    Thanks for the wonderful reactions everyone. And I'm sorry about the moments where I'm interrupting Andrew - I'm afraid it was the time lag between us (I'm based in The Netherlands), so couldn't help it! But I really really enjoyed this conversation. Andrew has been a huge inspiration to me for a long time now. A man of ideas and action.

      @@chrischandnoit2525 He is grooming the people to notice him next time. Andrew had the answers from the start of his campaign, but due to years of brainwashing the masses, most people couldn't see Yang's depth of understanding. Andrew is all about getting to the roots of the problems, but discerning the complex roots takes very high intuition and 75% of people have dominant sensing as their perception cognitive function, thus their intuition cognitive function will be weak. The masses will get if given enough time. Many early adopters of the Yang gang are highly intuitive people, so they see the depth of the roots of the problems. If the crime rate rises most people will assume more cops and prisons are in order, but that narrow perspective dose nothing to address the complex roots of the problems. Yang has such a deep understanding of the problems and human nature, that when he becomes President he will not only cause massive positive change in the US, but also affect the world. He is the most brilliant visionary I have ever seen. Yang's administration will be filled with the most competent and genuine people.

    Something not addressed but is important... The people creating production (middle class workers) are busy everyday and no longer have the mental capacity, not time, to look up and understand the economic injustice in this country. The 'victims' if the welfare state (lower class) are held down by denomination of the masses and the indignation of means testing. They feel they have won if the get qualified for the next program. The wealthy (investor class) do not have to worry about paying the bills and see making more money off the back of existing money (returns) as more of a game than life. We all need a collective awakening be it through open conversation or forcing our next step in human evolution via focused introspection. Andrew Yang's presidential campaign started us down this path... It is up to us to continue forward.

    • @anotherpovx468
      @anotherpovx468 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tbh. It’s not particular a lack of cash, it’s more a lack of basic economic understanding. MMT has some good thoughts even so they are not digging deep enough in my opinion. If I would’ve to narrow it down to one cause, it’d be a simple mistake in double entry bookkeeping which is defined by the IFRS/ IASB. I think if we want to talk UBI and opportunity of chances, we can’t avoid talking about the method of bookkeeping; that’s were all monetary problems begin.

      Reuben Thomasson Although Marx wrote a lot about money, he didn’t understand it where it matters. There is a German Prof of economics, his name is Bernd Senf, who developed Marx thoughts about money into nowadays economics and showed where he was right, wrong and most importantly: what Marx was missing like pretty much every other economic thinker.
      Besides that, who the heck uses a marxists framework nowadays ^^? Most economics/ people never read about Marx and quiet a lot even see in him their number one enemy. But even if everyone would know about Marx critics, I would stay with my thesis. Marx analysis is not up to date and missing quiet a lot, which still results in a lack of basic economic understanding and especially regarding money. MMT is getting pretty close but even they do not dig deep enough in my opinion.

      @@RadicalNuance For the most part Rutger is right. He has a few holes in his game, but overall I can see why Yang had him on. He is a deep thinker. We should always be aware when something triggers us. Maybe you got triggered when he pointed out something negative about the US. I totally get it. It's a natural reaction, but we should never be delusional about constructive criticism. If we aren't willing to admit our shortcomings (personally or nationally), then we are hopeless to improve and move forwards.

I was 50 at the time and I am a female.... everyday, almost without exception, I was asked this question, “Aren’t you afraid to do this by yourself?” In the two and one half months on that trip I only met “good” people.... I strongly disagree with the idea that it is human nature to be selfish or to take advantage of others.... I think that the human race is still on the planet because MOST OF US care about each other and cooperate with each other ... cooperation NOT competition/hate/separation/exploitation....choose love all y’all... 🌀❤️🌀

    This is one of those situations where one shouts "yes, Yes, YES", at the screen. For years I have had fragmented constructive thoughts in these directions, and just this little chat between two people I admire is so good. In just a few throwaway sentences they accurately disassemble today's hugely unequal society and produce real answers going forward.

    Andrew, you were a great forward thinking candidate. You had the most practical and simple, yet revolutionary answer to the problems we face. Your analysis of where we are, how we got here and how to move forward was by far the best of any candidate. I hope you and others can move the basic income idea forward.
    Ruetger, thank you for making the future seem hopeful again. Your ideas need to become mainstream. Godspeed guys.

    Reading Rutger’s latest book now. Loved “Utopia for Realists”. In our hearts we know the truth. What did we all do during shut down? Ask our neighbors if they needed anything, made masks for free, and made sure our elders were safe. But it is true the cable news only focuses on the bad and is there for entertainment. I needed hope and a way to figure out how can we stop this divide in our country so we can understand each other and work together.

    It's not just that power is so corrupting it's that the system is selecting for corrupt people. Our system is not setup for the benefit of the people or the individual but rather has evolved into a system where powerful groups can influence legislation that benefits themselves and compounds. We need an incentive based system where people are given rewards for doing the right thing. With policing one idea I heard was grants for police units that follow certain standards or meet specific metrics of crime prevention and community wellness.

    Best argument against laziness being a part of our human nature: *What about children?*
    Children are dominantly motivated, full of life, and eager to explore. We're little bundles of energy in the beginning. As kids, we naturally want to play, explore, inquire, and imagine, yet as we grow old, something strips most of that out of us, to varying degrees of severity. We go from being fun, excited, big thinkers to uptight, apathetic, monotonous machines. Why? The environment: the systems of our lives. *Environment shapes behavior* and there's clearly a root causal problem that is allowing for such a disconnect to exist; this why we must look at the most dominant systems of influence on human behavior: *economics, religion, and cultural traditions.*
    Love this episode because it's progressing us in the right direction but, ultimately, I feel both #RutgerBregman and #AndrewYang don't fully understand the "big picture" problem.

    • @terencechin764
      @terencechin764 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      very well said. i have two young kids and i see these things in them everyday. i just hope the system and their parents (ie me and my wife) don't end up destroying their natural inquisitiveness, creativity and joy by pushing them too hard.

      @@slanteyedpoet I would never claim that I'm "better" than them in such a crudely sounding way, so I disagree with the way you've communicated that thought but, that aside, I'm doing my work and look forward to the day I get to be on their level and discuss these issues with brilliant minds like them. I encourage you and all others to also step up your game and work towards making a big impact in this world because, aside from this being your only life, the world desperately needs the right guidance.

      @@LoveEsoteric I AM keeping close tab on whatever is going on, and matter-of-factly in the talks with Yang's right hand man about the feedback on his speaking with Mark Cuban. Could you repeat again, verbatim, what specific beef you had with what's missing during their exchange? I may be able to jam it in next time I talk with him. Thanks

    • @LoveEsoteric
      @LoveEsoteric 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@slanteyedpoet I've been meaning to respond to you but haven't had the time until now.
      >
      Firstly, I want to point out that I never stated my specific "beef", so I can't "repeat again, verbatim"... The fact that you originally implied that I felt I was "much better than them both" and are now asking me to repeat something that was never originally said makes me wonder about the clarity of your thought. No offense, just an observation I feel worth considering.
      >
      That aside, my "beef" is with what I believe to be their shortsighted critique. They shared valuable information, of course, but they failed to address what I undoubtedly understand to be the problematic root causal mechanism for all human-related dysfunction: the Market economic system. The Market (aka trade-based human interaction) has been set into motion thousands of years ago and is an inherently flawed concept because it is inherently void of our familial nature and the mutual reciprocity that allows for the family unit to sustain itself in a healthy functioning manner. To top it off (in a bad way), the monetization of market interaction has allowed for an even further dysfunction of human interaction because it allows for an endless distortion of value to be attributed to resources and services, and even a value to be obtained in and of itself, which is just moronic. So, simply put, if this root causal mechanism is not being addressed within the scope of any discussion, I see it as shortsighted and, ultimately, futile. Brilliant minds have been tossing around ideas and taking action for many generations and many millennia, yet we see humanity still fumbling down the same socially and ecologically unsustainable path. Why is that?
      >
      So to be extra clear, I welcome and appreciate all people attempting to better our world but, after many years of study and contemplation, I understand what the root causal problem is (Monetary-Market Economics) and know that if it is not included in the scope of the discussion and addressed for what it is, the results that come from those discussions aren't going to achieve any lasting results. I'm here to see things as a doctor, who understands the need to address the superficial symptoms but knows the ultimate goal is to uncover and resolve the root problem.
      >
      Do understand, I would gladly go into far greater depths of detail to support my position and am willing to discuss this with anyone but will keep it as simple as it is for now. If you think what I've communicated is compelling enough to further the discussion, I look forward to a productive response. If not, best of luck to you and all others who aim to improve the world. Cheers!

    I always interpreted Lord of the Flies as saying that those children descend into such barbarism so easily not despite having elite boarding school education, but because of it. They were not a representative sample of humanity. They were the children of the most rich and powerful people in the British Empire, a brutal empire, and they were deprived of a normal family life where they could model the behavior of parents and relatives that love each other and instead placed in a rigid hierarchy designed to produce more of the sort of people who can effectively administer an empire to exploit native peoples in countries all over the world. Boarding schools at the time used harsh physical punishments to ensure submission to arbitrary authority figures, including older students as well as teachers and administrators. Such environments tend to have harsh hazing rituals, including sexual abuse of minors by older kids who had been similarly traumatized in the past.
