The devs said they really want to focus on how physically superior and absolute beasts the Locust are. Especially the regular Drones, so imagine their version of Boomers, Therons, Corpsers, Brumaks and the Kryll.
The fact you dumped the lancer for a hammerburst and kept the gnasher hurts my brain. The gnasher is useless on insane. By the time you get close enough to use it effectively, you're already dead. Double ar is usually the way to go since you can always get ammo for both. Typically I only grab the boomshots if I run super reload mutator so I can kill gunkers in one hit if I need to clutch like on the bridge section.
He's showing the inner Halo player within him. If you ever watched any of his Halo gameplay it's obvious he hates the main full auto rifle for some reason haha.
The 2 gunkers outside the stadium part is really tough but there is a trick where if you shoot a boomshot in a specific spot between the pods you can destroy them before they spawn the gunkers killing them immediately
I played through the entire Gears 3 campaign in 4 player co-op on insane back in the day. I don’t think I ever got the final achievement because the last mission was so hard that we took turns having one player be on insane difficulty and the rest of the players would be on an easier difficulty, but we never got to my turn 😢
Hey just a friendly tip active reload single Handley carried me through this that’s was very important to make your gun A LOT stronger ( you can use this in all the games)
This and having infinite ammo. Playing on arcade mode with a couple friends makes it so much easier. Could be a issue to unlock with the game dead online. If able to get a couple friends to help unlock in horde mode. Shouldn't take to long.
I’ve beaten the entire trilogy on insane and I can say for sure that the barg part in this game is by far the hardest most frustrating part of all the games and that’s saying something. I literally had to look up a guide and even then it’s almost complete luck. The trick is staying behind the building in the middle at the right angle where you MIGHT NOT get hit by the explosions. Even then you’re constantly being flanked by elite Therons. I never wanna do that again 💀
Love gears. The key to insane for the most part is patience, but there are parts of the gears 3 insane campaign where your best bet is to just run at the enemy and try and grenade tag it, like the 2 gunkers who attack outside the stadium
I almost did this alone when I was 11, the only thing left was defeating Myrrah, I spent two days trying to beat her, but one day, after coming back from school, my xbox was stolen, and that memory still haunts me to this day.
I feel your pain, man. Like you said, Insane really does have a learning curve. For example, on the Gunker sections in Act 1, I found out that there are a bunch of Boomshots lying around. They make taking those guys out a lot easier. However, you have to go out of your way to find them. Also, while fighting the Serapedes in the drydock, I ended up luring them away from everyone while my squad took on the Armored Kantus. Then I hopped back and forth over a long barricade as the Serapedes crawled around it so that I could shoot them from behind. These tactics really helped make those sections easier for me. If (for some unholy reason) you ever play on Insane again, I recommend trying them out.
me and my lil brother did this years ago during the summer when we were like 12 and 10 and i still remember how absolutely satisfying finally beating myrrah was, the tempest fight took us WEEKS to beat lol! still one of my all time fav memories having to go thru total hell together
i remember getting this achievement almost 5 years ago, it wasn’t just the whole game i had to go through but the final boss now that one drove me literally insane. Despite the craziness i just kept going and going and going until i finally FINISHED HER!
See, I've run gears on insane once or twice. Always found it a challenge. But watching someone fail this much makes me feel better about myself. It also makes me question a lot of things.
I mean, how do you continue a game after you kill every enemy on the planet with a death wave? Gears 4 with its crystal coccoons and juvie transformations isnt great but it kinda makes sense as a reboot of the locust if you didnt want to have it be about fighting space aliens or something else weird.
@@deuceleonard6628 Judgement is a prequel, and not a very good one. I know that the lancer mark 2 is the gun of the franchise, but canonically, it wasnt invented until years after judgement took place. the hardest part of the whole game for me was the bridge gunker, it would insta hit after the stadium section when you use the rail and the rail stops.
Man my younger brother and I would go through insane on all of the gears of war games. It was like as soon as we beat gow 1 on insane it was the expectation moving forward and the rest of the installments.
I beat Gears of War 3 on insane twice, playing with a different buddy each time. That was when my friends & I would play GoW multiplayer. When Gears 5 came out, I tried to do an insane playthrough as well (like I had with every game in the franchise outside of.... maybe Gears 1), but I repeatedly died like I never died before. My buddy who was playing w/ me got pissed & stopped wanting to play, so I havent beaten Gears 5. It's the reason why, imo, Gears 5 is the most difficult game in the franchise.
Yeah I think 4 and 5 are harder on insane. Or maybe I just didn't played them enough. Did got 4 on insane. But mostly because I had great help. 5 I don't even have finished on hard-core. Now it's been so long I played I'm gonna struggle on easy as well. 😂
I did all of Gears of War 3 solo on insane and I left it at the final boss fight. Too many Queen's Guards, each guard is a tank, the fucking Tempest almost seemed immortal. Tried so many times and got more frustrated with it. Gave up with the intention to try the next day and that was about 10 years ago
As a person who played on Insane for Gears of War 3’s campaign. I can agree that you eventually at some point break after so many deaths and go numb afterwards
Insane was harder no doubt, but once I slowed down, stopped being so aggressive, it became my preferred way to play the campaign, especially on couch co-op. It just feels more intense because if you mess up you wont survive. The ammo consumption is a problem though. Boltok is king.
Honestly after playing these series for more than a decade now it is truly safe to say, that the original trilogy was never ment to be played on INSANE in one player mode, it was meant coop or split screen only.
the part where you have to kill the gunker on the bridge; there’s a reason why the game gives you so many boom shots before that. when you land, look behind you and roll towards the metal crate thing. the gunkers AI bugs out and you have a few seconds before he readjusts his aim. should be enough time to get off 3 boom shots
_if_ you’re lucky, the drudges will be walking right in front of the gunker right about the time you get behind the crate; which means you should be able to get a twofer or a threefer if you’re _really_ lucky
but yes, that part is synonymous for being stupidly hard; mostly because you have less than a second to move out of range. gears 3 on insane (imo) isn’t that hard once you realize the enemies HEAVILY aggro you; so rely on spotting for your squad
don’t be afraid to use the guns the game offers because it’s usually what you need in the next section; if there’s a sniper, you’re probably gonna be facing a _bunch_ of enemies, if there’s a heavy weapon there’s probably gonna be a _heavy_ locust. don’t use a gun just because it’s your favorite because you _will_ run out of ammo, AND THE HAMMERBURST-LANCER COMBO IS YOUR BESTFRIEND. p.s don’t forget the hammer burst is full auto
I feel your pain. I compleyed it to prove my metal as a gear but got all three games insane achievements. I did it solo as im a lone wolf. Fun fact when i finished this at my uni flat and made one of my flatmates run to the kitchen asking what happened he flipped when he saw i beat it after hes seen me go through this for days. I had classes and final work to do.
When I did this back in the day solo as well I found out you could actually stick the gunker with a grenade and it’s a one” shot” kill I mean it’s faster than waiting for your squad to take care of them.
I completed it on insane difficulty some time ago. And what I rememeber to be the hardest part is probably the queen Myrrah boss fight. Near the dome there's no good cover to cover all sides as you hide from the heat ray while a theron guard shoots you from the back or sides. The only cover I found to work was back by the elevator you come up in. Other than that the toughest moment was fighting the armored kantus for the first time. No so much because of the kantus, but more because of the serapedes forcing you to constantly be on the move.
Yeah you need to kill does Therons asap. And take your time with the queen. I think I only completed it with a 4 man squad. And even than it's a pain in the ass.
I beat Gears 2 on Insane just today, 22/07/2024. Now I won't be playing Gears 3 on Insane UNTIL I get infinite ammo Mutator unlocked first for Arcade cause people say Hardcore/Insane isn't that bad in Arcade mode. I just did my hardcore run a month ago in Arcade. :)))
Raam isn't that hard on insane. With a torque bow and a Lancer and some grenades it's easy to kill him. I struggle more with him on casual 😂 but when I played on insane I expected the worst. But killed him in a few tries.
A little lore tidbit, the Savage Locust, were not doing good, they were doing bad, to the point if you were a Locust and got caught even taking jus a tiny bit more then what you needed (food/water) it was death on the spot. The Locust were suffering just as bad as the humans.
I've done gears 2 and 3 insane solo and just finished ultimate co-op with a buddy. We are doing the trilogy and he doesn't believe me when I tell him how bad 3 is.
Did the same challenge, do them for all Gears games (including no upgrades to Jack on Insane Gears 5 solo) and I honestly think avoiding the barge with Palace Guards to fight was the hardest thing i've ever done on Gears 🤣
Awesome game! I beat it on insane over a decade ago I think lol The Queen in the final fight is in my top 5 hardest bosses ever. Soooo many minions… Also there was one segment in the final level I had no ammo and had to kill like 3 bloodmounts(?) in melee while being sniped at. That took forever to beat.
Im currently playing through the Gears trilogy again. Dusted off my old Xbox360 after 8 years and I had to check my achievements if i had the solo insanity achievement. I have it, but i dont have the co-op one. Ao I did it solo too.
I remember when the game wiped your medals, so ended up finishing regular insane 3 times and arcade insane 3 times, just so I can have thos onyx medals lol

In Act VI reckoning all I can say is that, THAT IS THE MOST BS MISSON but I can finally say that I beat 1,2,3 on insane and gears 4 and 5 on inconceivable
Seriously, whoever designed that barge section is an absolute jackass. Even on co-op, which is the only way I could beat it on Insane, it's still a nightmare and requires not only incredible coordination and skill but also luck.
Wtf are you smoking, Gears Of War 1 on Insane is so much more easier compared to Gears Of War 3 because aside from the lambent wretches and raiding the imulsion factory full of Theron Guards, GoW 3 does all that and then some, from the bullshit lambent enemies (Gunkers, Drudge variants and Polyps) to the insane amount of Queens Guard units thrown at you by the end I promise you, you just haven’t played both in a while but I have.
I shit you not this achievement took me 2 YEARS to obtain 😂😂 tbf I was playing on and off but literally the only part that was fuckin impossible was the infamous finale myrrah boss battle
Its either fun or frustrating when everyone goes in on insane. People can die from the funniest things and you'll laugh your ass off or get angry at the red failure screen.
Gears 4 insane run or inconceivable? Just beat gears 4 on insane yesterday and I decided to take a break and finish ultimate edition on insane before going back for inconceivable on gears 4. So far I’ve done gears 1,2,4 on insane need to unlock gears 3 and judgement insane again 😢
Real ones know that Gears of War 2 on solo insane is the hardest. There is not game more difficult. Gears of war 3 was a piece of cake compared to 2. If I died 300 times on Gears 2 it was easily 150 on Gears 3
Gears 2 was horrible for me. I played co-op and it was a nightmare. Pacing, glitches and “let’s split up” sections ruined the game for me. I still love 1 & 3! Should 4 be skipped? I’ve heard it’s the black sheep of the franchise.
I recently played 4. I enjoyed it, but it’s not to the same level as the trilogy and the enemies you fight in the early game aren’t nearly as fun as the locust
Hope you enjoyed :). My plans for the next video are likely Doom 3!
Can’t wait for doom 3!!

In Act VI reckoning all I can say is that, THAT IS THE MOST BS MISSON but I can finally say that I beat 1,2,3 on insane and gears 4 and 5 on inconceivable
Did no one tell you shooting the tentacles when they burst kills them quicker?
So I've been playing gears of war 3 on insane difficulty for about 6 months cuz of the final mission
To be honest, gears 3 campaigns were never played tested on insane
i miss all my friends from gears ngl
I only managed to make it to the queen, same with judgment. Never beat it though, just 1,2, and 4 by myself. 😅
I tried playing Gears 3 on insane but I ran out of ammo during the first Gusher encounter.
Seriously, whoever designed that barge section is an absolute jackass. Even on co-op, which is the only way I could beat it on Insane, it's still a nightmare and requires not only incredible coordination and skill but also luck.
33:35 HEY I RECOGNIZE THAT! 😉😉
My Childhood❤
For me, this achievment is easy for complete in under 8 hours
nahhhh
.69%? Nice
Gears 1 is arguably the hardest one. Solo Gears 3 is the easiest Gears on Insane. Now if we count in 4 and 5, they are the hardest in the franchise.

I shit you not this achievement took me 2 YEARS to obtain 😂😂 tbf I was playing on and off but literally the only part that was fuckin impossible was the infamous finale myrrah boss battle
this brought back bad memories lmao
The last boss in Gears 3 was total BS (on Insane). I don't know that I ever got it and I beat the first two games on Insane.
Good job, I just did it on coop instead back in the day lol
Probably the better choice 😂🤣
Now Halo 2 legendary was a bitch and I did that solo
I’ve only ever done that one coop idk if I’m brave enough for solo
Oh nice, I couldn’t imagine coop tho since iron skull is active regardless lol 😆
Its either fun or frustrating when everyone goes in on insane. People can die from the funniest things and you'll laugh your ass off or get angry at the red failure screen.
Drop em I'm in there
Gears 4 insane run or inconceivable? Just beat gears 4 on insane yesterday and I decided to take a break and finish ultimate edition on insane before going back for inconceivable on gears 4. So far I’ve done gears 1,2,4 on insane need to unlock gears 3 and judgement insane again 😢
I’m working on unlocking inconceivable rn!
Sniper is your friend in insane.
I did all on insane solo difficulty and I find GoW4 is the hardest.
It’s on my list :)
The zipwire bridge section is ass. So is the armored kantas with the serapedes and the queen mira fight. I raged so hard on those sections.
I thought heaps of people beat the game on insane??? I’ve done the whole series. Maybe I’m better at it then I thought.
bro at this point its a skill issue 😭
Play it with no hud and get active reloads 😎💪🏻 T pose
36:15 bro just sucker punched you
Do seriously 4.0 next
Real ones know that Gears of War 2 on solo insane is the hardest. There is not game more difficult. Gears of war 3 was a piece of cake compared to 2. If I died 300 times on Gears 2 it was easily 150 on Gears 3
Fr?
@@hxlobeats bro it’s so difficult it’s insane. No pun intended
@@trknjoi9590 im about to beat 3 it’s not that hard on act 5 rn u might be right
@@trknjoi9590 beat it 121 deaths
Let's gooooooooooooooooooo
Gears 2 was horrible for me. I played co-op and it was a nightmare. Pacing, glitches and “let’s split up” sections ruined the game for me.
I still love 1 & 3! Should 4 be skipped? I’ve heard it’s the black sheep of the franchise.
I recently played 4. I enjoyed it, but it’s not to the same level as the trilogy and the enemies you fight in the early game aren’t nearly as fun as the locust
