It's Not That Deep: The Tragic Regret of the "Rosebud Moment"
AD-FREE ON PATREON
At the end of the day, when all is said and done...what memory will pop into your head and force you to realize how much of your life you spent pursuing that which ultimately has no value? What can the final word of Charles Foster Kane teach us about the importance of human connection? Do you ever ask someone else for a cheeseburger, or are you just waiting for them to ask you first?

We will view our world through the microcosm that is Club Penguin. This is a story of social and economic structures designed to maintain a virtual caste system, the proliferation of corporate advertising, and the digitization of the American Dream. The Life and Death of Mr. Peanut: United States v. Corporate Humanism

AD-FREE ON PATREON Did you know corporations aren't people? Well, legally speaking, they are, and they're collecting Constitutional rights like Infinity Stones. The push to legally designate conglomerates as human beings has been around since B.C. times, but it wasn't until the rise of the United States that the inhumane parasite of corporate personhood found its perfect host. Get a grip; Rome was a drama. It is meant to entertain and was not intended to be a factual history. One of the best TV dramas ever.

  • @chrismac2234
    @chrismac2234 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It's a reminder that histories are not accurate. Your under the misapprehension that what is written about Rome is accurate. Which anyone who studies the subject knows.

    • @ricotalks
      @ricotalks 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh I know history is messy. I don't mind that they made stuff up like Octavia/Servilia. I'm just talking about the writing choice of inserting the same fictional characters into several major real events.

  • @rlboozer56
    @rlboozer56 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You really watched the whole show and didn't realize the entire point of the show was to follow Vorenus and Pullo as fictional characters and cleverly implement them into all of the historical stories. They're literally the main characters for a reason.

  • @Guy-hd5lx
    @Guy-hd5lx 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    That’s the joke… that’s literally just the premise of the show. You can’t call the premise of the show “the biggest problem” with the show.

    "It's like in all the great stories, Mr. Frodo; the ones that really mattered..." Sam's monologue at the end of Two Towers holds true for Bionicle as well, especially the Ignition Trilogy. Matoro's sacrifice hit me like a bus when I was a kid. These stories meant so much to us all. Full of darkness and danger they were, but there was good in the Matoran Universe, and it was worth fighting for.

    I think The Timeless Child would've ruined The Doctor as a character anyways, because it gives him a sense of "chosen one" syndrome, which is enough to ruin just about any character. The Doctor is enjoyable as a character, because he's just a guy. He denounces his people's politics, and chose to live a nomadic life, abandoning any calling that his fascist people offered him to be greater. Instead, he became greater through his actions. His kindness and his violence alike. He's saved trillions of people, and it wasn't because he was special in any way, or because he was destined to, but because he was just some guy with a box. An ordinary Gallifreyan who did the right thing. An inspiration for the people watching the show, who are just ordinary humans. But The Timeless Child makes him no longer an ordinary Gallifreyan. He's special, and always has been special, not because of his actions, but because it was his birthright. Also, The Timeless Child arc confirms something we suspected back in The Time of the Doctor, which was that he now essentially has an infinite amount of lives, which absolutely kills any future tension. But hey, at least his backstory is mYsTeRiOuS now, so I guess Chibnall got what he wanted.

    The center of the narrative centered in 2 ficcional romans is a way to point out that there was no real reason for wathever happened, it would happen no matter what. The History of Rome is really centered in the natural dynamics of the structural institutions, there are no Great men or motivated populous , they are all puppets

    I think you are missing something. Unlike the great blockbusters full of greatness, evil and nobility, the underlying premise of this series is that the main characters were basically flawed thugs and hostage to fortune with small events having great consequences, and pullo and vorenus persinify this.
