    Good video Steve, I have a tip for anyone who hasn't got a vice to hold the hub you can put the hub studs in the wheel and kneel on the tyre to stop it rotating whilst undoing the 4 bolts that connect the hub to the disc .that car looks like it's become a really good useable classic.

      Cheers mate, yes that's a really good tip, I like that 👍

    A tip if you don’t have the caliper wind- back tool is to crack open the bleed nipple, you can lever the pistons back easily then and it will displace the excess old, hard-worked brake fluid from the caliper and make room for the extra meat on the new pads.

      You're welcome, In all honestly EBC Brakes on Green stuff pads, if gently bedded in work very well for how I drive the car. And I'm very happy with them 👍

    Nice job Steve.

    Nice, I always think it'd be good to see what impact the various upgrades have - for example whether the ECB Greenstuff has a noticeable effect and how much fitting drilled brakes prevent fade.
    I do have a small suggestion for the channel. TH-cam ranks things in part by likes and subscriptions, but the comment section seems to be important. Channels with more comments relevant to their videos seem to do better - though that is conjecture because the ranking algorithm is obviously secret. If you ask a question, or provide some kind of talk point so people discuss the video, hopefully it'll help your ranking and subscriber base.
    The content is always great, look forward to your Saturday uploads.

      Cheers Keith, all I can say with that is I drove my Dolomite on standard brakes not long after taken out the Spitfire after doing the upgrade. And even though I'm still bedding in the brakes on the Spitfire, they don't feel as wooden as the Dolomites brakes do
      I know what your saying with the your suggestion, and I am thinking of doing a midweek video to discus topics, and maybe get a conversation going 👍

    Great video as always. Bet your neighbours see the car being jacked up and say 'there be goes again' 🤣. I did a similar job on mine when changing the studs to put the standard wheels back on a few years back. Can you do a video on changing the pedestal seals on a P.I. I've got to do mine 😉.

      Cheers mate, they are use it by now. As for doing video requests it really a case of if someone comes to me and needs a job doing. So never say never 👍

    Wow, that came off really easy! Can you do the same video for TR6? Or basically the same?

    • @SteveDentonClassics
      @SteveDentonClassics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      TR6 is basically the same brakes as a Spitfire, only bigger. I will do a video on them at some point 👍

      @DavidSL64 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great, thanks. I’ve already ordered the parts and going to tackle my front brakes. Your videos are excellent by the way, I follow them exactly. Step by step.

      Cheers David, glade my videos are helpful to you. I've always said if my video's just help one person then they have done there job. But as always, have the workshop manual near by to refer to as well. Hope all goes well with you replacing your brakes 👍

    • @DavidSL64
      @DavidSL64 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SteveDentonClassics I did my brakes today Steve. Followed you step by step. Exactly the same. Does it matter which way the pins are re-inserted? Meaning do they point out or inwards? Mine was different from one side versus the other.

    • @SteveDentonClassics
      @SteveDentonClassics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The split pins on the hub can go in anyway, it really doesn't matter, so long as they secure the hub nut in place. However logic dictates slotting them in the way gravity falls is the best bet. And as for the pins in the calipers, there are different calipers on the market and they can be fitted both ways. I've always fitted them the way shown in the video pushed from the inside of the car outward. So long as the pin is securing the pads in place with the R clip and is not fouling on the wheel when its turning, and the pin cannot move out of the caliper when secured with the R clip then all will be fine 👍

    Loving all your videos Steve. I'm just starting my own adventure with a mk2 I've just bought (see my channel for some much less impressive videos). I was actually thinking of doing exactly this upgrade once I get all the initial fixes done. Have you noticed much of a difference in the feel?

    • @SteveDentonClassics
      @SteveDentonClassics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers James, I'll take a look. As for the brakes, well I took my Dolomite which has standard brake out on it, for a drive the day after doing my Spitfire. The difference between them was night and day 👍

    Thinking of doing this to the herald, how much does it improve the brakes?

    • @SteveDentonClassics
      @SteveDentonClassics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It just makes the brakes feel more like brakes and a lot less wooden 👍
