Genuinely thought hell was trying to pincer doom guy from behind and I said “oh please like he’s killed all of hell let’s stab him in the back!?” Was pretty pleased but also confused I mean guys you don’t need to risk your life I’ve got this whole thing under control go home eat chips or something.

Doom slayer getting backup was not to make sure he lives, it was to get him to the dark lord as soon as possible. It would've took him awhile to get the dark lord by himself.
1:32 is the moment Doomguy is actually getting happy and proud to see the sentinels not because he needs back-up, but he just realizes that after all it is worth to save the humanity because of all these brave men.

@@apuapu4545 Well, the last time he was just some mortal, and even then all hell managed to do was knock him out and put him into a coffin, the one we see in doom eternal is quite literally immortal, never gets tired, could probbably dismember the icon of sin with his bare hands if he felt like it, and his armor is basically indestructible.
I like how as soon as he hopped into the ballista, the gunners, knowing EXACTLY what he was intending to do, just gave him a thumbs up and launched his ass directly through the wall of the Dark Lord's fortress.

Only treachery allowed them to be defeated. They are the ancestors to modern humans, but significantly stronger and more advanced
Sentinels were actually winning against hell. They were (and still are) tremendously powerful and clap demons. The only thing that allowed their defeat was betrayal and civil war amongst each other. They are beasts.

Seems fitting that Doomguy has to essentially kill him self after these thousands of years, and dimension traveling to avenge Daisy his rabbit. They took everything from Doomguy, and he finally took everything from them, a fitting end for him.
He is not dead. His Divine power was stripped away from him because it was a gift from the Father, which in turn was a creation of the Dark Lord. So Doomguy is just sleeping and he is back the way he was in the older Doom games: a mortal marine, but the most badass mortal marine to ever wander the universe.
I love how the Sentinels don't even question the Slayer wanting to launch himself like a shell at the walls. There's no doubt he's done this before and they're like, "here we go again: just like old times!".

A lone marine, mortally wounded after fighting demons in hell for eons after losing his family, and then somehow getting rescued by angelic beings who turned him into a god and now this.... I like the facial interaction between the Betrayer and him. He clearly tried to keep that angry: "my business" face, but simply can't. Despite the fact he knows he isn't the only one who wants to end this all, he simply can't hide shock in his face. Maybe it was due the fact he knows what force they're facing to and he wouldn't even occur to think, that someone would decide to fight it directly. Or it was the behaviour he encounters. Every time he met someone, they behave cold, fear him, or almost worship him. And now, when he stands on the edge of the total end, the army of last resistance, stands next to him and don't fear him anymore, because they are brothers.

I don't think these are the night sentinels. As we can see the night sentinels are those who are wearing white. I think these are the argent dnur people who sided with the slayer and was there during the first attack on hell. It's fitting that they returned to finish the job

The part where the Night Sentinels show up to support the Doom Slayer really raises my excitement. It’s like a reunion after they were separated by civil war and betrayal. Can’t get wrong with the Atlan casually beating the shit out of a Titan begging for forgiveness, and the catapult crew being used to Doom Slayer using their weapon as a form of transportation.

It gets better--the Marauders were Sentinels that were cut down in battle after betraying the Night Sentinels. In other words, they're fighting the warriors that can kill Marauders.

It's genuinely crazy to think the game came all the way from 1992 to here. A lone marine, mortally wounded after fighting demons in hell for eons after losing his family, and then somehow getting rescued by angelic beings who turned him into a god and now this.... All this is so surreal. John Romero would have never thought doom could evolve into this masterpiece.

I heard in the lore that there were other knights that fought with the slayer but all fell. Of course without murdering a ton of demons, some even killing them with their barehands
ID software really missed out by putting a giant Sentinel in the Slayers base and not letting us pilot one at all throughout the whole series.

I like the facial interaction between the Betrayer and him.
He clearly tried to keep that angry: "my business" face, but simply can't.
Despite the fact he knows he isn't the only one who wants to end this all, he simply can't hide shock in his face.
Maybe it was due the fact he knows what force they're facing to and he wouldn't even occur to think, that someone would decide to fight it directly.
Or it was the behaviour he encounters. Every time he met someone, they behave cold, fear him, or almost worship him. And now, when he stands on the edge of the total end, the army of last resistance, stands next to him and don't fear him anymore, because they are brothers.

I don't think these are the night sentinels. As we can see the night sentinels are those who are wearing white. I think these are the argent dnur people who sided with the slayer and was there during the first attack on hell. It's fitting that they returned to finish the job

The part where the Night Sentinels show up to support the Doom Slayer really raises my excitement. It’s like a reunion after they were separated by civil war and betrayal. Can’t get wrong with the Atlan casually beating the shit out of a Titan begging for forgiveness, and the catapult crew being used to Doom Slayer using their weapon as a form of transportation.
In the Italian version, when the Intern starts losing connection, he actually says: "...I'm starting to lose my connection. Doom Slayer, sir, good luck-"

It wasn't a betrayal at all, not really. Doomslayer went into this knowing more or less what would happen. After all this isn't by far the first time he beat the bad guy only to be put in suspended animation.

On one hand the dark lord was done so well, his voice and demeanour etc, but I am slightly disappointed he ended up as just another man in a suit. Was wanting an epic, good old fashioned fist fight with the anti-doom slayer
I can understand lore wise as the dark lord had his power stripped from him by the father. And I also see it as a type of fair fight as both sides use their best weaponry.
@@Rogerv1032 and also there was going to be a bigger fight as they absolutely needed to release this dlc before a year after Doom Eternal released for legal reason so they scrapped the old fight with the Dark Lord and got this instead :(
