I got one for my wife a few years ago and when she first saw it she laughed. Fast forward 4 years, daughter needs a car for college, we give her the fit, wife cries bohoo I miss my fit everytime we see one. One of Hondas many masterpieces.
The cupholder next to the steering wheel. This little design feature says everything about the Honda Fit. You can tell that this little car was created by a group of designers, engineers and marketing pros who understood their goal. From the styling, to the engine, to the transmission, to the chassis, to the suspension, to the cabin space, to the storage space, to the A/C controls, to the steering wheel cupholder. Everything works and makes sense. This is a "No B.S." car that is possibly the greatest compact car ever built.
The Fit isn't just a car, it's a living space. I just drove mine across Canada and didn't miss a beat. The GOAT of the subcompacts. Lol I work at a Honda Dealer and so many of us have Fits because we know.
2007 base, auto, paint sucks (light blue) but I quit caring what other people think about me a long time ago. It has 75k miles and it runs and drives perfectly. I did have to charge the AC but otherwise no issues. And it wasn't leaking it was just low because the thing is 15 years old. Paid $6k two years ago. Haul pinball machines with it. Might buy a newer one when my daughter getr her license in a year or two.
Had a 2009 until Jan of this year! I drove it for 9 years and only had to really switch tires and do oil changes. Dad drove it for another 6 years until he was rear ended. Did multiple cross country trips in that thing packing it with like 7-800 pounds of stuff. Great fuel efficiency even when loaded down. Also had a great time on twisty roads
Damn shame it's so slow, though. I once raced a Fit in a Ford C-Max -- a *hybrid,* mind you -- and it wasn't even a competition. The Fit was left in the dust. For anyone reading this and considering a Fit: If you want a fun, cheap, *fast* car, consider getting a Genesis Coupe 3.8 instead. Independent rear suspension with limited slip, available in a 6-speed manual, cheap as hell to maintain, and literally *twice* as much horsepower, all for under $10K.
My elderly dad had a 2012 5 speed to tow behind the RV. I drove it several times and it had the sweetest, lightest shifting manual stick ever. Made the Subaru I had at the time feel like a tractor by comparison.
A Subaru pretty much is a tractor by comparison. There are definitely benefits to having a small engine and FWD, but there's also benefits to having a large(r) engine and AWD. Depends on what you want/need. I actually got my first Subaru a few years ago mostly because I was tired of having FWD in the winter. If I had the space/money I'd probably get a Fit or something similar for summer driving though.
Hondas manual transmissions are ridiculously smooth along with their clutches. On well taken care of vehicles, you literally cannot get them to stall. You can practically just drop the clutch with no gas, and it will catch anyways and start pulling you along in 1st gear like nothing happened. Lol
This car has never let me down, it will always get me home no matter how long the road trip is. Love this thing. I moved across the country with 4 suitcases, 2 cardboard boxes and loads of PC equipment. Absolutely no sweat, everything just FITS
my 2010 honda fit sport was totaled over the week, got 10k for it. so sad to see it go. Such a dependable and usable car. Whoever owns one knows just how dependable they are and a workhorse.
same thing happened to my 2009 in january. such a great car and sad it's gone but the payout made it so that we got 50% of the purchase price on a 13 year old car!
@@jonhohensee3258 it was totaled a month ago but i just received news of the total loss a week ago was what i meant. Guy had a seizure on the road, passenger mom maneuvered the car off the road directly into me while parked in a Walgreens. Stay safe out there
haha I guess so. I have an 08 fit. If I got in a wreck and they gave me 10k for it, I don't think I would pickup another fit. Its reliable and small, just like soooo many other cars.
I absolutely LOVE my 2018 Fit Sport (manual). Everything about the car just makes sense. Styling is good, gas mileage is great, power is just enough, practicality is on point. Plus there are no quirky little flaws that you usually find on other cars. The Honda FIt is a "no B.S." compact car. I drive mine with pride - even when all of my peers in the office drive high end german cars, lifted off roaders and expensive electric cars.
I know right? I have a 2007 base with a horrible paint job at this point. I paid $6k for it and it was a one owner grandma car with 68k miles. I use it to pick up pinball machines - yeah full sized commercial pinball machines. I might drive 500 miles round trip. I just did this a couple weeks ago. It cost me $56 in gas. Oh and it is water proof, unlike my Tacoma pickup which was my other option. It would have cost me 2-3x as much and then there are the elements..
I think my gen 2 Fit is the best engineered car I’ve ever owned. I think it’s harder to do a cost effective compact car than a super car. Putting the gas tank under the front seat has big benefits for load space. I like Honda’s emphasis on handling, even for utilitarian vehicles like this one. The engine is remarkably responsive and flexible. Overall it’s a real pleasure to drive. I find myself wishing for a higher gear at high speeds, but I tell myself it’s a Honda, I likes to rev.
We have two Honda Fit, my wife´s 2019 and my 2009. After many years owning and driving different cars, from VW Golfs and Fiat Unos to Ford Mondeos and Honda Accords, I have to say that Fit is the perfect car: spacious, reliable, great mileage, comfortable and full of clever solutions. Maybe one of the best cars I´ve ever had.
@shahee6579 yaris I have one it looks better comfy no cvt Trans very reliable and underrated yeah it's slow but it's fun I'm building a 2016 yaris as we speak I get laughed at but who cares and mind you I used to be a huge honda guy 8 years ago
I live in Wollongong, Australia. I bought my trusty Honda Jazz (Fit) in 2006. I have always updated my cars every 10 years. Not my Jazz. After test driving several small cars at that time, I decided to stick with my Jazz. Even though it is now over 15 years old, it is still comfortable, reliable, cheap to run. I have it serviced twice a year and, and, apart from tire and battery changes when necessary, it has never given me any trouble. I would recommend it to anyone. It now has over 180,000km on it and it still runs beautifully. Thanks for your video on what makes it so great. I totally agree.
Hello from another in the 'Gong. We bought our Jazz (Fit) second hand as the small safe fun car for our daughter. Its been perfect! It's a Honda so it's 85,000ks means it's 'just' run in. :) First post put it perfectly, the little cup holder beside the kerb view glass just screams smart design to me.
Well said Lyn. We're in Tassie daily-driving our 2006 GD Jazz. It has the red dot over the J, so it's the 1.3 engine with two spark plugs per cylinder. I didn't want this version, but the market was tight when looking to buy last year. It's a fun little gadget on our roads, and will tide us over until the CRX is restored!
@@speckledjim5150 Glad you are enjoying your Jazz as much as I am. Mine is still going strong, and as reliable and cheap to run as ever. Hope to take it over to Tassie next yer sometime and do another tour around your magnificent island.
An amazing automobile. Went to Home Depot with my son’s car to pick up a washer and a dryer. When two of the staff rolled out the merchandise and asked which is my car I simply replied ‘ it’s the black one’, just so happened I was parked next to a black SUV. When they erroneously placed the items by the hatch of the Suburban I casually strolled over to the Fit raising the hatch door, ‘ sorry gentlemen, it’s the other black one’. They both looked at each, smiled and politely burst into laughter. ‘ I don’t think it’s going to work, Sir’, ‘Well, why don’t we give it a shot’ I uttered with utmost confidence. They weren’t laughing or smiling few minutes later with the cargo loaded and the hatch fully closed without any assist from bungee cords or rope. They were floored into the very same spot where they loaded the Fit as I was pulling away after of course tipping them and waved back with a smile and a chuckle.
@Liam Tomlin lol old civics and integras have torsion beam rear and torsion bar front... for handling its terrible, but I find the driving dynamics to be really fun!
@@cobywilliams7332 Not the 90's era Civics and Integras. Those have Independent frond and rear suspension. It's the 2000's era that got McPherson strut front but rear was still IRS. Not sure when the changed the rear to torsion bean but McPherson front is still a down grade.
No civics except type R variants had double wishbone rear suspension. 90’s until now have all been IRS but it’s a rear trailing arm..basically a McPherson strut at the rear.
@@randomautonomousdronepilot3384 In the EX trim, though? At least where I was, it took three months for one to come up in a 300 mile radius. It's post-facelift and has all the fancy lane-keep assist stuff, but still has a manual. IDK, maybe they're more common than I thought.
I absolutely love my 2010 5MT Fit. Fun to drive, practical and reliable! You have absolutely nailed everything about these fun little hatches. I’ve had mine for 4 years and almost 100000 miles, beating on it the whole time and the only thing that’s gone wrong was an ac compressor!
@Don E. ok. I had a 99 Civic that had 418,000 miles when I sold it to my mechanic still running like a champ. I needed the cargo area of my Fit to transport my dogs.
Coming up in July 2023, my wife’s Fit will be 10 years old. We bought it new… I do all my own maintenance….. 80K …. It’s the car she really wanted…. she’s 4’11” 100 lbs…… I’m considerably larger…6’….. but I gotta say, in the land of giant pickups and SUVs, it’s a great little fun to drive car!! It’s not a rocket, but I have no problem in the real world with keeping up with traffic… merging…etc. It’s fun to “drive a slow car fast”! I PUT MY FOOT in it! It’s a Honda!
I purchased one in 2005. As a matter of fact, it was the first car I bought with my own hard-earned money. I will never forget about this car, so much pride and memory.
I love my 5 speed manual 2010 fit. Bought it as my first car with 62k miles, and now it has over 136k and running great. The interior space and 360 degrees visibility this car has and fuel economy is just great. I plan to run it until its last breath
Love it ! I have a 2011 manual . I would drive this thing across country and back multiple times without hesitation just hit 148,000 miles and it still feels brand new.
I was skeptical at first, but I got a 2016 Fit EX with a manual. Easily the best car I've ever owned! Does absolutely everything better than I'd ever hoped it would, and way more comfortable and spacious than I thought it would be. Absolutely in love with it!
I bought a 2009 Jazz as a quick replacement while waiting for my insurance payout, I just haven't been able to get anything else since, it's just so good !
I love my second gen. It's great for downtown driving and winding country roads, and is so easy to load/unload a ton of stuff, or hauling four adults. Four adults def slows it down, but it's comfortable enough with four doors. It is a definitely a tin can of a car, but I have never loved a car before, and the FIT I love.
I love my Fit! Small, versatile, works in the city, great mileage, and haul SO much stuff surprisingly. I hope they can come back to the US because they have so much potential.
Yeah. I loved my 2009 Honda Fit Sport with manual transmission, but it ran into some issues last year. There was an EV for a little while, but presumably it didn't go very far. An EV Fit that is affordable could do so well here.
The Fit really is amazing. Drove a 3rd gen for 3ish years and its handling was amazing. The steering is tight and direct and it'll go exactly where you tell it to. The biggest weakness in terms of handling comes when there's a large crosswind, in icy conditions it means you'll have to be doing a lot of counter-steering if you catch a gust of wind. However that tight handling means I never once ditched the thing even in the worst winter storms. Its really a shame Honda never made an entry into the World Rally Championship with one of these, because the base platform is so amazing. Someday I'll buy a manual fit and turn it into a rally car, but that might be tough because most people who bought them want to hang onto them.
The only complaint I have about my fit is how much the wind pushes it around on the highway Winter storms are scary but damb it's a great car to have in a city with tight maneuvers
Wouldn't be a bad investment to try to make a rally car out of one. In the video they mentioned a Honda Fit won the 2WD class in the 2012 Australian Rally Championship with a GE8 model Fit. Also with a K24 swap these cars can run 0-60 in less than 6 seconds on the naturally aspirated motor around 220HP. That's really impressive considering the Type R Civic gets there in just under 5 seconds with a turbocharged motor and LSD. These cars make excellent track cars for a budget, feels like the EG Civic platform since these car bodies are readily available and more affordable than some of the 90s Civic chassis which are disappearing into junkyards.
My brother bought a Honda Fit a year ago as his daily and after seeing the way it drives I became interested in these cars. I love the hatch style, the interior, the exterior, and the way it handles. As an 8th gen Civic Owner it made me feel right at home and both of those cars remind me why I love Honda so much ^_^
Had a 2003: 1.5, manual. Excellent car, loved it very much. Was in the family for the first 150,000 km, sold it to a friend and miss it to this day, 5 years after selling it. It was an amazing thing: impeccably designed, incredibly reliable, fun despite all of its shortcomings, and did everything I asked of it. Cruising around town obviously no dramas, but huge road trips it also swallowed up. Even towed a trailer with a couple of motorbikes in it on the highway for hours at a time and didn't ever complain one bit.
For the last 5 years my wife has had a Fit and this car has slowly worked its way into my heart. I have been through many cars in 10 years including a Del Sol SiR, MX5 NB RS and a DC2R. Tomorrow I pick up my GD3 sport and I'm just as excited for it as any of the other cars I've purchased before. Edit: Nov 2024. Still own this car love it. Has been a bulletproof Touge car. Even survived track day without shredding the cvt
Had a 2012 Fit Sport. It was a wonderful car. Even though I have owned GTI's and a Focus ST, that FIt was the most fun to drive because I could push it farther than any other car and not end up in a ditch lol. And with its good interior space, efficient packaging, and decent gas mileage, it was a wonderful all-round car. Wish Honda could have produced a new model for the North American market. 😕
@@Atomb in the way I described it, it was at times more fun. I'm not talking in terms of power or speed nor am I talking about on a drag strip or race track. Just as an everyday, work/play/A-to-B car. I could push it to 9/10th and it was fun. Push a GTI or ST to 9/10th, you'll be flying off the road or understeer into a ditch.
@@keithcampbell-jo9gt never claimed that the Fit was in the same class. I was simply saying that for what the Fit was at that time, it was a really fun car to drive because I could push it hard and not worry about flying into a ditch. If I would have pushed my ST in the same way, I could have gotten into some major incidences.
Was told numerous times that the Honda fit was in a class of it's own if you maintain them they are bulletproof and not that I care or need a modified fit they can be highly modified.bottom line Honda needs to bring them back in the u.s. market for their dependability and last the great gas mileage.
I have the same car. Love it. Put RPF1 on 205 50 16. Retrofit source Headlights, Chinese tail lights with the startup show and the ole EBay 40$ chin spoiler. I used to have a 7th gen Maxima but, this just feels better.
@@ironmonger109 I kinda did the diy way. Got the CRz short shifter from buddy club and trimmed up a spot to make it fit. Only cost about $100 but you do need a Dremel
I love Hondas ; previously owned two Honda Accords and one Honda Civic. For the last couple of years my daily driver is a second gen Honda Fit Sport with manual transmission. So much fun-to-drive factor, efficiency and economy in a car is unbelievable. I'm still mesmerized by my Fit, even after all those years.
Sold my 2007 fit sport last year due to a wiring harness issue under the dash and some rust on the floors. Still loved every second of owning it, so easy and fun to drive at its limit.
Wow, I bought one of these three months ago, brought it home and parked one it while I got two other vehicles ready for sale. I sold the second one yesterday and finally got around to starting working on the fit. Right off the bat, I just found that water was leaking into my trunk and started going down a rabbit hole to figure it out. I stumbled across this video. Watching this video and reading the comments has given me a lot of hope for this little whip lol
I love my 2013 Fit - wish I had gone with the manual but my younger sisters were still learning to drive and I was splitting the car with my family at the time living in a big city just out of college. 9 years later and it's just about to hit 100,000 km and still going strong with no major issues.
bought an 07 first gen 3 years ago, and its still going strong. unbelievably reliable and will live on forever with a bit of care. the best car i ever owned.
i’ve always loved the second generation Fit and it truly took off here in Singapore. It’s a clear winner in just about every important aspect and becoz we can’t hold on to our cars unless we pay $$,$$$ for a license for the next ten years, it’s got the best resale value. My wife and me could finally afford the last G3 model in production and happily made our way to the dealers in 2020 which also happened to be the start of covid 19, thereby forcing the license to be at an all time low. I drove out in our spanking new G3 Fit with pride and loving every moment today!!
Great video and I knew that I was not the only person who knew how great these cars were. I have been working on cars for over 30 years and personally own a 93 Rx7 ,88 BMW M5 and a 12 Honda accord v6 sedan. I have never seen a Honda fit in the shop for any reason other than regular maintenance. I love the way they perform and their build quality..
When I first saw Fits in a 2004 trip to Japan, I dreamed of them being sold in the US so I could buy one. My dream came true, and I have a GK5. If I had a choice of any car recently available in the US, at any price, I'd choose a Lamborghini, sell it, and buy a Fit.
My 2017 EX-L is my dream car, and I've owned many sporty and higher end cars. Those expenses came to a halt. "Enough" power, refined CVT, 40 mpg, tons of room, fits like a glove, all the amenities, very reliable and feels incredible at both high and low speed or just parallel parking. Progress sway bar and the best tires I could find absolutely rip the corners, and the steering feel is like from an S2000 or civic si. Hard to describe why it feels so "right" and convenient, because it's lots of little things that come together that make it so satisfying for the price.
I drive a 2008 Honda Fit. Love everything about it BUT the leg space. Shorter people definitely accomplished a spectacular achievement in this bad boy that I wish to enjoy.
I’ve owned two Fits. 2009 and 2013. I’ve driven cars in between some luxury and race worthy between my ownerships, like a Mustang, Corvette, Mailibu, Jeep (Compass and Wrangler), Ultimata, Golf GTIs, and minor encounters of Kias and Cadillac (idk the specific models); but everytime I’ve driven anything other than a Fit, I end up missing the Fit in anyway shape or form. In terms of practicality and everyday use it’s the most fun to drive. The Fits I’ve driven have incredible handling and fun residential speeding. It legit makes driving around suburbs feel like a Mario Kart track. There’s something fun and special about that. It takes something mundane into excitement. Other cars really lack that. Either it’s too luxury to be fun or too quick to enjoy residential driving. The only car that’s fun, besides the Fit, is the Golf. Since it has some similar qualities when driving, but the engineering is so overthought and not straightforward and takes time to adjust. BUT REALLY the Fit is the best because it feels like a go kart and is more affordable/luxurious than it’s counterparts. It’s the perfect fit between practical, luxury, and speed. I’d recommend to anyone
I once took a 1996 Hyundai Accent GT on a road trip and the thing was zippy, handled like a go cart and got 50MPG going 75 with the AC cranked. I didn't believe the result so I made the same calculation with the next tank...49MPG.
That they discontinued the fuel efficient Honda Fit is a tragedy. Ironically, there's this maniacal fury to make even bigger cars despite the obvious decline of fosil fuels.
I have a 2009 second generation and I love it it's really the best car I have ever had it's great on gas doesn't burn oil 124,000 Miles it's really a great car Thanks Honda Fit
My wife has an orange 09 fit 5 spd sport w 200k miles. We love it. We use it a lot, including her using it for grub hub deliveries a lot of the time. It's paid for itself just doing GrubHub in the last two years. And it's barely needed anything but maintenance. Even with All the stop and go. Even the clutch is original
I remember the first time the Honda Fit (Jazz here in europe) hit the market. It was a huge success and was bought by the masses. Now there have been many cars which initially had big sales numbers but after 20+ years or so I barely seen them on the road anymore, either because of unreliability, high maintenance costs, rust, etc. The Fit is a completely different story though. I still see many 1st gen Fits driving around all the time, and despite their age they are extremely reliable and people are super happy with them. It just goes to show how well Honda can build cars, and how underrated this little car is
I drive a jazz in Singapore and regularly average 56 mpg without a sweat. Have seen it go to 60 mpg too often. Just so reliable and non intrusive. For me personally, the definition of luxury is reliability. And this little car is hands down the best. Honda makes the best small cars.
@@mhordijk0871 *Not sure why you're getting so defensive, lmao... Calm down. He's saying the car will be missed because it's no longer in production. There isn't any more coming. It's done. No next generation. He doesn't mean it literally like they don't exist anymore and you'll never see an old one on the road.*
@@AzNightmare Sure, i got that. He was writing in the past tense. Like, he doesn't own it anymore. I only meant, he could have been driving it for a long time, still. It's still a young car. Oh, and i can have a next gen next week, if i want. The 2020 hybrid. New 2022 production. Here in Europe , it's called a Jazz. And it's all that.
Man, i just wanted to come back here and say huge thank you!!! Last year in March I saw that video and i had been dreaming about getting that car, even though i didn't have a driving license at a time. Just a bit less than a year later, this February I got myself a Honda Jazz 2011 with a 1.4 VTEC. I am so happy to have it!! I just love everything about it. Thanks to you once again ;)
4 months in to a 2010 5MT 40k miles, I love it, I went from a g35 to this and I don't regret it at all, the tiny frame is perfect for these chicago streets, I weave in and out of traffic seamlessly & that 30mpg lol
Thanks a lot for this video! My dad bought a 2008 Honda Jazz (Fit) last year and I thought it was a pretty lame car, but now I'm hyped to drive it once I finally get my license!
Take it into the hills and if you keep the revs up above 4500 - 7000 she Yonkers along. Just keep your eyes on the road, slow down if you can't see the exit of a corner and always be in the right gear so that you can accelerate or slow down with engine compression without having to use the brakes.
I bought my GE8 almost a year ago and the car has performed wonderfully, actually got into an accident with the car a couple months ago. The other 2 cars involved in the accident were damaged more than my car (nothing but a small scratch on mine) love this car. This video was what pushed me to get it (besides my gf)
I got a 2016 Fit EX as my first car that I personally paid for and damn I loved that thing. Almost two years after I got it, it was totaled after hitting a deer straight on. I was able to find a 2018 Fit EX-L with nav with less miles than my original 16 had when I got it. Still runs like a dream. I love these cars. I can fit into tiny parking spots in cities, but also go down montana hills at whatever speed and turn with ease.
I had a Honda Fit with a manual transmission growing up in my late high school years which my father got in 2008, and gave to me in 2015. I would regularly go driving for hours in it with friends, especially when Pokémon GO rolled around-we would do regular “Pokémon GO Friday” days in my little blue car. The folks I still roll with today still have amazing memories with me being in that car. Today, I now have a Corvette Grand Sport, but there are many days where I feel like I still miss my Fit a lot-accessibility, design, and reliability-some of which I feel my Corvette had. Friends still howl with me on many memories that we had made in my little blue car. This is a fantastic video. The Fit is truly a masterpiece of compact car history.
When I was younger, I really wanted one. All my friends were like "get a sports car etc" but at the time, my main goal was to save money to buy a brand new car. Course, life didn't turn out that way, but the Fit is still one of the cars I would buy if I could find one at a decent price
I have owned my 2008 ge8 fit RS for about a week now and I'm genuinely hooked. This car offers so so much value and fun for the money it would be damn near impossible to beat in its market.
I have a 2016 Honda Fit bought for the wife. Amazing build quality. I enjoy driving it, it is zippy and super cheap on gas. Has a lot more room than it looks.
Great video, I drive a GE8 Sport 5MT and its a great drive indeed, and with insane space to booth (fun fact the GE8 in at least the US spec has 10 cupholders for 5 occupants) some points to mention though: ALL generations of Fit have torsion beams (even the newest one, its how they get the floor so low+ cost effective for subcompact cars) the USDM GD and GE have different front and rear ends vs JDM because of a Canadian 5mph bumper law sticking until 2009. this means the USDM cars of those two gens are much longer and cannot be easily converted to JDM without much effort there exists a version of the GE8 in Japan with a 6 speed manual+hybrid 1.5l taken right from the CRZ (also built on fit bones) but also 200 lbs lighter than a regular CRZ. it is the GE8 Mugen RS hybrid the 4th gen Fit/jazz is no longer offered with a manual, but to alleviate it, honda offers the city hatchback in place of the fit in certain ASEAN markets, with a carryover L15B from the GK, and a 6 speed manual option honda sold and still sells Fits with AWD albeit cvt only
sad the CVT is made of glass... I got a GD4 for cheap but my mechanic had to do some juju to get it back on the roaad (it's now a manual swap one, with the 5-speed off a USDM one) I'm still not letting this one go
I have a 15 year old 2007 GD3 Fit 5 speed manual and am the original owner. Just about 150000 kms and still going strong. Not a bit of rust as I've had it undercoated with "Krown" since new. Clutch crapped out at 80000 kms but other than that it's been super reliable! I'm surprised no one has mentioned the water leakage problem in these first Gen Fit's. Leaked like crazy around the rear hatch seams/roof rails and the spare tire wheel well would fill with water. Also, vapor barriers in rear doors failed prematurely! It was a very bad design! Still love the car though!!!!!
Great watch, I love the Fit and I wish we were still getting them in North America. We have a 2013 Sport in the driveway and I love it to death. Would've been a perfect car with a tad more oomph but at least the thing is dead reliable and problem free at 9 years of age. Not to mention its sharp handling and overall engaging driving dynamics.
Fantastic Vid, thank you! :-) As a Honda Jazz/Fit owner I couldnt agree more. It is an awesome little car, with a very roomy interior, and a very nicely balanced chassie. I'm running with the na 1.5L 130HP engine, and that is actually enough to make the car very fun to drive, and the old school VTEC is just a cherry on top with a high reving engine. Only "performance" upgrade that I have done, is a set of sticky Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 R tires on a set of 16"x7 inch Rota Slipstreams, and the Jazz corners like a racecar :-)
Damn, a well information video about 3 generation of this small but nimble hatchback. It really makes me miss mine which sadly got into an intersection accident by a careless teen driver... That was about 9 months ago. 2015 Honda fit, Silver, 6MT. Aftermarket Rims/Tires, HPS Short air intake and a HKS Hi-Silent exhaust. Make it a blast to drive and I miss it everyday.
I bought an automatic 2011 last year for my girl and i liked it so much (except for the automatic) that I bought a 2012 in manual. Same color and everything. Its not just a great "small" car Its literally the best "car" there is at simply being a "car". Great room, reliable, economical, dependable, great handling, safe stiff quiet chassis. No other car on the road is like it.
I bought one for 1.5k in good shape as a winter beater, and was really amazed at what it had to show. Been beating on it daily for 4 years and it still going strong and not burning any oil. Only did regular break/oil changes and other than that didn't cost me a penny. Once you put real tires on it it grips like crazy in tight curvy and hilly backroads!
I laughed at the first gen until I realized how awesome and practical it is. It may look small but there's alottah room, even for a growing family of 4.
I have a 2011 Honda city. Basically a cousin of the Honda fit. It also has the L15A7 engine. Bit heavier than the fit but she ain't no slouch when the vtec kicks in.
I have a 1st gen here in Brazil, I love the spunky little thing. Perfect comute/ groceries getter. Doing basic maintenance it's very reliable. 100k Km and still going strong. I might never sell it.
This is a really well made video!! Lol I'm not super big into cars but I've always loved driving my ge8 like a go-cart. Now i have a video with proof that my dream of converting it to a rally car eventually isn't a completely dumb idea
I bought a 2019 manual Fit in December of 2018 - I felt like I had won the lottery by finding it - and a manual! They were incredibly rare. The dealership keeps trying to buy it back. It has less than 20K miles on it and I'm 2 payments away from owning it. I love this car!!
Yall i freaking love Fits, It made me so mad that honda is no longer bringing them to the US. I was so looking forward to the super sharp design we would have had. But I've an 07 base and now an 08 sport and I'm in love. Just stock these cars have quite a bit of power behind them. It shocks everyone at the stock rally I visit occasionally. Not many people expect a sub compact car to be able to accelerate, and handle like these do but it's all props to honda, a manufacture built on making it's customers happy. If we weren't happy we wouldn't keep buying the same brand, and trust me I've owned just about every basic daily brand out there, Nissan hated it 2015 went through 3 transmissions in 2 months... pontiac was okay brake system was shit, kia known for being killed in action blowing the motor, VW I loved my jetta only reason I sold it was due to medical issue keeping me from using my left leg to push down so couldn't press clutch. Hell I even had a chevy/toyota collab car the prizm, built with the same parts in the same place as the corrollas just had the old oval chevy logos. That was a great car till the alternator went and threw the timing off.
gf has a 08 jazz 5sp automatic, i thought "aw just another little city hatch, couldnt possibly be noteworthy" but as time went on, I've grown to agree with everything you've said. stiff af chassis, just enough power to get out of its own way and it will happily take more, PHENOMENAL TURNING CIRCLE (cant understate how important this is in anywhere but america) and average turning performance, engines right over the front wheels so heaps of grip off the line (at the expense of a fair bit of understeer in corners but thats why the chassis is so stiff, could be worse), insanely modular cargo capacity (we've moved an entire house with ours), EXTREMELY reliable (gf had honestly been running hers WITHOUT OIL for a UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME and it wasn't until we took it for a scheduled service that we found out.. couldn't even tell the difference.. our commute is straight up to highway speeds then into stop start traffic and we had absolutely no idea) didnt even know there was a mugen version, could be an ez collectors hot hatch if one pops up for auction in japan..
We bought honda jazz sport edition. My wife want it because it save gas. What I didn't know is space. I learned it oneday when we drove to ikea to purchased a queen size mattress and bed frame. I told my wife it won't fit. She proved me wrong. She was able to fit the mattress, bed frame,2 night stand and bed board into the jazz. I was shock. We still have the car it's a 2009 honda jazz with 200,000 k on it. Every german mechanics we met said vw is a junk and they admit honda and toyota is better.
I have a GD3 manual, and like you alluded at the end, it is the perfect daily that's also great fun in the hills. Fuel economy is excellent, it's super practical, and very enjoyable to drive. I wasn't as big of a fan of the 2nd generation, but it's still a better car than most of its competition.
@@ShaiyanHossain depends what you define as composed. GE8 may have a more rigid chassis but I think the suspension is softer as I find it wallows a bit.
I think it's also important to mention the issues we had here in Canada/cold weather with the 3rd gen Honda Fit (2015+) where the GDI "Earth Dreams" engine would have oil dilution issues(prevalent in the Turbo model engines; CRV / SI). Otherwise a fantastic car without a doubt
I've owned my 2012 Fit Sport 5 speed manual since new. Been a Honda head for 30 years, so it was my 4th Honda. I bought it because it reminded me of my first car, a 1989 Civic Si; light, tossable, great handling little hatch that is a blast to rev out!. I still love driving this "dinky car" as my wife like to call it. Nothing like taking highway on/off ramps at speed and feel the car just bite into the corner with some serious grip!
I got one for my wife a few years ago and when she first saw it she laughed. Fast forward 4 years, daughter needs a car for college, we give her the fit, wife cries bohoo I miss my fit everytime we see one. One of Hondas many masterpieces.
Buy yourself a clean 8th Gen SI and a 10,000 mile 4th gen Camaro SS LS1 T56 and you'll be rich one day.
Same with my Pontiac sunfire, and i bought that with peanuts.

My 2011 came with 10 cup holders. So that 5 peeps can be double fisted. 😂
The cupholder is also in front of the A/C vent, so you can keep your drink cool/warm. Genius.
You just wrote a poem about my new car. ✊🏽
The Fit isn't just a car, it's a living space. I just drove mine across Canada and didn't miss a beat. The GOAT of the subcompacts. Lol I work at a Honda Dealer and so many of us have Fits because we know.
Should I say it's one size that *fits* all?
Another good thing about the fit/jazz is that the insurance is really cheap for such a fun car.
228,000+ miles on my ‘07 Fit, I love it and she runs great, never let me down. Solid motor & trans, Nothing leaks.
Might buy a newer one when my daughter getr her license in a year or two.
got another 200k in it bro
Bought my Fit new in 2017, love it and wouldn't trade it off for anything......Also, shame on Honda for discontinuing the Fit in the USA.
Had one for 11 years. In several stats it has shown to be one of the most reliable cost effective cars ever
Impossible to disagree with your comment.
mine had 399,949 miles on it when i traded it in, DAMN good car
Damn shame it's so slow, though. I once raced a Fit in a Ford C-Max -- a *hybrid,* mind you -- and it wasn't even a competition. The Fit was left in the dust.
For anyone reading this and considering a Fit: If you want a fun, cheap, *fast* car, consider getting a Genesis Coupe 3.8 instead. Independent rear suspension with limited slip, available in a 6-speed manual, cheap as hell to maintain, and literally *twice* as much horsepower, all for under $10K.
Ac shit out on us twice already but outside of that it's a good little homie
Mine was totaled in a hit and run a couple weeks after I paid it off. Such a bummer.
It got totaled over the course of a week? How many crashes did you get into??
Having the tank there also makes it very, very easy to replace to fuel pump (speaking from experience)
Shall I go for a fit or opt for a yaris?

First post put it perfectly, the little cup holder beside the kerb view glass just screams smart design to me.
My little Jazz has now 285 000km and is still great for my daily commute. Never had a problem except for the heater which was an easy fix.

Wait, a washer AND dryer fit into the Honda Fit?
Just bought one today!!!!.........I did a lot of research beforehand and though I could get the 2016 version am happy with an 2011!

So glad to have this series back!
Same applies to my Celica T-Sport
Yeah. I loved my 2009 Honda Fit Sport with manual transmission, but it ran into some issues last year. There was an EV for a little while, but presumably it didn't go very far. An EV Fit that is affordable could do so well here.
With these gas prices, the might come back to the US. We'll see.
I have one and I never want to let it go.
@@birbluv9595 same
The only complaint I have about my fit is how much the wind pushes it around on the highway
Winter storms are scary but damb it's a great car to have in a city with tight maneuvers
More fun than a Focus St? I don't know.

I stumbled across this video. i’ve always loved the second generation Fit and it truly took off here in Singapore.
My family has had so many Honda Fits lmao from like 2006 to now I think 4 or 5. My sister currently has a Sport. Car kicks absolute ass
The legend returns to his roots of what made him great. Welcome back buddy.
I had a 2010 and traded up to a 2016. Love them both. Such fun to drive and so economical and practical.
07 Fit was my first car. Sold it to my brother a few years ago, still runs like new. A truly great car.
Thank you for giving me a video to use during arguments with my friends.
I drive a 2008 Honda Fit. Love everything about it BUT the leg space. Shorter people definitely accomplished a spectacular achievement in this bad boy that I wish to enjoy.
Bought a 2009 fit lx 6 months ago in a manual transmission. Goddamn beast, got me some studded winter tires and I absolutely love it.
I have a 2009 second generation and I love it it's really the best car I have ever had it's great on gas doesn't burn oil 124,000 Miles it's really a great car
Thanks Honda Fit
My wife has an orange 09 fit 5 spd sport w 200k miles. We love it. We use it a lot, including her using it for grub hub deliveries a lot of the time. It's paid for itself just doing GrubHub in the last two years. And it's barely needed anything but maintenance. Even with All the stop and go. Even the clutch is original
Hell yeah. I got 2007 with 268k
Built a GD3 with only $200. It's been my favorite, most reliable, and memorable car in my life
I remember the first time the Honda Fit (Jazz here in europe) hit the market. It just goes to show how well Honda can build cars, and how underrated this little car is
Yes, the Fit is indeed a great vehicle!
Today I drove 120 HWY miles in my 2019 Fit with the Eco mode on and I averaged 48.1 MPG.
I am jealous.
😳
I drive a jazz in Singapore and regularly average 56 mpg without a sweat. Have seen it go to 60 mpg too often. Just so reliable and non intrusive. For me personally, the definition of luxury is reliability. And this little car is hands down the best. Honda makes the best small cars.
@@MrJustforkicks that’s amazing! My wife owns a FIT as well and we just bought our third to keep on stand by!
I drove a Honda Fit to a costumers house and man I had the most fun driving on that little thing. Great acceleration on the backroads
I had a 2017 Honda Fit with a manual trans. Great car miss it. Could do no less than 32 mpg no matter how hard I drove it.
Why you miss? What happened to it?
@@GeeTrieste *Discontinued in North America, like a lot of other subcompact cars.*
@@AzNightmare
Yeah? So?
5 years isn't old for Honda's
What's that? 70/80k miles?
That's barely run in.
It can do another 10 years at that rate.
@@AzNightmare
Sure, i got that.
Love my Fit, but that cup holder in front of the vent on the drivers side is BRILLIANT! Keeps my drinks cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Thanks a lot for this video! My dad bought a 2008 Honda Jazz (Fit) last year and I thought it was a pretty lame car, but now I'm hyped to drive it once I finally get my license!
Bro they are awesome little cars
Always heard great things about the little fit. Nice to see you upload.
When I was younger, I really wanted one. All my friends were like "get a sports car etc" but at the time, my main goal was to save money to buy a brand new car. Course, life didn't turn out that way, but the Fit is still one of the cars I would buy if I could find one at a decent price
Always loved the Fit, it’s kinda like the VW Polo the US never got. I’d like to see a head to head vs a Fiesta ST.
I have owned my 2008 ge8 fit RS for about a week now and I'm genuinely hooked. This car offers so so much value and fun for the money it would be damn near impossible to beat in its market.
this just makes me love my fit so much more, my first self bought car. 6spd mt a joy to redline to this day.
I have a 2016 Honda Fit bought for the wife. Amazing build quality. I enjoy driving it, it is zippy and super cheap on gas. Has a lot more room than it looks.
I already know what makes the fit great because I have a gk5, everything in this video is right about the fit, It is the ultimate small car.
I was just about to make a video essay exactly like this for a comeback video! I loved this video man, quality content.
Great video, I drive a GE8 Sport 5MT and its a great drive indeed, and with insane space to booth (fun fact the GE8 in at least the US spec has 10 cupholders for 5 occupants)
some points to mention though:
ALL generations of Fit have torsion beams (even the newest one, its how they get the floor so low+ cost effective for subcompact cars)
the USDM GD and GE have different front and rear ends vs JDM because of a Canadian 5mph bumper law sticking until 2009. this means the USDM cars of those two gens are much longer and cannot be easily converted to JDM without much effort
there exists a version of the GE8 in Japan with a 6 speed manual+hybrid 1.5l taken right from the CRZ (also built on fit bones) but also 200 lbs lighter than a regular CRZ. it is the GE8 Mugen RS hybrid
the 4th gen Fit/jazz is no longer offered with a manual, but to alleviate it, honda offers the city hatchback in place of the fit in certain ASEAN markets, with a carryover L15B from the GK, and a 6 speed manual option
honda sold and still sells Fits with AWD albeit cvt only
sad the CVT is made of glass... I got a GD4 for cheap but my mechanic had to do some juju to get it back on the roaad (it's now a manual swap one, with the 5-speed off a USDM one)
I'm still not letting this one go
And 2 of those cup holders are in front of vents. Making them great for coffee or hot chocolate in the winter
And that's the specs for the City Hatchback here in the Philippines.
too bad city hatchback are too soft and fat compared to fit/jazz.
My first car was a jazz Ge8. I have it already and today my daily commuters. I love it. Every time i drive it a little simile is always on my face...
I had one for several years. So cute and the quality was incredible. Loved that car.
My 2015 6-speed Fit just hit 95K miles, and its amazing. Running Royal purple 0W-20, and its smooth as butter. Shes a keeper. Great video.
I bought an automatic 2011 last year for my girl and i liked it so much (except for the automatic) that I bought a 2012 in manual. Same color and everything.
Its not just a great "small" car
Its literally the best "car" there is at simply being a "car". Great room, reliable, economical, dependable, great handling, safe stiff quiet chassis.
No other car on the road is like it.
I sold my 5 speed 2006 Honda Fit with 250k miles running beautifully , that was 2 years ago the car is still on the road problem free .
I still regret selling that car , I have never driven anything as fun as a Honda Fit .
YES! YES! YES! ITS BACK!
I have a 2011 Honda city. Basically a cousin of the Honda fit. It also has the L15A7 engine. Bit heavier than the fit but she ain't no slouch when the vtec kicks in.
Thank you so much for this. Gotta love some validation for purchase decisions lol
😂👍
Nissans are crap bc of the trannys
gf has a 08 jazz 5sp automatic, i thought "aw just another little city hatch, couldnt possibly be noteworthy" but as time went on, I've grown to agree with everything you've said. stiff af chassis, just enough power to get out of its own way and it will happily take more, PHENOMENAL TURNING CIRCLE (cant understate how important this is in anywhere but america) and average turning performance, engines right over the front wheels so heaps of grip off the line (at the expense of a fair bit of understeer in corners but thats why the chassis is so stiff, could be worse), insanely modular cargo capacity (we've moved an entire house with ours), EXTREMELY reliable (gf had honestly been running hers WITHOUT OIL for a UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME and it wasn't until we took it for a scheduled service that we found out.. couldn't even tell the difference.. our commute is straight up to highway speeds then into stop start traffic and we had absolutely no idea)
didnt even know there was a mugen version, could be an ez collectors hot hatch if one pops up for auction in japan..
This was an amazing video, hopefully it gets a lot more traction!
Yeah I feel like the Fit2 is a better car but for me it's lost some of that handling edge that makes the Fit1 so fun.
@@christopherjohnston6343 the GE8 is much more composed thanks to improved body structure but GD3 is more "loose"
@@ShaiyanHossain depends what you define as composed. GE8 may have a more rigid chassis but I think the suspension is softer as I find it wallows a bit.
Had my 2004 Honda jazz for 5 years, it’s the best car I have ever owned ❤
Me too ❤
I think it's also important to mention the issues we had here in Canada/cold weather with the 3rd gen Honda Fit (2015+) where the GDI "Earth Dreams" engine would have oil dilution issues(prevalent in the Turbo model engines; CRV / SI).
Otherwise a fantastic car without a doubt
Have a Honda fit 2016 EX, not in Canada, I live in PNW.. How can you tell if the fit is having an oil dilution issues?
I've owned my 2012 Fit Sport 5 speed manual since new. Been a Honda head for 30 years, so it was my 4th Honda. I bought it because it reminded me of my first car, a 1989 Civic Si; light, tossable, great handling little hatch that is a blast to rev out!. I still love driving this "dinky car" as my wife like to call it. Nothing like taking highway on/off ramps at speed and feel the car just bite into the corner with some serious grip!
