Unfortunately, many dealerships are protected by state law that prevents the manufacturer from selling directly to consumer. Iowa is one of those states. Texas is another. And yet Tesla put a factory in Texas, where they cannot sell cars directly to the customers.
@HorsePowerObsessed Absolutely NO one will purchase the 2025-2026 C8 ZR1 at it's 'True' MSRP, and MOST will NEVER come anywhere close to it unless it's a wrecked one with or without a salvaged title. I COULD say a lot more, but I'll leave it at that. P.s I'd prefer YOUR C7 ZR1 over the upcoming C8 ZR1 hands down. No questions asked. Period!!!!🤷♂️🤷♂️
No surprise here. There’s really no repercussions for the dealers. No integrity. Merry Christmas Justin to you and Amber. Thank you for all you do for our community
Absolutely nobody should be surprised lol. when the Z06 dropped MSRP was 112k, dealers here in ILLINOIS were asking for 230k for a 1LZ LOL! NY is the worst place to buy a vehicle!
Picked up a 24’ Z in may from a dealer in Ocala, FL for sticker and drove it off the floor for 120k. I left IL 8 years ago and stuff like this makes me glad I did!
I would have been shocked if dealerships didn't add outrageous mark-ups on ZR1s... The more hype a car gets, the higher the mark-ups. That general manager is a real a-hole... hope he chokes on his mark-up.
My son put down $1000 to order a 24 Z 06 back in Oct if 23 with no markup , they honored it and he ordered that 24 Z 06 on the condition that he’s number one in their list with no markup on the ZR1 , there are some good dealers out there but they’re few and far between
"I was going to be FORCED to pay fifty thousand dollars over"... It cracks me up when people say they were "FORCED" to pay over for something they wanted. No, you weren't forced to do anything. You CHOSE to pay over MSRP because like millions of other people, you had the, 'Gotta Have It Now' mentality instead of walking away from an overpriced vehicle. This is a fine example as to why inflation was or still is out of control. People need to stop overpaying for cars and send these dealers a message that we're not doing that crap anymore. When these dealers can't move cars because of no one willing to pay their overinflated prices, maybe then they'll stop price gouging.
To add to the insult, they force you to sign a contract so that you the purchaser can't turn around and sell the car and profit. Only the dealerships can make profi. It's gross
That sucks they're doing that.....I got my Z06 last June and still paid a 5k markup. They first told me 20k then they said if I get it serviced there they would knock it down to 5k. That was at Sun Chevrolet in Washington PA.
This is the same dealership, Schumacher Chevrolet, that I bought my 70th. Anniversary that had scratch on the moon roof and won't honor their promissory note to fix or replace.
After owning 8 Corvettes throughout the years, I finally walked away from Chevrolet/GM. I had a similar experience back 3 years ago with the purchase of a Z06. Never again.
So upsetting. They lost a customer for life that is probably worth more than the 100k they’d “lose” if they sold it at msrp. Bad press and social media like this should be their payback and will hurt overall sales more than the profit lost on a ZR1. Hope the video helps.
GM is partly to blame. They are turning the Corvette into an unobtainable exotic with a small production release, which makes it much easier for dealerships to markup. GM might frown upon markups, but they don't do much about it. What would consumers do without TH-camrs 🙏
Lawsuit? He was never under contract to get the first ZR1 on the lot at MSRP. He has only lost his spot in line which was never guaranteed. If he waits long enough he'll get his car at his price. It's a shitty situation, no doubt. BUT there's this thing called supply and demand. Dude will just have to wait until everyone willing to pay over MSRP gets theirs. And if this dealership looses $$$ over how they treated him that's cool, I'll cheer. But a lawsuit? Get real, that will go nowhere.
@@JohnDoe-jr4pt these guys have been crying about lawsuits since the stingray came out… they go nowhere. It's greed, and it's uncalled for. I am glad you are exposing this dealership for what they are. Poor business practices will eventually hurt this company. Sometimes it's the consumer that causes this to happen. If we put our foot down and stop paying these car stores for those ridiculous markups, it won't keep happening. Look at Porsche. They have been doing it for years, but we keep paying. This isn't the only issue. I will never defend dealerships, but they see it as "someone is going to profit off of this, and it might as well be us". They get that because of flippers/scalpers. Go onto any Corvette forum and read threads about the guys there with multiple spots reserved on reservation lists. They will blatantly say that they fully intend on flipping the car. The general philosophy being that they can flip 2-3 cars to pay for the one they will keep. (And how dare anyone say what they are doing is "wrong" -- they claim, "that's capitalism"). No, that's greed. It's disgusting. And not to take some light from this dealer doing this (it won't be the last), but it all comes down to flipping in the end. THAT'S what needs to be stopped.

Yup this is in GM to clamp down on the dealers , bad for business , I’ll start my own you tube channel and tell it the way it is , my son has spent over 600 k in the last 4 years
I don't have a problem with a dealer marking up over the msrp. I understand that there's a limited production, but if they sign an agreement, there's a contract. I had a written agreement with a hospital a few years ago to pay cash for a procedure. When it came time to pay the bill they changed their mind. I told them I'd get an attorney and they actually said "no you won't". I did. All The attorney did was write them a letter and they settled through the attorney. I don't know why it wouldn't happen for them.
Merry Christmas, Justin! This is actually really cool of you to take your time to help this guy out hopefully it works out. It wouldn’t be a great story. Pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered!!!
What Chevrolet needs to do is start training and certifying mom and pop shops in every major city so they aren’t dependent on dealerships service departments. Open up full online sales support for ordering at MSRP. That would be the end of dealerships and the horrendous price gouging forever.
Mills Chevrolet in Davenport Iowa also does not charge over MSRP for Corvettes. Unfortunately, they are a small dealership and don’t get very many allocations. I don’t even know if they will get an allocation for ZR1. I got my Z06 from there.
The unfortunate truth is that the dealers wouldn’t charge 100k or more over sticker if no one was going to pay it. But…people are lining up to pay 100-200k….so…of course the dealers are going to be greedy!
@@HorsePowerObsessed even though there is signed paperwork, etc…the dealer knows that 90% of the time the car buyer doesn’t have another 100k to pay lawyer fees for a lawsuit that could drag on for a couple years or more. Still doesn’t make it right. Love your channel Justin! Thanks!
I put my deposit down on a Z06 in 2020, deposit was down at big MSRP dealer but after waiting 4 years and no car due to Z07 availability finally gave up and bought a McClaren.
Avoid Schumacher Chevrolet; don't give them your business. Bridgewater Chevrolet tried to overcharge me too, quoting $100k over MSRP for a ZR1! Especially after I bought a C8 Z51 3LT from them.
When Z06 came out most all dealerships marked the car up including yours Justin , so of course the ZR1 will charge above MSRP , if GM doesn’t step in then Dealership will control the market up price , nothing we can do
As I stated in the video, this shouldn’t surprise anyone however, My problem isn’t so much over MSRP charging it’s the lies and denial of contracts signed.
Tell GM they need to hit a computer button to see who’s buying their cars and who’s been flipping them , my son hasn’t sold anything , he traded his 21 Tahoe toward a ac8 Stingray and traded the 23 stingray toward the 23 z06 , he currently has a 23 Zo6 convertible and a 24 Zo6 Convertible and a 23 lease Blazer and a 25 lease in a Traverse , how much business do u have to give GM before you get some respect I have No Priblem calling GM on this cuz I know what the facts are
And another thing I would suggest is that you demand that your dealership video tape the services they're doing to your car because they say you have to have proof that you did your own service so I feel the dealerships have to have proof that they actually did your service cuz nobody knows they don't give you the filter you don't have no way of knowing they actually changed it and they charge you $1,800
This is why I always stand there and watch them and sometimes even film them. I don’t trust their business practices because of stuff like that and because of stuff in this video. They have just made themselves very untrustworthy.
They didn't break the law. HIs spot in line was never guaranteed. If he's willing to wait he'll get his car. Though I do appreciate the irony of someone choosing to sport the Joker as their profile pic while encouraging others to engage in pointless lawfare.
Agreed. It doesn't HAVE to be this way, though. We can stop it with videos like this and getting the right people to hear it. IF people literally stop shopping there for a Corvette, they have no choice but to make it right!
I bought a Porsche GT4 at MSRP 18 months ago and still waiting for my Z06 with deposit for the Z06 a couple of months before the GT4! Will not go back to Corvette because the GT4 is a great car. Criswell who the deposit was with do sell at MSRP but just too long a wait. A sale lost. A love lost. Sad.
Hi Justin , Merry Christmas to, yup I’ve gone through this many times , my son has thrown GM a lot of money on 2 new -a C8s one C8 two New Z06s new 21 Tahoe and two new leases so yeah I’m pissed , I want this info getting out there , customer loyalty doesn’t mean shit
There are thousands of people that are willing to pay whatever it takes dealerships know it and they’re going to push it, GM will keep production rates so low that they’ll always have a demand. They will pretend they care but they don’t care. if you were willing to wait years and years just for the chance to buy it how about we all refuse to purchase any Model of a new Corvette ZERO SALES ! is the only thing that will get their attention. If we all REALLY want change to happen, then we all must stop buying Corvettes
So much nonsense with almost all these dealerships. I paid over msrp like most from what I'm learning. I had bought a used 23 z06 from a dealership that only had a 1k miles on it, when I took it in for service I was told there was no warranty due to the previous seller selling before the 6 months. These dealerships are frauds
Funny you asked. After 4 vettes (last being a C7.R Z06/7, yellow/black vert I loved), had my name on waiting list for Z06. Got tired of waiting, drove my 2019 911 (991.2 4 GTS) and haven't looked back. Good luck dealing with the shenanigans. They may not pay now, but will when trends reverse!!! I'd never buy from them again, or more importantly, have cars serviced there. That's where they make most of their money overall.
It’s an old problem. It’s a classic example of supply and demand. Chevrolet could increase production and the spot pricing would disappear quickly. Or a manufacturer sees what the cars trade for in the ‘spot’ market so they aggressively raise prices feeling that they underpriced the car.
Nothing against you guys personally with the sad thing is is TH-cam has Driven up the price And the demand because they get paid for making videos with these cars As normal people just want to buy the car And we are spending our Five years worth of savings And we can't get noise near it at any price like I said nothing against TH-camrs cuz I love watching the videos but it's really playing right into these dealers
Too many “car sales people” came into the business in the easy days of 2021-2022 - got little to no training, have no idea what true customer service or building a relationship with a client looks like. Too many are one time hit job sales and once the paperwork is signed and the customer drives off, that’s it. These sub-par sales people will eventually get flushed out of the system as will some of the less than honest dealerships…let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later.
Quick question guys 2024 z06 z07 package red convertible red interior with continental all season tire 154,000 plus fees approx 1800 miles!! Fair deal or not thx alot
@HorsePowerObsessed 1st off thx alot for responding! Z06 z07 package. 3LZ red seats red accents front lift, high curved rear spoiler I'm not sure if it's carbon flash or fiber
Chevy will build as many ZR1s as they can sell, just like the Z06. Chill out, let the idiots over pay to be “first” and wait for production to catch supply - just like it has with the Z06. Nothing wrong with giving them a year or two to sort the car out, either.
Unbelievable that this is starting again already... We HAVE to stop it this time! Have you had an experience like this? 🤔

Exactly. My problem isn’t so much over MSRP charging it’s the lies and denial of contracts signed.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Exactly.
They told me I didn’t have to have a deposit, because I was one of Their BEST CORVETTE CUSTOMER.
I hope your experience is different than Joe’s!
@@HorsePowerObsessed They asked for no deposit from me also- but I wanted a $1000 deposit to signify this was not a verbal deal.
Merry Christmas, Justin! This is actually really cool of you to take your time to help this guy out hopefully it works out. It wouldn’t be a great story.
Pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered!!!
If he has the money to buy a ZR-1, then he has the money to hire a lawyer to sue the hell out of that dealership.
There’s a million baby boomers that have to have a zr1
What Chevrolet needs to do is start training and certifying mom and pop shops in every major city so they aren’t dependent on dealerships service departments. Open up full online sales support for ordering at MSRP. That would be the end of dealerships and the horrendous price gouging forever.
Mills Chevrolet in Davenport Iowa also does not charge over MSRP for Corvettes. Unfortunately, they are a small dealership and don’t get very many allocations. I don’t even know if they will get an allocation for ZR1. I got my Z06 from there.
This Is BS. !!!!
Yes it is! Signed paperwork or not it doesn't seem to stop the greedy dealerships.
If only the dealers would sell direct to the public
I’m trying to sign a contract also but they won’t do it , the darker he gave all the business to
The unfortunate truth is that the dealers wouldn’t charge 100k or more over sticker if no one was going to pay it. But…people are lining up to pay 100-200k….so…of course the dealers are going to be greedy!
My problem isn’t so much over MSRP charging it’s the lies and denial of contracts signed.
Thanks!
They haven't even announced a price 😂😅 people drawing up contracts 😂
And when the dealers are hurting they can cry alone
Keep us updated on this issue
I definitely will
They need to force all dealerships to buy 100 FULLY LOADED ZR1's. Plus 100 of manufacturers percered builds of whatever. Direct sales is needed
I put my deposit down on a Z06 in 2020, deposit was down at big MSRP dealer but after waiting 4 years and no car due to Z07 availability finally gave up and bought a McClaren.
MacMulkin Chevrolet, sells at MSRP, #1 Corvette dealer! All other dealers take note. The games may win one, but lose many.
Avoid Schumacher Chevrolet; don't give them your business. Bridgewater Chevrolet tried to overcharge me too, quoting $100k over MSRP for a ZR1! Especially after I bought a C8 Z51 3LT from them.
Let's ALL help Joe however we can. This is wrong and Pitiful
Agreed!!
Thanks Chris ! Dealt it good faith being a 20 year 6 car customer.
If it is a contract and is breached it is illegal, but going through lawyers can be expensive and unnecessary.
He needs to sue them into oblivion!
They didn't break the law. HIs spot in line was never guaranteed. If he's willing to wait he'll get his car. Though I do appreciate the irony of someone choosing to sport the Joker as their profile pic while encouraging others to engage in pointless lawfare.
I will never paid over msrp on A GM car
I hope the dealer get's Sued. Nice video.
Thanks! I hope something happens that makes them rethink their stance.
Its a shame this is the way delerships operate now. Greed is horrible and the car enthusiasts pay the price, bs.
Great information.Nice to hear honest talk.God bless.
Thank you!
There are thousands of people that are willing to pay whatever it takes dealerships know it and they’re going to push it, GM will keep production rates so low that they’ll always have a demand. They will pretend they care but they don’t care.
if you were willing to wait years and years just for the chance to buy it how about we all refuse to purchase any Model of a new Corvette
ZERO SALES !
is the only thing that will get their attention.
When you said WE have to stop it. Who is WE? HOW? 😳
Send me the info, and I'll make a video on it. I'll do my best but we all have to work together!
If there are contracts and communications involved, then the dealership should face a lawsuit. Those who pay over msrp are not helping at all.
Nobody likes a slimey dealership, especially this one! Take 'em to court, Joe. MAKE them honor the contract and sell you the car at MSRP.
I recently got C8 Zo6 in RHD from UK and it's around $200,000.
Quick question guys 2024 z06 z07 package red convertible red interior with continental all season tire 154,000 plus fees approx 1800 miles!! Fair deal or not thx alot
3LZ? Level 2 carbon interior? Front end lift?
@HorsePowerObsessed 1st off thx alot for responding! I'm getting the info from a buddy in Maryland as I'm typing, he knows i want a c8 now!!!as I have a c7 but it seem c8 z06 prices are across the board! So I'm not to sure !
