  • I’ve recently bought my 17 year old youngest son his first car. It’s an EP2 Civic Sport, with light modifications to make its appearance more akin to the legendary EP3 Type R. But how good is this de-tuned 1600cc VTEC EP2 Sport? This video tells you.

    I'm 38yo, own a EP2 and is the most reliable car I ever had. He's my loyal friend that never lets me down, I'll keep it forever.

    This is a hidden gem, looks fantastic and love the interior. Personally I wouldn't have a type r badge on the car is it isn't an actual R but that's an individual choice. Love the retro rims.

    Thanks a lot for these intro 🤝🏻
    it confirms one more time my nice impression of a ep2 … enough loading space for travels and a sporty look and feel 🙌🏼

    Hi. Great Video, Man. I am surprised your son at his age get's insurance for this car. It ain't Cheap. I still have my 2004 Type S. Kept it at it's Standard Type S. I am happy as it is. Had it over 18 years and it serves me Absolutely Greatly. Very little trouble. It's no secret : Most people who know of Honda Civics, know they are greatly reliable.

      Ive got one, cracking car on the cheap. Mine is the se, has electric sunroof, heated electric mirrors which are a nice touch. Steering is awful even though I've done a few bits to rectify it. So annoyed you can't do anything with the inlet manifold except for getting a rare d16y8 and modifying it because i think an extra 20bhp would help massively.

    I have a question, can the D16W7 engine be easily modified? I plan to buy a civic with such an engine, and think about modifications in the future (turbine, straight exhaust). I’ve heard that these Vtecs engines are designed for eco-driving, but perhaps an upgrade could make it a serious, powerful car?

    • @FastandFun
      @FastandFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ll leave it for someone more knowledgeable on this engine. My gut feeling is that if you want more power, possibly buy the EP3 Type R

    What tire size you use on the civic I got the preface one 4 stud and have the ep3 4 stud look alike ones with 205 55 16 4d winter sport is more low profile tires better as I had 205 50 16 before and I think they handled better and are winter ones good? I noticed the car slides like crazy in the wet when putting my foot down hard to drive it fast in the wet??

    • @FastandFun
      @FastandFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are 215/45/17 tyre size and haven’t had chance to drive them in the wet.

      @@FastandFun also my car still has 0w20 oil in can I mix 0w30 in with it or anything different or do I have to keep it at 0w20 thank

    • @FastandFun
      @FastandFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Light Weight, your tyres are a size down on these ones so will be a little more compliant than the slightly larger 17” on this one. But be careful, because it’s not simply about putting larger alloys - go too big and without changes to your cars suspension/setup could ruin the cars handling.
      Regard oil specs. Because the viscosity of oil changes with temp then company’s oil has to be graded by the oils viscosity at cold (first no.) and when hot (second no.). If you live in temperate climates (not extremes of heat/cold) then normal grades (of which the Civic Sport is) would be fine on either 5w/30 or 10w/40. My preference is always go with good quality oil made from proven companies (eg castrol). Hope that helps 👍🏻
