I did! It was a good video essay. You do a good job at framing not just an argument, but painting a picture of what you want us to feel, and It was cool to see that here. Thank you again!
"There is no meaning to life, at least one that will ever satisfy us. No one will ever find it. It is not our purpose to understand the meaning, it is simply to live, to thrive, and eventually to go extinct."
I just wrote about how my life always returns to Neon Genesis, I watch the Donald Trump Explains Neon Genesis video and get recommended your Garfield video now I find out that you, as well have a Neon Genesis video that returns me to Neon Genesis. It really is a viscous cycle.
I always found it very powerful that Shinji chose to preserve individuality despite all the hardship it gave him. To me, it doesn't matter if time forgets us. You exist. You have existed. The universe, with all of its infinite power and size, can never take that away from you.
As a meditation related exercise, I often asked myself the questions "Who am I?" and "Where am I going?", and found out that the only coherent response I can give myself, is that I'm a narrative, a tale. At least that's the only aspect of me that I really care. Everything else is there in service of that narrative. Then, it was easy to realize that I did not start this tale, but it's just the continuation of a story being told since long before I was born, we even "discovered" and told what happened long before life even existed, and with reflections like the ones in this video, we may be telling what will happen after life ceases to exist. I now consider this my belief system, and never before I saw this so closely represented as in this essay, so when I went to give my thumbs up, I could not believe there was only 46 likes. But as the algorythm took me to the Dsystopian Art video where you montioned this one, I'm sure a lot of people will walk the same way. I'm glad this will surely reach much more people soon!
I like to think of it this way: humanity isnt evil or cruel or greedy by nature, we are inf act the opposite, thats why we evolved to be social, help each other. We care for the sick and useless. But we got infected by something that claims there is no virtue in being selfless, no use in anything but money; capitalism, the ideoogy that promotes exponential growth and selfishness at everybody elses expense just like the cancer cell.

Same. Maybe it would feel less vicious if I could stop listening to Komm Sußer Tod.
