a plane. Maybe she was on Earth for almost a century seeing as terraforming takes time.
There's a lot of really great evidence here, and I do think our Lapis and Rose had some kind of interaction that prevents her from telling us about her own opinion of Rose, even if its just as simple as she didn't like or dislike her, she just wanted to not join her, if that's even the potential case. I'm so excited for this season and the rest of what this show will bring come 2017!!! Thank you for this awesome vid like you always give us, AJ.
She was pretty seemingly aware of steven from within the mirror, could it be that she was able to observe the earth at all? But then nah cause that probably contradicts some stuff from the one where she and steven flew over jersey...
I always theorized that she was an assassin. Which is why she is able to classify others so correctly, and why everyone always refers her as "a monster".
I personally think it's because before she even really knew he was much of a gem (much less ROSE QUARTS) Steven himself told her something angry being friends and how has name was Steven.
I think lapis was there to try and in the Vedas crystal gem forces as a spy like figure because of the fact she can fight yet she is not very big and could easily be seen as just an innocent champ trapped on earth for chipping crash or something like that
i think that the only reason why lapis knows that much about humans is that she was observing everything from the mirror, she was listening to gems talking, and maybe gems sometimes were taking her with them for some informations. (sry about my english (if i made some mistakes))
What's the most popular ship in the show?

Lapis has been watching TV for months, she's probably worked out quite a bit of how the world works.
"What are you doing Lapis?"
"Leeeaaaaarrrrrrrrniiiinnnnggggg"
That was an X-Men Apocalypse reference if you didn't catch it.
Robin Burn she's been shown reading quite a bit too
Oh right! Camp pining hearts must've had stuff like discounts and payments!
+Asith OMG SO FUNNY XD I GET IY
You're right. That explains how she already understood human biology and behavior while she was trapped in the mirror. How could I have been so blind!
Lapis might know about discounts from binge watching Camp Pining Hearts.
Dilos1 75
I agree but contrast with Peridot. She has been binge watching too... Of course Peridot is not at socially aware as Lapis.
She could be very observant as an observer gem, which she has the powers for after all.
I still think Lapis used to be part of the ruling gems before the diamonds took power.
Merilirem

Maybe Peridot didn't think of any good reason to mention "discount", whereas Lapis did.
I don't know, we really need more Lapis episodes , like an arc
cristolabalahumana oh god yes
I've been waiting for that arc since episode 25.
m I agree
There is going to be on April 9th can't wait 😀😊
What if the time Lapis was on Earth wasn't actually that short and was only short to her?
6:42 I always thought her reasons would be how if it wasn't because of the Crystal Gems none of that would of happened. Yes she was mistaken for a crystal gem but only because of what the Crystal Gems did.

Cottonball Poofs Sounds familiar tbh o.o...
Fantomex Just because you're ageless doesn't mean time won't have some impact on you.
Fantomex I never said that they weren't. But remember what Steven said in "Three Gems and a Baby"? They did grow, as people. Knowledge and experiences change people even if they aren't physically growing.
Well ya know, Peridot makes her watch a lot of TV and we've seen her reading at least twice so she may have picked it up from there.
TheApachacha Before she was healed too?
Beca A. M. Marques
I'm talking about how he goes on about how she knows what a discount is : P
TheApachacha how does she (or peridot) know how to read in the first place?
TheObsidianX
Well Peridot memorised the entire musical scale after hearing it once. It doesn't seem like a stretch.
TheObsidianX
You're wondering why she can read and I'm here wondering how and why does every single gem know English.
Nice theory, but I think the reason why she knew so quickly about the "fart" joke is because she heard people laughing, so she mimicked Steven.
dun dun dunnnn
um i thought lapis knew about the fart joke is when she was trapped in the mirror and when Steven did the fart joke maybe she liked it
That still doesn't explain how she would know so many contextual euphemisms for what a fart is, unless she was just doing it at the end or pauses in all of Dewey's sentences
It’s so hilarious watching you guys talk physiologically about farts
Also also, I wonder how much of human culture Lapis could have learned from watching camp...pining hearts?
when did she say "don't put me in charge"?
OLIVIA SCANLON I remember that now! thank you :)
Sharkcaster wood So why did you watch/click this video?
I was just gonna ignore them tbh. They're making SilvaGunner fans look bad.
Yellow diamond mentioned a Lapis in her song, so she has a rank just like Agate or something.
That's...not at all based on the canon. You really shouldn't just guess at this stuff.
I'm really not. You realize that all Gems of the same type have the same role and status, right?
Lapis could know about discounts because, according to the episode, they had just gone to the store.
Also, I loved the video. Keep it up
Is there any particular reason why you think Lapis wasn't of high importance in Homeworld? True, she's not of diamond importance, but she has some very unique and powerful abilities. I think she could be of similar rank to what Sapphire used to be. Seeing as Blue Diamond's area of expertise is intelligence (not sure if it was your video, you might disagree on this) Sapphire's ability to see the future places her high in the hierarchy. I think Lapis' ability to recall the past in great detail would be of similar importance.
The Gray Pet
I agree.
She can literally drown an entire ocean and she's way stronger than Jasper, i dont think she can be just an scout
Lapis was also the only gem to know the concept of flirting the episode "hit the diamond" which is strange.
Dezmond Williams
Yeah and that was before she could have gotten it from Camp Pining Hearts.
And Lapis also gave them the thumbs up after they were flirting
Well, Lapis did just go to the store in the episode. That is why she knows of discounts
Does nobody think this is important?
you know your a really good theorist and u have a great imagineation that ties into reality is reall amazing
bravo to u
She probably gained her knowledge by being in that mirror. Who knows what all she saw during her time in there?
She was either at the Galaxy Warp or inside Pearl's gem during that time.
AJ Universe but pearl would have used it how would she know what it does in the mirror she probably heard som things
+ Kit Message It's an established piece of tech. She knows what a history mirror is the same way that you or I would no what a cell phone is.
Bismuth did target her and poof her, and she has that "Us Or Them" kind of mentality during the war.
There's also Camp Pinning Hearts, which probably has a bunch of holiday episodes and other things about human culture
CallMeRemy lol
+ Elijah What do holidays have to do with anything?
Holidays are a part of tradition and culture, they have to do with everything important to this video.
+ Elijah They don't celebrate the same cultural holidays in SU, so no, they aren't.
Unigoat JJ
I like this! I think it makes sense.
I would say _we're_ used since she was made in "era 1" and now she doesn't understand homeworld.
Yeah. I wonder if the Rubies took over that job? they are low ranking soldiers that are "expendable" Lapis lazulis would be more costly to send. the traid off is reliability.
but pearl ones said "how could i have known that the gem in that mirror was so strong." so how would lapis be a part of the crystal gems. lapis prob got the term crystal gems back from home-world in a meeting or something she was prob a high class gem in home-world because of her strength, that would explain why lapis ones said "i wonder how home-world is doing without me." but it would not explain why home-world would think lapis was a crystal gem well i have a theory for that. lapis was a common gem troop in the crystal gems, but our lapis was a vary strong thats why she was a high class gem.
or something similar at least
I didn't say that Lapis was part of the Crystal Gems. At all. I said the opposite, in fact. You watched the video, right?
yeah i did. i might have heard wrong. let me rewatch. :)
Ok, what i meant to say is how would lapis have anything to do with the crystal gems
ExploitEnterprise She wouldn't. Homeworld only thought that she did.
I actually think Lapis might have been the overseer of the Human Zoo.
I mean seriously, look at the gem that replaced the overseer!
I kinda wonder what lapis was made for
a messager
jaelon meggs yep, a diplomat too
jaelon meggs more like a scout or terraformer
A scout, messenger, and/or they are used to clear out water from planets that have it.
Overseer Lapis lol.
this is pretty convincing. i really like your theories
Lapis probably understands humans a lot more because of watching human TV. (Camp Pining Hearts)
"reflect the truth" is that a mirror pun?
maaaaybe
Tourmaline 726
Yeah. He always makes terrible puns at the end of his theory videos.
Maybe Lapis spent a good deal of time in Pink Diamond's Human Zoo, studying the zoomans.
That wouldn't teach her anything about human culture.
No. She was on Earth before the war started and was caught by surprise and poofed in the first large scale battle.
Great theory AJ! I'm impressed by your ability to make new interesting and insightful theories from old episodes. Keep up the good work!
I really hope this theory is canon
i think lapis just watched too much camping hearts and got knowledge of human stuff from that show :P
Yes, these ideas seem to reflect the truth.
Mewtwo's Movie Studios Was that mirror joke intentional?
This was a really good and well put together theory!❤️
Blue Diamond is a diplomatic gem. She deals with culture. As Lapis is from her court, she could have learn it there.
Do you think you'll continue to do RWBY reviews, even though they don't seem to be getting as many views?
Yes.
but when she asks if they know who she used to be she goes directly for Garnet. that kinda hints she knows/remembers about the aristocrat and common soldier that fused right in front of her diamond. she blames them for commencing the conflict with HW.
she has been watching human tv.....
that makes sense, also we can see her reading a beauty book in another episode.
"Sometimes I even impress myself"
I'm impressed by his humility.
I really loved this theory and after watching a few of your Theorys I'm definitely subscribing
Also, there's a big chance that she is one of the people at court during Garnet's first fusing, so I would love for that to be explored by the show because you're right, it doesn't seem accurate that she was only around for a short time and more like she experienced much more of the world than she initially lead on.
i enjoy that you acknowledge when a theory is wrong and work forward from that.
3:22 anyone else think he was going to say "she was just being Sardonyx?"
I made the video, and I still thought that that's what it was gonna say while I was editing.
I like this video, nicely consistent.
This guy is great with theories
His theories actually makes sense!!!
Lapis knew about discounts bexause they JUST returned from the store. Peridot was complaining that they had to pay for things. Lapis' response was that they should at least get a discount for saving the world. That's the context of the joke. I think your theory is great, but the foundation for your claim is weak.
love your channel hope you keep making content
Gems "age" differently than humans, so their perception of time is likely different. A "short time" is completely relative in that sense- Where as "short time" may be a few days to us, it may be decades, even centuries to a gem.
You might be on to something!!! I like this theory!
she's seen the entire world through her gem in the mirror. She probably learned everything from rose and pearl talking and asking the mirror questions..? maybe?
Now I don't normally like these kinds of theories But I really liked this one because it had a lot of evidence to back it up
I never thought that her making the fart sound was her correctly using body humor but noticing a pattern of action and response. Steven made the sound and she noticed the other humans laughed so she repeated the sound to make Steven laugh. It seemed like mimictry
I Was Also Thinking About The Discount Thing Before You Release This Video LOL
This is great! Gives me a lot to think about
You probably just uncovered either a Gem spy or double agent... I wonder which one it is.
I absolutely LOVE this theory!
The humans from 5000 years ago may have had fart jokes, but had not have "discounts". She probably got that from that TV series she and Peridot watch.
What if Lapis befriended a human and learnt everything from that human, then saw the human either get killed or suicide (or something dramatic and scarring like that)
Maybe Lapis is just so cynical and sarcastic that she has decided to ignore her own lore
I think that Lapis gained all of her knowledge about the Crystal gems and humans through constant observations in her mirror as that is the only thing she could do
Tini Knose
She wasn't really in a position to see a lot.
I think lapis has so much backstory we need to learn because as you said we basically don't know much about her or Rose for that matter.
She freaked out because she was "in charge" of the Malachite fusion, and was scared of what she might do if she was given power again.
Sharkcaster wood It's more than a kids show, if you can't see that then I shouldn't explain it to you further
MelvaCross She terraforms planets, presumably to make suitable conditions for kindergartens.
I wonder how this theory changes now that we know that lapis azuli gems are made for terraforming
Is it to far fetched to assume that she had obtained slight knowledge of humanly fuctions from see them over that particular point in time?
hey in the song thats all yellow diamond says lapises are use for terraforming
Amazing just amazing, I can't believe Stevers universe still has something to say man I wish Steven universe was't just kids show
You really like that Pearl explaining how to make a rocket clip don't you?
well, lapis has been shown reading books and watching show with peridot
and peridot has a tablet and acess to a lot of social media, and lapis is like always with peridot so i'm sure shed know what a discount is or at least some certain things about human culture
What happened to the other Lapis video?
Aliea Clark i was wondering the same thing bc i haven't seen it yet but doesn't work. Maybe the theory was right and that's why cn claimed copyright?
what if lapis was a messenger for homeworld to tell if a planet is able to be collonised and that homeworld wasn't going to send ships to a planet just to be destroyed. for lapis to tell if the animals and humans were easily conquerable, she would have to get to know them, their weaknesses and strengths.
How come lapis didnt adress Steven as rose like the other gems
I personally think it's because before she even really knew he was much of a gem (much less ROSE QUARTS) Steven himself told her something angry being friends and how has name was Steven.
It would actually make sense, I'm with you 100% on this theory
I think lapis was there to try and in the Vedas crystal gem forces as a spy like figure because of the fact she can fight yet she is not very big and could easily be seen as just an innocent champ trapped on earth for chipping crash or something like that
i think that the only reason why lapis knows that much about humans is that she was observing everything from the mirror, she was listening to gems talking, and maybe gems sometimes were taking her with them for some informations.
(sry about my english (if i made some mistakes))
I think that she just saw and heard things in the human world while in the mirror. That's why she knows human terms/ jokes.
drinking game drink everytime you see the clip of some red gem attaching lapis to a mirror and/ or holding it
