But the fact the Slayer just takes what he needs and walks away is proof that beneath that armored shell with a bloodthirsty instinct, he still has a heart, somewhere. He understands just how painful it is for a father to lose his son and doesn't wrong him for it.
Not to mention it wasn't just the Betrayer or Commander Valen do betray his own kind. It was the Priest of Deag who betrayed their own kin first by joining and making a pact with the Maykrs. The Betrayer just set things in motion, just as they planned. Yep. It's what the Maykrs do... they lie and trick everyone they meet, as they did with some of the Night Sentinels, and corrupt what they do. In fact, they may seem like "angels", but they're more like demons than anything else.
@Alex Its a contextual joke relating to the casualness by which he is always on fire while he has that skin that is referred to by the original commenter. Because he has that skin, he is permanently on fire and there is nothing that can happen that puts that fire out except possible complete submersion in lava and my attempt at humor was intended to be an extension of that concept.
To make no reaction to the Betrayer in spite of the role he played in the Fall of the Sentinels, proves that he either believes that killing him would be more merciful than leaving him alone forever in his shame or that he can't bring himself to harm a former comrade and used that knife to give him a sense of peace. Either way, the Doom Slayer truly is much more than the ultimate terminator, there is a heart of pure gold underneath all that rage.
Nah. Betrayer isn't a demon and he isn't actively doing anything to help them anymore. Doom Slayer simply doesn't see any use in killing him now. His only concern is killing demons and preventing invasions.
The Doom Slayer also still bowed to King Novik's ghost even though his old king was warning him against pursuing the Hell Priests due to Sentinel law. Makes sense when you read about the history of the Doomguy when he arrived on Argent D'Nur, as he was actually endorsed by King Novik to join the ranks of the Night Sentinels.
The Betrayer is still a Sentinel, and Sentinels dont kill each other by law. That, and the Doom Slayer probably understands that the Betrayer was tricked, even if he did sell out the Sentinels, and sees the obvious benefit in leaving him to keep fighting the forces of Hell like the other surviving Sentinels that didnt stay with the Maykrs.
Well, he was chosen as leader of Night Sentinels, he was protecting the Sentinels home world on the frontlines AND rebelled against corruption of Argent D’Nur. He does have a heart of Gold, he just points it not to show mercy or love, but to destroying those who can harm what he protects.

Dude was just turning his back on his former oversight trainer, but still gives him the chance to redeem himself. always gives me a cackle when he starts walking in the opposite direction of where you’re supposed to go after the chat with him.
Imagine coming across the one person who started this mess and is responsible for so many lives and yet because of their reasoning and your understanding you still don’t kill them thats some god like kindness Jesus Christ
Nice use of the intermission music, it's remixed very beautifully. And it fits, because at the end of E1M8 it sort of represents damnation with the Doom Guy being thrust into the Shores of Hell. In the same sense, the betrayer feels he deserves damnation.
Much like others, I’m suprised Doomguy doesn’t hate the betrayer. I guess since he betrayed everyone to get something he loved back, and regrets it...Doomguy gets it and doesn’t hold it against him Given what we know now with that picture of Doomguy’s family, he understands Valen’s pain of losing one’s son
if you look on the doom slayers desk in his man cave you can indeed see THE soul cube from doom 3, so they must have either already interacted, or be the same person, but im leaning towards already interacted cause theres no way doom marine is doom guy
The Sentinels created that Mech in order to counter the Hells Titans. But Doomslayer is an Outlander, so no. Plus, the Icon of Sin is dead once since Doom 2, the Icon of Sin in this Game is Valen's Son so there are two different Icon of Sins.
That thing is an Atlan, which is a type of giant Sentinel mech created for fighting the forces of Hell, in particular the Titans with whom they were the only match for. You know, besides the Doom Slayer and his Crucible Blade.
As Gunless Snake mentioned it's called a Atlan. After the majority of the loyalist Night Sentinels(including the doomslayer) were scattered and trapped in hell. They basically went on a rampage to take as many demons with them. Eventually the Atlans ran out of power, so they pretty much became giant statues.
Pieter Peter No, it's another Icon of Sin. It was mentioned in the Codex that Valen's son became the Icon of Sin. The Icon of Sin in Doom 2 is destroyed and beyond repair, it was already discarded since Earth was recovering after Hell on Earth on Doomguy's original Home Dimension.
Now that his son's soul has been laid to rest, I wonder if we'll be able to fight the demons alongside him. He looks like he could absolutely slaughter demons plus he has some making up to do being the betrayer and all.
He fought in hell for over 100 years after he betrayed the sentinels, on his own btw, I think an entire century of fighting and extreme regret is enough to make up, but still I’d love to fight alongside him either in another game or possibly a DLC
I love how the Slayer's body language says all you need to know. Hes face to face woth the man who betrayed the Night Sentinels, his brothers in arms, but he doesnt hate him, he doesmt even attack him, because he understands. At some point, maybe he would have taken the deal the demons offered too. With what theyve both lost, he knows all too well what that kind of pain can do to someone. He might not agree with yhe choice the Betrayer made, but he understands why he made it, and he wont judge him for doing so.
So the amount of time that passed between valen doing the betrayal thing and this cutscene is like a couple thousand years, right? How is he alive? Do the Argenta just live a very long time or something,I'm genuinely wondering.
I seriously hope in the final part ofthe doom games all the remaining doom slayers join forces and give hell what they deserve for invading their dimensions with hell of a speech from the doom slayer himself
The slayer would wipe the floor with all of them, he is literally unmatched by all considering he's killed lucifer himself (the Icon of Sin) twice. He would break Kratos' arm in an arm wrestling match, outgun spawn, obliterate Dante, and decapitate ghost rider without so much as break a sweat. However, his original form, the Doomguy, might have some trouble.
I wasn't going to spoil anything for myself until I got the game myself but I'ma actually watch a full playthrough doom looks so fucking dope and the story sounds so good too. Like it's more detailed story not just kill a whole bunch of demons and shit.
There's a lot of stuff I don't get in the doom universe and i'm hoping some of you could help me out. 1. So the doomguy/doomslayer decides to go to hell to fight demons in the end of doom 64, right? So how does he get to the sentinels' world? 2. Is the earth he is fighting to protect in this new generation of doom games the same one as from the first games? 3. Didn't he kill the icon of sin in doom 2? I hope I don't sound to stupid but I'm new to the lore (I played doom 2016 a bit but didn't really bother to pay attention to the story and I also played one of the first doom games as a kid)
Doom 2016 is basically a new Doom universe and Doom Eternal is extending that story. They took a lot of inspiration from the old games but it has its own lore. Yes the icon of sin was the boss of Doom 2. They used Doom 2 as inspiration for several of the enemies in Eternal.
To get more specific, when Doomguy sealed himself in Hell, he fought the hordes for untold ages until he was forcibly evicted out by the Mother Demon's sister. He ended up spiralling out of Hell and ended up on Argent D'Nur. As for Earth in the game, it pretty much IS a new alternate one considering that the Night Sentinels were present on it millions of years ago AND the fact that the timeline of the original games doesn't permit the new timeline of the current Earth. As far as the Icon of Sin is concerned, many of the most powerful Demons can be resurrected and reborn. The Spider Mastermind was reborn from the sacrifice of Olivia Pierce, and the Icon of Sin was reborn through the heart of the Betrayer's son.
Remember everyone, the Slayer was only able to start fighting the demons because he put his commanding officer in a body cast for wanting him to fire on civilians. He's not a soulless killing machine, it's just what he's good at.

I love how doomguy is so pissed that he starts walking in the opposite of the portal designation. Dude was just turning his back on his former oversight trainer, but still gives him the chance to redeem himself. always gives me a cackle when he starts walking in the opposite direction of where you’re supposed to go after the chat with him.

Nah I'd say the priests were waaaaay more responsible and actually benefitted for their betrayals
When your silly customized char appear on cutscene.
Silly? burning Slayer is the most badass shit to ever exist
Nice use of the intermission music, it's remixed very beautifully. And it fits, because at the end of E1M8 it sort of represents damnation with the Doom Guy being thrust into the Shores of Hell. In the same sense, the betrayer feels he deserves damnation.
Finally he got some redemption in TAG2
A brother to brother promise.
Slayer fulfills it, and gains the Betrayer's respect.
Much like others, I’m suprised Doomguy doesn’t hate the betrayer. I guess since he betrayed everyone to get something he loved back, and regrets it...Doomguy gets it and doesn’t hold it against him
Given what we know now with that picture of Doomguy’s family, he understands Valen’s pain of losing one’s son
Both are loss something precious because of Demon and beside Velen was his comrade in arms back then.
Valen seems like a calm and reasonable person
I love how you can't draw a gun while with him. It gives me chills. And gives somehow a little bit of nostalgia.
Imagine these guys join forces. I want story coop! Split screen nonetheless!
Doom and split screen, why am I starting to feel bad for the demons?
Bring back couch co-op
The Betrayer a.k.a. Commander Valen could potentially be a playable character in the upcoming singleplayer DLCs.
Demons: Great, now there's *TWO* of them!?

THAT. IS JUST TOO. FUCKING. AWESOME.
"When his heart is laid to rest..." that heart was the heart of Doomguy stabbed. that heart was icon of sins heart

The music that you hear at 0:27 is actually from the original 1993 Doom. The track is called "The End Of Doom"
It's not called "Victory" ?
He is just badass
How cool would it be if doom slayer meets the marine from Doom 3
@Chris Goody considering he had the same mindset as doom guy, probably the silent fist bump.
There are different marines you get to play in 3.
@@00vondough00 Or right, the one in Resurrection of Evil is a combat engineer right?
if you look on the doom slayers desk in his man cave you can indeed see THE soul cube from doom 3, so they must have either already interacted, or be the same person, but im leaning towards already interacted cause theres no way doom marine is doom guy
@@Biopticpaper Its just an Easter Egg
I accidentally skipped this cutscene during my playthrough. Thanks for the upload!
If Slayer can answer he will say "this not about saving my people, this about my revenge after what they did to Daisy"
Plot twist the betrayer is actually kratos
So the betrayer is a spartan from sparta
Betrayer: I am where I belong
Slayer: 🔥👁️👄👁️🔥
Damn the sentinel sword is functional as a knife.
hes acts pretty casual for seeing doomguy on fire
Doom Slayer and the boys visit the Gears of War universe...
"Looks like home to me."
that big ass mecha in the background, is that like Titan created by Doom Slayer's people as an answer to the icon of sin?
Doom slayer is human so no, but sentinels maybe
The whole reason of his actions is because of a bunny Mr. Rouge slayer!
It would be hilarious if he punched him when taking that thing just like when he punches the upgrade bots. lol
Valen actually trained and commanded the Doomguy before he became the Slayer. I'm sure that wouldn't be the best of ideas even for the Slayer himself.
This game proved doom slayer only kills when necessary it just happens to be that there’s a lot of monsters it’s necessary for him to kill
Has no one commented on the music playing in this cut scene? It's the End of Episode music from Doom 94.
That's the highest quality thumbnail I've ever seen
there should be a dlc for the betrayer with his hammer
You really foretold the future haven't you
No fucking way
betrayer: talking about some random shit
slayer: literally on fucking fire without reacting
Markiplier literally played through this, and he STILL thought the Doom Slayer was the Betrayer, or that there was two of them.
He really wanted Doomguy to be the betrayer. Hah.
I like One by Metallica chords are playing the background. Nice little touch
Look up the Ancient Gods part 2, Valen has gotten his redemption.
This makes me hope the Betrayer will become a player 2 character in the next Doom game, if it has co-op for the story mode.
Pretty Dope Scene Y'All! Props be to whoever uploaded this one!! 👏 ❤ 🥰
Who played last night this game is f****** awesome
I love how the Slayer's body language says all you need to know.
Hes face to face woth the man who betrayed the Night Sentinels, his brothers in arms, but he doesnt hate him, he doesmt even attack him, because he understands. At some point, maybe he would have taken the deal the demons offered too. With what theyve both lost, he knows all too well what that kind of pain can do to someone. He might not agree with yhe choice the Betrayer made, but he understands why he made it, and he wont judge him for doing so.

is that music a remix of "The End of DOOM"
To think that what set DoomGuy in a murderous rampage was the death of his pet bunny, Daisy.
doomguy:WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?
drop the armor Kratos, i know it's you
I like how its like, hey look at this guy you meet, now you'll never see him again
Doom slayer in his mind is like, Yo us that my homie!
Just noticed the music is a nod to the original music when the text is scrolling the story in doom 1
So the amount of time that passed between valen doing the betrayal thing and this cutscene is like a couple thousand years, right? How is he alive? Do the Argenta just live a very long time or something,I'm genuinely wondering.
since hell is like an afterlife, mabe time works differentl there
I seriously hope in the final part ofthe doom games all the remaining doom slayers join forces and give hell what they deserve for invading their dimensions with hell of a speech from the doom slayer himself
is that the end credit theme on the background , really nice touch
Doomguy just casually on fire
So that's the funky knife the slayer uses on the weird heart
Is it me or does the betrayer's voice sound oddly cybernetic?
Not just you. It struck me that way, too.
I feel like this is setup for the next game to have a full co-op mode.
I can't wait until I get to this part of the Game for it is going to be INTENSE! 🤯
Who else believed that The Betrayer was voiced by Christopher Judge when you first heard him speak?
Anyone notice the music they use here is a remix of the ending song of Doom 1?
Betrayer looks like.. *HOG RIDAAAAA*
Doomguy: I understand…
Tbh, I was expecting Flynn (Slayer's novel name) to be more aggressive towards Valen, or kill him since we would know what he did
Tai Caliso reincarnated in another game.
When's part 5 of the doom eternal gameplay?
Mmmmmm
Doom Slayer vs Spawn?
Doom Slayer vs Ghost ridder?
Doom Slayer vs dante (dmc)?
Who would win?
The slayer would wipe the floor with all of them, he is literally unmatched by all considering he's killed lucifer himself (the Icon of Sin) twice.
He would break Kratos' arm in an arm wrestling match, outgun spawn, obliterate Dante, and decapitate ghost rider without so much as break a sweat.
However, his original form, the Doomguy, might have some trouble.
Kontra he would beat kratos? Idk seems to me they would be evenly matched considering kratos has ridiculous strength.
Well
We don't know if
Doomslayer can kill gods
Dante and ghost rider are fucked. Spawn would be interesting
well which ghost rider? there are many versions i can think of that will murder the slayer ez or a version that will get stomped by the slayer
I wasn't going to spoil anything for myself until I got the game myself but I'ma actually watch a full playthrough doom looks so fucking dope and the story sounds so good too. Like it's more detailed story not just kill a whole bunch of demons and shit.
According to story valens son is the icon of sin resurrected by the demons
doomguy meets doomdude
Love that guy
I nice way to shut up all the people that think these two are the same guy.
