From the first time I heard Chamath speak a few years ago I was taken aback. Today and this interview really got me to understand him and how I've subscribed to a lot of views and felt an outsider. Perhaps I am but who cares. Great interview and much found respect to Chamath with what he is doing/trying to achieve with his power and influence. A great example of human being using his power to help others. There needs to be more people like him and I can only think that he must have loved doing this interview with some of the potential future leaders of the world.

There are few that take big shots, scale up the money, and take out the typical metrics over time that becoming a smaller, better run company is the sweet spot and it's a treat to see someone talk about it live. A little too much cussing but supports the genius behind it. His back story is super gnarly. But he is one of the most unpopular vc's among peers because he wants to win. And he's still young and hyper-isolated in others that think and allow his personality to be a protractor and not a bridge to communicate his ideas. It sucks that happens, but I would give him the money because his version of optics and truth is fresh and appreciative of his candor. Rarely do billionaires want more influence without sacrificing anything. They just expect it to happen because they got where they are and now command it. He continues to be in the trenches and hope his path is sustainable for us all.

It was really late and we were very thankful that they were open, but also felt guilty that our server had to work! So we left her a $200 dollar tip! She told us that she would now be able to buy her kids some presents! That was OUR best present that year!!! We love tipping really well because it makes you feel really good! What he said as a outline is so damn true.
At 21 I was running a hotel and the only reason I had success was because when things became so hard and extremely difficult I persevered through all the hardships.
Everyone would always ask me why I do it and I should just quit but I didn’t and I was able to make so much money and learned what it takes to succeed in this world even when everyone doesn’t believe in you.
When others fall away, that’s exactly when you double down and power through.
Capitalism is built on comparison and competition. Not necessarily healthy to have internally but if you lack these, you’ll never be able to truly thrive financially and rise above those in your age group at the very least

Just heard this excellently conducted interview. Rich veins of intellectually stimulating, sage epithets effortlessly flow out of Chamath's mouth, littered with casual profanity for shock effect (and maybe to relate more with folks on the West coast?). Folks can choose to focus on the negatives - like his recent insensitive remarks about the Uyghurs' situation in China - or take the positives on how to generate assets or run a business for the long term, giving honest answers when asked a question and not forgetting your roots and ultimate purpose of life (i.e to give back to others and our planet). I do not agree with everything he said (eg. amass wealth quickly right now so that you can 'help' later) but there were numerous "Aha" moments for me while listening to this person.
