Thanks everyone who submitted models last time around. I may need to re-think how I do this in the future since dropping 40+ min videos isn't ideal (never spent so much time editing before lol). The big HF update crashing down in the middle of this changing the rules of chest-pieces and whatnot also complicated things somewhat. To the Three who got their models updated - don't sue me if I messed something up plz
I AM GRATEFUL THAT YOU MADE THIS LITTLE EXCEPTION FOR ME. I love your videos and your ideas, and your tips have always helped me a lot, like for example this trick you did on the goblin king's sword, making the sword look magical, this trick I will definitely use in the future. Thank you very much for your consideration and for your videos. And one day you will get one of my statues in RNG. And about the comment about the colors, I liked the idea and I'll try to make it more "dirty"
You’re perfectly fine derf! 😂 it was an old model I revisited every now and again to put new stuff on, I think you did an incredible job! I’m honored you reworked him.
Thank you for recreating my miniature Derf! I was the 1st and it looks awesome. I have started to use custom colours more so I hope my miniatures will get better. Thanks again (you’ll also be hearing from my lawyer).
Esteban has never looked better, my friend. The biggest problem I've had with him was always the indecisiveness of what I wanted him to be. Was he calm? Was he maniacal? Would his hunger for power override his sense of good? Or would he always be calm and collected? I really appreciate all the changes, and I must also apologize, as my amalgamation of ideas might have made you a bit confused lol. I should have also expressed that you had complete freedom to change him physically, like his hair color, his outfit, his hair style, because I myself never came to a clear conclusion on what to dress him in, what to make of his facial features, heck, even his hair style/color was never set in stone. As a matter of fact, before I sent it over to you, he was wearing the og detective look that Hero Forge gives us, I only updated it because these new clothes not only fit his theme, but mainly because they had more detail. A lot of his features were also inspired by your tips, like his gloves, which I specifically learned from you, and the (not so much, but still)clever use of custom colors. I love the new additions as well, like some decals on his face, the new scarf(which I always went back and forth on if I should give him one or not), the rings are fantastic, the use of lighting really puts emphasis on the book and it's powers. And to end this comment, a few things worth mentioning, first, the nature of his book and his powers in general: So, Esteban was first created as a regular wizard, he was even human in the beginning, later turned into an elf because the class features from my TTRPG system, Tormenta 20(which should get an English compendium on Roll20 in a short while), really helped to power him up. In Tormenta 20, the Arcanist-Wizard class just learns spells upon level up, and uses MPs(Mana Points) in order to cast him: since my party was always travelling and Esteban clearly had no way of learning new spells, I just kinda "homebrewed" a magic Spell Book, that automatically filled it's pages with a new spell every once in a while, this fit well because of the Studious origin, which gave me an "enhanced book" that gave me +2 on Mysticism(basically Arcana, if you look at d&d). I went on to perfect this backstory by including Nimb and Tanna-toh into it(the gods of chaos and knowledge, respectively[and you already know that story]). Now here's where it gets interesting: in order for your player character to become a Minor God, all they need to do is reach level 20 and have 1000+ followers, meaning that, theoretically, a level 20 character is comparable to a God, so it makes sense how Esteban unlocks more spells as he levels up: he is slowly becoming a God, and after each level, he reads deeper and deeper into the powers of the 2 gods, and since he was rejected from Arcane College for being "too fixated on destructive magic"(not sure if I mentioned that the first time), you can guess where this gets him. The original plan was, once we achieved level 20, I would give the DM an idea consisting of the group venturing into the anti-creation area of the Tormenta(hey that's the name of the system, whaddya know[it's complicated, I won't get into it, but as I said, the Roll20 compendium should come out soon]), and Esteban would cast a Wish spell, in ritual form, sacrificing all of his MPs in order to destroy all of the Tormenta. I honestly don't think that would fly, but I loved it. And the second thing was, well, this is based on Tormenta 20, a brazilian TTRPG that was made possible by monetary contributions from the fanbase(and some ideas too). I love this system to death. I really hope you don't mind long comments, else I've been _tormenting_ (ha!) you with these. Feel free to ask me anything about Esteban or Tormenta 20 if it interests you, I'll be glad to answer, as I'm sure I might have left something out.
I'm a supernerd, I don't mind infodumps. I actually think the mix of ideas here worked together fairly well and they gave me a lot to work with, so I didn't mind. I just figured I'd make some jokes about it with the editing :D As for how much I'd change characters - that's something I should have decided earlier on before I announced this thing to let people know if they wanted me to stay true to the original design or go crazy with it, but since I hadn't asked (my bad), I figured I'd take a middleground and try to stay mostly true whilst still changing some things.
@@Derfholm That's completely fair, taking someone else's idea and giving it your own spin can be tricky, if you don't get it right, you might upset that person. But I really don't mind, the way I see it, people should describe the character, highlighting aspects that are integral, and anything left out would be free game for the artist's interpretations. Unfortunately, it's impossible to know if everyone else subscribes to this idea or not, or if they might have left something important out of the initial description. In the next video, let us know if you'll be continuing this series, I might even send in some other characters(you mentioned this might take longer than you expected, implying it is a lot of work, maybe even a bit tiresome, so I won't add on to the pile without your consent). Also, I don't know where else I would get the chance to say this, so here: I really like your Hero Forge avatar you've been using the past few videos, it's very creative.
High praise indeed from a man of your calibre sir, I will however be learning extensively from your lofty crafts of colour and light. I'm bloody good, but you; are on a whole different floor. (additional: Thane doesn't clean his sword..... THAT, is why your better than me sir. That is an inspired piece of visual characterisation.)
Looks, great. If you plan on doing another one of these, let me know where to submit, cuz this looks interesting. Great work and best wishes to you, m8.
Last time I included it at the end of the most recent video I made 'Heroforge Rookie Mistakes'. However, since that was a bit obscure, I will probably find a way to make it a lot clearer for next time so more people can easily see it and take part! TLDR: Yes, I will, and ty for the kind words
If you’re still curious, the closest english expression for “tårta på tårta” is simply referred to as “too much of a good thing” as in, too much of a good thing can make it less special
Hey! This is a very old video, and I did recently drop one which went over some of the new features of Mount Customizer - however, I haven't made a proper guide on it. Still, I recommend you check out some of the newer stuff, it's a lot better than these old shoddy guides
Funny you should mention that. I have actually figured out a trick to do just that, but it requires 2 models stacked on top of each other. Going to feature it soon, but it's obviously a very niche thing that only Pro users can abuse Beyond that, I imagine we get closed eyes when the face customizer comes out
Welcome aboard! I'm afraid I do not - I could upload them all to the HF Community page but a lot of shit just gets stolen off of there. However, you are not the first person to request this kinda thing, so - I might look into finding a custom page where I can upload all of my models and just link that below each video, it's not a bad idea.
Last time I announced it at the end of the most recent video I dropped 'Heroforge Rookie Mistakes'. However, you are not the first to ask, so next time I do this I'll make it clearer with its own little dedicated announcement!
Would be so cool if someone would include galleons and horse's with carriages, i know scaling with the original content wouldn't work with Heroforge...a bit of a shame.
Talespire has support for them. You can also use them for Roll20. But putting them into games specifically isn't really the main purpose of all of this. The creation of characters itself is the main draw for me personally, but I say that from the perspective of a wannabe writer

That glowing effect from the book was phenomenal !!!!! So glad to have subscribed and hope to watch more fantastic vids. Bravo!!!!!!
Thank you thank you! Hard at work on some new ones
Last one's pose is pretty awesome
Hey derf, I really like your videos. Convinced me to buy heroforge pro :) thanks for the inspiration
Happy to hear it! It's well worth if you ask me
It is a great model! My OCD is going crazy because of the flag through the hat. LOL.

Honestly, I feel you could do something like pop cross studios, with his monthly redraws, but instead you just redesign characters once a month
how do you get a model to be an option to be picked
