Holy shit, I can’t believe this video blew up, especially since it’s been nearly a year since I posted it. Thank you to everyone who liked this video! I made this with the intention of combining a game I loved with my profession as a vehicle designer, and I used this project as a crash course to teach myself blender really (the BFG engine block some of you noticed was actually my first modeling project in Blender!) To answer some questions: Yes, the floppy is in the wrong direction……. That tech was before my time and my little Easter egg exposed me lol. There is a rotation mechanism that I didn’t add to this video to show how the Doomcycle turns, but honestly couldn’t find a good place to add the animation to the video. I had no plan for the story EXCEPT to end with the Marauder getting run over, because fuck that fucker. I have been able to contact some of the designers from Doom Eternal who enjoyed my work so they are aware. Obviously you can’t just plug a fan project into a game, but it was still awesome to get their kudos. They did each inspire me after all!
It's a fantastic bike with so many elements from most of Doom Guy's arsenal, especially the BFG engine. I can only assume the bike turns like the Halo chopper.
I don’t think people would be too particular on the floppy disc since the entire thing looks so godamn doomslayer eternal vibe that it just fit if they actually added that just for doomguy to flex.

me rushes to my workshop. sacrifices my basically all out race scooter. its 2 stroke so its actually fast. lmao. "progress" it isnt powered by a bfg but it is 15:1 compression ratio. and if youve heard of futurama. its named after something on there. it was scooty puff jr but its scooty puff senior now. 20+hp and all.
Umm have you heard of Snowmobiles ? Its a glorified Snowmobile with front wheel track mod which not good for turning radius, okay yes maybe replacing it with Hayabusa/Kawasaki H2 engine may do some help but you just invented a problem for a solution called Chain drive and yes this thing in real life would be an impractical waste of time plus another money pit. So yes, maybe grow food and make Ice-Cream, several kids will be happy as they eat it before or after playing Doom. :) :)

Unfortunately it'd just end up an automatic cinematic... Way too many sections of the game where Doomguy uses some machine or another where it would have been REALLY cool to actually be able to control the vehicle yourself even if only for a second or two were just cinematics... and there's a giant mech in your doom fort that goes unused. I've never seen a Chekov's gun go so completely wasted like that. I love Doom Eternal, but if there's one place they dropped the ball, it was in teasing vehicle sections you didn't get.
@@omgsam7185 All three of these games you mentioned have almost nothing to do with doom, completely different genres. I'm not saying open world games are necessarily bad, i love some of them, god of war did it really well for example with making it open world in part 4 and 5. I just don't think doom series is fit for it.
@@GregHali the problem I have with open worlds is there is nothing interesting about the open world. It would just be slowly running or mindlessly driving for 5 minutes to enter a building which is a boxed in level, so you're basically playing a 5-3 minute controllable loading screen before getting to the next interesting part.
An open worlds makes most sense for a game with a good traveling mechanic like assassins creed or gta or when the game is really focused on the world like red dead redemption or botw, doom is really combat focused, but i hope they change something it gets really boring the last game i played 20 minutes and stopped because it was the exact same like 3 with a ton of neon lights

I couldn't imagine a better design for the DoomCycle. It is incredible. Excessive in style and brutality to the perfecty extent. Plus an incredible animation with a great choice of music and timing for said music. I am going to watch this more than I care to admit. Also, those last 2 shots though... I wish I had them as posters in my room
There is no way to properly explain how much I love this! One of my favorite things to do is imagine Doomguy in other fictional universes, and I've always used the idea of him riding a motorcycle to get around. Before, I'd always thought of the MTT 420, a real bike that uses a turbine instead of an engine. This is exactly what I needed!

I literally just finished watching the 12 minute teaser of that Akira 4k remaster project with cgi. It looks beautiful. So to see this video immediately next and you add in Kaneda’s famous slide was so wild! Awesome stuff!
I love the use of an old 3.5-inch disk, classic DOOM style. I love even more than he puts it in *backwards* (or possibly upside-down). I mean, sure, it can be some other kinda data unit, with its own reading system. But I know what it looks like, and how those worked. :)
The creator must be old enough to know what floppy disks are, but young enough to have not actually had to use them - but other than that minor botched detail, this is awesome

I remember it, i even remembered that particular level that got me stuck for good few months, it was bunch of bats that has shield and required you to chain your combo into Vengeance which is equivalent to DMC's SSS if i am not wrong to break the shield

This is so sick great work man, from 1:12 on it feels like the credits from the game where theres a near-still shot with some moving elements. Great job
the cycle, awesome. the composition and lighting? amazing. the initial animation of the thing powering up? phenominal. i find the rest of it slightly lacking. it could be tilting more while it was turning, to indicate speed slightly better, the grab attack on the revenant could use a lot of work, and the slayer looks like he could be leaning forward more. nonetheless, all of this is still fantastic, and i would 100% play a racing segment in a doom game if it had this in it
All very fair criticisms! I haven't really worked with animating people so a lot of it was trying what works. Like you mentioned the initial bits with just he mechanics animated was definitely way more in my comfort zone. Next time I try something like this I'll probably take another course on human animation that looks more human
I avoided watching this when TH-cam recommended it to me since I hadn't played the Ancient Gods yet, the thumbnail made me think it was part of the game. Beat the DLCs and now I got to watch this - it's incredible! I hope you're very proud of how well this came out, I feel like I'm gushing about how badass it is! Awesome work, thank you 🙏

This is so well story-boarded for taking into consideration the limited keyframing. It's SO SICK but didn't overextend the animation resources.

god it looks so doomguy in literally the best of ways, id genuinely imagine given enough time he would absolutely make this as a sort of labor of love to increasing his range of demon destroying

the cycle, awesome. the composition and lighting? amazing. the initial animation of the thing powering up? phenominal.
i find the rest of it slightly lacking. it could be tilting more while it was turning, to indicate speed slightly better, the grab attack on the revenant could use a lot of work, and the slayer looks like he could be leaning forward more.

all of this is still fantastic, and i would 100% play a racing segment in a doom game if it had this in it
All very fair criticisms! I haven't really worked with animating people so a lot of it was trying what works. Like you mentioned the initial bits with just he mechanics animated was definitely way more in my comfort zone. Next time I try something like this I'll probably take another course on human animation that looks more human

I avoided watching this when TH-cam recommended it to me since I hadn't played the Ancient Gods yet, the thumbnail made me think it was part of the game. Beat the DLCs and now I got to watch this - it's incredible! I hope you're very proud of how well this came out, I feel like I'm gushing about how badass it is! Awesome work, thank you 🙏

dude this is absolutely awesome, The design on the bike is so creative and I love how you incorporated the BFG into it. Animation was a bit stiff but that's not the point of the video.
