- A customer brought in a Husqvarna 435 chainsaw complaing that it was very low on power. I'll show you what I discovered during a test run and how to diagnose a large air leak. #smallenginerepair

Holy cow! What a laborious job Scott, some shops around here wouldn’t go that far to work on an issue such as this one. I can really appreciate your patience and effort to show us all of the fine details. Later
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
It’s hard to tell what sounds are sometimes. But your description, I was correct. Thanks for making going to work a fun drive.
You're listening to videos on your way to work?
@@TheGreasyShopRagI put it on speaker, lay where I can’t see but hear. Like listening to the radio. That’s why I requested to have things running. Be surprised what you hear while not watching.
Holy smokes, What a job!
It can get involved. Thanks for watching!
Very involved repair. If it was me I believe I would have bought a little bit bigger new saw. Awesome skills ! !
Thanks for watching!
Good call by the ScottsMan!
Thanks for watching!
Great vid! Good catch on the first start, I’ve ‘ventilated’ & sent a few of those bar sheaths across the room…
It shouldn't happen but it does. Thanks for watching!
Great job, Scott ! Well spotted 👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Great video Scott, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome job!!
Thanks for tuning in!
That is a lot of laborious tare down to get to a rather simple problem. Part on order?
Yep. Saw has been fixed and picked up by customer. I don't keep notes on what videos were taken and I must not have recorded the assembly...or maybe I did and just don't realize it. I've got over two hundred folders on my computer containg repairs.
Yep good catch! Clam shell saws aren't much fun for that repair sometimes!
Intake boots can be challenging on lots of models. In the old days we didn't need no stinkin rubber boots!
Morning Brother 😊😀👍🏼 I’ve Also Seen The Intake Boot Torn At The Carb Spacer Block On The Carb Side Of The Boot 😀 Good Find 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Those torn boots can be sneaky. They hide in all kinds of places.
Will you fix it?
Yes the saw was fixed and picked up.
Thats rough. Seems like most of the saws I’ve been into, you can sneak that boot off without pulling the cylinder. Then again, perhaps good time to do the crank seals. I’ve not been into the 435 far, just some basic stuff. Great diagnosis.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
The ole "processing information" finger tap. I'm my case it's the "contemporary head scratch".
Lol, yep.
@@TheGreasyShopRag thats when its time for another beer
Great video and very good presentation. May i ask how much is approximately the cost just for the labour?
I've agreed with my employer not to discuss labor rates. Thanks for watching!
Great video Scott. Gotta say, I have a 357XP and a 460 Rancher, definitely a difference from a pro saw to consumer clam shell saw in the construction side of them. Thinking about an Echo 620P but but then Chris from In the WoodYard showed off his new 562XP Mark 2… my biggest issue is dealer support here in Michigan. What are your thoughts? They both look to be great saws.
They are both great saws. The echo has a good track record. The husky is strong but a new model. The echo comes with a 5 year warranty, the husky 2 years. The echo has a standard carb and the husky requires dealer support if you have an autotune issue. The husky might have better ergonomics. Because you have other saws it may not matter which one you pick.
I watch u in 2x speed just so ya know lol as do when I watch myself.
I like your video neighbor LATER
Thats great then you're getting to see me in real time because I load the videos at half speed!
Hey Scott, another fantastic video brother. Did you recently say that Husqvarna had upgraded their fuel filters. What is the part number of the fuel filter you used and is this filter common for other saws as well. Thank you for your time sir.
The orange filter is part #591375401. The blue filter for autotune saws is 503443203.
@@TheGreasyShopRag the orange filter, does that fit several other saws as well. Thank you. Been trying to stock up on Husqvarna parts, not that easy.
@@drmikeyb1 Yes, all the 4 series saws and many trimmers. I actually use it as a universal filter for many models/brands.
@@TheGreasyShopRag thank you.
Seems like a lot of work for that intake boot. Is a re-seal and put together with a new boot economically feasible for the customer?
I think there are three types of customers. The first wants their saw fixed. They don't just throw stuff away and may spend $300 to fix a saw they could buy new for $400. The next wants a running saw for as cheap as possible. Finally there are the ones that are looking for an excuse to buy a shiny new toy. The saw in this video was owned by the first type.
Great vid... What's the easiest saw in the cc class to work on?
The Husqvarna 400 series saws are pretty simple.
@@TheGreasyShopRag Thanks Scott - really appreciate your input. Great vids!
Rewatching and I noticed how you talked about fuel filter. I had one in particular that the saw starved for gas. Filter looked perfect. Checked and found only breathing through top a little. How do you verify it is good / bad. Thanks.
I verify by trying a new one.
@@TheGreasyShopRag quicker than way I learned. Plus part of a overall tuneup. Thanks.
Thanx a lot!
Will u tell me u r snap on impact drive model?
I have the brushed model cts761a and the brushless version cts861. Its an important tool for me so keep a backup. I really like the small size, clutch and rocker trigger.
@@TheGreasyShopRag have a best day!
Why is my chainsaw Husqvarna 390 xp died down when I giv full power?
There are a lot of possibilities why this would be happening but most likely it is in the fuel system.
Did you se what caused the boot to fail?
Nope, never saw a reason for it but maybe it rotted from the inside?
@@TheGreasyShopRag Thanx! Was just curious as I have the black brother of the H435/440. Mc colluch 410 elite. Identical under the hood. Box says made in Sweden.
But I have not yet found out what the difference is between 435 and 440.
@@skrompf The 440 uses a different cylinder and boasts .2 HP more than the 435. I think everything else is the same.
Is that a common problem with this model?
Not that I'm aware of but I never did search for service bulletins.
