  • The next pistol, after the '85 Colt's, on my "journey to the righteousness of the 1911" would have to be the Springfield Armory Range Officer Elite Operator (what a long and terrible name). Due to being a struggling college student, I soon found myself searching in the slums of the European 9mm district for some fast and cheap fun. What I found there would change my view of 9mm forever.
    While I forgot to say it in the video, I, of course, want to thank the sponsor of today's video Guns.com, who has probably the best URL for SEO traffic- EVER. HAHA. GDC always has a great selection of 1911s in their Certified Used, so make sure you check them out!

      Agreed. Especially @ the price point it was originally at.

      Since Springfield armory just released the TRP model and it's a huge success, it should only be some time before they release another model

    My only 2 cents for the channel is that the B roll footage of details you’re talking about are a definite plus 👍🏻 I see alot of videos with people bitching about something that they don’t really show you. And to the Stan Chen magwell 😎 oh yeah! 👍🏻👍🏻 lol she is a pretty little thing. I’ve got one on my ported 4.25” 10mm 1911 with a holosun PID light. Great little carry gun 🫡 I hope you have a great weekend brother. And remember…..carry cocked and locked 🇺🇸

    Eli this was my first 9mm 1911. I tricked i out with all 10-8 performance mods. Also has all tool steel internals now. Love this gun

      That's not a bad thing! This gun has a Wilson Combat slide stop, which I failed to mention in the video. However, it wasn't swapped due to a parts breakage.

    Love Springfields for the price point, yet big mistake getting rid of the Range Officer series and producing the Garrison. Grips are paper thin!

    • @1776_duck
      @1776_duck  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the thin grips are a "pass" for me. Luckily they're easy enough to change.

    Similar to you, after 15 years of pounding cases of 45acp I got tired of the ammo bills, broken guns and hand fatigue. Being an auto mechanic, my hands don't need any help. I bought a pair of Springfield Garrison 9mm 5inch stainless 1911s. Haven't had to use the spare, burning rounds through the main one and carrying it 24/7. No issues, very accurate... Box stock. I do think the recoil springs are a touch light, i should probably drop a Wilson flat wire 13 pounder conversion in it. But, excellent pistol. Doesn't rust with me sweating on it all day, outshoots any striker fired polymer 9mm on the market ....and probably beyond springs will never wear out. Bought a pair though so I have an identical spare for when I'm at a class or training event. Now ..... The hunt for a 9mm officer begins. Any suggestions? Great Video! God Bless.

    Do you like cz 75's at all ? I'm wondering because I love 1911 pistols and hi power pistols my dad has a colt government model nickel plated series 70 full size 45. And I love all John Moses Browning's pistol designs we are all forever indebted to him. I find the cz 75 SP-01 to be the perfect gun for me it's been my dream gun since I was a little kid and still is to this day I've found nothing that I enjoy as much as a CZ 75

    They need to put front strap checkering on that price point on a 1911

    • @1776_duck
      @1776_duck  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At its original price point, I don't think front strap checkering is expected. The new Operator, yeah, you could make a little argument for.

    One thing I can’t stand about Springfield is they don’t undercut their trigger guard.

    I enjoy the channel and the content of this video. I agree with an earlier comment, B roll of the gun as you go through the features would be nice. It's not needed but I feel it would be an improvement.
