Nier Replicant might have the best OST ever?! Definitely a game I need to get around to sooner rather than later. That and the Yakuza series feel like two glaring omissions when it comes to my PS4 game playing experience. Also I had NO idea The Last Tinker had a physical release! It's supposed to play very similarly to Jak & Daxter Precursor Legacy so, you know, the premium good stuff. I have it digitally and have been meaning to play it 😎 I'll make a deal...you show me proof of credits in Wolfenstein: The New Order, and I will spend whatever time it takes to beat Impossible Lair. That just seems like a solid gentlemen's agreement! Excellent video to round out a great series of collection videos!
How do we have sooo many bangers and so much left to play, on just the one system?? I love these videos because it’s cool to go through game by game and really see what we have. Nier’s music is amazing and I’m so glad we got to listen to it in person. lol at you getting congested in real time
Definitely saw some games I'm interested to check up on latter. "The Girl and the Golem" from part 1 is a shoo-in for now but I'm going to have to research a couple others. Anyways, as promised, i think I do have some recommendations to give of my own, though not all of them are PS4 exclusive. I'm just hoping I don't bring up something you've already mentioned, it's easy to lose track of what you already brought up since there was so many. But yeah, as always, no promises. I guess first and foremost, I really want to recommend "Mad Rat Dead". It's a 2D rhythm platformer, very much like "Crypt of the Necrodancer" or "Hi-Fi Rush" where you have to input actions at the timing of a beat. With different songs, and difficulty settings, affected the BPM and rhythm. But on top of that, it also has a surprisingly touching story that you wouldn't expect about a colorful game where you play as an angry, undead rat. You mentioned liking horror related games and I think I got a couple of those as well. Most prominently would be "Darkwood". It's top-down survival-horror heavily based on Slavic influences, leading it to have a rather unique atmosphere. You explore during the day but then have to try to survive the night by any means as enemies stumble into or raid your base. Aside from that, I guess maybe the second and third "Yomawari" games might be interesting, "Midnight Shadows" and "Alone in the Dark" respectively. They are isometric exploratory games based around Japanese yokai and other folk tales. Though they're not really scary per-se, more just spooky. One game I don't really see covered much is "Blue Fire". The best way I can describe it is that it's an action-adventure game akin to "Legend of Zelda", "Wind Waker" in particular due to having a similar aesthetical style, but with a much larger emphasis on platforming. I think you mentioned "Teslagrad" at some point so I suppose I should bring up "World to the West". Technically speaking, this was the unofficial sequel before the actual sequel. It takes place in the same setting but in a different location entirely. Gameplay-wise, it's basically an isometric puzzle game where you navigate this open world using 4 characters, all of whom have their own abilities of course. Heck, one is even a Teslamancer with some of the same abilities from "Teslagrad". You only control one at a time though but you can swap between any of them at select checkpoints. But when you swap, all the uncontrolled characters remain where you left them at other checkpoints, so you are constantly working to figure out how to get everyone to where you need them, which often requires you setting things up with one character so another character can then proceed after. I'm very big into 2D action-platformers but there are just so many to mention, all with their own gimmicks or styles. "Sundered", "Smelter", "Cogen: Sword of Rewind", "Dark Devotion", "Sword of the Vagrant", "Carrion", "Afterimage", "Rabi-Ribi", "Lapis x Labyrinth", etc. Just, way too many. Though if I'm going to highlight one, it has to be "Ender Lilies". While it doesn't have what I'd consider to be an unique gimmick, it's just solid all around. A very somber and beautiful aesthetic, really polished and diverse gameplay, a wonderfully haunting OST, etc. I cannot recommend it enough if you're into those types of games. And heck, it's even getting a sequel soon-ish, "Ender Magnolia". I'm also very into RPGs but I'm a little more hesitant on recommending those. That said, I do want to mention "Mistover". It's kind of a weird mix of genres, it plays like a Mystery Dungeon until you enter battles which are basically just a spin on "Darkest Dungeon". So its very much not a forgiving game if you mess up badly. Though that said, the game does come with various modifiers that allow you mess around with stats and other difficulty options, essentially creating your own custom experience. Unfortunately, the game has been delisted everywhere (both on consoles and Steam alike) so getting it physically is the only way to play it now. And, at least for us, that means importing the Asian copies with the English text option. And that's the main reason why I wanted to mention it, since it's essentially being forgotten due to unavailability. Well, I got more but this should be enough for now. Can't ramble on for too long. Hope at least something in this spiel of a comment ends up interesting you.
Daaaang thank you so much for all the recommendations! A few of these I have on other platforms but plenty of these I don't have so I'll have to look them up. You're the best!
The PS4 library is honestly so impressive with the sheer number of games and variation in genres! There so many games that you didn't get to that I love and can't wait to hear your feedback on them. One game that I don't think you mention is Prey have you ever played or own it physically if not I really recommend it.
Yakuza 0 is so god damn amazing , loved it so much that it started my trophy hunting. I have yet to play the whole series but played kiwami 1 and 2 aswell but since I went for the platinum in all 3 I kinda burned out, sometimes feels like OCD to keep up my completion percentage on my psnprofiles. But for yakuza 0 I enjoyed everything so much the story and all mini games got me hooked and I just wanted to do everything.
Nice, those Yakuza platinums are no joke so we'll done! Kudos for keeping up the % but don't let it drag ya down or anything. Gotta make sure you're still having fun!!
Collection videos from Blinkoom are my aesthetic. I injected all 3 parts directly into my bloodstream, I can’t get enough. Eagerly awaiting my next hit
Hey I really enjoy your videos and I thought your story about you screwing over your wife persona save file was was hilarious and wholesome story. Good stuff bro. looking forward to more of your videos
