Ok, here’s my take on UBI. I’m one of the self-employeds whose piano tuning business has shut down with no way to predict how long it will be before it is back to pre-corona levels. I’ve been doing this for 36 years since the age of 17, as a part time “plan B” until 23 years ago when I started relying on it for full time - because the economy, even during the Clinton boom, just wasn’t producing jobs for college grads (business) that provided sufficient income to live on. The piano retail business has been gradually decaying since the peak in 1978, but service held steady into the 90s. And my analysis is that it is NOT due to a loss of interest. It is due to the lack of available money in the consumer base which has fed an underlying fear of allowing your children to learn piano - heaven forbid they’re good at it and that derail your plans for them to grow up to be doctors or engineers. It’s the “trust” issue you speak about. People don’t trust the MARKET for going out and chasing their dreams. And they’re actually voting for the politicians who are reinforcing this lack of ability to trust the markets. We have an income problem in most of America. Even working people think that a 35K income you’d make in the 1980s is still a good income today. That’s why working people are against a $15 minimum wage. But while UBI seems like the simple solution, it won’t address the underlying cause festering beneath the surface that’s causing all of these symptoms. No approach is going to work unless we repeal Reaganomics and go back to a more progressive income tax rate system like existed from the 1930s to 1981. And BOTH parties bought into the Reaganomics tax cuts and deregulation head over heels. As long as millionaires/billionaires can extract as much as they want from commerce with practically no penalty and leave crumbs or nothing for the people who do the work, this problem isn’t going to be solved. Giving families more money every month without a tax penalty for raising prices is just going to result in rising prices. We have a cash flow economy. That means that over the last century, and most particularly the last 40 years, we have transitioned away from the work of your hands directly producing your survival to trading the work of your hands for currency, the amount of which is determined by some mythological inanimate “market” and your survival now depends on currency rather than work. Clues around us like the price of farm land outpacing inflation at a rate of 4x to 5x over just the last 30 years shows that the wealthy are actively attempting to price the working people out of their ability to ever be self-sufficient again. We cannot go back to the way our nation set out to be - the intention around which the constitution was framed. This disconnect between work and surviving has made currency slaves out of all of us. While UBI may be forward thinking as technology replaces humans in the work place, it still does not fix this disconnect between one’s work and their survival.

If we are keeping billionaires then we need more billionaires like Jack Dorsey.
"Gratitude through action" may that be the theme of this era.
What a gift to listen to our foremost thinking politition and one of the most well intentioned billionaires. You are changing the way I percieve politics and business and giving me hope for the future. Much gratitude 🙏
Awesome, you guys reaffirm my hope and optimism for the future. Thank you.
Thanks guys
37:54 is (one of the reasons) why I love Jack Dorsey so much. You can just tell he has a heart of gold, talk about trust, Jack is as genuine as it gets
Too bad for him that his company stocks are in free-fall as the executive action (that is long overdue) is being executed.
I CAN'T WAIT TO VOTE FOR ANDREW YANG!!!!!!
Yuval Harari is honestly one of the best modern writers with amazing incites on the human past and future
A big problem is the fact that USA politics is more about being a polarizing divisive competitive sport than proposing and implementing solutions. This is why Trump is so successful in politics and a visionary solutions genius like Yang had trouble. Americans need to get their priorities straight.
Thanks for the $ you sent out Andrew that was nice.
