In todays video I fish the SMALLEST & BIGGEST Ponds in Arizona. The results were pretty insane. I also learned a valuable lesson in this challenge, small ponds and normal size ponds can be great, but the giant ones are not even worth hitting in my opinion.

Thanks man! I can’t say I’m familiar with the area but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth giving a shot! Most of my favorite spots were found by going out and exploring new places, I would say I prefer the canals to ponds but they are both fun in their own ways. thank you so much for watching!
@@FishingWithPorter oh gotcha, not sure which side of the valley you’re on, there’s a couple decent spots over in Glendale/peoria. That pond on 83rd and Olive is usually packed in the afternoon but you’re out early enough to avoid people lol. People mostly fish for catfish there but pretty sure they stock it with small mouth too. It’s about as big as the third pond you hit in the video.

A great bait for you would be the cheese paste bait they make for chub fishing in the United Kingdom. There are videos on how to make it. It works, doesn’t go bad, and is easy to make and carry.

Your welcome. If you would all start to fish in the method feeder UK style, it would greatly improve your fishing. It introduces extra food into the fishing environment which it seems alot of the fish you are catching could use. It's also a fun way to catch smaller fish.

The fact you caught a catfish that big in that tiny of a pond is crazy yet I’m not surprised at all😂 AZ just has SO many catfish. I catch them all the time especially when I’m trying to catch other species.

My favorite pond to fish is half the size of the second pond. There is 10 carp any where between 10 to 18 pounds, one 20 pound catfish (actually 16), and two big grass carp.

@@FishingWithPorter or even better I found a pound the size of the average backyard and it has not one not two but THREE 30+ pound grass carp. I managed to train the largest grass to bananas because people kept littering them. So if you ever go to that pond feed jimmy (yes that’s is name) a banana.

What makes you think that?
Try not to pump the rod as much, it could help prevent you from losing future fish. When you’re changing up where you’re holding the rod and moving it up and down/ side to side, the hook tends to slip!

Man how!! I've been fishing these urban ponds for a month and haven't caught anything! I do go mid day though so does it really make a difference if I go early morning?
The bite tends to slow down mid day especially when the UV index is high and it’s hot outside. But keep trying! There’s fish just waiting to be caught 🙌

I absolutely love Phoenix metropolitan area urban fishing that's outside of the community fishing ponds. Don't get me wrong I appreciate them for what they do, but I think it's so cool to drop by these like, gray area/unknown areas

Is your drag loose?
No. I fish 4 pound line, really any tighter and I’m snapping off. What you gotta understand too is if you set your drag to it’s max that it can go without snapping tour line, the second your line gets frayed or damaged it’s snapping. But hey, I land my fish so can’t argue with results 🤙

I haven’t really explored the entirety of Phoenix but I’m gonna say Glendale
My prediction: the smallest pond is gonba have the most fish in it but smaller like 1 to 17 inches 2 to 5 pounds and the biggest is not gonna have the most fish but there going to be bigger 15 to 28 at least 7 to 15 lbs
I think everyone’s gonna be surprised with the last spot 😅

Thank you! I feel like there’s no need for the way I handle my fish. The carp I catch never the ground, I don’t even rest the net on the ground. Carp goes from water to net to my hands and back to water, slime coat completely protected and unharmed.
