    I hope these manufacturers understand just how respected you are in the industry. When I consider a gun, I look to see if you have reviewed it. I have purchased 5 guns over the last two years with the confidence in your reviews. You never let me down once. Thank you so much for your channel, and keep the reviews coming sir!

    I was VERY hesitant in buying this. I mean very. I love the look of it but had such a bad experience with the 9mm Professional that I paid nearly 5 grands for that I ended up selling. The 9mm would constantly fail and jam and nosedive and I never could get it right. I got the Operator today and it is miles upon miles better and hasn't caused the same issues out of the 100 rounds I first fired compared to the Professional 9mm that right out of the box jammed. I'm guessing the 1911 was truly made for the .45.

    If people are onist with them selfs and really has no biases no Springfield probably makes the best production 1911s on the market, now I’m not talking about hand built guns I’m talking about mass produced guns, I really think any gun Springfield makes is top notch, I am a fan but I’m a fan of ruger, s&w, sig, h&k hell I’m pretty much a fan of all gun makers but the Springfield 1911s are on another level

    I’ve had the TRP Operator for years and it’s been a fantastic firearm. My TRP has a bull barrel instead of a traditional bushing system. Honestly, I’d rather have traditional bushing. I’d still rather have my TRP but this Operator looks to be a good pistol. And I don’t know if I’d buy a new SA after the crap they pulled and never really recognized.

    That stiff slide stop with empty mag is to protect the gun from somebody dropping the slide forward, like you happened to do, on an empty chamber. That damages the gun when done repeatedly. When there is a loaded mag, the slide stop allows you to send the slide forward, chambering a round. This process absorbs the significant energy of the spring sending just the slide forward. That is a normal action for the gun and does not damage it.

    Sootch my first 1911 was a parts case made up from a stainless VEGA frame, colt series 70 slide, and a mix of other parts. It took 6-8 months work out the bugs. But once it was running it ran well. 20 year later, a nice factory tuned Kimber made my life easier, smooth running, no stoppages the 20 years had taken it toll on the VEGA. As a matter of fact the Kimber will be my EDT to day.

    I was fortunate to pick up a Springfield “Long Beach” Operator that is nearly identical to Sootch’s review gun. It is an excellent pistol, but in that $1K price range, the Sig Tac Ops has the edge. Extended slide catch, factory magwell, external extractor, and a more beveled profile without all the sharp edges on the Springfield. The Sig also came with 4 Wilson Combat magazines from the factory. I never regretted buying the Springfield though, and either would serve perfectly as a defensive pistol.

    • @RichTinker
      @RichTinker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I chose the Sig Tac Ops too. All the reasons you listed are why it has the edge. Then I saw the new Operator and couldn't resist. Love both these 1911's! Great Firearms.

    • @Sk8inbacon
      @Sk8inbacon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just bought an operator last night. A sig fastback scorpion caught my eye but when I was checking it out I found the trigger felt like dragging a grand piano across a gravel beach. I handed it right back. Also looked at a magnum research 1911 that actually felt like everything was on ball bearings, and only 3/4 the price of the operator. No rail though.

    • @MattH-wg7ou
      @MattH-wg7ou 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went with the Sig 1911 Extreme even though I don't like the flat trigger. But I still find myself wanting a more traditionally designed 1911 (traditional slide profile, internal extractor, etc).
      But would I rather have an HK USP45? I dunno.

    • @MattH-wg7ou
      @MattH-wg7ou 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also like that the SA is a 70 Series. Not a fan of the 80 Series as in the Sig.

    ….. I’m just coming back here after all these videos over the years to say that this channel has cost me a shit load of money lol.. I’m what you call gun-rich now … I tell people I’m into Gear Investments when asked what I do.. I wouldn’t change a thing though. Found a ton of great products through this channel that have served me well for years and still does.. I wish I could find a range like he goes to.. it’s hard to find a good outside place where I am, or anywhere even close.. I’d love to go someplace for a weekend and be able to target practice outside like this.. even just a day would be awesome!! When I was a kid there were tons of places, but now not so much.

    Just picked on up this morning. Feel very solid. Did a full tear down to clean and lube. Feels very tight. Wish this had checkering on the front strap. I'll use skateboard tape for the time being. Everything feels good. But will need all new holsters as the rail won't fit any regular 1911 holsters. Fits my Streamlight TLR-1 1,000 lumen light perfectly. Lit of thr box the trigger measured 5.25 on my trigger scale. I'll out some rounds out first and if it does not settle in, I'll have a trigger job done.

    Springfield makes real quality guns, this one is no exception. Thank you for making these great and informative videos, I own two Springfield 1911’s both 9mm one 95% Custom engraved and the other two tone, real pleasant to shoot about 2000 rounds on each and not a single malfunction. 1911 Lover, but my favorite is the Les Baer SRP 45ACP😀

    I just got my CC and I'm buying a 1911 for my first gun. Buuuut I don't have $1400 for this one specially, so I'm looking at a Cimmaron brand. My buddy has a Kimber model and that thing is great 👍

      I kinda agree it’s Overpriced for a 45acp especially for a 1911, the 10mm ronin is only $800-$900 and it looks better, I’m assuming they are adding extra cost due to the rail?

      Buy something you can afford to have taken away.
      After it does it's job, it will be taken away, no matter how righteously you used it.
      It may come home one day, but no guarantee.

    I have the cheapest Springfield 1911 you can buy, and it is flawless. They know how to make them.

    "Operator, how may I place your call?" It is funny how marketing can get people to buy stuff. Just another 1911 variant but I am sure that the "Operator" name will make some buyers feel special. When I was in the service a very long time ago, I carried a 1911, and these days, there are so many better choices than the 1911. It might be a good .45, but it is essentially a 110 year old design that is bulky, heavy, and capacity limited.

    Excellent review as always...BUT a bobbed beaver tail is the only way to go otherwise it's just a "Giant" hook waiting to get hung on something in the midst of use.

    11:23 You're absolutely right! Modern 1911s are far more comfortable to shoot than the old GI format 1911s, which is what I grew up with.
    With the tang top grip safety the edges of the 1911's tang are exposed and can bite the web of your hand under recoil. I've gotten cuts and or blisters from that. The beavertail grip safety eliminates that issue.
    The GI format 1911s have serrated steel triggers. Issue with those is that they tend to scratch or blister your trigger finger under recoil. The aluminum triggers do away with that issue.
    While I love my grandpa's old Colt Government Model 1911A1 dearly and will always cherish it for him, it's my least favorite 1911 format. I was stoked the day I added a Springfield Garrison to my collection!

    Old Snake’s main handgun in MGS4. According to Otacon, it ‘pre dates the system’ so it isn’t ID locked so Snake can freely use it.
    Love to fire a real one. Maybe I’ll travel to the US someday.

    Very nice gun. Don't have a 1911 with a rail yet, but lately I've been thinking about one. I guess the only thing I don't like about this gun is the ambi-safety. Just not my preference, although I do have some 1911s with ambis.
