May sound odd for a filter but a tune should take care of that. Some filters/cars will cause a CEL because new air mixture is running rich and likely to affect gas mileage and performance. Contact a tuner for more professional guidance.
Notice any difference on throttle response compared to the BMS? That’s actually what I’m looking for without getting a throttle controller or intake. People seemed to rave about BMS in that regard.
Throttle response feels exactly the same as it did with the BMS. I really think this filter is just as good as BMS and most aspects but filtration is better and it's reusable so it seems like a no-brainer to me.

The BMS filter is $70 with the forum coupon and flows more air. It isn't reusable but about 30k miles with the most filtration. The washable filters do let more dust and dirt through which if you have a Non-Z06 is much worse but the Z06 filter is in a slightly better housing to not get pelted by sand.
You saw the condition of mine and that was only in there for about 5,000 miles. The price difference is easily worth having a reusable filter. The oiled style filters and Nano filters do have less filtration especially after cleaned properly. They do work better for forced Induction but not without a cost of long term durability. On our 1200HP ZR1 (LS9) a higher flow filter matters for racing. When we tore into a 50k mile old rebuilt LS7 that had a few K&Ns and a 230k mile OEM maintained one guess which one had less wear and was cleaner? Both using the same throttle body, manifold, and difference in intake filters was the only thing. The higher milage engine did get RPM heads installed when we opened it up but we were curious. Weird finding but I still run my Nano filter on my Spec Miata since I do open the engine up every other season.

Boys and girls...lol! Justin, informative video as always. A couple of questions when time permits? How many miles are you driving before changing you filter versus GM recommendation? I have the upgraded cold air intake filter when my ZO6 was delivered, will the Attack Blue filter fit the upgraded housing? Appreciate you sharing my son & my ride! Blue skies from Bangkok, Jg
Thank you, John! I changed out the BMS filter after about 5,000 mi and it looked a lot dirtier than I thought it would. it probably didn't need changed but honestly without dirty it was at 5,000 mi I probably wouldn't have pushed it past maybe 8 to 10 at most. I would imagine the attack blue filter will fit in the GM upgraded intake housing but unfortunately I'm not 100% sure.
Hi Justin, I was going to order K&N filter until I saw your very informative video on Attack Blue. I immediately went to website to order Attack Blue filter for my C7 and when I entered "HP Obessed" in the discount code, I got enter a valid discount code. I was looking for the 10% discount to help offset the shipping charge. Did it expire? Thanks again for your great videos.
You put in a air filter and you Put the mic behind the exhaust? You should put the mic by the front clip to get intake air difference in sound. The intake can only use so much of the air it inhales. Im A bms owner and mine gained about 7 extra on top end and about 9 on the low end of the rpm range.
Another great tech upload Justin. So the ZO6 now breaths a little easier and cleaner. I thought I noticed it had some allergy related wheezing in your earlier vids. 😂 Now IF this was MY Z06, ;-) I'd install an aFe CAI. They do advertise more rwhp and no tune necessary. Have you explored CAI's as a a possible mod and if so, what has your research come up with? Staying with filters, have you changed your cabin air filter yet? I believe I have seen some filters similar to what we can obtain for our home HVAC systems for those with allergies. Save the Wave.
I have changed my cabin filter. First thing I do with any used car I buy. I looked at the afe interested but they didn't advertise any more power than just a new drop in filter so I figured I'd try that first.
As to the aFe, I was referring to their whole CAI bolt-on system, not just the filter. It's great looking and did add more power. The same applies to their C7 system, or at least it did two years ago.
I knew you were referring to the whole system and if I ever tune this car I'll get a full intake (that's where it makes it's most power) but comparing this drop in filter to a full intake system on the dyno is within a few horsepower of each other. It's not worth the extra money to spend on a full intake unless you plan on tuning (and being above 680whp) from what I've read at least.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Understood. At the time when I did mine, the write up was no tune necessary, but I had ECS do a tune at Carlisle, which was the only way to go since I also had ARH headers, performance cats and x-pipe installed. Man did that wake the C6 GS up. Now I've got no problem keeping up with the C6 ZO6s.
I know you did I saw that video. I contemplated doing the same but the results were about the same with a good filter versus a full intake. I might still do it later down the road we'll see.
That's exactly why I love being a car guy. Somehow even two people who have the exact same car will have completely different cars just based on their own touch. It's really quite amazing.
I have the BMS filter in my '17 Z06 along with a custom tune from Steve at RDP Store, Tony Mamo Ported TB, Borla x-pipe and NX Supercharger lid. Do you think it would be worth it to swap out the BMS for the TKO Attack Blue?
Original Paper filter 6$ ??? You mean 60$? In Germany the original paper filter costs between 80-120$ and it's exactly the same filter as shown in the video. I bought a K&N for 70$ because I can't be bothered spending 100$ just on a simple paper filter every 5k miles or so. Ridiculous! Filtration power won't be nearly as good as the original one but good enough.
The nanofiber has been tested to filter just as well if not better than stock while also flowing better. It's a different material than a K&N, it's literally the best of both worlds.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Thanks for the answer. There have been multiple tests with naturally aspirated engines (even LS1) and air filters which allow more airflow, but an increase of power couldn't really be measured, so best of both worlds sounds interesting. I'll check it out.
I'm using the K&N on my C6Z. Once a year, I use CRC's MAS cleaner. Just had my oil tested by Blackstone Labs. Excessive silicon contamination is usually a sign of poor filtration. This was lower than normal. Normal standard was 10ppm. Mine with the K&N was 8. The stock Donaldson was 7. Not much difference.
Regarding the TKO Nano Filter, ordered my filter on July 12, but I have received nada. Contacted TKO twice, each time they promised to get right back to me with status but they never did...credit card charge has now been disputed.
I know they were having some issues with a flooded facility. I know it doesn't look good but I'm sure there is a reason for it. Ed is a great guy and I'm sure he has every intention of getting the product out to you. I'd try to contact them one last time before completely giving up hope.
Personally, I do not believe any simple static filter, with the same surface area, can have better flow and the same filtration. If it lets more air through, it lets more dirt through. The only answer to more flow is more surface area if filtration is maintained. That said, I still use high flow oiled K&N filters because I'd rather have the power than the filtration. I've done a lot of testing, and a larger K&N adds noticable power and throttle response, and I'm sure it does NOT filter as well a cheap paper element. But I have never seen a credible study that nano/perfect filtration is needed, either. It seems that anything that can pass through any reasonable filter isn't going to do harm.
Harm? No, but it will lead to dirtier oil faster. That is where any dirt from your intake ends up. The idea is to filter the best you can without sacrificing flow. Nanofiber is the answer to that. There is a lot of research out there suggesting this to be the best setup for filtration and air flow. K&N filter will flow well but not capture as much dirt and the oil used on the filter will make it harder to clean and a possible problem to MAF sensors.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Its actually a pretty complex trade space. For example, doubling your flow rate is easy, just add a custom intake with two of the OEM filters. BMS makes an N54 intake that splits to accommdate two filters in just that way, thus doubling the flow. But doubling the surface area, whether its by adding 2X the folds to a single element, or by adding another filter element, ALSO exactly doubles dirt passage. You could accomplish the exact same thing by using a single filter with media that is half as restrictive and half as effective--K&N for example. So it's not always so obvious what attributes you are trading, or if more expensive larger surface area filters are better than cheap media with less filtration.
I am going to buy my air filter from this company called general motors, from what what I gather, they have a couple of engineers who have experience in the internal combustion engine. Show me your flow bench if you are going recommend ban air filter, give me something to rely on other than your opinion. Pressure drop at a known flow rate with a given particle size (microns) end of story.
K&N air filters require oil and don't actually filter the air that well. They have been proven to not really be that good. They help increase power by filtering less. Nanofiber allows better filtration with better flow without oil.
Right. And it's actually suggested to be replaced at least once a year maybe more depending on the climate you live in. Replace it three times and you're at the same cost as a reusable filter that also gains you some horsepower. Actually seems like a no-brainer to me...
@@HorsePowerObsessed Actually, To increase HP the filter would have to be less restrictive and that usually(not always) means less effective filtering. Different strokes for different folks.
Nice content my Brother....Appreciate you and TKO for the 10% coupon. I'm not overly obsessive about whether or not I see HP gains or etc, etc, etc and I don't necessarily buy into CAI's for the C7 since the stock box is a CAI box. So this filter was definitely a no-brainer for maximizing potential without spending several $$$ on an aftermarket CAI. It does seem like it's breathing somewhat better and I like value, so being washable/reusable makes it a worthwhile purchase for me. JM2C.
change the filter for what. improved performance? No. Check engine light? Perhaps. to spend money on something that can't be seen but makes you feel better for no reason
if you really want to think that way then you can change it just so it's reusable and you don't have to purchase another one whenever the stock one gets dirty. There are a lot of other benefits that I listed in the video but for the naysayers, it's still reusable. 👍

Can I change my stock c7 filter with one of these
Yes you sure can! Check it out on my website here: www.horsepowerobsessed.com/collections/2014-2019-corvette/products/attack-blue-air-filter-1
I mean I can pull out the stock filter and put this one in no mod it will fit
I just bought a 2016 Corvette Stingray love it 1st mod will be and air filter
Congrats on the car, my friend! You'll love the attack blue air filter addition!
@@HorsePowerObsessed happy new year and may you and yours have a bless an better 2021 thx as well I finally have my dream car
Same to you! You're going to love it!
Thanks for all the info. I was debating which air filter to get. Now I know, Nanofiber Attack Blue 🏎💨
You're welcome! I knew there had to be something good out there! 👍👍
You put in a air filter and you Put the mic behind the exhaust? You should put the mic by the front clip to get intake air difference in sound. The intake can only use so much of the air it inhales. Im A bms owner and mine gained about 7 extra on top end and about 9 on the low end of the rpm range.
The filter specifically stated it makes the exhaust louder. That's what I was testing.
@@HorsePowerObsessed it won't make that much of a difference in sound
Probably not, but it was noted on their website so I figured I'd check it out and it did seem louder.
I swear you’re reading my mind. I was researching this very topic all day yesterday. Thanks for the vlog!!!
You're welcome! It's one I've been researching for a while myself!
Bought the Attack Blue air filter. Your discount code is still working!! 7/12/19
Awesome, man! I'm glad to hear it! 🤘
Will this fit in a 2019 grand sport
Yes sir it will! 😊
Excellent video as usual. Discount code still works, thank you!!
Awesome, thank you!
I like my KN with carbon tube. Works amazing since 2016 z06
@@petercarey6883 I believe it! A tune really wakes almost any factory made car up!
I like your channel!! Really good content. C7 Z06 driver from Germany
Thank you! I appreciate that. Send me some pictures of your Z06 to horse.power.obsessed@gmail.com to be included at the end of a future video!
Wish they made one for the Cts-v lt4
Maybe eventually.
@@HorsePowerObsessed are they only for vettes??
They appear to be, yes. Maybe that will change in the future.
Awesome video brother! I brought AFE a while ago for mine :)
I know you did I saw that video. I contemplated doing the same but the results were about the same with a good filter versus a full intake. I might still do it later down the road we'll see.
Dry or oiled air filter which is better??
I prefer dry but as far as performance goes they claim they're the same. if that's the case dry as much easier to work with.
You should of compared the k&N filter as well. Take a Vacuum and install these air filter and see which one resist the best. That's a true test.
Attack blue nano filter is the best can feel an acceleration gain
Agreed!
Et pourquoi pas un K-N , E-0665 , is TKA better than K-N ... and why ... Robert Daoust , Québec Canada
Ordered mine today!
About to ask KN question then you answered it ...👍🏽 perfect timing
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Sweet Rides, amazed at how every owner adds there unique touch.
That's exactly why I love being a car guy. Somehow even two people who have the exact same car will have completely different cars just based on their own touch. It's really quite amazing.
Good video
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. 😊
Attack Blue FTW! And it is MADE IN THE USA!!!!
Heck yeah! 👍👍
I have the BMS filter in my '17 Z06 along with a custom tune from Steve at RDP Store, Tony Mamo Ported TB, Borla x-pipe and NX Supercharger lid. Do you think it would be worth it to swap out the BMS for the TKO Attack Blue?
The filtration and the fact that it's reusable is worth it all by itself. 👍
Jmo dont dyno for an air filter change. Its not worth the dyno cost or time.
No it's not but it is something I want to know and something I would like to be able to share.
Enjoy and thanks as always for a fun show to watch..
@@JBsC6 You're quite welcome! Thank YOU for watching! 😊👍
Can’t imagine that changing air filter would change exhaust sound at all. Intake sound yes, but exhaust sound no.
I didn't think so either but it definitely seems louder.
It does man. I did mine last night and it’s sounds more aggressive
@@roddman17 it's crazy isn't it? I would have never thought I filter would have done this either but it's definitely louder.
@@HorsePowerObsessed LOUDER OUT OF THE EXHAUST OR IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT?
good video
Thank you! 👍👍
the question is,how they clean the air
Not that it’s that important but is fuel economy improved? That would be a measure of improved efficiency
It probably is but it's so negligible it would be hard to really put a number on it.
You forgot Halltech makes a new filter "agapostamon bee" filter
They’re probably talking about induction sound, not exhaust.
No they were talking about exhaust. If it breathes better, the exhaust is going to be a touch louder, too.
Well done. Thank you.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
@@HorsePowerObsessed
Its actually a pretty complex trade space.
All of that information is available on their website. 👍
you're probably one of the youtubers that push oil catch cans. another youtube BS clickbait topic.
Right.... 🤦♂️
Michael, you are an idiot. Wow, do some research before putting your hands on your keyboard.
Why not a KN filter? Best filter out there.
K&N air filters require oil and don't actually filter the air that well. They have been proven to not really be that good. They help increase power by filtering less. Nanofiber allows better filtration with better flow without oil.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Thanks for the info!!
You're welcome! 😊
Here is a picture of the rear end of the C-8 www.thevettebarn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119727 If it's the real thing it looks like a camaro.
Yup. I saw that. Insane how accurate the renderings were.
Actually, $130 for a filter is crazy, actually!
Actually, it's not when you consider the price of a replacement OEM filter. 😉
@@HorsePowerObsessed $48-actually
Actually, you may want to read up on nano fiber filtering. It filters better than stock while allowing more flow than stock. 👍👍
JM2C.
Thank you. You literally summed up exactly why I chose to recommend this product! 👍👍
The stock filter looked “generic” lol sorry a paper filter is the best filter ! For your engines health
Factual data shows otherwise my friend.
I have bms filter corvettes barley get dirty . Youd change it once every 5 to 10 years 100 bucks who cares
5 to 10 years?! You must live in an air controlled city. No filter lasts that long unless you are grossly overusing it.
There is no way an air filter makes your exhaust louder ........ 🤦♂️
Yeah, it sure does. More air in = more air out.... 🤦♂️
change the filter for what. improved performance?
